Grabovski recalled from Bulldogs

Is it to see action tonight with the Canadiens – or the Atlanta Thrashers? Updating that Marian Hossa is not at the Bell Centre for the Thrashers’ game-day skate.

Stay tuned, and see the team’s release below on the recall of Grabovski.

The Canadiens’ release:

  1. Shiloh says:

An hour breakfast meeting followed by a briefing. Short meeting from 10-10:30. I’m supposed to be developing a report but I just watched the TSN stream for 15 minutes or so. But nobody can say anything – I’m the boss.

  2. Chris says:

I’ll bite. I don’t complain much about the Habs, and I am very scared to make a move. They rarely work and I really don’t think that we’re a serious contender this season…the addition of one impact player will not change that. Unless one of our goalies gets red-hot in the post-season, we don’t really have much of a chance to contend with a strong, skilled team like Anaheim, Dallas or even Ottawa. Mortgaging the future to make a premature run this season just doesn’t make sense to me.

  3. Bean says:

    Breaking productivity records for sure!!

My fingers are totally flying over the keyboard . . . to minimize my trade-info windows when the boss is nearby 😉

  4. Scotty90 says:

Hossa and Havlat were awesome together in Ottawa….. who knows… they may get re-united!

  5. Habhopeful says:

Hahahaha absolutely not!!!, i’m on fourth period, TSN Jon ONraits Blog and HIO, plus i dont really have much to do, and i try to look busy sometimes…

“Like, you can’t get a girl pregnant when she’s on top man, I mean, its gravity…Just can’t happen.”

    -Jason Segel

  6. the real vinnydj says:

If you see a big dip in the Stock Market, it wasn’t me.

  7. Norm0770 says:

Since the Habs are 3rd in the league in goals scored, I don’t think they need Havlat. Especially given his injury history.

  8. Maffu says:

ya but that he’s enjoying a nice view of montreal is a great thing.

  9. Nav says:

I work night shift!!!! My productive day is now, at home in bed surfing the net looking for breaking trades with my Iphone.

  10. Maffu says:

I don’t believe it. Truth would be on the main Canoe sports website.
Believe Richards is going to Dallas.
Sorry to see whoever goes, go.

    Believe Hossa is a HAB!!

  11. rogus says:

I’ve never been so up to date with the NHL if that counts. LOL

  12. tony d says:

i’ve been staying close to the bathroom

  13. Cable Guy says:

    i’m home ‘sick’ today……

  14. wd40 says:

    lol… breaking records here :)

  15. tony d says:

so tsn’s mole says Hossa is an hour older…..
edge of your seat drama huh?

  16. Barts says:

TSN F’ing with us… not funny.

  17. Nav says:

I honestly hope Bob has a few aces up his sleeves. I know this is wishful thinking but I really hope Hossa, Havlat & Tuomo Ruutu from Chicago. I know it’s risky because of Havlat being a injury freak and Ruutu being hurt throughout his career but the upside would be huge. Havlat is extremely offensively gifted and Ruutu has an awesome edge to his game. Tough as nails.

  18. HKisses says:

  19. Barts says:

McGuire on TSN making out like he knows something, after talking to one of the Thrashers.

  20. Steiner says:

I hope they just pull the trigger already…. somethings up.

  21. Blarneylad says:

i think its to replace one of the centerman montreal moves to get hossa…lapierre?

  22. arcosenate says:

    give it a year.

  23. usversusthem says:

Good eye. Plus, I can’t find any links to that story from the Canoe sports page. so…

  24. nightmare_49 says:

Isn’t it amazing that the posters that “constantly” bitch about the Habs are the ones that are scared to make a move.

  25. Dan23 says:

I think the Canoe guys will be taking this page down pretty soon. No one else is reporting this.

  26. G-Man says:

The byline is dated 2009- don’t believe this…. yet.

  27. Barts says:

Really weird, what the hell is that?

  28. Dingwell says:

that site seems… fakish… not canoe in whole.. but that page… considering it was posted at 4 in the am..

  29. Morenz7 says:

TSN reporting Hossa been told to stay at the hotel stedda going to the game-day skate

  30. the real vinnydj says:

Coincidence? Not likely. Putting my order in for a Hossa jersey since my Higgins jersey will have to stay in the closet. I hope we keep Higgins, he would look sexy playing with Hossa

  31. HKisses says:

10:51 – John Lu reports from Montreal: “Marian Hossa will not be at the Bell Centre this morning. He has been told by the team to stay at the hotel.” Pierre: “Just got an e-mail from a player on their team asking where Marian Hossa is going.” AND ITS NOT AN OPTIONAL SKATE FOR THE PRACTICE

  32. Will Longlade says:

I don’t know, but Grabs sounds like a keeper to me.

