• At a Glance: Humiliation? Embarrassment? Both? The Boston Bruins made a mockery of the season’s most hyped game Thursday night, destroying the Canadiens 7-0 at TD Banknorth Garden. The ice was still wet at 61 seconds of the first second when Bruins’ Johnny Boychuk slapped a screened drive past Carey Price. Gregory Campbell made it 2-0 at 13:43 on a tip-in that ultimately Price back-kicked into his own net. Nathan Horton upped it to 3-0 on the power-play, returning Tomas Plekanec sitting out a four-minute high-sticking penalty for having cut Horton, the Bruins’ first-period romp complete with an 18-9 shots edge and total territorial domination. The Canadiens pushed back a little in the second period, testing Boston goalie Tim Thomas at least a little, still outshot 11-6, but even defenceman Paul Mara’s willingness to rough it up first with Mark Recchi then fight with Gregory Campbell did nothing to change the tide. Then, two quick Bruins goals in the third period by Horton and Adam McQuaid spelled the end of the night for Price at 4:29. Tomas Kaberle made it 6-0 at 11:27. Then the insult: Campbell scoring with the Habs “enjoying” a 5-on-3 at 13:35.

• Key Moment: Would it be sarcastic to say when the Canadiens took their charter to Boston? The Habs were never in this one, from Boston’s first goal 1:10 into the game. Montreal has gone 126:05 without a goal, since beating Minnesota 8-1 last Sunday.

• What It Means: The Bruins have pulled five points clear of the Canadiens, still with two games in hand, in the Northeast Division. A shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators still gave the New York Rangers a point, lifting them to within two points of the sixth-ranked Habs in the Eastern Conference.

• What’s Next: The Canadiens were to return home to Montreal immediately after the game and will practice Friday morning in Brossard, the Alex Ovechkin-less Washington Capitals the Bell Centre visitors on Saturday.

some of your comments are crazy like saying they arent going to make the playoffs if they dont make the playoffs its the biggest meltdown ever they are 6 points up from 8th right now and 9 out of ninth do you know how impossible it is pretty much for them to not make the playoffs some of you are crazy and blaming it all on JM is dumb too yes he had a major part in the loss but hes gotten them 40 wins this year and 3 rounds of playoffs since hes been here look at the team so many people are injured and the ones that came back last night do you think they were really 100 percent i dont think so right now its about recovering and getting ready for the playoffs some of you need to calm down and realize its almost impossible to not make the playoffs they are gonna end up in 6th or 7th and remember what happened last year go habs go and stop throwing in the towel already

  4. novahab says:

When a team loses this badly you have to ask what happen. It is the coach’s job to have he team ready make achange before its to late. Go after Roy and fire JM.

    • Habfan4lfe says:

I said it since they hired him. MISTAKE. I blame the loss squarely on Martin’s shoulders. POOR decisions. POOR leadership. It was pretty darn obvious last night that Martin has to go but how do you let go a guy that is your FRIEND?! Oh hey Gomez is stinking all over the ice, ya lets give him +20mins in the game. Ya lets give Eller 10mins because he’s playing so bad. Ya lets put in guys that haven’t played for games and games because they’ll be sharp, I can barely watch a game with that guy on the bench. Fire Martin and give the job to Muller before we lose Muller.

  5. matraque says:

I hope that it will not happen, but last night makes me feels like we will lose all the remaining games of the season. It was THAT bad. We can say good bye to Carey’s Vezina… And Hart if they lose every game left. I really hope that it won’t happen and the team will wake up, but if GomezZzzzZZ, Gionta and Cammalleri don’t get going, it will be a very short playoffs run.

I think we’ll still make the playoffs but I’m not going to bet on it. I met my arch rival at the gate this morning, a long time Bruins fan and he said it wouldn’t even be fun to trash talk the game, we can do that all on our own.

