The Canadiens have signed London Knights defenceman Jarred Tinordi, their first-round draft choice in 2010, to a three year contract.
Tinordi, son of former NHL defenceman Mark Tinordi, has played only six of London’s 16 games this season. The defenceman has been inactive since suffering an eye injury in a fight.
Ironically, the London Free Press had published a story, prior to the fight, emphasizing Tinordi’s value when he’s not in the penalty box.
Here’s the fight in which he was injured.
The team announcement:
Montreal Canadiens General Manager, Pierre Gauthier, announced today the signing of defenseman Jarred Tinordi to a three-year contract (2012-13 to 2014-15). As per Club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Tinordi was selected in the first round, 22nd overall, by the Canadiens at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Thus far in 2011-12, Tinordi recorded two points (0-2-2) and 22 penalty minutes in six games with the OHL London Knights, posting a +7 differential. The London Knights are currently the top team in the country according to the Canadian Hockey League rankings (CHL) with a 13-2-0-1 record.
In his first season in the OHL in 2010-11, the 6’6’’ and 215 lbs defenseman played 63 games with the Knights, recording 14 points (1 goal, 13 assists). He also led his team with 140 penalty minutes.
A native of Burnsville, Minnesota, Tinordi is a product of the USA Hockey Development program. He played 39 games in the USHL in 2009-10, registered nine points (4-5-9) and 68 penalty minutes. He was also a member of the US national team on three occasions at international tournaments between 2008 and 2010.

With those sweet fight moves, he’ll fit in perfectly as a Hab.
Anyone who thinks Nashville wouldn’t take AK,Eller,Campoli, Tinordi, and 1 or 2 first rounders for Weber is delusional. That entire package makes a few million less than Weber is going to get as a FA, and it’s a damn good package. PG would have to wait weeks for David Poile to stop laughing and return from the bank before getting an answer on that proposal.
I can’t wait to see what Martin does with Gomer Pyle, Markov and Compolli when they return. Who sits, who stays. I will tell you I would hate to see Emelin bolt home. I think the kid has the ability to be a top 4 D and he will go to waste. He’s big, strong and I watched him work the front of the net and he’s not shy about cleaning house! He certainly wasn’t making the most mistakes when he played so now what! Gill on the other hand is slow, won’t hit and makes more mistakes in 1 game than Emelin made in the 6 he played. If its all about the PK and blocking shots have a chat with Emelin and teach him to block shots.
“Campoli”
You’ve seen something in (Y)Emelin that most others haven’t. He plays small and tentative, out of his depth. Looks like a 20 year old not 25. Yes he was improving but he hasn’t lived up to the massive hype so far.
——————————–
Chara sucks.
Tinordi will be like another Chara if he makes it in the NHL, a clone and it’s funny when reading how everyone is excited we have him drafted but everyone bashing Chara lol!
But Tinordi can be another bust like DMen we have drafting in the first round over the years like Fischer, Komo, Hainsey, Bilodeau, Brown, Wilkie to name a few.
I won’t get excited until he dons a Habs uniform.
We just hype our draft prospects too much on this site..
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
For a long time all the Habs ever did was draft D! Some were bound not to blow the charts, its called the law of averages! As for Hainsey’s still playing every night and a steady performer in Atlanta. I don’t call that a bust although he’s not a chart breaker! I’d certainly take his minutes and stature in exchange for what I do!
Atlanta LOL
——————————–
Chara sucks.
Komisarek wasn’t really a bust until he left for the Leafs, and Hainsey wasn’t a bust either, just ended up elsewhere unfortunately. Otherwise, you can’t compare a player drafted in 2010 with one drafted in 1991. Completely different eras; there’s different scouting methods, used by a different scouting staff, with different team management…you just can’t compare them.
Now Fischer could work, you could try to compare them. On the other hand, Fischer never seemed to really improve within college hockey. Tinordi jumped to the OHL, and has noticeably improved. Fischer was never signed for a reason, whereas Tinordi has been already. So there’s differences right there, not sure you can compare them either.
We do hype our prospects too much, but there’s no point in comparing him to the others you mention.
Komi was a bust his last couple of years here, long before Luchicken punked him out.
——————————–
Chara sucks.
Have you forgotten why people hate Chara? Attention span of a gnat.
——————————–
Chara sucks.
The Canadiens got 14 games this month of November
IF we can pull maybe 9 to 12 wins that would be perfect.
7 to 9 will be good but not that good
anything 6 and under, we might as well say goodbye Sweet November
Carey Price #31
As long as Price has got his Stach we’ll be good! lol

I’d love to see that.

Bruins not Laffs.