  33. Gooner says:

I heard on sportsnet that the thrashers want Higgens instead of Ryder.

  34. johnnyhab says:

I thought Montreal was left off Richards list of teams?

  35. tony d says:

so if the trade happens, it would be so weird seeing Ryder play against his teammates ….freaky (or would they sit him for tonight?)

  36. Habs64 says:

    The anticipation is killing me…

  37. wild flower says:

TSN: Mckenzie just implied that he knows what the Hossa trade is. He held it back to build suspense during the commercial break.

  38. habsguy says:

I’m not too worried about losing Lapierre, but if Grabs is involved, they better have Hossa signed to a contract !!!!!

  39. Jonnyboy says:

Buts one you have to take. Espically for sniper like Hossa.

  40. showey47 says:

grabovski got recalled, something is definatly happening. We already have 3 guys sitting in the pressbox, we don’t need a fourth.

  41. johnnyhab says:

Right now there are to many rumors out there to keep thinks straight so many Montreal names are being mentioned Higgins, Ryder, Lapierre, Grabovski, Huet, Dandenault. I would not be surprised if nothing happens.

  42. HAB-PROFESSOR says:

    Its a DONE DEAL…

Grabs would NOT be called up otherwise…

just hope RYDER isn’t part of the equation…if so this will be the weirdest game on record
    1. Feb 19, 2008 – History was made.
    2. Thank GOD we have Alex Kovalev… his PRIME
    3. The BELL CENTRE should be rebuilt to sit 80,000 fans
    4. We will win the CUP

  43. Bill says:

Trading guys like Grabovski is such a risk. He and Lapierre will be back to Leclair us for years :(

  44. Odie Cleghorn says:

Would this trade, should it actually happen, be announced before or after the game? I wonder how the players involved would perform if they had to suit up for the opposing teams and actually compete tonight in front of this crowd.

  45. usversusthem says:

    Dun dun dunnnnnn

  46. Habhopeful says:

Oh boy, the trade is happening…

“Like, you can’t get a girl pregnant when she’s on top man, I mean, its gravity…Just can’t happen.”

    -Jason Segel

  47. nick says:

    Wow… Thats pretty big. I’m expecting a 12:00 announcement.

On another note… why are the TSN guys standing so close together.

  48. bidds55 says:

Calling him up so he can play against us tonight?

  49. Will Longlade says:

I like Grabovski. The best case scenario for me is that he will suit up for the Habs tonight and provide the spark that has been missing lately. Chances of that happening? Pretty darn slim.

  50. HKisses says:

WTF? guys i mconfused why would they call him up? coudln’t they just trade him without calling him up or does he have to be in the NHL to be traded FIL ME IN PLEASE

  51. Barts says:

IF he’s traded to Atlanta…IF…then Atlanta will more than likely want him in the lineup.

  52. arcosenate says:

you see, he is filling in for koivu who is going to to florida along with higgins and ryder for the rights to peter worrell. as soon as they find worrell he will be in nets for us tonight as huet, price and halak have been traded to liverpool for steven gerrard. (ownership involved in that decision)

  53. HABSMANIA says:

  54. petemoss says:

    I hope this trade happens.
But if it doesn’t I hope people don’t go nuts.

  55. rogus says:

Maybe they brought Grabovski in to fill the holes left by the trade and a “gentlemans agreement” not to play the traded players tonight?

  56. usversusthem says:

Arcosenate for next Habs GM? Who’s with me?

  57. arcosenate says:

    that’s a done deal too.

  58. arcosenate says:

    pending a cat scan.

  59. showey47 says:

jfj is that you? Are you not supposed to be on tsn?

  60. arcosenate says:

i was let go again, still trying to trade sundin although not actually gm of the laffs.

  61. wd40 says:

i wonder where JC Petit is going to end up.

  62. Richard B says:

Ya man, I saw him on TV…he is the man

  63. Barts says:

    Belak to the Panthers

  64. arcosenate says:

What the hell is Bob DOING?!!!! We missed out on Belak!!!

