Habs Inside/Out, on behalf of our growing family, extends its deepest sympathies to former Canadiens captain Pierre Turgeon, who early Thursday morning lost his 18-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, in a tragic road accident in New Mexico.
Elizabeth was one of Pierre and Elisabeth Turgeon’s four children. The Gazette’s Ian MacDonald profiled the former Canadien last month.
And here’s a January 2008 Gazette feature on Elizabeth.

wow – I have tears in my eyes for pierre and his family, what a tragic loss. may the good lord bless you all….

Daughter of Pierre Turgeon killed in crash
Awful news, and my heartfelt condolences go out to the Turgeon family. Nothing in this world is more tragic than the loss of one’s child.
For all of those that might be travelling at this busy time of year, please go safely. For the students out there, who are so often on the move at this time of year, please remember that nobody will be upset if you are a day late for a return home or a return to school due to inclimate weather. Take an extra day and get back safely!
Hug your kids and make good memories.
It could happen to any of us.
My deepest sympathies to the entire Turgeon family.
So sad.

Every day is a gift, live it that way.
so close to Christmas, makes you stop and think for a minute, how prescious life is and how we should treat every day …not as if its our last, but as if its our first!!!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with the Turgeon family.
Pierre will be remembered for skating with the torch at the closing of The Forum.
Terrible news. The losing of a child is easily the biggest fear of any parent. My heart goes out to the family.

My deepest sympathies to the Turgeon family.
Devastating news, deepest condolences to the family and friends of Elisabeth Turgeon.
You are a wise man Ian. Very well-said. Condolences to the family.
Lost my Dad the same way 40 years ago – it takes years to get over something like that. As hard as it was for us kids then, it must be far, far worse to lose a child. And she leaves behind a twin. Ian said it best – hug your family – they are gifts which cannot be replaced.
So very very sorry to hear this news. Thoughts and prayers to the Turgeon family. My heart hurts just thinking about it. :’(
Terrible, terrible time for the Turgeon family and friends.
May they have the strength to get through this tragedy at a time where holidays are supposed to be a happy time.
My thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences go out to them.
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
god that’s awful losing a daughter, but worse around the holidays… RIP
Terrible, terrible news on this holiday. I can’t even imagine how they must feel, and now knowing that EVERY x-mas season is an anniversary of this tragic event.
EVERYONE have a safe and merry Christmas…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
I don’t know what it is but it seems so many tragic events happen around this time of year. The season seems to take its toll on people. My deepest sympathies to the Turgeon family.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Can’t think of anything worse than losing a child especially at Christmas. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Turgeon family.

There is nothing, with the exception of my condolences to the Turgeon family, that I can say that hasn’t already been said. Losing a family member is tragic, especially at this time of the year, and especially because the young lady was just 18. I do hope the Turgeon’s are able to pull through, and know that they have the support and best wishes of a million+ people.
Oh, how awful. My heart goes out to them.
Condolences to the Turgeon family.
Too young to go, RIP. Christmas will never be the same again for them. Keep em in your prayers.
Terrible tragedy. Condolences to Pierre and his family at such a difficult time.