I’m not about to throw the team under the bus but last night’s game laid bare all the deficiencies of this team, a perfect storm of a game.
    - Small, fast forwards are a great addition to a team but they can’t make up the majority of your team.
    - Old, slow d-men are good to teach the rookies the ropes but you can’t build your D around them, nor can you do it with rookies
    - a great goalie can only do so much. When he has nothing in front of him to help out, he will lose.
    - deadwood is deadwood, no matter how much you pay them, how much you bench them nor how much you play them
    - finishing in the middle of the pack, year after after year produces a mediocre team, at best. Drafting late and no one to use for trades to get the coveted big D man or forward gives you exactly what we have on the ice
    - bright spots – PK, White, Price. The rest….not so much

I hate it when people get on here and say players don’t try. They do try, IMHO. This team isn’t built to beat a team like the Bruins. We praised this team up and down when everyone was healthy, when we’re winning, when we blew out the Wild 8 – 1. We curse them when the lines are filled with rookies, losing to division rivals and lose 7 – 0. We are never content, demanding a winner, each and every year, trying to re-live the glory days.

I still remain a die-hard Habs fan though, win or lose….*sigh*

I wish I were a Bruins fan. When the going got tough they rallied and got the job done while our Habs rolled over and played dead. Shameful, embarassing, pathetic, no heart, no balls, and I daresay, no captain… Is it safe to say the Chara hit was the end of the Habs season? Have a great summer, it apparently began last night…

  8. habss1 says:

I would have thought we would have played a game similar to Pittsburgh, the way they went in, undermanned and still came out with a win in Philly. What is the difference between there team and ours they have a coach that knows how to prepare and motivate we have one that can speak both English and French. a top criteria for coaching in Montreal. Jacques, what have u done for me lately, in fact what have u every done? Oh by the way, that nice little playoff cushion we had going into the week of 03/13, don’t look now but it ain’t there anymore!! Time to look in the mirror boys!!!!

    • HabFanSince72 says:

Yeah good point mate. We lost because of Martin, who only has the job because he speaks French.

You might recall that the Habs beat then Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh in the playoffs last year.

    • Ian Johnson says:

It’s too easy to blame JM. Look at the talent he has; it’s enough to slip into the playoffs but not really be a contender. I still like this team going forward–some good players to build around–but this isn’t going to be our year.

      • habss1 says:

Look at the talent Pittsburgh has (on the IR) and there still getting it done!!! Like I said JM what have you done for me latley or forever for that matter

I agree, Julien is such a great coach, the bruins came back after losing the first 3 to the Flyers in last years playoffs and being down 3-0 in game 7 to beat the Flyers, oh wait…

  9. If there were ever a game to make me finally rant on these guys then that was it. A bunch of Million Dollar BUMS! I feel bad for the Habs fans who went and paid to watch that game live last night. If I were a rich man I’d send them their money back.

nobody left on a strecher so i consider last nights game a success

  11. The Cat says:

I dont know what to say…I mean a game vs a division rival is always a statement game, but last night was more one than usual. I didnt expect the habs to win, but I expected more jam. On the positive side, Moen and White were E and not -4 like most habs, that says a little something. I also think the team misses Max more than we think perhaps, I think against the bigger teams, Max has become the engine of the habs.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  12. rocketsglare says:

One game. Move on and prepare for Saturday’s game against
Washington. Habs still have the ability to finish the season in
5-6th place if they refocus on the remaining 7 games.

  13. HardHabits says:

What we learned tonight. One team is built for the play-offs. The other team is broken for them.

  14. Rainrocket16 says:

I posted this during the game and feel it should be stated again. Mike Milbury said after the first period; “Plekanec should get 5 games for the high stick on Thornton, it was much worse than the Pacioretty hit.” I have lost all respect for any Bruin or Bruins fan for life…
Been Routinely Untouchable In Non Suspensions (BRUINS)

  15. MontrealAtheist says:

It’s funny how people have always been talking about catching the Bruins whereas the real danger has always been lurking from behind. At the end of the season we can count ourselves lucky if we can make the play-offs by holding on to 8th place which would likely give us a date with Philly.

With no Halak to bail us out, don’t expect any miracles when our boys take on the Flyers (or the Caps or Bruins for that matter).

  16. rogus says:

Kostitsyn, MacDonaugh, Grabovski, Ryder, Kovalev, Koivu, Moore, Ribeiro…

What does Montreal have to do to buy a freaking goal nowadays???

