The preliminaries are out of the way.
On to the main event.
Tonight in Philadelphia, the Canadiens will play a team that is, like they, a bona-fide Eastern Conference contender.
Some previews:
• Canadiens have playoff loss to avenge.
• Carey Price is confident.
• François Gagnon‘s take.
• Flyers hurting on D.
• Philadelphia Bulletin looks at the Flyers
• At least we’ll be spared Sarah Palin
• Globe and Mail feature on Canadian teams subsidizing weak U.S. franchises.
• Stephen Brunt on the NHL’s shaky finances.
• Don’t hold your breath on seeing this in Montreal: Florida Panthers ticket giveaway.

Jeez es,JUST 19,sad sad sad news.I feel for his family, friends and fans.Poor Jagr feel for him too!
19 years old. With that much talent and potential, thats simply robbery. Very Unfortunate.
You tell it like it is.
Hockey is a sport for tough people… but no matter how tough you are, a good hit will nudge a heart valve out of place to cause something like this… Sad story for hockey.
Hopefully all hockey leagues learn something from this.

happy birthday!
"According to initial reports, The young forward unexpectedly collided with his teammate during the line change. Soon after a 19-year-old hockey player’s heart stopped, and he was sent to the resuscitation.Alex Ovejtkin blog translates a story from Russia…via Puck Daddy,
Dmitry Chesnokov of SovSport, who writes:
Cherepanov is dead. He collapsed on the bench on the 18th minute of the third period in the game against Vityaz Chekhov after a collision with Jaromir Jagr [his teammate on Omsk in the KHL]. He went to the bench and his heart stopped. He was taken to the emergency room at a local hospital where the best doctors in town worked for about an hour trying to resuscitate him.I honestly have no idea what to say.
This is just so devastating, so young.
An absolute tragedy.
Awful, shocking news.
Contrast that to when Trent McCleary took the puck in the throat and they had the police escort for the ambulance to the hospital.
Russia’s a glorified third world country.
Why any NHL calibre player with options would want to play there is beyond me.
Pierre McGuire on the Team 990 just said that the Ambulance left the arena and took 15 minutes to get back when the incident happened, and that the defibrillators in the arena might not have been working properly. what a tragedy.
I just saw that. Terrible news.
By the sounds of how it is written, he might have had a fighting chance had he been in an NHL arena. The KHL is a dubious league – no ambulance on hand, no defribs, 15 minutes to hospital!
Sounds like a heart condition.

they were unable to revive him. Poor kid. Thoughts go out to his family.
That’s not good.

Sounds like money well spent by the laffs.

Happy birthday.
You can get the streamed game from myp2p.com but you will need to download sopcast and the VLC video codec to be able to watch it. The quality is not that great though.
Recently I have been using hockeystreams.com to watch the games and that is pretty good. It is $10/month or $20 for 3 months. The quality is better than the SopCast and all the games are archived. So I watched the Habs/leafs game on Sunday morning.

Fate leads the willing, and drags along the reluctant.
All I wish for today is a Riders win and a Habs win. It’s my birthday, I deserve it.
It’s not just not liking Hollweg as an opponent, I don’t know why anyone would like him if he was playing for their team. He is, IMHO, the most useless player in the NHL. He hurts his own team about ten to fifteen times more than he ever does something to help the team.
Ryan Hollweg just suspended *again* (his second this young season). This time for three games. When he checked St. Louis Blues Pietrangelo from behind in an afternoon game today. He recieved a game misconduct, which resulted in an automatic suspension of two games, but because its his second offense, it goes up one game with each additional game misconduct.
I personally NEVER liked Hollweg, even when we was in NY. Dirty player, through and through.
on a side note, the laffs were beating the blues 3-0 this afternoon after the first period. Then hollweg who just served a 2 game suspension for boarding just took another 5 min major and game misconduct for boarding. Five minutes later in the second it is now 3-3. I love it
I hate the Flyers and everything they’ve “brought” to hockey. Win this one, boys! And please, don’t get hurt…

NHL Center Ice is doing a free preview till Wednesday. Where are you and what type of cable do you have. Worse comes to worse hit a sports bar and ask to put it on center ice for the preview. Anyone with a digital package should get the channel.
Anyone know of a place I can watch the game online down here in the States?
NHL GameCenter was free this weekend but that is over now.

Biron was kinda shaky in the last game against the Rangers he let 4 out of 14 shots in a span of like 15 minutes…and he was pulled! IT’S REVENGE TIME!!! Tonight’s game will be something worth watching! He’s back in the nets and our one and only Price!
The man moves fast: Flyers acquire defensemen Andrew Alberts from the Bruins.

Tonight’s game would have been even more special if De Rock was playing tonight. It would of set the Physical tone for the remainder of our games against Philly.
” Drive is on for Cup # 25 “
Biron got pulled in the first period of their last game, i dont know if it was because of his play or injury
We really need to beat the Philadelphia F. Flyers tonight, that playoff series was so frustrating I want it purged from my memory with a good blowout.
Couldn’t agree more, I think a blowout is in order to show Philly that the Habs have again come to play and that Price has put last year’s weak second round behind him.
Downie’s confirmed to play for the Flyers tonight, so I’ll be praying that Laraque’s groin miraculously heals by gametime so he can step up to that career-killing bozo….
Anyone notice how few comments are being posted this year so far. I thought there would be alot, especially after our first game, but nope. Is there an Arby’s roastbeef sale going on or what.
More than 800 comments on the Canadiens-Leafs live blog Saturday night.
Nothing wrong with that.
this game tonight is going to be something … agree with one of the previous comments, gotta beat them.
it seems biron was pulled out due to allowing several goals on a few shots … Carey Price is going to have to stand strong !
hahaha!
Bankrupt bank arena…
wait, that’s not funny, we’re in big trouble.. on the other hand; Why so serious? mwahahahaha
Empty Netters .. by Seth Rorabaugh (Tidbits) .. an excerpt .. Ex Hab’s Richard Zednik’s 1st game since ….. Saturday marked the first time Zednik had played in a regular season game since his carotid artery was severed by a teammate’s skate blade in a game Feb. 10 at Buffalo.
”You could hear the people,” Zednik said. “It was really nice.” .. and much more ….. http://community.post-gazette.com/blogs/emptynetters/archive/2008/10/13/those-thrashers-jerseys-don-t-look-all-that-bad-any-more-10-13-08.aspx ……………………. BREAKING NEWS : Bruin’s Trade ‘D’ to Flyers .. Bruin’s Blog …. Andrew Alberts has been traded to Philadelphia for Ned Lukacevic and a conditional 2009 fourth-round pick. If Alberts re-signs with Philly, the fourth-rounder becomes a third-round pick. (Alberts 1.4 million).
Saturday might have been Zednik’s 1st HOME game since the accident, but it was not his 1st game; he played Friday night in Carolina, and looked like he hadn’t lost much.
Yeah, a good blowout WOULD apease the pain of losing to Philly last year but still, we must consider that we SWEEPED’em last year, with half of the games BEING blowouts and they still wiped us out in the playoffs no matter how better than them we played.
I want revenge in April, not October.
IF ya know what I mean…
I want the Priceberg to make’em REGRET ever thinking that they could EVEN play the game in April, not October.
IF ya sees what I is sayin’.
Heck, I want blowouts EVERY game.
Peace Out.

The Teacher had a mild case of laryngitis.
Don’t you mean arthritis?
Don’t you mean too-hammered-to-type-itis?
Price will let in one goal max tonight. Revenge from the playoffs and Halak did well last time out.
