Third-period goals by Tyler Seguin and Chris Clark gave the Bruins a 2-1 win over the Canadiens on Monday, 24 hours after a 7-3 Bruins win in Halifax.
The Canadiens had grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second period when Michael Cammalleri scored on Tuukka Rask with less than five minutes to play in the frame.

News Flash. This is Montreal. These are the Canadiens we are talking about. If the pre-season games didn’t matter they wouldn’t play them. They matter. This is obviously the organization’s way of assessing it’s roster and it’s prospects. It’s also an opportunity for the players to gel a bit and get into game shape.
DEANDALLEY has it right about one thing he said tonight and in fact Perry Pearn said the same thing on RDS. We will see something closer to the opening line-up in the next two games. They need to get some time preparing for the season as a unit with as many of the starting roster as possible for the next two and last pre-season games.
The games mean something. Just like the Team A, Team B and Team C training camp scrimmages meant something.
Here’s another thing. Any time two teams play against each other, regardless of the circumstances both sides play to win. That is what matters.
Yeah they do mean something, but as far as W/L are concerned they mean nothing, if your preseason team goes 8-0 it doesn’t mean you have the best prospects in the league, nor if you go 1-7, it doesn’t means you have the worst. The preseason is about analyzing individual players and seeing where they stand (skill/speed/size) wise.

Your understanding of what preseason “obviously” is may differ slightly from the organization’s view. Of course we’ll see something closer to the opening line up soon though I wouldn’t count on a full starting roster appearing until the season opens in Toronto. Lots of time to let the kids audition for future roles and allow the vets to prepare.

Pre season is usually where you find out who can or cannot play with the big club. Who when camp started would have thought Gallagher would show so much and prehaps make the big team while some of the hyped ones should be shown houses in Hamilton. Where is the beef (Toughness)? We have cap room left and there are guys sitting around at home willing to play for $500,000- 750,000. Better pay than cleaning someone’s pool.

The loss is nothing. The Habs are still not icing a very strong team – or a group that is used to playing together.
On the positive:
- Price played pretty well… he’s getting near game form. Gorges and Spacek looked better – not great but better. (Gionta was invisible to me, but whatever.)
- Some of the rookies seem to have found a better footing… Diaz looked better than he has, Bournival had some nice flashes, a coupla other guys.
On the negative:
- It’s hard to get away from this feeling that we’re going to have trouble scoring goals AGAIN this season. I know, I know.. but it just sucks to see the Habs have trouble scoring over and over.
- Ya gotta wonder about the Campoli signing. We’ve gone from being stocked with too many D-men to being in need. What next? We’ll need a new back-up? Doh!

Another Habs’ L, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmm, when will it ever end? Okay I know two games left with their status of 1-5-0 and an opener against the mighty and maybe laughable Leafs but @ least the TO squad has got plenty of heart. Where is the heart, conviction, determination, grit, sweat, scorers, strong goaltending and players that can check and whatever else it takes to win a damn game. I don’t know if the worry will leave but the celebration is a long way off for this Habs squad of 2011/12. The season has not even opened yet I am reminded of last spring’s game seven loss and it is repeated with another horror show from the Habs nemesis, that is, last year’s Stanley Cup winners’ the Big Bad Boston Bruins and another crushing defeat! Enough!
YEAH, our roster players like St-Denis, Bournival and Ghallager almost looked like kids next to 12 of the 20 bruins out there… oh wait

Are they ever going to stop taking penalities all last year the same thing. Even if the game does not count………. the point is they cannot afford to take these stupid penalities. They played well to-nite & could have won this game……………It would have made them feel good.

2009-2010 Chicago Blackhawks went 2-3 (and then lost 2-1 to fecking ZURICH)(just sayin’)
2008-2009 Pittsburgh Penguins went 3-1
2007-2008 Detroit Red Wings went 6-3
2006-2007 Anaheim Ducks went 1-3 (including a 7-1 loss to LA)
The point being that 3 of the past 5 Stanley Cup Champions had losing preseasons. And TheDagger reminded me that last years Calgary Flames won all their preseason games… and we know how THEIR season went.

So the reason for Pre season is to get players back into the speed of the game, and to evaluate young talent, and start getting chemistry to work. Am I wrong to assume that? JM has 2 games with most of his team to get them to mesh. Maybe thats why JM does so much line juggling all year round, he doesnt use Preseason at all to help with that. Gallagar is great, but whats he doign playing on a line with Plecs and cams, no cole, no patchs??? Gomez and Gianta got a rookie too. IMHO just stupid. AND 2 NHL Defenceman per game, poor goalies

I live in Kitchener and get to see him with the knights whenever they come to town and he is a solid player who’s not afraid to drop the gloves. But as far as this training camp goes, he doesn’t look out of place.