Because Mike Camma-not going in the corners-leary, Scott $8M man Gomez, and a bunch of injury returnees and MIA 4th liners aren’t getting it done.

Go Gionta, Go AK46, Go Hamr (god rest your tired bones soon), Go PK, Go Plekanec, Go Pacioretty, Go Price.

The rest of you overpaid, underskilled bums, get some heart or get outta Montreal. Markov included.

  17. shuttle-lemaire-lafleur says:

Boy, does this team ever miss Max-Pac… Gionta,Gomez,Plekanec,Cammalleri, and Kostitsyn played like little bitches…disgraceful and shameful effort by the veteran core of this hockey team and Jacques Martin stands behind the bench with that stund blank look on his face,no emotion,no fire, no balls,no heart,no nothing. PG,JM,and PP have lost with every organization they’ve ever been with and it ‘aint gonna change because they are with THE HABS,it will only get worse with this bunch.Time has passed them by.( Except for Kirk Muller.) They did not have these guys prepared for this game and to me that is incompetence and a lack of any sense of how to motivate the players to be at their best in a big game like tonight.

The majority of fans of this hockey team are not stupid and we know what is wrong with this team. We have been pleading for this organization for years to toughen up and get some size up front, especially at centre. We want an offensive team, with an exciting style that can score goals and at the same time play well defensively. We don’t want a team that just makes the post season every year and bows out in the first couple of rounds. We want heart,we want hard, clean hitting,we want a gutsy team that stands up for one another when they have to. We want to win and we want players who want to win. We are tired of being a middle of the pack team. We are the best fans in hockey who cheer for a team with more passion than any other fans in the world. We want to win The Stanley Cup. We want a management team in here that has that as their main goal.

The time has come when something has to be done. Geoff Molson,…you have some decisions to make at season’s end ….be wise when the time comes to make them…be very wise.

How could the team not be up for this game ? We are playing the Bruins, our biggest and most hated rivals. We were in a battle for the division title which would give us home ice advantage in the playoffs ! Our best young prospect was knocked on conscience on a dirty hit to the head by the big thug Chara and nothing was done to at least get under his skin. I know we don’t have anyone who could beat him in a fight, but they could have at least did something to agitate him in some other way, a little slash on the ankles here and there, or the back of his legs, something ,anything…but they did NOTHING to try and get him off his game…ZERO !!

They played like they were afraid to touch the puck, lost every battle in the corner’s and along the boards, passed when they should have shot, and shot when they should have passed. Took too many penalties, give away after give away in all three zones. Do they have a few set plays in order to move the puck out of our zone ? Sure don’t look like it. All they seem to do is fumble their way out of their own zone, get the puck over the red line and then give it away by dumping it in just to make a line change ?

What happened to the puck possession, speed game we are built for ? You know, the one with short accurate passes, tape to tape, with speed through the neutral zone to attack the opponent and gain their blueline before they knew what hit them. No communication in either end of the rink,no chemistry with the lines. I thought a team was supposed to get better by this time of the year. The Habs are getting worse, the last couple of games have showed that. Hope they can come up with something Saturday against Washington or we will be embarrassed again, only this time it will be in our own building and believe me…that won’t go over to well at this point in the season !! Time for the high paid vets to lead the way, after all, thats’ what they get paid for ‘aint it. If they can’t perform and earn their paychecks with our money, then I hope the management have the balls to send them a message and sit a couple of them down. Shit or get off the pot boys !! Go Habs Go !!

  18. Larry says:

Mark Recchi is forever banished from my Habs memory bank. Anything and everything that little shit did on this team is dead to me. He is wiped from the record books as far as I am concerned and he should forever be removed from any future reference as a Hab.

  19. daveho29 says:

Went straight to my local pub after a really nice bike ride to watch the game(2-0 when I got there) but had to deal with the bar tender, who is a Leafs fan. He just wouldn’t shut up and I had to sit there and take it.
If not for the fact that He and the owner of the bar(canucks fan)decided to buy me a few sympathy beers(and wings) my $1500 road bike would probably be sitting at the bottom of the Squamish river right now. WTF was that!!!!!!!!

