The Canadiens are back at the Bell Centre for their first game since Max Pacioretty’s injury, welcoming the Washington Capitals to town for a 7 pm start.

The Capitals are the hottest team in the National Hockey League, having won eight straight games.

The Canadiens are also enjoying somewhat of a roll, winning six of their last seven games.

  1. fbkj says:

    … where were…

    the player benches..?

  2. SeriousFan09 says:

Congratulations are in order I suppose sir.

    - I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.

  3. observer says:

oh yes it was!  he could not move! even on tv ive seen this before as they happened – dennis byrd of the ny jets, some detroit lton lineman forget his name, and when it seems they cannot move a muscle the biggest danger is damage to the spinalcord and pacioretty did sustain a fracture of his vertebrae which luckily was not displaced and damaged the spinal cord. i havw never seen or heard of a player paralyzed because of a concussion, i was terrified when i saw him lying there even just from my tv. people at the rink even more shaken.

  4. petefleet says:

Bruce Boudreau has every reason in the world to say what he said about the Chara hit.  His team was ousted last year unceremoniously by the Habs and he himself was not good enough to play for the Habs.  The hate for the Habs runs deep so I don’t put too much credence into anything he says about the Habs.

    ***Habs Forever***

  5. Miltie01 says:

I remember that…..vicious elbow, right to the head.

By the way,  Habs fans and the media shrugged it off and said you guessed it……the elbow didn’t hurt him, the stanchion did……..the more things change……

  6. ed lopaz says:

Eller is a pure center – he was totally out of his element as a winger.

Can you imagine if we moved Plekanec or Gomez to wing?

How about moving them to wing during their rookie season?

Asking Eller to play wing was a mistake – pure and simple.

Its not the first mistake JM will make, and it won’t be his last.

Habs hockey is “smart” hockey – we play 5 man defence, not just 2 – we move up the ice as a 5 man unit, we back check with 5.

  7. DavidKB says:

Right! If you can’t make your point without cursing then shut the #$%& up!

  8. CanadienBoy says:

Just think “Baby Born at Habs game “”

  9. fbkj says:

youd know if you actually lived here, till then, im not telling

  10. Mattyleg says:

    They will be!

Maybe not until tomorrow or so…

But I’ll be handing out cigars on HI/O when the little blighter finally comes along (he’s 10 days overdue…)

    Thanks a lot, mate!

  11. Psycho29 says:

    Halak is no Reimer!

  12. Scotiamatt says:

Go to the game with her, with seats like that Dr. Mulder can’t be to far away. congrats… enjoy!

  13. LA Loyalist says:

Eller has started to show some moves RECENTLY – but he should have been in Hamilton this year.

He would have had more ice time and it would have helped his confidence.

  14. Bill J says:

    Nice one! lol

  15. observer says:

Rocket Richard scored 50 in a 50 game season.

  16. Psycho29 says:

I’m going to go out on a limb and….I’m only guessing….but probably…on opposite sides!

Also, there was no glass back then, only chicken wire at the ends of the rink. Maybe we should go back to that…

  17. observer says:

And he didn’t even use a mask.

  18. HalifaxHabs says:

    Sad AND Pathetic

  19. PuckHead72 says:

No you’re right you should call the police.

  20. andrewberkshire says:

If it was up to me, that would be a season long suspension. Brutal, brutal hit. And intent to injure the whole way.

  21. Propwash says:

    Highly doubt it.

  22. Bill J says:

    :P lol

  23. HalifaxHabs says:

lol… you are so just trying to start an Eller fight

this debate was Price vs Halak, only one guy mentioned Eller, and even he only referenced his recent play, but then you started in with “started to show some moves RECENTLY”, eventhough the guy said recently already.

oh man that’s some good afterwork laughs.

  24. Mark C says:

Oh Tony, the gap between their SV%’s this season is wider than the Grand Canyon. Can we put this debate on ice at least until Halak’s a top 20 goalie again.

  25. observer says:

    Not back in Hainsworth’s day.

  26. fbkj says:

    holy crap your lost

  27. The Cat says:

The Cat’s Tale O’ The Tape: Habs are 10-7-1 with 2 days off and  8-4-2 on Tuesdays. Caps are 22-9-5 with 1 day off and 4-2-4 on Tuesdays…

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  28. pmaraw says:

so we play more on tuesday?

  29. zak says:

I’d like to see fans stay away from the games sso every teams arenas would look like the ones in Atl, Phoenix, Fla. etc. Think they’d get the message then? I get every game on RDS for 7.00 a month. Great cheap season tickets.

  30. Ian Cobb says:

I agree Bill, just a great hit!

  31. pmaraw says:

bob mckenzie just said it was 24-6 vote by gm’s in favouring not suspending chara…  how do sheep get such good jobs?

  32. andrewberkshire says:

  33. Rightwing says:

“If you don’t like it, don’t come to the game!!”

      — Who said this today, talking about the Chara hit on Pacioretty?

  34. Mike D says:

LOL – that’s the truth.  Thanks Shiram.