Chara sucks.
I’m pretty sure I could watch the “impossible” Roberto Carlos goal over and over.
Sure, the goalie played it badly. But what an incredible shot. The movement that Carlos could put on his shots must have been so aggravating for goalkeepers.
And while I’m at it…I nominate Eric Cantona as the next head coach of the Montreal Canadiens.
Forward, my friends…forward!
Did that one dude leap up and put his junk in his face? O_o

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.
Sheesh…Phil Kessel is playing lights out hockey this season. That deal might not have been so bad for the Leafs after all. 10 goals and 20 points through 12 games? Wow.
Throw in Lupul, who I thought would be a great compliment for Kessel, and you’ve got the start of one scary line for the Leafs. Even with Kulemin-Grabovski-MacArthur not clicking to the same extent this season, the Leafs are playing well.
Is it Friday yet?
Just for s***s and giggles…How many playoff calibre teams have they played this year? Just wonderin’….
——————
Yes, I’m a Hab fan..Wanna fight about it?
Who knows? Playoffs aren’t for a lot of months.
Oh please. Bottom line – leafs are better than the habs right now. Thems the facts. Still early, but thems the facts.
playoff team, not “when it doesnt mean shyte team”
I’ve always been a fan of “anything can happen” as Roy put it. If you get in, you have a chance. Regardless of what pundits say. So if the leafs make it, and they appear to be heading that direction after years of garbage, then “anything can happen”.
For the love of hockey I hope someone puts them out of their misery before then. I would love to see the habs vs leafs in the playoffs just to see their faces when the habs kill their long awaited chance.
habs?
Their defence, barring Phaneuf, is weak and filled with holes
Stevie
and yet – they win. Also the habs d isn’t weak? Our best d men are offensive minded and make many mistakes.
At least their offense can score at will, ours seems to be unable to even hit the net most nights.
I thought we just won three straight, is the end near???
——————————–
Chara sucks.
Jarred..Do yourself a favor and stop fighting…Play tough, but stop fighting..I haven’t seen one fight where you actually clean a guy’s clock, or win, for that matter…He is a punching bag, for Christ sakes..

Chara sucks.
can’t believe i just read a comment talking about trading Gomez and Tinordi for Shea Weber…. *facepalm*
To be fair jlgib21 (who I have somewhat discounted due to his recent spate of “anyone who thinks that fighting is extraneous to the game is a nancy boy” posts) accurately responded that what it would likely take to get Nashville to give up Shea Weber would be something like
“AK,Eller,Campoli,Tinordi and one or two 1st rders for Weber”
and that even then Nashville would be unlikely to take it.
So, props to jglib21 for that and proving that even if we disagree on fundamental issues like PG’s vegetarian influence on the composition of the Habs 4th line we can still see eye to eye on matters of objective reality.
Nashville does have a challenge in signing Rinne, Weber and Suter all next summer and keeping within the salary range their ownership allots, but that in no way means that Gomez and some sweetener gets the Habs Shea Weber
“Et le but!”
Lotta talk about the two Randy’s being more important and Jm being more of a figure…I’m happy about it, but at the same time I still think Martin is the head of things and he has the bottom line. I dont think that Martin is out of the equation like some seem to think.
Martin is the master strategist and the Randy’s are the implementers with input. It’s a triumvirat behind the bench.
Sounds good to me..
Looks like PK’s gonna get his first in Ottawa Friday night. Im calling that
Ottawa can beat us, they look damn good. Reeled off 6 straight before Brunes took em down.

Chara sucks.
The Leafs are proving to be a serious contender in the East. Can’t underestimate them this time around.

Chara sucks.
Brodeur & Miller sucked tonight. Why don’t they bring that type of sucking when they play us.
“Hate Bruins like a sickness”
Do you think Brodeur had much of a chance on those goals, other than that one by Lupul?
——————————————————————-
“And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people. And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain.” – Deuteronomy 2:33
“We don’t see things as they are, but as we are.” – Anais Nin
Are you serious? Brodeur had zero rebound control and terrible positioning. Which goal was NOT his fault? Agree with Windosr 100%.
__________________________________________________________________________
“To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high!”
What I saw on one was a mid-air swat at the puck. No chance. Another was a great fake by Gardiner with a slap pass to an open Lupul. Yet you see bad positioning. Another was a fourth whack at the puck after a three save effort, with the D unable to clear the puck. Perhaps you think every save is rebound manageable as well.