At least their is no snow on the road and I had a nice ride

  24. Black Snake Moen says:

What’s funny is losers like this FigNewton idiot who come to a HABS forum after THEIR team won, like it’s his civil duty to make sure we know what the score was?! God damn, bruins fans never cease to amaze me. complete morons. hahaha I mean, does this guy have a life? what a loser hahahahahaha. keep trolling the comments buddy, it’ll be 7am soon and you’ll have to go clean toilets at a highschool or whatever it is you do.

anyway, Habs got their asses kicked and that’s all there is to it. With the magnitude of this one, it’ll stay in the backs of their minds to play out the season, and lightning won’t strike the same place twice. There’s plenty of charachter in the room, it was just totally absent tonight. Shame for the fans and patch. Learn from it, forget it, and let the moron Bruins fans have their fun (it’ll be over by round 2, it always is, isn’t it?)

How about that little dork Marchand? he sounds like he’s never gotten laid in his life. Of course that hit won’t get reviewed, but the Habs and the league will take notice that you have a rookie running around and leaving his feet to break a 12 year veterans nose like that (something the often maligned Subban has never done). And good for Mara for tossing Recchi around like the pathetic old man he is. He even looked like he forgot where he was for a second! The guy has lost all respect from the league, he’s even got other teams calling him out for his gutless comments hahaha. He called out the Med staff on purpose and then went so far as to admit it was all a smear plan. What a coward. Just retire already you old bum if your main purpose for an entire 82 game season was to purposely “take heat off” a 6’9 freak.

also, there WERE alot of ugly fans in the stands tonight. that’s America for ya’ll I guess, U-S-A, U-S-A!!

FigNewton, don’t bother replying or coming back, cause no one cares about you’re useless comments, you’re a joke! I’ve said this before but ANYONE who spends time trolling a rival teams message board has just got some major issues man. Like seriously though, you just help us confirm how stupid you ALL are. Good for you too, nice DP of Tommy’s face too! probably took you hours to find that on the internet

    • Seps says:

Almost guaranteed Marchand’s been laid, he won a Gold medal with the world juniors and was a star in the Q, and there are many puck *luts out there so not only has he been laid, but probably by a french girl too which is sort of ironic if you think about it haha. Just so you know, as he plays for Boston I don’t like the guy but I have respect for him considering he’s 5’9 and plays like he’s 6’3. Ill bet you if he was on the Habs he would’ve been the one guy ballsy enough to go after Chara

      • Black Snake Moen says:

        ahem..

        *sarcasm*??

how would someone making a 6 figure salary not be lucky with the ladies?

hahahaha like Marchand would go after Chara?

        gimme a break bud, please

        • Seps says:

“How about that little dork Marchand? he sounds like he’s never gotten laid in his life. ”
That is very poor sarcasm if that was your intention.

If the roles were reversed I think he might’ve, but it’s a useless debate as we will never know.

          • Black Snake Moen says:

I was talking about his intermission interview, he’s 4 years old sounds like, but yeah….

            whatever you want

he would never fight Chara, that’s just as ridiculous as saying he’s never been laid

        • deuce6 says:

I must correct your view on this matter..The ONLY reason Marchand has a big mouth is BECAUSE he plays with Chara…If He played with us, he would have put his tail between his legs, just like the rest of ‘em..

          ——————

Yes, I’m a Hab fan..Wanna fight about it?

    • Fargo Habs Fan says:

Remind us what the score was? Maybe he doesn’t realize that we actually watch the games. I can’t imagine why.

      -Dustin-

  25. johnny_habs_4ever says:

Oh man we sucked harder than a struggling hooker on St.Laurent/St.Catherine!

  26. dicktracy says:

Not really that much different than the last game. 4-0 Habs after 2. The habs played in shock the 3rd period of that game after the ‘hockey play’ or we may have run up the score.

Anyway the bruins didn’t throw the towel in on the season after that and simply admit to being our bitchs. They came back and turned the tables on us tonight.

I don’t think we really have to worry that this team will just give up on itself at this point.

I hope it’s a good wakeup call at the right time. If the next time we meet we win 3-2 we will be more than even for this game.

