The Canadiens are back at the Bell Centre for their first game since Max Pacioretty’s injury, welcoming the Washington Capitals to town for a 7 pm start.

The Capitals are the hottest team in the National Hockey League, having won eight straight games.

The Canadiens are also enjoying somewhat of a roll, winning six of their last seven games.

I agree. What happened to the good old days when people could get their point across without swearing?

  2. The Cat says:

Too much foul language on the forum lately.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  3. DrewCareyPriceIsRight says:

yep – this is good ol’ bruce when he goes out with the boys after the game.

MaxPac going to the game tonight:

“Going to the game tonight to show the boys some support.. going to be good to see everyone again.”

  8. Mark C says:

The reason he’s been in the league a lot longer is because he’s a lot better.

  9. LA Loyalist says:

irony is often ironic. Which is why it’s ironic.

  10. observer says:

halak was always the better of the 2 as you saw every time one or the other played and their records, so  with this new improved habs team, who knows how mucher higher the habs would be in the standings if halak had this team in front of him? possibly first overall?

  11. fbkj says:

this discussion was brought to you buy

    not that night

man I really hope I don’t spill Coke on the keyboard again and get CAPLOCK STUCK…

  16. Flex Aarnell says:

Yes, we definitely kept the wrong guy. And Eller has really sucked recently too.

  19. lavie says:

Anybody has the update on MaxPac’s recovery?

  20. shiram says:

How about people not get swept up in crowd mentality and just protect peacefully.

Would be ironic to have a protest against violence in hockey, end in violence on the street.

  21. Ian Cobb says:

If you are going to the protest rally before the game tonight, you had better check this out first.!

  22. ClaytonM says:

I could never cheer for a team whose fans get excited when they cross centre ice

    Ken Dryden For NHL Commissioner

  23. Ian Cobb says:

Maybe we would be out of the play offs my friend.!

  24. ClaytonM says:

Sure, you say that now, but what about way back when Gomez was lighting it up and we had no spot open for a centre?

    Ken Dryden For NHL Commissioner

  25. wotever says:

    ObHockey: I got nothin’.

    It’s just a game.

  26. observer says:

Newsy Lalonde scored 37 goals in 23 games for the Habs one year.

  27. _Habsoloutly_ says:

    You’re an idiot.

  28. Mark C says:

Price is only half a year older than Reimer. Here’s an idea, maybe Carey Price is way better than James Reimer? Price was putting up great to so-so NHL seasons while Reimer was in the ECHL at the same age.

  29. observer says:

Getting Eller is turning out to be a great move as the kid at center is finding himself. I said not in June but 2 years before A TEAM DOES NOT NEED 2 #1 GOALIES- END OF STORY TRADE ONE OR THE OTHER FOR QUALITY AND DO IT WHEN YOU CAN GET THE MOST. But gauthier not only said he liked having both goalies the spring before as he took over he doesnt trade either then and waits for the summer BUT NOT THE NHL MEETIJNGS to rush a deal for the best goalie of last years playoffs. people just think habs should have got more. we will see – eller is starting to like very decent.

  30. ed lopaz says:

why didn’t they make Eller the #3 center behind Plekanec and Gomez from day 1?

Habs hockey is “smart” hockey – we play 5 man defence, not just 2 – we move up the ice as a 5 man unit, we back check with 5.

  31. SeriousFan09 says:

    The KHL Report:

G Karri Ramo seems to need a kick in the ass now and then to get himself going.

In the longest overtime game in KHL history, 104 minutes, 39 seconds (Triple OT), Avangard Omsk won 3-2 to tie their series with Metallurg Magnitogorsk, two likely future HHOF players represented on both teams, Jaromig Jagr for Avangard and Sergei Fedorov for Metallurg. Ramo made 47 stops through the match.

D Alexei Yemelin will live a little longer in the playoffs, Ak Bars Kazan rallied today and collected their first win in the series, ensuring at the least, they will not be swept, still down 3-1 in the series of course.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.

  32. observer says:

price is talented. he is also in his 5th year in the league not 2 months.

  33. observer says:

    Not back in Hainsworth’s day.

  34. fbkj says:

    holy crap your lost

  35. The Cat says:

The Cat’s Tale O’ The Tape: Habs are 10-7-1 with 2 days off and  8-4-2 on Tuesdays. Caps are 22-9-5 with 1 day off and 4-2-4 on Tuesdays…

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  36. pmaraw says:

so we play more on tuesday?

  37. pmaraw says:

bob mckenzie just said it was 24-6 vote by gm’s in favouring not suspending chara…  how do sheep get such good jobs?

  38. Rightwing says:

“If you don’t like it, don’t come to the game!!”

      — Who said this today, talking about the Chara hit on Pacioretty?

  39. Mike D says:

LOL – that’s the truth.  Thanks Shiram.

    – Honestly yours

  40. The Cat says:

Im not sure I get what youre saying. But Montreal have played the bulk of their games on Saturday and Tuesdays and Thursdays.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  41. DrewCareyPriceIsRight says:

    and bruce boudreau…

  42. canadiens26 says:

    A fat slob.