I guess that compared to Halak, every goalie’s rebound control is amazing.
Yes actually, he played like crap. Old man needs to retire
If it’s true that Martin has become a figurehead, and the two Randys are the ones running the team …
[JM glides in accompanied by Cunneyworth and Ladouceur, who take up a spot on each side of the coach at the lecturn]
JM: Fire away, gentleman. Questions, I mean, not bullets. Ha ha ha.
Male reporter: Jacques, the team has turned it around since your good friend Perry Pearn was removed as assistant coach. Wise move on the part of your GM or simply coincidence?
JM [his shoulders start to twitch and his mouth begins to twist into weird shapes before he’s able to speak]: It ..was..a..brilliant..decision..to get rid… of the deadwood..so my two…best friends, Randy and Randy… can play a bigger..role. They’re great assistant coaches.
Taller male reporter: Jacques, it’s obvious morale has improved on the team. You could tell it as soon as the three of you walked into the room. Randy and Randy have been grinning the whole time and they haven’t moved their lips once. They’re so happy, it’s obvious the turn of events has left them speechless.
JM: I wish I was spee[his head jerks suddenly, his eyes pop, he bares his teeth, and then his shoulders droop and his chin sags]eeeeaking to all the fans right now to let them know how optimistic I am about the team’s chances, because of all the great assistant coaching the team is getting.
Female reporter: Jim, you’ve been criticized for being a wooden face and not showing much emotion but today you cracked a joke and more than once it looked like you were trying to express emotion. Am I right, are you trying to break through, to show us the real Jacques Martin.
JM [his head swivels stiffly, back and forth, then stops, looking directly in front, his mouth opening and shutting; a few seconds pass before any sound comes out] Good question. You don’t miss a thing. Yes, you’re right. From now on you’re going to see a different me from the one you’ve known the past two years. All because of the great assistant coaching the team is getting.
Well, gotta go now, the practice is about to start..
[The reporters disperse. The two Randys fold JM and put him in a suitcase set off to one side. They wheel him to his office.]
Randy: We gotta start upping the doses … Okay, where should we prop him up for today’s practice?
Randy: Up in the seats, like we did last week. And make sure you put a notebook in his hand this time. Last time out it looked like he was writing on his palm.
What gave you that idea?
Where I get all my ideas: reading HIO, newspapers, people’s minds; talking to the pool boy, gardener, man servant (until the neighbour tells them to get back to work); gazing at the sky, navel; drinking ginger ale that’s been left out three days without a lid on; listening to rap with the volume turned off; daydreaming while driving to work; ruminating on a stretcher in the back of an ambulance.
The sources of inspiration are many, HH, you among them.
Weber from NSH would be a target for sure, but not now, not before our MVP is given a chance.
If MTL wants to improve it will cost them. A forward would be my target and it would not include any of the following players;
Pleks, Gionta, Pacioretty, Price, Subban, Markov, Gorges are not going anywhere.
Assets to trade are Kostitsyn (look at Sergei, Andrei is better), Cammalleri (needs a different system to thrive), Eller (promising kid with natural scoring talent playing in a system that is not ready for what he is capable of doing).
This team is already pretty damn good. They know defense, they are buying into it (or running it properly, depending on who you talk to), but imagine having Iginla playing for the Habs. Wow!
And what a waste in CGY, they look awful.
Just my opinion… but you lost me at Eller being on the block. I’d sooner trade Gionta… and that’s not happening either.
Whatever your smoking, must be good stuff. I agree with you that you gotta give up good players to acquire good players, but giving up on young talent like Eller is just another step backwards.
In a year or two when he is lighting it up, you will probably be one of the first to complain about how we lost this trade and the GM has to go.
To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.
Is the leafs hot streak for real or will they fall back as usual?…
while some of their forwards have injury issues and may not produce, potentially they could have a loaded forward line up..
they have 7 forwards that have scored 20 goals or more in the nhl ,some several times…Bozak has scored 15 and Connelly has had 65 points..bruins were rewarded last year for being good citizens to the bottom line maybe it is the leafs turn and they may get even more one sided trades and pick ups that have no logic beyond cash for the other teams…
I don’t know why people are always throwing weber’s name when talking potential trade. He’s the only other defenseman we have under contract for next season other then markov and for a very cheap cap hit of $850,000.
This sums up the Habs scouting. I watched Jeff Halpern play his last collegiate game unsigned when almost evey other decent college player was signed. Was thinking boy this guy would look good in a Habs jersey. Guess who they signed from that final four tournament?
Are you ready for this answer J.F Houle. I had kids on the Pee Wee team I was coaching that could skate better than him, that could shoot better than him, that were bigger than him..
But apparently, that could not get signed better than him…