    • cynic says:

Dream on. The Habs surrendered the season last nigh and they have no interest in doing what it takes to win. Sadly that Chara hit was the end for them. NHL = No Habs Left

  27. dallyd31 says:

  29. dallyd31 says:

Saw this coming a mile away. Too much hype…plus the Habs had 4 guys inserted back into the lineup. That is often worse for screwing things up than losing 4 guys.
But boy, that Boston rink is like being in a trailer park isn’t it. Wow…

  30. ooder says:

games like this are bound to happen in a season…
    but
NOT in a game against a North Eastern rival
NOT in a game where your organization has been called out by grandpa Recchi
NOT in the game after teh others team captain nearly killed one of our players
NOT in a statement game that sais: no we are not intimated
this game I noticed 2 forwards who were trying to do something:
    ak46 and eller
cammy has been invisible like he has all season.. so lets not start with “he was injured”
    gomez = lol
gionta.. im sure that with two real teammates he would be effective.
the d.. well… can’t really fault those guys.. other then a few mistakes that usually happen overall they did not have a bad game
    ——————
    GWG = game winning gionta!

    • HotHabs says:

correction: the D was just as liable for the loss. there were so many lazy-ass plays in their own end it was beyond keeping track.

The team stunk. I’d give Boston kudos for the win, but they barely needed to break a sweat with that pathetic team effort. So, I give little credit except to say they played hockey with some passion & jump.

We have to wonder what is going on in that dressing room and in the heads of players and coaches.

    • cynic says:

IMHO Gionta is the root of the problem. When a team collectively collapses like this you have to question the value of the captain.

    FAG NEWTON!

Read this, and then tell me about head shots intelligently please.

What is a concussion, as comprehended and explained by myself.

I have been involved as a lay person with research pertaining to neurology at a major medical university.

I have picked up a lot of information working first with veterinarian pathologists when I was doing research on my fox and mink ranch.

And I have been involved lately with the neurology research dept from a major medical university.

    Pertaining to concussion,

I will try to explain, the best that I can, what happens to the brain cells that have been concussed inside the skull. And why one must stay completely resting after a concussion.

The very soft brain cells, when violently thrown against the skull, are damaged and the neuron releases a potassium chemical out of the brain cell. Leaving a void.

Calcium that is already present around the outside of the cells, seeps into the cells replacing the potassium. This calcium is what gives the chemical imbalance to the brain and is what causes the damage.

Until all of this calcium leaves the brain cells completely, and it can take a long time, depending on how much calcium was taken on each cell. The patient is left extremely vulnerable to instant death upon a second bump, or at least permanent brain damage.

Even a hard coughing spell or light exercise can cause severe pain and damage. Complete rest is needed.

These damaged cells have to be cleared completely of this calcium before one can resume activity to avoid more serious consequences including death.

This is very acute in young people under the age of 24 as the brain is still growing and developing.

Please, coaches and parents know this, every contact to the head can cause some cells to expel potassium and take on calcium. A second, even slight bump, with the cells still containing calcium, can be even more deadly.

  32. observer says:

Keep scoffing at the Leafs, Kessell has 29 goals, Kulemin 28 goals, Grabovski who the geniuses traded for nothing has 28 goals, they have a solid goalie, all their best players signed for next year AND $25 MILLION in cap room for next year while Habs have all those defensemen as free agents and stuck with Gomez’ salary. Burke in his 3rd full year next year makes Gainey/Gauthier look like the incompetants they are.

    • HotHabs says:

hey, go cheer on your TO team. why are you here anyway? oh, yeah, the Laffs won’t make the playoffs again… gotta cheer for someone, eh? who cares if they have some decent goal scorers – they play golf in 2 weeks…

    • Mark C says:

So MacArthur, Schenn and Reimer aren’t part of the team’s “best players”, because they all aren’t under contract next year?

    • dallyd31 says:

Yaaa for Burke. 3 years, 3 rebuilds. Just keep spinning the wheel. Happen to notice that the team only started to play well after Burke dumped many of his prized aquisitions ?
And as many have asked…why are you here. You rhetoric gets VERY tired. Seriously, is this all you have in life…to come onto a website and complain ?
And, please explain to me, exactly, how Burke has made Gainey/Gauthier look like incompetents. What has Burke accomplished to date ?

