The Canadiens announced Monday that 18 players had been cut from training camp, and 16 of those players were assigned to the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs.
Forward
Louis Leblanc, a first-round pick in 2009, was sent back to the Montreal Juniors, and defenseman Jarred Tinordi, Mon6treal’s first-round pick in June, was sent to the London Knights of the OHL.
The Bulldogs will
be leaving on Tuesday for Newfoundland where they will
hold
training camp until Oct. 3, including three preseason games against

The ’93 logo was brutal anyway. How is the Boston AS logo with the “hockey-playing patriot guy” not kicking ass?
Sal should really switch to decaf!

haha ur a grrl
Tinordi showed me that he has the essentials to become an NHL D man, his bad points are easily erased under astute coaching so with good development the future is very bright.
I see him becoming a Rick Green type D with a tad more offense, i’m extremely excited.
As for #51 that everybody is doing cartwheels over, yes he impressed me but he also impressed the Blues fans in training camp but has only been average in the AHL. The game is played in two ends of the ice and most forwards have to excel in those areas, when the season begins where ever you are there will be systems you have to compete against and that is where you prove your value to an organization.
Your developing in the right direction Aaron, good luck in your future.
WTF…

Interesting that David Desharnais is still there no? He is a small player but he has been pretty dominant in every team he has been in. His size may catch up to him in the NHL though as it did last night apparently.

Hi Ian,
yes, the game is on RDS 19h00
That brought a deja-vu moment for me.
I had a buddy that laid out some money on the Red sox. Was watching ’86 playoffs when Buckner had his brain fart.
Suffice to say, my buddy lost more than his money that day. He first threw the TV over his balcony, then the couch and all three tables in the living room.
I wish I would have had a video camera back then.

Finally, some more cuts! It’s enough with the split squad. Let’s start seeing what this team will look like come October.
Eller with Plek and Cammy tonight. I’m looking forward to seeing that!

told you gauthier had to get mayer out of here good and fast when he already clearly showed he is a better goalie NOW than price is.
Is RDS also streaming the game?
totally agreed. he should have killed 6 people just to make up for all of the depressing and emotional drag on.
Can somebody explain why the weekend games were not shown on RDS and only partially at that? I can understand Molson wanting to push the Als’ game on Friday, but the other nights? Was there some high-stakes mini-golf tourney RDS had to cover?
that RIS was god awful!! i couldnt even be bothered last night!
last nights episode was a fricking buuummmmmmmmer
it was great dont get me wrong but holy crap was it depressing…
Think of Weber as MAB, only homegrown and possessing the ability to learn. He’ll get there, I just hope it’s with us.
The final three preseason games are on TV. Tonight and Saturday are on RDS and Thursday is on TSN.
To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.
Ok so if Carle EATS Weber and absorbs his super power we’d be set! Get the salt….

Shh!
I wish I could hold off and watch the whole season, it’s hard to wait every week
I think Carle has shown an NHL mindset. I think Weber has shown an NHL shot.
I would have no problems with Carle starting the year with the big club. Weber, big problem.
So do we get the game on the tube tonight.? I refuse to watch that stupid station RIS. But maybe RDS has it tonight.!
The Price is Right!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Oh great, put MORE pressure on the guy. Way to go Price, you made mikey leave. GOOD GAME PRICE. BOOOOOOOO
Carle and Weber actually are quite good in the AHL. They just haven’t shown “NHL level” mindsets.
He also turned into a chipmunk when he was excited – often reaching opera singer piercing levels

I honestly believe that Yemelin will be offered an NHL roster spot next year.
Carle, Ellis, Bennett, Yemelin, Subban, Gorges, Markov, O’Byrne and Tinordi.
I don’t see Weber squeezing in there in the next five years.
SO what does everyone plan to watch on TV tonight?
Smith again? That guy is becoming Rick Dipietro-lite.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
They didn’t have much muscle last season either, just Henry and Belle so they haven’t really changed in that respect, hell they swapped Greg Stewart for a big defencemen from the Chicago Wolves just before the playoffs for extra hitting.
See what comes out of it, I don’t expect much except maybe Weber being a PP specialist (and likely traded) or Brendon Nash becoming a 3rd-pair D for Montreal as well. It is what it is, Mac Bennett and Morgan Ellis show promise as junior players and who knows, maybe Alexei Emelin will finally jump from the KHL to play in NA next season.

Goaltender Cedrick Desjardins remaining with the big club, while Mike Smith recovers from an injury to his right ring finger.
Tinordi,

I’m not sure about Conboy, he seems ECHL-worthy
I never heard him….

What about what’s his name with the bulldogs?
To Subban…..shot…SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORES
Not really a big Streit fan so that doesn’t go a long way with me. He is a productive NHLer but I really don’t see great things coming from that group.
I see some struggles. Outside of Nash and Henry, that back end doesn’t have anybody that will make players think twice about going to the net or into the corner for a loose puck.
So does the reverse hold true if Price wins and plays well. Does Mike G not post anymore ?

