The renewed history of hockey in Winnipeg began with a 5-1 win by the Canadiens.
Michael Cammalleri (who was Third Star of a game in which he played 4:22) scored the Habs’ first goal of the season before he was injured.
And Carey Price was All-World again.

See we have moved into 7th place in the East!!
And the Bruns have dropped to 12th place, so sad!
Alias, too bad it wasn’t April…”sigh”
I don’t like the Bruins.
Gallagher ended up with 3 goals and 2 assists today. This gives him 7 goals and 2 assists in 4 games.
Our prospects in Juniors are all starting out extremely well, but I will leave the details to Serious!
For those who have iPad or iPhones. The new TSN app allows to listen to all 3 TSN radio stations, including Montreal’s 990. A nice feature for those of us outside of Montreal.

Chantal on RDS reported that Cammalleri spoke to Renaud Lavoie and he told him it was just a simple cut – no muscle damage. With stitches he should be back soon. (fingers & toes crossed)

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Shucks, went to a family dinner and missed AC setting a new record!
AC!!! you are the man! Nuff said.
Seriously, Chantal is reporting Tennall Owens in the hospital with an overdose. WOW!
Not seriously, I’m reporting Walsh had to hospitalized after Bettman rejected his appeal of Bouchard’s suspension. Apparently choked on his own spit but should be alright!!
Does anyone know how you say “front-loaded contract” in French?
In regards to Huberdeau?
From the NHL;
Bettman upholds Bouchard suspension.
Plekanec 1st Star for Sundays actions.
Notwithstanding whether or not he is correct on this particular issue, I would consider it a great compliment were Jack Todd to ever choose to attack me on an issue related to hockey. The man knows very little about hockey, writes only to inflame, and does so poorly rather than cleverly.
As to his decision to mail in the particular piece of garbage that was in the paper today, it adds nothing to the dialogue that began for the rest of Western Civilization five minutes after Cherry uttered his comments on Thursday night. I suppose we can expect to hear his cynical thoughts on the Red Sox collapse later this week and the Yankees choke a week after that.
Welcome back doug.
Hey HH – hope all’s well with you…
Does anyone have news on the nature Cammy’s injury? Or Spacek? Perhaps it can be found in the “comments” somewhere but I don’t think I want to scan the whole archive. I missed that part of the game where he was injured (Cammy). Heard it was a cut how bad? Markov bad? Anyone? Thanks
Saying two weeks for laceration above the knee for Cammalleri. I haven’t heard anything on the other two, although one should be at least a little concerned that I play defense but (a) not terribly well, (b) am 42, and (c) Pierre Gauthier just left a message on my voicemail.
Thanks Doug
Whoa…you make an appearance out of the blue without warning and expect it to go unnoticed? What’s shakin’?
***Subbang Baby!!!***
ha! hey Dave – hope all’s well with you. I occasionally troll around… I just don’t troll in the comments as much as I did. Wanted to leave some room for the next generation…!
Welcome back big guy!!
Much appreciated… my productivity is up quite a bit at work, although Twitter can be quite addicting.
Hell of a week, eh? The return of Tis and now doug. I fully expect the resurrection of Yeats any day now.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
Himself had said that he retired him, however one should never say never.
I’m hoping that Spacek doesn’t have a problem with his ribs as even a fracture can be very painful and could keep him in bed for a couple of weeks. Hopefully just some bruising. I doubt he’ll play on Thursday.
Redacted.
response to Tinman’s question on JM:
…if Boucher and Jacques Martin were a choice today for Our Coach, no question it would be Boucher
…but that would be like fantasizing hiring Angelina Jolie to replace my present shop-worn, but functional (and very nice) cleaning lady
…I don’t think there is anyone out there, presently unemployed, that would be a more ‘effective’ Coach for Our Habs
…and, I don’t think there is a better Coach or ‘system’ that can deal with an injury-riddled roster (also essential are character Players, with a capital ‘C’, of which We are now VERY fortunate to possess)
…so, Guy Boucher will remain my ‘fantasy’ Coach, and Jacques The Best Alternative within Our Real World
…at least until Our next loss to the MuppleWeeds

Well played, my friend, well played.

