Carbonneau wary of ‘Canes wide-open style of play

The Gazette’s Pat Hickey writes that the Carolina Hurricanes play an aggressive game that relies on puck control and they have done plenty of that during their last two games against Toronto and Ottawa. The Canadiens are aware of that and coach Guy Carbonneau said he wants to avoid the same mistake the Ottawa Senators made.

“I watched the Ottawa game and it was a strange one,” Carbonneau said. “You had two offensive teams going at each other and there was a lot of end-to-end skating. We can’t get into a game like that. We have to avoid mistakes and we have to be sharp when we’re moving the puck. They have an aggressive forecheck, but we were able to beat them in their home opener by making sure we made good first passes and got the puck out of our zone.”
