The Canadiens announced on Wednesday afternoon that rookie Alex Galchenyuk is the Molson Cup winner for the month of January.
Galchenyuk was selected once as the first star of the game (Jan. 22 against Florida), and once as the second star (Jan. 29 against Winnipeg). He finished ahead of teammates Brendan Gallagher and Carey Price
The 18-year old Galchenyuk, selected with the No. 3 overall pick at last year’s NHL entry draft, appeared in six games in January, recording five points (one goal, four assists) and a plus-3. He served four penalty minutes while playing an average of 12:24 per game.
Galchenyuk will be presented with the Molson Cup during a ceremony before Wednesday’s game against the Boston Bruins at the Bell Centre (7:30 p.m., TSN, RDS, TSN 690 Radio).

Are you afraid of a hockey CRASH!
The anticipation for this game has me really keyed up. This is the fist game where that total hockey adrenalin has taken over my body… no ifs/why/or buts.
In fact it has me so into hockey that I started having this awful waking nightmare.
Has the thought crossed your mind? If HABS doesn’t make the playoffs (I am betting they will) that you will suffer the biggest hockey crash ever. There just isnt enough hockey in a 48 game schedule to avert that crash if we dont make the playoff.
Then I would be cussing Bettman/Fehr and the lockout.
So, how loud will the booing be for Chara tonight?

***SUBBANGIN’ NOW BABY!!!***
So Chucky will be presented a cup at the start of the game………but what happened to the whole “team” and “humble” garbage MT was talking about?
I understand it’s a tradition but there’s nothing “team” or “humble” about this, infact it’s probably the most individualistic and unmodest thing one could get.
MT is great for the short run but his act will wear out in the long.
Maybe it’s just a matter of time before MT bans this as well.
Would you like some cheese to go with that whine?
I kinda disagree with you on this one. But I would have given Markov the award. But then again the award is based on star selection it seems and since the fans pick the stars this will happen.
It was suggested to go back to the old way of picking the stars. Maybe they should have both..the fans pick after the game and maybe a ‘professional’ pick which would count in Molson Cup tally.
Don’t get too cocky rook.(joking)
Gally has played well but I think Markov should have got it
“Keep your stick on the Ice”
3 game winning goals in the first 4 games for Markov to start the the season, gotta agree.
I concur.
Plus Gally only plays 10 min a game and they pick when they don’t send them out in in zone face offs.
Don’t get me wrong I am really impressed with Gally just Markov and Price have been the best two players out of the gate

Look forward to this game more than the opener. As good a rivalry as there is in the NHL. No matter where either team is in standings the game is always special.
Jack Edwards or Joe Bowen.
Who’s the bigger homer?
Edwards.
Hockey-wise, they are equal.
Edwards gets the tie-breaker for his luv of bruins thuggery.

Could this not have been added into the Live Game Blog which is due to be posted in about 3 minutes?
Well deserved.
Nice!
