Another Canadiens player had undergone offseason surgery.
After prospect Louis Leblanc and forward Lars Eller, Mathieu Darche is the latest Canadien to go under the knife.
Darche underwent abdominal surgery Wednesday morning and his recovery time is expected to be between three and four weeks.
The Montreal native, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, scored 12 goals and added 14 assists in 59 games during the 2010-11 season.
Canadiens’ Darche has abdominal surgery

Sorry, Darche is a nice guy but we need better skill and speed. I’d rather go with some one from the Bulldogs…we need to transition those players into the NHL to find out what we have.
Some thoughts at 2:30AM
JM spotted in Miami? Observing and dissecting the series vs Boston. If he really is there, that’s great! Never stop learning. I love that.
Kirk Muller gone? Much respect to you Kirk. We’ll be ready for you.
Darche? I’m willing to bet a beer that he is DAILY in text mesasge mode with Guy Boucher.
Elliott Friedman? Whatever. He makes 30 points when I save time and make 3… or 4… Word.
Gabriel Dumont has now scored 6 goals in the AHL playoffs over 17 games, he had 5G in 64 RS games.
Aaron Palushaj has 5G, 11A over 16 playoff games an improvement of 3G, 1A over his previous-year output in the postseason.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.

i was quite happy i went to the dogs game last night
a nice 8-1 victory to stay alive
palushaj’s goal was unreal
who is claude julian going to sit now that bergeron is back–there is no way he can bench seguin for game 3
tough decision on who he sits
They’re putting him back in? Wow, did they hire the docs the Flyers used in the 90s-00s to ‘clear’ Hatcher, Primeau and Lindros?

Here’s the reason Eager took so many penalties. Watch closely

Hurray for bewbs!
Crap they already took it off the site.
nipple rings and all, I bet her dad is so proud of her life choices.
Wouldn’t it be great to have kevin bieska on the habs–my kind of of player
Eager has job but he needs to do it smartly–he lost his focus–you have to pick your sport
Bieksa is the key to Vancouver right now. SJ has to target him by hitting him. Not letting him dictate the game.
I know what you mean.
san jose needs to win game 3 so they have keep their heads focused but if the right opportunity comes, ryan clowe needs to take on bieska and put the message that you don’t fight our key players—clowe needs to do it smartly and not put the team shorthanded however
ryan clowe would alsobe awesome on montreal–my kind of player also
Can Ric Flair please sue for them using his WOOOOOO?????
Please Ric stop this insanity. It makes OLE OLE OLE seem genial.
Wasn’t expecting a spanking going into the 3rd. Big night for Higgins.

CBC hockey broadcasts are unbearable.
* Ville Leino would make Sergei Samsonov look like Alex Kovalev *
Indeed. Seems you can root for everyone except the Canadiens.
Heatley is totally invisible. He’s their version of Gomez
So Eager is the kind of player we want, right? I mean he lights a spark, he stands up for his team mates, he plays 10 minutes and gets, what, 5 or 6 penalties. Yep, just what we need. A bone-head.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
The problem was the coach. He lost control of his players and his team.
The problem is Eager. Look at his history and tell me there’s a coach who can control this doofus.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
I understand Seguin will be playin’ tomorrow. This despite the fact Bergy’s back in the lineup now that his concussion is better ‘n’ all. Huge miraculous recovery. Vatican-style. Nothin’ to see here, folks, the dude is totally, totally fine.
Odd man out is apparently Thornton.
Bad, bad move by the Broonz. Everyone knows that one-dimensional fourth liners is the way to go in the playoffs.
Everyone knows, baby.
Everyone.
Bergeron is one hit away from joining Crosby and Savard.
I recall many of us asking why “The Other Tyler” was banished to the hinterlands for so long. The kid’s a firecracker.

Boston apparently gets their doctors from the same medical school as the one that graduated the medical staff the Flyers used in the 90s to early 2000s.