I can think of better replacement uses for Angelina Jolie than cleaning my closets
What like cleaning the gutters or dusting the stairs?

Assuming those are euphemisms… exactly.
For all those crying about the 6 bucks the gazette charges per month, did u pause to think they are paying the salary of the reporters who put so much effort to make this site viable. The price of a beer downtown!! Get a better cause.
Oh yeah Gomez sucks, JM sucks, PG sucks, bunch of pussies.etc etc.u know all those original topics.
Great game for the Blues. Noting many positives with the newly acquired veteran presence, and Shattenkirk, Stewart having immediate impact. What a howitzer by Pietrangelo from afar!
Loved the commentator’s ” Backes – the irresistible force and immovable object”

Cause for Concern – In his first two games, Halak has surrendered 5 goals on 30 shots.
Not overly concerned about the slow start.

its too bad i dont have the whogivesash[t channel
Looks like Halak had a solid game. But the Hebrews should have drafted Nephilim. They could have won the Cup with all that extra size and grit.
C’mon, HH, everyone knows the elohim rigged the game.
Total fix, Jehova was the disciplinarian.
They had some crazy rules back then too.
Thou shalt not pass forward. Penalty: purgatory.
Thou shalt not hit to the head. Penalty: death by stoning.
Does anybody know the won/loss record for the Anak, the ancientaliencivilizationsdb.com servers are down for the moment?
your both sheep
it was molech
I thought Molech was captain of the Phoenicians?!?!?
molech spins many a web
many many
Mg, left the room for a second helping of turkey and come back to this. You should all know by now Baal is the real bastiche.

Pfft. Baal was a career underworlder.
Yay! You’re back! Missed you HH.
Chrisadiens and HabFan10912, one of the few father son tandems on HIO.
So Gallagher has found his groove again in the WHL, scoring 1G and 2A after the first period against Vic today.
He is now sitting at 5G and 2A in 4 games played.
he just picked up another goal.
The Habs top prospects that came to training camp look to have benefited greatly from the experience. Tinordi, Gallagher, Bournival and Beaulieu all appear to be fast out of the gates in their respective leagues. The experience in my opinion will help them shine even more than they would have without it.
Ellis (2+6) and Archambault (4+3) aren’t doing so bad either.
It’s been a great Thanksgiving weekend. The habs get a Historic win in beating Winnipeg in their home opener and the Als Anthony Cavillo becomes the all time passing great, while beating the Argos and staying in first and locking up a playoff spot.
To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.
we can win games without Spacek? quote the ING guy “save your money”, keep him on IR long term. It’s 4 million we could use to grab a Nashville Predators’ defenseman before the deadline.
watching Calgary- St.Louis, it’s hilarious how often “halak” and “big rebound” are said in the same sentence.
the good news is that Calgary have givien up a lot of goals in their 1st 2 games. I know they want to give Kipper more rest but was playing Karlsson today necessary? No dbout Kipper will start the Habs opener but that’s only on Thursday.
Even to my (VERY) untrained eye, his rebound control was poor in Montreal. It would appear that he hasn’t fixed that yet
(much to my fantasy team’s detriment I might add!)
Anybody else vote on JM, whether he’s the right coach for us? Thoughts? Civil thoughts, that is. If you don’t know what I’m talking about just scroll up and look to the right. I think maybe we made a mistake letting Muller get away, but who knows, maybe there is some backroom deal for him to come back after some Head Coach seasoning.