    - Honestly yours

  35. The Cat says:

Im not sure I get what youre saying. But Montreal have played the bulk of their games on Saturday and Tuesdays and Thursdays.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

    and bruce boudreau…

  38. ZepFan2 says:

Jacques Plante used a mask. Back in the day.

  39. canadiens26 says:

    A fat slob.

  40. observer says:

exactly maybe after 6 years reimer will be as good as price. i know even with that bad game last night he in his rookie year did better than price did last year in his 4th year. much better – a winning not a losing record

  41. shuttle-lemaire-lafleur says:

Nice shot Ian..CP is only going to get better…

  42. Ian Cobb says:

Reimer and Halak is no Cary Price.!

  43. PuckHead72 says:

HAHAHA. Are there going to be extra cops on hand for the game tonight in case anyone from the Habs gets checked into the boards? (that the Bell Centre still refuses to change by the way.) listen to all the clowns talking about burning Don Cherry pictures tonight!! How about the whining babies complaining about the 24-6 vote by the GM’s not to suspend Chara!! Was there a poll taken when Pacioretty took 15 strides and crushed Marc Eaton directly from behind into the boards? Yeh didn’t think so> How do you say hypocrite in French?? Anyone?… Anyone?…

  44. observer says:

    just stating the truth.

  45. Rightwing says:

This is a rather odd comment for a coach coming into the Centre Bell to make.

He also asked how would fans feel if it were Hal Gill as the offending party.

Gee, I wonder how often Bruce is objectively, publicly critical of his own players when they are out of line on nasty hits?

  46. Habsman93 says:

Just have to mention this my Dad’s cousin played for the Habs Joe (The Phantom) Malone and he scored 44 goals in 22 games. It was the Rocket who broke Malone’s record for most goals in a season and Malone is also the only player in the NHL who scored seven goals in one game

  47. canadiens26 says:

Why don’t you come up with something original to say? I understand it’s easier for your weak mind to write the same thing over and over but new ideas might widen your horizon.

It’s okay to hate, us Hab fans understand that the best teams in sports are always the first to get bashed.

  48. Everlasting1 says:

The ‘broken neck’ will heal long before the concussion.

  49. DrewCareyPriceIsRight says:

FYI, hypocrite in French is “PuckHead72″…but be careful with the pronounciation because the P is a soft P and sounds more like an F…go ahead try it!

  50. Ian Cobb says:

I am on board, if it was 1st suspension, minimum 10 games, 2nd time, the season.

  51. fbkj says:

although i agree it was a goal, it is a rule thats in the books, puck went in after the whistle, we got burned on a non goal the same fashion against pittsburgh in the not so distant past…

  52. fbkj says:

i guess phoenix is leading the charge ;)

  53. fbkj says:

of course its not as easy to win some when the largest player in the league is guiding your head into the stanchion not giving you a choice but to get injured badly due to bad blood but hey… whatever floats your boat

ps: your avatar pic is pretty choice, considering the hit put patches mm’s away from paralysis as the best case scenario, depending on how much the movie monkey shines makes your skin crawl

  54. habs63 says:

Mike Murphy made another terrible call. That was a clear goal. I’ll take it though. Still doesn’t make up from last week.

  55. fbkj says:

yes because police have never been involved in hockey plays

    not the mcsorley* one

    not the bertuzzi one

    not the cormier one

not even patrick roy’s plucky little sons one

but of course had a bruin been indicted perhaps youd remember and have some more insight right?

  56. Bill J says:

    Woah!!!! Slow down Ian.

Let’s not compare THAT to this.

    Not even CLOSE.

  57. fbkj says:

    i was going to say

  58. Ian Cobb says:

As long as Betman or Cherry are not going!

  59. andrewberkshire says:

  60. fbkj says:

apparantly he broke his neck and is concussed

  61. Ian Cobb says:

How many games does Larry Robinson get for this.?

  62. Ian Cobb says:

Now, does Chelios get a game misconduct.?? For this!

  63. Bill J says:

If those two show up in Montreal tonight, YES it could get messy.

I highly doubt those two show up in Montreal anytime soon.

If they do, seriously it would be the dumbest move they have ever made.

  64. fbkj says:

  65. The Cat says:

Talk about idiotic. They review it, only to go with the ref intended to blow the whistle angle. You can see the refs will do what they can for a habs win tonight.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  66. Captain aHab says:

The reason the stanchions are still in is because the Habs plan to run Ovenchicken into one tonight since it’s apparently OK.

  67. canadiens26 says:

I agree. What happened to the good old days when people could get their point across without swearing?

  68. Ian Cobb says:

They are both so arrogant, I would not put it past them.

  69. Muckbringer says:

even though i agree that was a goal, what gets me more is the fact that the first thing the tsn panel talks about the call.  once again, if it was against our favour, nothing would have been said.

  70. The Cat says:

Too much foul language on the forum lately.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  71. DrewCareyPriceIsRight says:

yep – this is good ol’ bruce when he goes out with the boys after the game.

  72. ZepFan2 says:

MaxPac going to the game tonight:

“Going to the game tonight to show the boys some support.. going to be good to see everyone again.”

What a fcking stud this kid is!