  65. Nav says:

Every year is the same. Deadline day is overated. Laffs traded Belak to Panthers. Earth shattering!!!

  66. showey47 says:

no kidding, belak gets less ice time than the guy who drills the holes for the nets after a zamboni flood.

  67. Habs64 says:

The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded Wade Belak to the Florida Panthers for a 5th round pick in 2008. Details to follow.

  68. Chorske says:

    Whoever got Belak overpaid.

  69. Nav says:

I would love to Jc Petit on the Habs roster. He’s one cocky son of a gun. LOL

  70. 1010 says:

I heard that JC Petit to the senators is a done deal.

    GO HABS.

  71. Nav says:

for the past month, TSN was hyping this day. Duthie keeps saying this is a national hoilday. Ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  72. wd40 says:

yeah, for a small goalie he’s big in the net. and he’s quick.. like a chat :)

  73. Barts says:

Eklund saying on his site that Richards to Dallas is a DONE DEAL

  74. Robert L says:

Eklund is 0 for 1000 by now!

    Guess he’s due!

  75. Richard B says:

Did anyone see those jack ass “reporters” doing their thing on TSN?
They still can’t stop talking about the Leafs?
They are in the bottom of the league, all their players had declined to revoke their “no trade clause”. How is talking aboout them news?
Lord, show a highlight reel of Hossa or Foresberg goals or something.
    Please anything but Laffs talk.

  76. tony d says:

    LOL it’s pathetic isn’t it?…….who cares????????
i’d rather watch JC Petit put on goalie equipment than listen to wade belak talk about going to FLA.!!!!!!

  77. HUDSONHAB says:

This means someone is moving but is it for Hossa or Joikenin or Richards?

  78. Gooner says:

Rumour has it that Brian Canpbell has gone to San Jose TSN reporting.

  79. Chorske says:

I don’t think the Habs would trade Grabovski. But I’ve been wrong about things like this. I still think he’s being brought up to replace someone who has been traded- an active player.

  80. Nav says:

Havlat & Hossa would be dynamite together in a Habs uniform. It would be incredible plus add potentially Holik & Ruutu. You’re set for a run towards the cup.

  81. wild flower says:

    Campbell to the sharks

  82. Habs64 says:

    Campbell to sharkS!!

  83. Barts says:

I’d love to see Marty Lapointe in Montreal. Tough, gritty, and loads of experience with a couple of rings.

  84. Nav says:

Good move by the Sharks. He can carry the puck up. Very mobile

  85. TripleX says:

That is huge for the Sharks…they have become very dangerous. Burky must be shi**ing his pants….lol.

  86. HUDSONHAB says:

    Was it for Bernier/

  87. Nav says:

Do u guys think the Habs will try to load up for a play-off run or will they settle for next year???

  88. HUDSONHAB says:

    Holik makes sence.

  89. Habs64 says:

    campbell for bernier and 1st

  90. the real vinnydj says:

The Habs are linked to so many rumours….Do you guys think we might get more then 1 player today????? This is crazy

  91. tony d says:

dunno, we might be setting ourselves up for major disappointment….maybe Bob will respect Guy’s feelings and the chemistry in the room and leave the team as is…. not out of the realm of possibility

  92. Nav says:

Stop mentioning the Laffs! Gord Miller just had to link them to this trade. Why!!!!!!!! Get over it!!!! They sux

  93. Barts says:

Excitement!! McGuire just dashed off the set to talk on his cell!! hahaha!

  94. rogus says:

Damn. He would have been awesome on our 2nd pp unit.

  95. HKisses says:

  96. Nav says:

Richards to Stars!!!!! Big trade! He’ll be back to form with the Stars. Finally, some trades. Let the games begin

  97. Cable Guy says:

richards to dallas just mentioned on tsn, hockeybuzz mentioned this quite a while ago….

  98. Barts says:

Richards a Star. Eklund schooled TSN on this one… probably a lucky guess.

  99. Habs64 says:

    Richards to DAllas official!

  100. Barts says:

  101. T-roy West says:

    Montreal has signed Hossa!

  102. Habs64 says:

    Hossa a Hab!!!

  103. TripleX says:

    Please be Hossa!

  104. usversusthem says:

Technically, Yahoo Sports reported this as a done deal last night.

  105. Cable Guy says:

montreal’s on verge of huge deal……

  106. Barts says:

    Here it comes boys….

  107. Gooner says:

Macguire says that the Habs are close to a major deal. Waiting for confirmation.