Hey Bugzed!
Is your avatar an image from David Lynch’s movie Blue Velvet?
Just curious….
C’mon, man.
I don’t care how old anyone is; THIS you gots to know.
Back from the Brink’s boasts L. B. Potter, esq.
How could that be if at the time halpern was playing his last game Houle was already 2 years removed from college hockey and playing for the habs farm team? But your right JF Houle still sucked.
JF Houle (now coach of a junior team) is the son of Reggie Houle……
Maybe they should sign the guy who beat the snot out of Tinordi?
Hell, no. I want the guy who beat UP the guy who beat up Tinordi; that’s who I want!
Back from the Brink’s boasts L. B. Potter, esq.
Heheh.
When Pat Burns was coaching the Habs, he was called to the police station to pick up Shayne Corson, Mike Keane, and Chris Chelios (I think those were the three) after they got into a brawl in a bar. Corson had quite a shiner apparently, so he likely lost his fight. Anyways, Burns said the next day he wanted the Habs to sign the guy who fought Corson in the bar. I did too!
Miller “The Great” was yanked after 6 mins of play & Marty can’t stop a beach ball tonight. BUT Marty always plays like a wall against the Habs!
“Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing”
But Marty just did stop a phil kessel shot at an empty net with a diving through the air, knock it down with the stick and shovel it under yourself save.
Marty is not the problem in NJ.
Good to hear about Miller. For some reason he is one of those good players on a rival team I cannot forgive for being on a rival team.
“Et le but!”
OK now that we have, I think, a brand new ‘long-term diverse’ coaching team and a wired-up PG ready to ‘do things differently’…. I am thinking give the team the next 10 games to see how they do ( I think they will go minimum 7-3) and then pull off a serious blockbuster.
I think Iginla can be had from Calagary. Would cost us prospects/picks but WOW!
And speaking of crazy gut feelings. I have this feeling that Ovechkin just aint as happy as can be in Washington. I also think he loves Montreal, the organization. Just wondering…..
Call me ceazy but I am beginning to get this gut feeling that Ovechkin and the CAPS will come to a ‘good for both sides parting of the ways’ sooner than would have been imagined a couple years ago.
I suggest that you may consider to tell your “gut” to stay quiet before it makes you crazy!
On the other hand you may think of a trade scenario on how we can also get Crosby (heck, why not?)
LOL
Ali B.
Rick Nash is the man to target. Shane Doan is a nice out of conference option.
Well this could be a block buster. Is Nashville thinking about trading Weber to the Habs for Gomez and Tinordi. Before eveyone starts saying this is crazy think about it. Nashville get a 6’6″ D-man with a very good blood line. They get Gonez and he will be cheaper and they need offence. This could be a deal in the making. IF PG pulls this off we certainly would be thinking cup.
lol
Gonez? Is he related to Gonads?
And WHY would they trade Weber, please?
Back from the Brink’s boasts L. B. Potter, esq.
In terms of lopsidedness, this trade rivals Leeman for Gilmour. Why don’t we just trade those guys for Malkin instead?
So I’m all for this deal, let’s do it!
Full Breezer 4 Life
Leeman for Gilmour was a Calgary salary dump as most players The Leafs got needed new contracts. Also Gilmour quit on the team when he did not get a contract he held out & quit on The Flames by not playing…….
Only for those who this is meant for; it’s absolutely delicious:

A pure delight. Hell, just type “Keiser debate” and put the kettle on.

AJ has been screaming, in forecasting such global economic crisis developing for years. Trying to expose the NWO’s plan.

“We don’t see things as they are, but as we are.” – Anais Nin
AJ doesn’t go as far as he should (which is worrisome) but he still showcases a lot so more power to him.
That being said, his area of expertise is criminal government vs hijacking of liberty.
He doesn’t get into the nitty-gritty like Keiser does when he exposes financial terrorism.
See, no matter WHO’s running the show; they need money. Once folks realize that they CAN bring down these criminals using their weapons, it’s game over.
Ex: do you know how much damage a social media campaign that ORDERED people to stop eating McDonalds in order to “fight the globalists” would do if it caught on? How long do you think MickeyDs would last? A week? A month? Either way, they’d be finished. Their balance sheet destroyed, even leveraged to the hilt. A billion-dollar industry more than half-century old destroyed in moments by the people who’ve taken a stand as it were.
I think these are very interesting times.
Back from the Brink’s boasts L. B. Potter, esq.
Not as far as he should? Too far for any major media exposure. Ain’t Keiser a regular on CNN? How dangerous can he be? Keiser is only scratching the surface. It’s not about money anymore. 9/11 proved that. If you’re looking for nitty-gritty, tune in to TheAlexJonesChannel on youtube. His full length documentaries are eye-opening.

Like I said, Evie, he doesn’t go as far as he should. He blames the US govt. It’s not the US govt.
Keiser, who is most certainly NOT a regular on CNN (where’d THAT come from?) gets MUCH closer when he talks about financial terrorists. Max just talks about money, where it’s going and how it’s going there. This paints a starker picture around the criminals dictating worldwide policy from unelected shadows.
Case in point: Who’s more powerful Obama or Goldman Sachs?
The Bushes or JP Morgan?
Or, just for fun, google “AJ is a shill” to see what a lot of folks are bringing up about him.
Personally, I think AJ’s doing more good than harm, but be careful, Evie.