This CBC crew conveniently forgets to notice how Lapierre was doing the facewashing and the Canuck who punches Eager.
Oh to see Boston vs Vancouver. cheap shot heaven…..
double post hell
NHL brass is upset that a Canadian team is going to win the Cup.
Im suprised San Jose layed down like that
did a girl just flash eager in the box!?
seriously. no one has a pvr?
Ron Maclean does.
wow Eager got a penalty for unsportsman like conduct ????? Are they making it up as they go along ????
Wow. Sedins picking apart the Sharks.
The Sharks stopped playing after the 2nd and the Bieksa beatdown. Someone should have jumped in and protected Marleau.
The Sharks didn’t stop playin’.
The boneheaded clown on skates, goes by the name Ben Eager, woke up the Sedins. He clearly wasn’t payin’ attention durin’ the session on exactin’ revenge durin’ the playoffs. Then he takes a mind-numbingly useless penalty, which results in a goal, to take all the winds out of SJ’s sails.
100% pure moron. No fillers.
McLellan will probably have a few choice words for the meathead after the game. What a waste of bench space.
I think the problem was the coach who should have picked his spot. Instead he had a hot potato and sent him out.
He should have waited.
Fair enough. Eager was obviously on full meltdown when Marleau was gettin’ trashed.
Not the way to win playoff games.
Well the ‘Nucks turned around a scored then proceeded to dominate the game. Unlike what the another popular team would have done.
Crazy. I called him a bone-head up above before reading your comment. So is it bonehead or bone-head?
***Subbang Baby!!!***
The key is to avoid the hyphen at all costs.
Kind of a life lesson, really.
The Habs need toughness not goons or morons.
So, do they pull Niemi?
Nah, not his fault.
Yappy Lappy pullin’ off his old tricks again too, lol
Seems to like having bigger friends with him. Can’t blame him though.
Hughson is so bad it’s unbelievable.
Rather have Higgins than Gomez.
Past dead weight vs. current dead weight is still dead weight.
Higgins has 4 more play-off goals then Gomez.
Higgins also played more games this post season.
Attaboy, Eager.
Inspired hockey.
*cough*
Jacques Martin spotted down in Miami airport; Markov was there too, however not with him (nor did he care JM was around). Just felt like sharing a “spotting”
– HABS INSIDE/OUT R.I.P. –
Speedo time !!!!!! TMZ will not cover that.
Comon Caucks run up the score, the third will be a bloodbath…..
Ben Eager this is your time to take out one of the twins. Good luck
hahaha, right on time. Hey Sedin say thanks to Bieksa….
Of course the coward turns his back to draw a penalty. I cannot believe what the Canucks have gotten away with penalty wise. If there were ever a case for proving there is no bias against canadian teams, this game would be it. Canucks are holding and hooking whenever they want, and never getting called.
Would the CBC cheerlead like this for the Canadiens ????
Anyway, people shouldn’t be surprised to see Ben Eager go after a Canuck, any Canuck especially a Sedin after Bieksa pounds Marleau. No one talks about that. Heck the broadcasters were practically laughing at the pounding Marleau took. hahaha Sedin tasted glass….
Vancouver looking good. Unreal to think that Laps and Higgins could very well hoist the Cup.
What is more thought provoking is that HIGGINS was a first line FWD centered by KOIVU three years ago. If Mulholtra (sp?) was there he would be on the 4th line. HIGGINS and many can thank HABS FANS for these crazy and undeserved contracts – geez.
– HABS INSIDE/OUT R.I.P. –
Kirk Muller has said his goodbyes to the franchise and has 5 teams interested in him!! What a lost that is for the habs. (NJ, Dallas, Ottawa, Minny and Philly surprisely)
Source?
In case anyone is interested, the Bulldogs clobbered the Aeros tonight, 8-1. Forced game 5. Allowed only 15 shots. Got 40 on goal themselves.
Worthy mentions:
Boyd 2G 2A +5
Palushaj 1G 2A +4
Dawes 2G +3
White 2A +2 29PIM
Avtsin played his second playoff game. 1 shot is all he put up, however, 0+/-. Likely little ice time.
Some effort for being down 3-0 in the series. They don’t want to go home yet.
Talk about coming out big when they need it. You gotta hope this sends a message for next game, because this is a pretty good AHL group.
Nice. I would have been upset had they been swept.
29 PM in one game? lol
Really weird question……. And totally off topic.
There was this commercial (forgot who was advertising it) but it had Strauss’s The Blue Danube Waltz, but sung by a guy saying “cool cool cool cool, not cool not cool” Does anyone remember who did the ad? My girlfriend and I are racking our brains trying to remember. Thanks!
This isn’t it but it uses the music.

Love Darche’s work ethic, wish more of our players had it. What I’m hoping for next season is that Darche continues to play at the same level but become a permanent 4th liner. This would mean a better better lineup ahead of him and that would be a good sign of progress for the Habs.
he is not crazy about games on cbc!
I love darche on 4th line with white and moen. Problem is when we have that same combination of guys scattered throughout 1st, 2nd and 3rd line.
Great Effort Boys, PG get to work this Summer!
Darche was my favorite player of the year. Don’t get me wrong, I love Soobs and Price, but Darche’s compete level is huge for a guy with lesser skills than those around him.
Darche is the kind of guy you just have to love. In case anyone hasn’t seen his Nos Canadiens special:
French: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjNvnsEMBSM
English: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1pVBT0Ew4I
And in both official languages.
How zeitgeisty.
I concur, Darche is a keeper.
It’s a no-brainer. Bring Darche back for another year.
Darche is a good 3rd liner, works hard and plays to win. unless they can find someone better I’d bring him back. He’s the best one in the bottom 6 and played more consistent than Gomez..Eller, or Halpern could replace Gomez..lot of money tied up……
You should consider changing your screen name here to: habstrasher365
Just a thought.
You should change your screen name to A–O
Oh no you di ent!
“You should change your screen name to A–O”
…O-A Angeler?
Hey! A post that doesn’t trash the Habs!!!
Darche is an excellent 4th liner. He’s passable as a 3rd liner if he’s the 3rd best player on that line.
* Ville Leino would make Sergei Samsonov look like Alex Kovalev *
I shouldn’t say that. Darche would make good a third liner on a team that gets Lots of goals from it’s first two lines. His 20 points / year just isn’t a luxury the Habs can afford to have on their third line.
* Ville Leino would make Sergei Samsonov look like Alex Kovalev *
I really get the impression Darche is a vain guy.
[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.
Eh? Is this an attempt at humor ?
If so, I don’t get it…
I can understand why
How so?
Great Effort Boys, PG get to work this Summer!
I’m guessing he isn’t getting liposuction.
i agree he should be back next year. i was hard on him at the beginning of last year but he def proved me wrong. gotta love his heart and his ability to fore check.
I sure hope they keep this guy. Plays with heart.
Expos, please come home.
Darche is a warrior and he plays with pride. He’s definitely a keeper and a steal at his price point. Easiest signing PG could make.
Speaking of PG, I like the ‘relatively’ minor signings for Emelin and Diaz. That sets things up nicely for Gill and Markov.
I’ve very curious who we’ll be targeting up front. There’s a need for scoring and a need for a bit of size and sandpaper… That’s the big ask. PG pulls this off and he’s a dead set legend.