      • observer says:

Yes it will be 3 full years not 8 like here. And if you knock a guy for seeing he made a mistake and correcting it – that is a fault? Something is wrong with you. Too bad Gainey/Gauthier won’t admit acquiring Gomez was a huge mistake and then correct it.

        • dallyd31 says:

No, Burke has tried 3 times, and failed 3 times. HAs he won a division ? Made it to the Conference finals ? He just keeps spinning the wheel. Actually, many guys on the team now aren’t even his doing. Well, Komisarek is :-). Now, as I asked, please tell me what Burke has doen that make Gainey/Gauthier look like incompetents and list his accomplishments to date.

    • rated_R says:

Wasnt Giguere also solid for Leafs late last season? Wasn’t Andrew Raycroft sensational as a rookie with B’s? One season doenst do it…let’s see him play a full season before you say he’s solid. Price is solid. Solid as a motherf***** rock.

    • Mad Habber says:

      Kessel=Tyler Seguin, Jared Knight +
Kulemin and Grabovski where there before Burke arrived…

      So far Burkes accomplishments:
Signed Mike Komisarek, Francios Beuchemin, Jonas Gustavsson, Colby Armstrong..

Traded for Dion Phanuef, Keith Aulie, JS Giguere, Joffery Lupul, Kris Versteeg, Joel Colborne…
      __________________________________________________

A solid goalie? James Reimer might be doing well, but he is along way from being proven in my mind. Rookie goalies are like pitchers in baseball it takes a while for players to get to know them, then when they do there true test comes. Gustavson was looking like a high quality goalie too…
      ———————————————————————————

Furthermore goalscoring ability does not make a winning team, why do you think the Caps switched to a defensive game?

      • observer says:

I didn’t say Burke got all these players. He didnt get Reimer either. But he has managed this team keeping what he wanted disposing of the rest and acquiring new players and al that space for next July. These 2 GMs here have bungled the job for 8 years and Habs are always in cap trouble, have drafted poorly, traded away too many draft picks for players who dont last but a few months and are forced to overpay for free agents because they unloaded those draft picks who could be playing at entry level salaries. Of course Burke has done a much better job than them, so have so many other GMs.

      • observer says:

fact is habs cant score and g/g traded away guys like grabovski/ribeiro/kostitsyn/dagostini, etc. for nothing- end of story.

        • Mad Habber says:

Grabovski/Ribeiro/Kostitsyn all had problems within the locker room, so nothing was what they were worth when they were dealt.

If they drafted so poorly then how come you are complaining about players they’ve traded away? Okay Ribs was in the Houle/Savard era, I cant remember about Grabovski..

The true fault has been in the ability to develop talent, and that is something that has been or is being correct over the past couple of seasons.

        • Mad Habber says:

BTW I pretty sure he was trying to deal both Grabovski and Kulemin at one time…

  34. HabFanSince72 says:

This is very reminiscent of the Centennial season. Start off strong, get lots and lots of injuries, totally lose it, and squeak into the playoffs thanks to accumulated points.

    4-0 series loss to Boston?

    • observer says:

To play Boston Habs must finish 6th and that is very doubtful playing this way. In fact continue this 120 minute goaless streak and they won’t even make the playoffs.

  35. EricInStL says:

    Kypreos is right.

Recchi calls out the Canadiens organization.

Chara takes out one of our better players.

They do not answer the bell. Worst, they offer nothing.

Memo to other teams, rough up the Canadiens, if you try to play hockey you might lose.

Remember at the beginning of the year when some veterans wanted to teach Subban a lesson by asking the coach to bench him ? Well now it’s payback time b&tches, time to ride the pine, you know who you are smurfs…..

Congrats bruin troll you won!!! Meaningful wins are so few and far between for your bruins you act like the Stanley Cup has just been won when in fact it’s just a regular season game. Regular season..not even playoffs…you remember playoffs right.. like last year when your bruins were up 3-0 to Phily in the 1st round. Then the bruins pulled off the biggest choke ever in the history of the NHL. That was just last year. It’s time for bed bruin troll, put on your Cam Nealy pj’s and call it a night.

Stay out of the box, or you will be done like dinner. Slow and none competing players take penalties. It has to stop.