Calling out the NWO is all lofty as it gets Bugz. His documentaries do state the powers that run the show, Rockefellers, Rothchilds of the world. Govts/media are just their propaganda fronts.

The financial system is a complete hustle. It is rampant and rife with corruption. But if the current system is to be euthanized what will it be replaced with? Who takes over the purse strings?
The filthy rich are not just going to turn over without a fight. Push may have to come to shove and perhaps much blood will be shed in the next few decades, or maybe even sooner years, over this very issue. If it is true that 1% of the world’s population control 99% of the wealth, then it is only a matter of time until the pinata is burst.
First of all, it’s not 1%. That’s just rounded out to the nearest whole number. More like 0.01%. We say 1%. Even still, regular folks OUTNUMBER the criminals 250k to 1, easy. If they had nothing to fear, they wouldn’t attempt to dissimulate their crimes.
To paraphrase “Miller”s Crossing”: The bosses who run things run’em because people THINK they run’em. Once they stop thinkin it, the bosses stop runnin’em.”
Same for the money-lenders.
Those in charge of the currency WANT you to despair should their empire crumble. It’s bull. We have been brainwashed to believe that. The alternative is the end of their reign after all.
The oldest mercantile system in humankind is bartering and even a 4-yr old child knows how to do that. Small banks will spring up naturally, and since everyone’ll have been burned, they’ll be mighty more careful who’s managing their funds, which is how they should’ve been in the FIRST place (hey, regular folks deserve part of the blame for taking their eye off the ball too).
Look at Iceland. THEY arrested the banksters and defaulted on the debt. It was fraudulent; why should they pay it? They kicked out their government. They had a 1-yr depression. And now, they’re pretty much out of the hole. You want any more proof than that, consider how the corporately-owned media ain’t talking about Iceland anymore…
This whole idea that “it’s the end of the world” if we don’t increase a debt that has FUTURE production (your children’s and grand-children’s) as collateral is ludicrous; it’s the road to tyranny for Greece and nothing else.
And they’ve figured it out. And Papandreou must be petrified to do what he did. He either wants a democratic kleptocracy or could hear the lynch mobs sharpening their blades outside.
Back from the Brink’s boasts L. B. Potter, esq.
I like the cut of your Jib.
Small banks will spring up? Name a recent one. They’re all getting swallowed up by the biggies. Global bankers operate unregulated, and have complete control/autonomy of all the world currencies. They set high interest rates in a means to enslave.
After the biggies go down, I mean. Besides, the small ones will still be there; the credit unions will still be there.
Only those handing out fraudulent i.o.u.s will disappear. They’ll not have enough to pay the police or bribe the politicians or own the media or hire bodyguard squads anymore. Something’s got to give, and it will.
That’s why they’re still fighting. What choice do they have?
Secondly, they don’t control the whole world’s currency. If they did, they’d not be begging China, Russia and India to help. They’d not be invading countries that didn’t have a central bank either.
They WANT to take over the world currency; make no mistake. You should see the NEXT stage of the plan; it gets nasty.
But they’ve been blockaded by the populace waking up, saying “waitaminnit, this debt thing is a fraud, you print money backed by nothing, loan it to me so I can USE it as money, but repay it back to you in taxes at interest. So I can never repay the debt; it only gets bigger. I’ll die owing more than I started with, so my children and grandchildren will have to repay it in production, in essence, they’ll be born into slavery. And you, of course, as national creditor will have the power to dictate government policy, as you’re doing right now with these criminal austerity measures…you know what? SCREW the debt; we ain’t payin it. TWO can play that game. WE’LL print money backed by nothing and we’ll make ONE bill worth our ENTIRE debt and we’ll pay you with that…and then we’ll make a whole bunch of other bills for the people, and we’ll work our way out of this our own damned selves.”
That’s what the Greeks are doin.

Yeah….referenda: who needs that democracy crap. “‘Shut up and obey Brussels’, they explained.”
Headline in today’s online Globe: ‘Opposition boycotts Commons probe of CBC’
Cherry’s reaction: “Look, I have my problems with the CBC, and ya know how much I love this government for supportin’ the troops, but what’s goin’ on here? They’re goin’ to probe us? Who and how many? You won’t get any objections from MacLean, I can tell you that, but they got another thing comin’ if they think I’m goin’ go along with this. I went through my share of hazings, I don’t need that experience again. They come around with that probe thing, I’ll tell them where to shove it …Or I just might do it for them.”
Had to read it twice to get the genius of it!!
Well done sir!
Hope he is as good as McDonagh (who plays more than Subban and has more goals than any Hab d).
As an aside: Higgins plays more minutes than Gomez and also has more goals than any Hab forward. Yikes.
Win some, lose some.
Rivet trade was to SJ what the Gomez trade is to MTL.

