Tony Salmelainen, whom the Canadiens acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks in June for forward Sergei Samsonov before buying out his contract, joined the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday. The winger signed a one-year, two-way contract.
The native of Finland scored six goals and 17 points in 57 games with Chicago last season.