  43. shuttle-lemaire-lafleur says:

Nice shot Ian..CP is only going to get better…

  44. PuckHead72 says:

HAHAHA. Are there going to be extra cops on hand for the game tonight in case anyone from the Habs gets checked into the boards? (that the Bell Centre still refuses to change by the way.) listen to all the clowns talking about burning Don Cherry pictures tonight!! How about the whining babies complaining about the 24-6 vote by the GM’s not to suspend Chara!! Was there a poll taken when Pacioretty took 15 strides and crushed Marc Eaton directly from behind into the boards? Yeh didn’t think so> How do you say hypocrite in French?? Anyone?… Anyone?…

  45. Rightwing says:

This is a rather odd comment for a coach coming into the Centre Bell to make.

He also asked how would fans feel if it were Hal Gill as the offending party.

Gee, I wonder how often Bruce is objectively, publicly critical of his own players when they are out of line on nasty hits?

  46. Habsman93 says:

Just have to mention this my Dad’s cousin played for the Habs Joe (The Phantom) Malone and he scored 44 goals in 22 games. It was the Rocket who broke Malone’s record for most goals in a season and Malone is also the only player in the NHL who scored seven goals in one game

  47. canadiens26 says:

Why don’t you come up with something original to say? I understand it’s easier for your weak mind to write the same thing over and over but new ideas might widen your horizon.

It’s okay to hate, us Hab fans understand that the best teams in sports are always the first to get bashed.

  48. DrewCareyPriceIsRight says:

FYI, hypocrite in French is “PuckHead72″…but be careful with the pronounciation because the P is a soft P and sounds more like an F…go ahead try it!

  49. DavidKB says:

I’ve seen the hit on Eaton.  15 strides would take Pacioretty and most other players twice around the rink… lots of time for Eaton to get out of the way. A “crushed” Eaton got up and skated off the ice. Pacioretty was penalized and the game went on. There are hypocrites everywhere. So what! Chara knew there was an increased risk of something bad happening when he hit Pacioretty. Unlike Patches, who clearly and immediately showed some regret on the Eaton hit, Chara skated away without looking back; he knew what he was doing.

  50. Mark C says:

Just great news! His post-concussion symptoms must be pretty weak or non-existent .

  51. ClaytonM says:

I was always curious where I’d seen Bruce Boudreau before, and now I know, thanks to your pic.

    Ken Dryden For NHL Commissioner

  52. _Habsoloutly_ says:

Hey look, another MORON who created an account just to troll Habs fans.  Must be one spectacular life you lead there dumbass.

  53. 1010 says:

Are we to look forward to GM’s taking and publishing polls after all head hits from now on? Whether or not the player is suspended?

Is Bob McKenzie going to deliver the results to us or will they be spreading this new system around?

    GO HABS…

  54. SeriousFan09 says:

  58. habstrinifan says:

  59. Say Ash says:

The over-under on the standing-o when they show Patches on the scoreboard? Four minutes: call it!

♪Your cares and troubles are gone. There’ll be no more from now on. From now on happy days are here again, the skies above are so clear again. So let’s sing a song of cheer again. Happy times, happy nights, happy days are here again♪

  62. PuckHead72 says:

The hit on Eaton is a hit that has paralyzed players in the past. Majority of players getting hit into the stanchion do not result in broken necks. Sucks for Pacioretty. But i guess under you’re reasoning he had plenty of time to realize where he was on the ice and get out of the way, right? PLayers know that if you’re gonna try to beat a defenseman in that area, there is a risk of getting pinned there. you win some, you lose some. Pacioretty lost that one. Sorry.

  63. PuckHead72 says:

What’s the over-under on how many fans have 911 on speed dial in case anyone gets checked?

  64. Mattyleg says:

“Turnbucklegate” has opened the asylum doors.

I’ve been staying away recently. Tired of the conspiracy theories, the “proof” of this and that.

    Boring and repetitive.

    And the swearing doesn’t help.

    —Hope Springs Eternal—

  65. Nahlsy says:

Bettman and his GMs decide on the Ides of March that even though 70-100 players per year get brain injuries they don’t feel the need to outlaw hits to the head.

And Nero fiddled as Rome burned.

  66. ooder says:

    what exactly is your point?

are you waiting for someone to die on the ice? is that when we will say: oops, maybe this game is a bit more physical then it needs to be

    GWG = game winning gionta!

  67. Mattyleg says:

So I just got offered 4 tickets to 6 rows up behind the Habs bench.

Problem is, my g/f is having contractions every 3.5 minutes.

She was insisting we go, but between a live Habs game fifteen feet away and my girlfriend on the brink of going into labour next to me… I’m sure I’d be the one that would be carted off to hospital.

    …aaaaand… CLEAR!! *zzzzzap!!*

    —Hope Springs Eternal—

  68. larisalapointe says:

    F**kez vous mon ami.

  69. DavidKB says:

    Ummm…? It’s 911. There’s a reason it’s only 3 digits. Too many for you to remember, eh!

  70. SeriousFan09 says:

Congratulations are in order I suppose sir.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.

  71. petefleet says:

Bruce Boudreau has every reason in the world to say what he said about the Chara hit.  His team was ousted last year unceremoniously by the Habs and he himself was not good enough to play for the Habs.  The hate for the Habs runs deep so I don’t put too much credence into anything he says about the Habs.