We just might see Markov and Max P. practising in full gear by March 30th. Do not know about Spacek.?

  42. HotHabs says:

Habs sucked tonight more than this new “hockey” site!

Sit Gomez & Cammi til the playoffs start… call up a couple of the boys we sent back to the BDogs

Bring back Cammi and maybe Gomer depending on how well the kids play in his absence…

    Do something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  43. mb says:

Just a quick question: do you think the fans at the Bell are gonna let some players hear it on saturday’s game?
I don’t hope for that, but they certainly don’t deserve a standing O when they hit the ice.

  47. Ian Cobb says:

Now I want to see what the NHL is really made of.?

Will Machant get called in to the league office for the intentional head hit and broken nose of Scotty Gomez.?

    • Fig Newton says:

You mean like the way they’re gonna call that cheap shot artist Plekanec in for slashing Horton across the face? Is that what you mean? Huh? Do you mean like that intentional cheap shot?

      • Ian Cobb says:

Any hit to the head, by any player should be reviewed. All Head shots.!

      • rated_R says:

Are you seriously gonna say he slashed him across the face? where do you see the swing? If you call that a “cheap” shot then what was Chara’s hit to u? Enjoy your win but stop trollin

      • Larry says:

You think you are witty, but you’re a retard. But you would actually fit right in. Boston has always been a disgrace as a city. Bill Russell won eleven championships for you pathetic excuses for humanity and was not allowed to drink from public fountains. Jim Rice was a Hall of Famer and people went apeshit when he tried to move into their neighbourhood. Enjoy.

  48. Montrealer2 says:

what has happened to all of the avatars ? when did this change ? I thought I was on here just a few weeks ago and everything was the same.

  49. slapshot777 says:

The Powerplay alignment that JM has right now has got to change. Since he put Plekanec back on the point the powerplay has gone in the toilet. Plekanec has to go back up front and let PK and Wiz blast away back on the point and let Hammer and Mara or Spacek once he get back as the second unit.

Right now Plekanec playing the point is a wasted PP. Next time there is a big game someone set the alarm clock to wake the boys up. It’s not so much what the Bruins did is what the Habs are doing to themselves. Last game versus Buffalo and now Boston. It’s like the guys are just going through the motions.

There is no emotion, no urgency. It’s like let ‘s coast our way to the playoffs. Don’t look now, but instead of trying to climb, they had better try to keep off the Rangers. They gained another point tonight and are now only 2 points back. If the Habs don’t kick it in gear they still could miss the playoffs, unlikely but still plausible. I would be trying to catch Tampa Bay now, forget the Bruins.

To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.

  50. Montrealer2 says:

what makes this team be so pathetic then raise everyones hoopes with a good effort they were not even in this game at all and noone really seemed to care

  51. rob_c says:

    Gomez is cancer on skates.

  52. RetroMikey says:

Get me a bucket…..I’m gonna throw up.
Not a good time to play inconsistent hockey this time in the season and the million dollar smurfs are not performing to their expectations.
Second blowoout to Boston….I’d be concerned.

    • HotHabs says:

when was the first blowout? the 8-6 game? it was bad, but not a blowout. then I guess you could say the 4-1 mtl win was a blowout win.

Just to be clear, I agree that they are playing piss-poor hockey right now and it’s a horrible way to go into the post season.

  53. DOAHABS says:

I didn’t bother watching & now I’m glad I didn’t. So the habs didn’t even show up ,?? I bet Martin still did his best to emulate a Cigar Store Indian. that guy just doesn’t have any emotion at all. How did he ever get picked to screw up this team.? Yikes,we are introuble ,unless Montreal is going to drive to 8th place & fight everday until maybe making the playoffs,.i hate this type of hockey.but it’s all just spilt milk now I guess. We are destined for another ‘rebuilding’ term of 5 years before we even come close to the real silverware.I hope I see at least one more Stanley Cup in my lifetme, but it’s looking mighty grim.

  54. observer says:

Philly shutout Habs 3 times in playoffs. Habs lost last 2 in shutouts. Scored 8 goals against a Wild team who didn’t show up but Subban got 3 and big scorers just are not producing. Grabovski has 28 goals, Sergi Kostitsyn scored 2 more tonight, D’agostini has about 20 goals Gauthier/Gainey got ZILCH for them.

