Habs aiming to rebound vs. Islanders

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -  "You can look at it two different ways," Canadiens captain Saku Koivu said during yesterday’s day off, the Canadiens’ 4-1 Saturday meltdown against the New York Rangers fresh in his mind. "You have time to regroup and regain the focus but, after a poor game like (the one in New York), you’d like to get an opportunity right away tomorrow to bounce back."

After picking up at least a point in each of their seven previous games (5-0-2), the Canadiens hit a Montreal-sized pothole at Madison Square Garden. So the Habs will try to put Saturday behind them and are making a win Tuesday night against the Islanders a priority.

    Wow thats some serious coin for a 40 yr old, half season, backup goalie, who hasn’t done anything notable at the NHL level in nearly a decade… Osgood must be steaming.

    Here’s my critique of Smokes as reported in an earlier thread:

    1. He squanders almost every opportunity to clear the puck out of the D-zone during PK’s;
    2. Despite his size, he doesn’t bring the physical game;
    3. He frequently takes a lazy body position when checking;
    4. He hasn’t taught Chips how to win face-offs;
    5. He needs to make more of an offensive contribution, while elevating the defensive components of his game.

    Yeah he’s only 20. So now a whole new world’s opened up for him and he knows its tough. But in any case, we all have ups and downs. Hope he shows em what he’s really made of.

    Pittsburgh 4-1 over the Rangers. Conklin wins 10th game.

    Ty Conklin won 6 games last year and that includes the American League! So far for Pittsburgh he is:

    10-0-1, 1.72, .949

    Urine sample please!

    when are we going to see halak in net?

    I can live with that although I was leaning the other way. The big question is will Carbo sit Brisebois and move Streit back with Hamrlik. Tommy K can dress and play on the checking line in place of Streit.