Did I hear it right from Pierre McGuire on Team990 that PK Suban has a place by himself in Montreal?

hes an adult
To be fair, he’s in his early twenties…I’m sure he will be ok. He seems like he has a good head on his shoulders and not everyone would want to live with an older hockey player.
If McGuire is so smart etc how come he has never been hired by a NHL team after he got fired by Pierre Gauthier in the mid 90s in Ottawa – Hindsight etc is great & situations change (Kariya/Selanne)………..

Peter Svoboda lived with Serge Savard when he first came to North America. There are many, many examples and having teenagers (in the juniors) live with real families is a wonderful Canadian (and U.S. though I’m not sure) tradition.

A wee bit of a shocker that Palushaj was cut, at this point anyway.
Avstin, without even playing a preseason game. Gawd, I hope he was hurt, and this isn’t another SK situation…
Plenty of time for him to shake out, he wants into the NHL he’ll have to earn his shot and outplay his fellow Bulldogs over the next season or two. Habs hired a noted veteran coach in Randy Cunneyworth for the Bulldogs who was applauded for getting quite a few Sabres prospects ready for the big show.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
nothing surprising so far.
Looking forward to seeing Louis Leblanc in Halifax on Oct 8th.
A
Habs are going to regret cutting Bisaillon for years to come.
Keep your head up Palushaj, you’ll be back
Slightly surprised that Palushaj was sent back down at this point – I would’ve thought he’d be one of the last forwards cut.
Avtsin not playing a game? Well let’s not all autmatically assume that he’s completely unredeemable – let’s remember that he’s never played a game on North American ice (he wasn’t on the WJC team from what I remember). Let’s take a wait and see approach – might be better to ease him into the North American game away from the absurd gaze of the Montreal media.
Bulldogs camp will need AHL veterans in order to get started on the right note. Leaders will be needed to motivate the youngsters who may slack off after an NHL camp.
I think Palushaj is down there mainly for this reason. He will work hard, lead by example and know that he is an early call up in an injury situation.
T – PK was cut at the same time last year, don’t read too much into it.
No real suprises on this list…Palushaj will be back next year for good if all goes well…
“Six more years…God Bless You Turtleneck Man!”
Ah, too bad. I thought Palushaj played better than Eller in pre-season.
I don’t, he was great but he doesn’t have as well rounded of a game as Eller. I can see Palushaj being called up a few times this season (2010-2011), pretty often next season (2011-2012) and then being full time the season after that. (2012-2013), assuming he keeps progressing the way he has.
Eller was always the favorite to stay up this year. He had a little taste of the NHL last year and he’s been deemed more NHL-ready based on his play in the AHL. He’s a bigger guy with a better all-around game in the long run. Palushaj did some good things at camp, but his second game, he wasn’t as effective without Pleks and Cammalleri and he took a couple of bad penalties. If Palushaj were to stay, he’d likely be a 4th line guy, and I guess what he did in that role wasn’t enough. He would really have had to have played 2-3 perfect games to stick. Conversely, a guy like Ryan White or even max Pacioretty and Ben Maxwell have done most of what the club has asked of them, so they’re all getting another shot tonight. But as soon as one of them has an off-game, they’ll be back down too. There just isn’t room enough on the big club roster to squeeze in all the guys with potential.
LOL! Lapierre won the Jean Beliveau award for community service, partly because of his work on an anti violence and anti bullying campaign in schools. “Just Turtle, Kids!” was his slogan of choice.
Seriously though good for him. Nice to see a local guy give back.
“Just turtle, kids” <—Brilliant dude.
I can’t believe you would say that when with hindsight it is clear mistakes were made with other young players. It is no shame for a young player to room with a veteran for the first season at least.
‘Cogito ergo doleo’
OR
he may be OCD like me and cant stand living with others

“Chill Out!”
It is possible for young players to excel in the nhl without living with an older mentor. Your concerns make sense, given the success of some young players who lodged with older vets, but it doesn’t make it absolutely necessary.

that was a catchy one
nice goal pleks
Subban, had better concentrate on his defensive play, rather than jis run and gun play. two penalties, one for being out of position and another away from the play. The coaching staff gotta rein in his enthusiastic play. Subban got to play with more control.
To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.
agreed but
who didnt see it commin
I’m a little surprised Palushaj didn’t get a longer look.
Also I never really got a chance to see Avtsin.
I think they’ve seen what they need to see from Aaron Palushaj. That is, shows some promise. Not a lot of free spaces on the roster, and I think Mgmt has finally learned that rushing people is bad. I think he’ll be on the short list for callups this year.
Palushaj and Shultz, are probably 1-2 on the list for their positions. Those guys are gonna tear it up in Hamilton. I need to score tix to the exhibition games here in NL now. I’d like to get to see them play.