  55. Ian Cobb says:

    J. Martin gives Hab’s 2nd day off in a row!!

Sure hope the boy’s appreciates the time off, so they can practice in earnest tomorrow, Getting ready for the Capitals.

If you think Geoff Molson and Gauthier were not watching, think again!! Something will be coming down.!

  56. WindsorHab-10 says:

wonder what excuses the team will use for this embarrassing effort. 35yrs of watching Habs hockey, I don’t recall an uglier game. So much hype so little to show for it.

    • mb says:

Hah, if they manage to find any valuable excuse for this one… I guess I underestimated their imagination. Seriously, I always tend to see the bright side of things, but tonight, it was just AWFUL.

  57. Willy the bum says:

If I want to commit suicide, watching this game beats Justin Beiber’s Never Say Never movie, and I haven’t (and will never) seen that movie.

I’m sorry, but how does that happen? Who can actually score, for goodness sake? Habs got nothing, and both teams played fair and square without b*llsh*t brutality! This is the team we’re going for into the playoffs? It’s one game in a season, eh? Eat sh*t Habs, ’cause every game is crucial and every point counts. You Habs always must play with your hearts out until it bleeds, and your balls busting ’til you got nothing to jaggle with!

First flight back, MORNING BAG-SKATE!!! And no days offs for the rest of the season! Come on, wake up!

And Gomez, I’m sure to accept he’s on our team, but that game he’s like a CIA agent that got his cover blown and the terrorists just play along with him. Even I knew what his plays are, so I just hope that next game, SIT HIM OUT! Figure out some new plays while he’s on the pressbox, ’cause every team will know his every move. He’s just that predictable.

I don’t know about tonight, maybe I’ll just curl up in a fetal position while taking a shower.

    Alright, gimme some thumbs down….

  58. Edmaster says:

C’mon, this shouldn’t have been a total surprise for everyone. Yes, 7 – zip was nobody’s prediction but look at the facts. We went into their house, they were just as pumped, or more so, than what was expected of our Habs and we inserted four guys into our lineup who haven’t played in a while. Don’t forget we’ve been playing over our heads for most of this year. Markov, Georges, Spacek still out and a slew of others who I’m sure are not 100%. I was also hoping to pull one out tonight but the result is what it is. We need to now make the playoffs and huddle up in order to make any potential run like last year.
Note: Gomez was our best player tonight with only PK also playing well.

    Expos, please come home.

  59. DD says:

This might be a bad time to try and flog a ticket, but I have a gig booked for Saturday night, so I have to sell one ticket to the game against the Capitals. I paid $150 for it about 6 months ago. It’s in the 300′s and there will be fellow HIO alumni there, who will be seated in the same row, so you won’t be all alone.

I will be in Montreal tomorrow, if anyone is interested, let me know.

A bad one that I shut off at 3-0, my father called and asked if I was watching, I said no. BOS just scored on the 2 man advantage. 7-0 is a beat down in Beantown by the Hometown, in the Gahden.

OK it is either BOS is falling into The Trap (by Martin & co.). Make your opponent (when it counts) think you are weak. Strike when it counts, when the heart is exposed (Playoffs!!!)

Or I took the wrong color pill.

I also said that tonight would be ” THE GREATEST HABS EMBARRASSMENT” …. IT WAS!!!!!!!!!!!

PATHETIC…. I’ve been saying this for the last 2 1/2 years, we need to bolster this lineup…

DD? is that fun over yet? 5’2″?? on a team wrought with undersized players? Pouliot tripping over his shadow? PLEKS on the point??? what is wrong with you MARTIN???? where the heck is PK on the PP? why isn’t KOSTY with CAMM… it goes on and on and it starts with PG…. ELLER? please, he is a wet noodle out there, where is he going against a Norton type? come back in about 3 years when you can shave…

its one thing to lose, but “beatings are coming”… and to take them and not have any character….oh well….

let me end with a few positives: Gomez showed alot of heart, Kosty had moments as did PK…. I don’t know what else to say.