Damnit! Habsolutely416, you beat me to the punch!
Born and Bred in Enemy Territory (Boston).
I think he’s the right man for the job. The way that I see it is that we’ve had the most success in my recent memories with him behind the bench. And by success I mean playoff success. Most of the Team has bought into his defensive system, and so have I.
Our playoff record under Martin is 12 wins and 14 losses.
Yeah but he still helped take us to the eastern conference finals, and to game 7 OT vs the Bruins.
What was Carbo’s Playoff record with us? What about Julien and Gainey?
He has been productive, but I give credit to Gainey on that one with the massive overhaul.
Born and Bred in Enemy Territory (Boston).
Especially considering that JM was a part of that overhaul.
It’s a crap shoot, the only players available and which the Habs snatch up are used 6 foot tall 200 pound defensemen like Campoli who injure easily. Having said that, finding Gil and Gionta was a bonus, and we all know that Cammy is not bad considering that no one wants to pay Quebec taxes. We have to give credit to the Habs management for knowing how to make a profit by signing only the players no one wants, and in the hope that these players will get us into the playoffs for more ticket sales.
If only Geoff Molson could learn that signing real NHL hockey players also means that they produce, and get you a cup. This also translates into a bigger market for goods and services, and not to mention the monetary bonus.
Otherwise we only good enough to always land not the best draft each year we play the game of Gauthier and Gainey in signing only those players no one wants.
If it was not for our goal tending we would not even be worth a mention. Montreal has a legacy but on the best of nights, it is always a shame to watch our highest paid players knocked over by even the most inexperienced rookie of the worst teams.
I am hoping that this weary band of washed up injured veterans can spark our rookies and new talent to progess, but we’ve yet to see Markov peak. We’ve yet to see Subban regain his Bulldog’s stature and play. But the reality is the NHL is a big league of goons, and goon hockey is what is king these days and gets you a cup. Did you hear that Geoff Molson? Maybe it is time we put the yogurt eating executives away and their yoga and meditation get togethers in Ontario, you can only ask NHL players to hold hands for so long in a circle, honestly, what has happened to hockey these days?
Oh come on now ! We eked into the playoff’s mostly….is this the plan ,maybe make the big show and then we’ll see! And when we run into injury problems with our smallish or soft players let’s replace them with other accidents waiting to happen.Let me ask …does Martin and Gauthier have a ring in all the many years of NHL involvement?
Next poll should be a y/n on Gauthier….would be interesting.Another point of interest is irregardless of a win or loss the polls hold .
I’m guessing, the Dude, is as much a fan of PG as he is of carpet pee-ers!
Born and Bred in Enemy Territory (Boston).
You Betts!
irregardless
heh, nice.
That word just don’t add up….irregardless… regardless would be less redundant, wouldn’t it?
is it like regard-full?
Jacques Martin is a good coach but I am not a fan. Don’t like his negative style or his way with young players.
I agree we foolishly let a potentially great coach go but I am referring to Guy Boucher.
Not sure about Muller.
wow, I forgot about Boucher, my bad. Then I think there are two that got away. Muller seemed to have all the players respect. While JM has been productive, I never hear anybody bad mouth Muller or Boucher, in foreign newspapers or otherwise.
Born and Bred in Enemy Territory (Boston).
I voted no he’s not the right coach for us, I don’t think his style really suites our team.
Any link up yet of Chara getting hit by O’Byrne or Horton getting hit in todays game.
Like the score ,good for Valarmov the ex washington G
nhl.com shows the hit. Knocked to the ice. Didn’t seem to like that much. We could use OB’s big body. Stupid JM and PG
When O’B was with the Habs he didn’t do that to Chara…
So yeah, stupid PG for being able to get Bournival with that asset!

Hard to do it with a mouth full of hot dogs… in the press box.
Even more impressive then…
Edit: note I haven’t defended JM, I understand why they kept JM… I still don’t like it, hindsight sucks sometimes because we can’t do anything about it.

Poll
Q: Do you think Jacques Martin is the right man to coach the Canadiens?
No (69%, 1,801 Votes)
Yes (31%, 798 Votes)
2599 votes
yikes…the tribe has spoken lol.
ill be in the slot
I think he’s the right man for the job because he doesn’t give into the idiotic demands of the lunatic, irrational fans that think they know more about coaching hockey than the guy who has been doing it for 20 years. He keeps things calm in a pressure filled atmosphere. Probably the most important attribute for this job.