To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.
Both those guys are bums. Combined they don’t make half as much as Gomez.
ha ha
Speculation is rampant in Habsland that the Habs are hiding something. What? Nobody knows!!! Journalists are pissed because all they are getting are press releases and sound bites.
Yes people, word is out on the street that the Montreal Canadiens Secret Intelligence Agency has just signed their latest undercover operative agent in Jarred Tinordi. Operation Police the Blueline is in full effect.
Your mission Jarred, should you decide to accept it…
…Crush Rat Marchand into a stanchion.
Oh wait. Damnit!

SeriousFan, or anyone else who would know this, how does this affect the 50 contract limit for the Canadiens? I read on this site that we had 49 players under contract and we should keep a spot open for emergencies like injuries. Does his contract not count if he’s in Junior?
As far as players under contract, can the Canadiens buy out some who aren’t working out, and reduce that number, or are they locked in?
On CagGeek, the Canadiens are listed as having 26 players in Montreal, and 23 in Hamilton. I don’t see any players under contract in Junior.

No, he doesn’t count against the 50 unless he is under contract for this year. This contract is for next year.
To reduce the number, we can either trade or buy out a minor leaguer. Saw the rules the other day but can’t locate to link right now.
Tinordi can still play as a overager although unlikely, in the OHL. Meaning his contract “could” roll over to 2013-14.
Doubtful that happens though… But it could.

Is Gallagher signed?
Around the ‘pre-season’ time (if the word pre-season isnt tabboo here NOW), there was talk that Gallagher had to be ‘signed’ before they can give him the minimum 9 game junior stint.
No, he is not signed yet but would have to be, to play for the Habs.
See my end comment to Shiloh, IMO the reason for this signing and if so we will see others like Gallagher.
Thanks I will check out your comments. Hope we dont lose this guy.
Nice to see the trolls are out in full force, as always.
Thanks for the illuminating comment. Red Fisher has nothing on you!
That’s like saying a 75 year old bottle of Chateau du Pisse is better than a 20 day old bottle of piss.
What’s illuminating is that a poster who saddles himself with the handle ‘Bozo McBozo’ is so thin-skinned. Malreg’s comment is not specifically directed at anyone, yet you yelp in anguish. Take it easy Bozo.
Why don’t you listen to a soothing ballad by a towering figure in Quebec culture, Monsieur Félix Leclerc.

Welcome to the newer NHL: The National Headshot League.
Ridiculous seeing posters here saying he’s a bad signing because he lost ONE fight.
I didn’t realize people would freak out so much over the signing of someone who’s not even on the team yet.
25 before 14
Yep we’re all freakin’ freaked out! But then again, many of us think that given Nilan is back in the mix, he could show Subban how to be less embarassing in the future.
How is Nilan ‘back inthe mix’? Did I miss something. I know he’s a regular on tsn990 but…
Take a few days off, come back to see what the word is on CH Street, and find out we done gone sign a guy we already own.
This is stupendifying progress. Consider me thrilled and amazed. This in fact must be one of them “pro-active” maneuvers I hear so much about? (as opposed to the “CON-active” ones one would reckon…)
That’s fantastic. Soooo, apart from that, everyone is fine? Yeah, doin ok?
Right, I’m off.
Next time, sign Godzilla if you wanna rise outta me.
Goooooo-Jiraaaaaaa!!!
Back from the Brink’s boasts L. B. Potter, esq.
Had a great time in your town Sat night. Seven rows from the ice in the end the Habs shot on twice. Unexpected high point of the evening: a rabid Bs fan being abused by a pair of drunken revelers wearing Teletubbie costumes. It was all good!
If I get my ass kicked will they sign me? The kind of kid they should have signed is Troy Vance of Victoriaville. 6’5″ 205 lbs d-man. Kid is poised and has a really good sense of the game. Rushes the puck like Robinson used to. I saw him live last Friday night. Alas, he is Dallas property.
Sh!t, and didn’t Dallas also sign that 7″ Russian player you were scouting last spring… plus Sourey too. Wow!
This kid can play. He is the only non-Canadian on the team – Goshen, NY – and when he sees an opening goes for it. He can really move for a guy who is 6’5″ and he has yet to fill out.
This him?
http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/41264-Prospect-Watch-Troy-Vance.html
Yep, that’s him. He really can carry the puck by himself, which you don’t see much from guys his size. The small 5’10″ guys who got the goals and are a dime a dozen in the Q got the stars, but this guy stood out.
He hits hard too, but apparently never learned to fight yet. Sheldon can teach him at camp.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XXE769-Im34#!
Vance fared a heck of a lot better than Tonordi in that bout.
True dat!
In other words: we should sign a guy like a guy we can’t sign.
Thanks.., “Bozo”???
Waitaminnit…
Back from the Brink’s boasts L. B. Potter, esq.
Well, we can never sign guys who we should sign because we are the modern-day Habs! We can’t send a dead-beat thief like Gomez down to the minors either because wezz got class.
To address your first: the blame, after SEVERAL snow-jobs now, falls SQUARELY on pro-scouting dept. They need to go. Just that simple. More we rag about it, blogs, radio, tv, on the street, in the BELL, the more that has a chance of happening cuz they wanna make us happy. Happy people is spendy people. No happy, no spendy.
To address your second: I said this summer and repeated often, that Gomie should get a MONTH to follow through on his sincere-to-me mea culpa for last year and the conviction-filled promises for the year to come.
If he still stanks it up, bye-bye birdie and send us a postcard from Hamilton. To hell with him.
Sooo, are we there yet, I don’t know.
Back from the Brink’s boasts L. B. Potter, esq.
You’ll get no argument from me. I kinda like bein’ spendy, especially if I’z can be trendy!
There’s a reason Tinordi was a first rounder and that guy was picked in the fifth round.
25 before 14
Like that ball of infinite fire Louis Leblanc?
There’s a reason that Marcel Goc was a first rounder and that Plekanec guy was picked in the 3rd round.
There’s a reason that Manny Malhotra was a first rounder and that Datsyuk fella in Detroit was picked in the sixth round.
There’s even a reason why Adam Bennett, Doug Zmolek, Jason Herter, Jason Marshall, Kevin Haller, Jason Soules, Jamie Heward and Steve Bancroft were all chosen in the first round, while Nicklas Lidstrom was still there to be picked 59th overall in the third round.
The problem for me is that I’ve never figured out what those reasons were.
Another testimony to the futility of fighting in hockey.
A complete waste of time… and probably a 1/16 of an inch away from a catastrophic waste of talent. All to pander to the cretins who like this sort of thing.
Disclaimer: And I say that with complete respect to same cretins. Like me, you are entitled to your opinion.
I thought it was more testimony to the Habs selecting another no-nads d-man that most women in the Bronx could beat up for sport.
He has actually been a pretty decent fighter so far…trouble with fighting small tigers
I guess they wanted to sign him before he embraced The Code!
Beats embracing the suck.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
I saw that!
I just want the Habs to win and right now there is fighting in the game so deal with it accordingly.

