Flyers get Halaked

Antti Niemi made 32 saves – 15 in a frantic third period.

His D blocked 18 shots  – six by Duncan Keith.

And Ben Eager, of all people, scored the winner.

Game 2 looked like a Stanley Cup final.

72 hits.

Lots of nastiness.

And Chicago – 7-1 on the road in the playoffs – goes into Philly with a 2-0 lead.

Actually I watched every San Jose game this playoff. Thornton had a very good series against Detroit, and aside from that he was his usual craptastic self.

  3. Habhopeful says:

Heatley not so much because of his groin injury, but ya, you werent watching the San Jose games, Thornton, although -11 still played with intensity and played 10X better than his previous playofff performances, its besides the point because an injured heatley and or a Thornton, is still an upgrade on AK46

  4. andrewberkshire says:

Heatley showed up in different facets? When? Thornton did? When?

  5. crabvader says:

C’mon, Boone. Give Marcel some credit. He is a very good KHL player! 😛

  6. SeriousFan09 says:

And we drafted Marcel no less, instead of Volchenkov, Orpik, Frolov, Boyes, Samuelsson and Kronwall.

Wait a minute, why is it we’d want Andre Savard back again? That was his move, Marcel and Hainsey instead of those guys.

    …..or a one-way player. Sorry, couldn’t resist. I’ll shut up now.

  8. Habhopeful says:

but he had those three goals in one game…wheras the rest of the players you’ve mentioned have shown up in different facets of the game In just about very playoff game…not even a comparison really

    LOL!  Classic Boone.

  11. gmd says:

A lesson on locker and dressing rooms.  Why go to school when you can be educated by Cherry?

  12. Mike Boone says:

Right. At least Hossa can prevent goals and make accurate passes and read the play and .. Any comparison to AK46 is a total joke. Although Hossa’s brother sucks, too.

  13. andrewberkshire says:

I’m just saying. People knocked AK46’s production like mad this year, but he had more goals than Hossa, Heatley, Thornton and more. He was also tied with Hartnell before this series.

  14. SeriousFan09 says:

Yes but Hossa has an OT winner goal and has played great defence for the entire playoffs, Andrei is never going to be mistaken for a two-way player.

  15. andrewberkshire says:

Hey Mike, Hossa has fewer goals than AK46.

how the hell does the human rake not get a cross checking penalty nhl refs are blind works of art

  20. andrewberkshire says:

You know what I don’t understand? How the refs apparently don’t like Lapierre but they still fall for Carcillo’s dives all the time.

  21. gmd says:

Ha Carcillo was the one who hit Carter.

Still no penalties against Philly, if this were the Bell Centre the roof would of blown off by now

  24. Keith says:

Lots of hatred now. Like Big Hal Gill said, “It’s fun to hate the Flyers”.

  25. andrewberkshire says:

What do the Flyers have to do to get a penalty? They’re being treated like saints by the refs. 5th straight PP for the Flyers in this series.

  26. SeriousFan09 says:

They should glass up that between the benches area and fill it with water.

It really may be time for CBC to let go of Hockey in Canada and let TSN do it. It’s not just Bob Cole, it’s all of them (well Hughson is good, bring him over). It’s becoming an embarrassment.

Wow what a bad intro with the Phantom of the Opera.  Totally ruined it by going over the into put on by the Hawks organization.

  31. ddawwidd says:

What do they smoke at CBC? 😀 Few nights ago it was McLean in a rocking chair, now Cherry as Phantom of the Opera 😀 I like sense of humour, but it was 60’s freak movie style 😀

Bring back Zone de Match! 🙁

Slow night for the comments, you’d better ratchet up some controversy Boone!

  40. longtimehabsfan says:

Have the CBC feed on the laptop with the sound on and the HDTV big screen on NBC muted.  Finally saw the Burish hit on Krajcek on CBC.  Didn’t realize how vicious it was as NBC really didn’t give us a good look.  Boone is correct.  Should have been a major.
