Caps on Grey Cup; Habs’ week ahead

The Canadiens are skating today, but it’s unlikely that the word “bag” is associated with this one unless you’re talking about the freebies some contest winners are holding.

It’s Skate With The Canadiens at the Bell Centre for winners of a team contest. The Habs return to practice ice tomorrow at the Bell Centre, not Brossard, then split the rest of their day between the team’s annual blood-donor clinic and the funeral service for late coach Pat Burns. The week ahead: home Wednesday to Edmonton, in New Jersey on Thursday and home Saturday for a 2 pm matinée against San Jose.

A fun piece sent to us today by our old friend Ben Raby: the Washington Capitals weigh in to pick their winner in today’s 98th Grey Cup game between the Montreal Alouettes and Saskatchewan Roughriders.

(Think they’re glued to their sets in Dog River, Sask.? And if you have to ask where that is, you’re sadly not a fan of Corner Gas.)

Travis Moen knows about Dog River.

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

But Travis told me that, given a choice, he’d date Karen, not Lacey. That’s one very, very tough decision. From my preseason feature:

If Moen could date Lacey, Karen or Wanda, the show’s female stars with
whom he hung out 12 hours for his 90 seconds of screen time? “Karen,” he
jokes of the policewoman played by Tara Spencer-Nairn. “Cool
    personality, a good-looking lady.”

Chuck, good read on Price, but do you really think he let that goal go in to let Geo be 1st star. That goal didn’t have much room to go in,I think he didn’t see it.But if he did do that for his team mate my hat is off to him.

GO ALS GO!!!!   AC is on the verge of being the best QB in the League and you don’t get there by fluke He off all people as a QB can read defenses like no other. As long as the field is not slippery and the Als Recievers can get down the field AC will get them the ball. Als defense is a very fierce bunch. pin yours ears back and get on them. Durant will be scrambling and if the Als can do that and force the throws, then the Als will be okay.

To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.

    Go, Riders, Go!

Hollywood couldn’t have scripted this more dramatically. The Riders’ centennial season has them facing a nemesis in the championship game, with no reason to hope for a victory other than the unwavering support of the best fans of any sports team, anywhere – EVER. (This, from a lifelong Habs fan; “Habs Nation”, if I may, is hardly chopped liver; still, no real comparison exists to the phenomenon that is Riderville.)

Heading to Old Orchard on De La Montagne to watch the game! GO ALS!

Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.

  9. habsgod says:

if the alouettes get durant scrambling they will be in for a very long day, darian durant is the best double threath quarterback in the league ,we have the 2 best recievers in the league in fantuz and dressler as well so the alouettes defence will be in tough and darian durant will light them up for over 400 yards passing as well!

     GO RIDERS GO!

Cherry’s I hate everything Montreal rant is just the grumblings of an old man who’s 10 years past his prime. I have to admit I grew up with the man..liked him, listened to his words as gospel, bought his video tapes and watched grapevine. Cherry is just bitter because his leafs suck and the Canadiens don’t. His inner circle is going to have to rein him in regarding P.K. due to the fact that he sounds racist and that kind of attitude is no longer exceptable. I think it’s more of the fact the he hates Montreal so much and it burns him up that P.K. is out there playing exceptionally well night after night and captain Dion just sucks. Cherry didn’t even want to do the Hab highlights but he did it then went on to mollycoddle the leaf faithful so they could go to sleep and dream about Stanley Cups or at the very least the 1st round of the playoffs. How much time does the old man have behind the camera anyway? It’s just a matter of time before somebody retires him just for the fact that his big mouth could ruin his own legacy and that would be a shame.

    Go Habs Go!!