  108. wild flower says:

if Campbell was only worth a lousy 1st round pick and Bernier, Bob better not give up the farm (Higgins).

  109. 1010 says:

    Now what did we lose?

    GO HABS.

  110. HKisses says:

    FEDROV on the move….

  111. T-roy West says:

Montreal will not stop with Hossa. No half measures this year, all or nothing!

  112. showey47 says:

better goalie than gerber and would kick emery’s ass, lol

  113. Richard B says:

Gretzky and Lemieux out of retirement to join the habs

  114. arcosenate says:

richards went for very little in my opinion.

  115. HKisses says:

  116. Nav says:

I don’t buy Eklind’s rumours or any rumour from hockey buzz. TSN or Team 990 is my ear to sports.

  117. HKisses says:

  118. HKisses says:

  119. Steiner says:

    Huge deal coming.
My heart beat goes up everytime I hear Duthie say theres been a move….!
    Lets get this done Bob!

  120. smiler2729 says:

Who would be a better fit, impact player Hossa or impact player Jokinen? Also, I hope Fedorov is not on the Habs’ radar screen, he’s such a has-been, I’d rather get Mike Peca. Or even better, have Bob do nothing rather than grasp at straws.

  121. Barts says:

    It’s confirmed… Huet!!! to Capitals????????????????????????

  122. Nav says:

  123. arcosenate says:

huet for a 2nd rounder cannot be true.

  124. Steiner says:

    HUET GONE?!?!?!

  125. Cable Guy says:

    huet for a 2nd round pick? bizarre….

  126. TripleX says:

    Who is the backup?

    Was Halak called up?

  127. Habs64 says:

Huet to Caps for 2nd Carey Price baby!!

  128. smiler2729 says:

Huet for a 2nd rounder? WTF!

  129. Habs64 says:

    Price is # 1 now!!!!!

  130. Bean says:

There’d better be more to this trade!

  131. Nav says:

What the hell!!!!!!!!! We could have got much more! Unless we’re clearing payroll for some huge trades!!!!

  132. Proudones says:

    Huet traded for a pick.

  133. Angry Almond says:

  134. skoehn says:

damn……………..i’m going to miss Huet…. Good luck Price you better be ready

  135. HotHabs says:

TSN reports that Huet is going to the Caps for a 2nd round pick. There ya go! All the Huet haters should be celebrating…

enjoying the high’s & enduring the lows of being a Habs fan

  136. smiler2729 says:

To be honest, I like Cristobal Huet but he always, ALWAYS made me nervous. Played great until he let that one bad goal in… Reminded me of Richard Sevigny.
And realistically, Huet is at best a fantastic backup but not a number one.

  137. Bean says:

There’d better be more to this trade!

  138. Cable Guy says:

prediction, Halak will outplay price and become number one.

  139. Habs64 says:

Price is a superstar guys, Huet is a journeyman!!

  140. HKisses says:

I liek this trade…thinking of uture and goign with the YOUGNBOYS …HALAK AND PRICE BABY

  141. usversusthem says:

Man kjdavid is never gonna shut up about this. That is my main downside out of this deal…

  142. wild flower says:

more? Maybe – he would be UFA. Kjdavid should be pleased. We’ll see. Halak?????????

  143. wild flower says:

    more? He is UFA

  144. HKisses says:

  145. HotHabs says:

TSN reports that Huet is going to the Caps for a 2nd round pick. There ya go! Thus begins the young goalie era in Montreal with Price & Halak!

enjoying the high’s & enduring the lows of being a Habs fan

  146. HKisses says:

  147. Vancouver Hab Fan says:

It’s possible, Halak is a talented goalie.

  148. showey47 says:

    This pick will be flipped

  149. Edwardo says:

What is going on????? There better be more to this, why trade him now for nothing?? We can lose him for nothing at the end of the year…

  150. notbigbird says:

For only a second round pick? I’m not against the idea of trading him, but you’d think they could at least get a first rounder. Oh well.

  151. Richard B says:

    What do you think…
pierre keeps talking about a “big” deal by mtl.
    I say bring on Ovechkin

  152. skoehn says:

i’m just as unsure as tsn about price being able tp hold the load so soon

  153. skoehn says:

i’m just as unsure as tsn about price being able tp hold the load so soon

  154. skoehn says:

i’m just as unsure as tsn about price being able tp hold the load so soon
