Yeah, that’s what you leafs said last year.

And the year before that, and the one before. “Burke’ll get it done; the leafs’ll be better than the Habs, bla-bla-bla…”

And you guys still finished in the cellar.

So spare me your Toranna fortune-tellin, please.

  3. joeybarrie says:

And if Pleks and the Habs have been talking for 1-2 weeks now about the deal? Why is he such an idiot if he went out and said i want to stay in Montreal. Offer me something in this range and I will sign. If you want to stay in a city and play for this team I wouldn’t even think I would try the market. I would simply say i like it here, wat will you give me.

The Habd will say, this is our best deal for you, we do not want to go in a different direction, but we will if we have to. Hope you enjoyed the 2.75 million we gave you last season based on the crappy points you put up in 2008-2009. Are we still on the same page… XXXXX on dotted line.

If this makes him an idiot, then i guess every single player who ever signed with his current team before they went UFA is also an idiot…. Yeah Pleks could get 1-2 million more, and play in Edmonton or Nashville.

Just because Pleks shows more loyalty to the Habs organization than most of its fans, doesnt make him an idiot.

There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…

  4. Storm Man says:

If im very happy with the team Im with I have no need to see what offers come my way. As for common sense let me know if you have any. Please try again later.

  5. ed lopaz says:

    its called “common sense”.

someone makes you an offer, and you can see 10 more offers a week from now, you have to be an idiot to turn your back on at least seeing what’s out there.

    OK?

Now I’ve explained myself 3 times to you.

    I’ve done my civil duty.

  6. Storm Man says:

I see you acting like a child in all matters the Habs have done in the past week. If Plekanecs wants to sign before July 1 and stay here, Who the hell are you to call him a idiot?

  7. HardHabits says:

I’ve said many times way before you posted your HH rip-off. ;-)

  8. Chris says:

I don’t see how every player on our team is under-rated. I would argue that a significant number of them are quite over-rated.

But the grass IS always greener in somebody else’s lawn, so we’re always looking at other teams’ players and wondering, “What if?”.

  10. ed lopaz says:

    yes. do you?

I said Plekanec would be an idiot to sign until he sees all of the offers after July 1.

That’s what “grown ups” usually do.

Then if he wants, he can choose Montreal.

    understand now?

or should I read it to you slowly?

You need to layoff the pipe, Do you know what your post said?

  16. andrewberkshire says:

Completely agree, Bugz. Every player on our team is underrated and every player on every team is overrated vastly by people on this site.

  17. Bugs says:

I’m not spitting on Horton by any means, but it’s not like we “missed” a glorious opportunity either. What could we have traded for him? Eller? Plecky? Lappy? Or another positional player that would leave us with SIX bloody centres?

We’ve seen with our OWN EYES that Horton is “good” right up to the point where he either gets injured, or misses the playoffs.

So what are we missing exactly?

    C’mon.

when was the last time the devils, or red wings or canucks had a #1 draft pick?

  19. Habsrule1 says:

More of a team player? Says who? Gomez had had an “A” on his jersey twice now, and he’s been mentioned as a possibility for Captain of the Habs. Gomez is our best penalty killer and, as I mentioned above, puts uop more points for longer periods of time than Pleks. Gomez is also 31 years old, so far from the downside yet. Plekanec could be the 70 point guy we saw this year, or the 39 point guy we saw last year….we don’t know yet, but a 10 year career averaging 70 points tells us we do know about Gomez.

    Your arguement is weak….sorry.

  20. SeriousFan09 says:

Chiarelli is good at some things, but he’s allowed himself to get spanked on signing his players in the last few years as well. Anyone think a 35-year old journeymen goalie behind the best defence in the East last year was really worth 20 million over 4 years? Ference at 2.5 and others, he’s not done too well managing his cap space IMO.

my post was less than 2 lines long, how could you misunderstand it so badly?

  22. sholi2000.com says:

There are 3 other teams much much more stronger than the Blues in their own division, and two other team (maybe three) that will pass them this upcoming season.  I see them finishing right around the same position, or lower. Look at this roster in front of Halak and tell me this team unless they sign Kovalchuk or maybe Marleau, will improve.

At least with the Canadiens you saw what they could do with a healthy roster, (healthy for how many weeks? 4?) and decent defensive play.

  26. Bugs says:

Assuming you would prefer the Horton you don’t know with our club for the Plecky you do, why would you WANT to better the offer to beat the Bruin deal?

How many friggin underachievin centres do we want exactly?

Considering you guys traded two 1st (almost overall) rounders to the Bruins for your cellar-dwelling wonderboy Kessel, I’ll give your belittlement towards us the consideration it deserves, mate.

    That is, slight.

With all due respect, of course.

  30. Storm Man says:

Im not sure Bugs wanted Horton.

  31. Storm Man says:

Why is he a idiot? maybe he likes where the team is going and what it can do. What team do you cheer for?

  32. likehoy says:

wait, did you just steal my post from this morning or did you have this idea the whole time?

  33. 24 Cups says:

Bugs – What could we offer that would beat the Bruin deal?

  34. likehoy says:

they did tank, that’s how they ended up with kessel, and then they dealt kessel for 2 first rounders. it’s a matter of luck.

but i don’t think they’re any better than the team they were last year. essentially horton adds 10-15 more goals to the team, replacing miro satan’s late season production, but at the cost of 2 draft picks and dennis wideman, who’s been a top 4 for the bruins and a good puck moving defenseman

if i were the bruins, i would have been more content to keep my draft picks to fill up the cupboards. especially to find some backup for chara.

i see it as chiarelli believes the window to challenge for the cup is as wide as chara. once chara starts slipping, the team will have to start from scratch and find that number 1 dman. he’s 33 now and he’s not getting any quicker.

  35. Storm Man says:

Im hoping 4 years 19 mil.

  36. TomNickle says:

I know you’re just relaying information but Nick Kypreos?

He of the Pleks will command $6.5 million annually on the open market and will never re-sign in Montreal.

Yeah, he said both of those things at the trade deadline.