*disclaimer* not about Tinordi, or any trades *disclaimer*
I’m curious what the HIO faithful thing of the Habs chances of the next 5 games:
Senators, Rangers, Oilers, Coyotes, Predators, with only the Oilers game being the Bell.
Personally, I see taking 3 out of 5, with wins against Ottawa, Phoenix and Nashville.
The Rangers, with the talent they *should* have in scoring goals, plus an all-world goalie, scare me, and the oilers are a team that could easily open up on your for 5+ goals, but their youth – you never know (it doesn’t hurt that the oilers have moved into 2nd place on my ‘favourite canadian teams list’, either.
Anyone?
We can totally take 5 out of 5 here or in points terms i see us going from 8-10
Also we better beat the Oilers I’m going to that game haha
I agree with Sportfan, we can win all of these games.
Rumour has it the Rangers are in the market for defenceman. would Weber or Diaz bring us a Prust. Hes exactly what we need and would make room for Emelin who id hate to loose.
You crazy Weber and Diaz are to promising to trade plus we will get injury on the D and Yamelin will get it chance
TSN has a great lil piece on Nilan during sportscentre.
maybe we should trade for the guy who beat up Tinordi?
Yet another feather in the cap of the non-fighters.
First round pick gets injured in a fight; eye injury too. Dangerous stuff.
—Hope Springs Eternal—
It drives me crazy. It’s so dumb.
Never bring a knife to a gun fight….I still can’t believe what Tinordi’s eye did too that guys fist,wow…..Gauthier will sign anyone who couldn’t beat Tom the Bomb in a fight.
does anyone know if markov has been skating all week ,
He’s been skating the last two days by himself.

Does this mean he’s going to Hamilton or are we just signing him for the sake of signing him?
Signing for the sake of signing him, he can only go to Hamilton once the Knights have completed their season and chances are their season could go as long or longer than Hamilton’s, #1 team in the country and potential Memorial Cup contenders.

Why did they sign him now? Just seems odd timing
Just got it out of the way. I am sure they have been talking for some time about getting this done.
Not like the clock is ticking on his contract with him signing it right now. So it really does not matter.
trade bait?
Olé, olé, olé oleé
Please no.
I hope not also but I’m worried that they could only trade players under contract and he’s coming back from injury and he’d be a decent chip to toss in with Gomez. I really hope he stays. I liked him in the preseason a lot and the habs have a penchant for throwing away NHLers.
*I concede that I don’t know how the system works, I’m just a little suspicious)
Olé, olé, olé oleé
McDonagh was not signed when he was traded.

