This from TSN’s Bob McKenzie via Twitter: All indications are that goaltender Dan Ellis will be going to market tomorrow. Doesn’t preclude MTL as a destination, but opens it up.
Bettman wont allow it. Don Cherry would have a problem with it. And Pierre McGuire would sy ” I have nothing against the sumo.. I think he is a fine fellow.. but he has no lateral game.
Why would he accept an offer? Because there are a crapload of free agent goaltenders this year who are a lot more proven than Ellis, and who wouldn’t be that much more expensive. And there are only a small handful of teams who are likely looking for a starting goaltender.
Supply is FAR greater than demand for goaltenders this year. It is definitely his prerogative to wait and test the market, but accepting a reasonable offer from Mtl before tomorrow is, in my view, more prudent than holding out for a little bit more, and risking getting left out in the cold. Or accepting whatever scraps get thrown his way in September.
Last time I checked neither Boyd nor Ellis was a member of the Habs. Neither will sign as it is in their interest to go the FA route. It is doubtful Gauthier can compete due to cap constraints – thank you Bob. Gauthier is creating the illusion of being active through his smoke and mirrors charade. The bottom line – he has traded Halak and SK74 for some prospect with the Blues. Job well done ???.
I see M Boone has not lost his edge in the off season. I saw where he has to take one last shot at SK74 as he leaves town – Nice touch Mike. If he really had some cajones he would direct his pen to Gainey, JM and PG. Those guys surely warrant some of Mike’s attention.
One last question – what is the over/under for when Price enters rehab for a drinking problem.?
She played a total of two preseason games. It was later acknowledged by General Manager Phil Esposito that he did it as a publicity stunt for his Lightning expansion team.
Hockey Inside/Out encourages lively debate, but there is a zero-tolerance policy regarding racism, profanity and behaviour that we deem to be offensive.
We will, without warning, ban those who do not abide by this simple rule, so as to maximize the enjoyment of readers and participants of both sexes and all ages.
Boo … I don’t like it. You would get a guy with all of the what we used to do’s when I was almost captain of the team.

I like to look at it as we acquired a 1st and 3rd rounder for Halak. Not bad at all.

If we had did this (Ellis and Boyd) with Cammi last year, would you have believed he would have signed here or tried out FA?
I think we know the answer!

Vestiare also tweets that the account is fake. Thanks!

This is a terrible line-up. I would never take Kovalchuk, not even if a Fantasy Draft in NHL10, NOT EVEN in a hockey pool.
relax folks.. just wishful thinkin or suggestive hoping
Bozongas, bonads and bozmatos are also O.K.

Never judge another man’s decision poor until you actually have proof of it failing!
lol i actually found it funny seeing everyone freaking out over it.
I remember this! How many games did she play for Tampa?
What made you pick Bonnie Lindros?
While I disagree that Price is “unproven”, signing Ellis would indeed be nice

Or screaming “Hi” to your friend “Jack” at an airport.
While I like Hockeybuzz, take what you read there with a grain of salt. The vast majority of it is speculation but still fun to read
