Alex Kovalev has a flair for the dramatic.
Kovalev returned from an enforced two-game sabbatical and his strong two-way performance led the Canadiens to a 5-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
“I feel like I’ve just been traded to a new team,” said Kovalev, who had a goal and two assists for his first multiple-point game since he had a goal and an assist against Toronto on Dec. 20.
The Canadiens had a quick start and Kovalev, who received a loud ovation prior to the game, elicited chants of “Kovy, Kovy, Kovy” as he played a key role on the first two Montreal goals.