A player does not have to be signed to be traded. The team just trades the players “rights” instead.
If anything, less likely to be traded now. Shows that the Habs want him (McDonagh was not signed when he was traded)

From reports, Jarred Tinordi with extra protection (Likely meaning a cage) is ready to go for this week’s OHL action.
And I wouldn’t worry too much about this fight, Tinordi took a draw with Maguire last year and Maguire is about as relevant to the OHL as NYI “skater” Trevor Gilles is to the NHL.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
SF09 on Twitter
No extra protection means they’ve got an enforcer to protect him!
“I figure PG has one or 2 moves left to bring the Habs that extra step closer to perhaps being the best in the league.” – Einstein
Swiss misses? Have you even watched Weber/Diaz play this season?
No kidding Weber got a M Strait shot and more upside let just give him away like Strait
I agree. Damn that GM who traded Rivet for Gorges and MaxPac. What the hell was he thinking? He set this organization back years with that one!
Who’s actually running this ship? Gauthier or Gainey?
Well check Habsworld link above both Weber and Diaz score A to PK B the comment are right on
Since it is a player vote, don’t imagine it means much to PG.
Not really.
If memory serves, BGL had the job… In the Habs dressing room, this job is a bad omen…

HIO has exclusive rights on any negativity in the world of Hab fans. Read the small print under Rules!
You must have really hated the Olympic finals then eh? No fights just end-to-end amazing hockey…. let us hope that the NHL never turns into that crap!
Anyway, just putting my name down in the 30% category…
yep, and you have to give something to get something and this fills a need.
I agree, no point in name calling…. and I acknowledge that I’m unfortunately in the minority.
But I don’t think I’m a hypocrite for not walking away from the TV when Moen and Thornton scrap. You don’t have to close your eyes to every aspect of the game you don’t like.
I don’t like intentional walks in baseball, but I didn’t run out of the room when the Rangers did it to Pujols in the bottom of the 9th in Game 6.
I still love hockey and the fact that fighting exists won’t change that much. But in dreamworld where I am the Commissioner, I would simply scrap it.
I don’t buy the watered down argument. Back in the 6 team NHL, almost all of the players came from Canada with a population of 25 – 30 million people. Nowadays players come from all over the world; ergo, the talent pool is much deeper. In fact, one could argue that a reason that there aren’t more talented players is that they prefer to play sports that aren’t so imbued with violence. Get rid of it and you might attract more talented players.
As for walking away from fighting, I would agree that most people would watch regardless of their views on violence. That, imo, does not necessarily mean they are hypocrites no more than someone who rubbernecks when passing a traffic accident. People are morbid, curious, often irrational, etc. Perhaps you have emotions that sometimes run counter to your values and, if so, I would imagine that you’ve sometimes acted on them despite what you believe or value. Does that make you a hypocrite? Is it possible to despise something and yet be fascinated by it? Aren’t we all a little neurotic?
Cheers,
TMR
Dear Cretin
Oh yeah. You’re the guy that keeps repeating the ‘if you watch the fight you’re a hypocrite’. People who hate fighting might watch a fight just because they’re showing it… it’s the same reason most people don’t get up and leave the room when a stupid commercial comes on. Now publically expressing a hate of fighting and enjoying a fight would make you a hypocrite – but if I watch a fight (and I do as little as possible), I’m shaking my head at the stupidity of it.
Regards, Pompous Wimp Ass
1. Contract doesn’t start until next season. Would get a signing bonus now though.
2. Could trade him without being signed.
Perhaps with so many prospects coming into play next season plus PK and Price to sign, PG is taking care of some business early.
I do, MaxPac IS a better player the McD… And I like McD…
And Subban also is better the McD… IMO.
As for inability, ability to sign players. Gomez is not hindering that, a quick demotion to the AHL resolves that.

In the tipsy topsy world of Habs fandom those grades become C+’s and B-’s once the Habs are about 4-5 games above 500.
Last week, when the Habs had not had a 5 day hiatus. Max was top ten in scoring, Max is better then McD.
If I’m wearing Habs colored glasses with my opinion, wtf are you wearing ?
Like I said, I like McD… But prefer Max and PK.

Actually I was talking about the original “Tinordi + Gomez for Weber” proposal, which is crazy. Yours is actually closer. But I wouldn’t do yours. I’d consider trading PK for Weber straight up, that’s about it.
Full Breezer 4 Life
Such a reason to trade Weber is not credible.
Back from the Brink’s boasts L. B. Potter, esq.
live in the present ? The Habs have not played in 3 days, and still two more. Max’s stats will catch up once he gets his share of games in, come on…. How can you discount Max not playing for so long as an impact on his “present” points standings.

And he needs to learn how and when to fight. Chara and Pronger would not let some little rat cross check them in the face then kick their ass and mess up their eye.
