Kind of off topic but.. when Mats dropped the puck the other night I had to take a double take. I was excited for a split second, as at first glance I thought it was Billy Corgan!

    GO HABS!

  2. 24 Cups says:

Ian – Matthias being sent down is a bit of a surprise to me. I wish he was a Habs’ prospect.

  3. habsfan reduxit says:

… to offer this visually rude comment against M. Sundin, someone who has never disrespected thge Habs, is certainly below the high standard we have a right to expect from a blog dedicated to the Montreal Canadiens, the classiest team in pro sports.

  4. AndyF says:

Ok, so no one feels like I do. Sincerely, thanks for your feedback. Maybe I should have had de-caf this morning or something.

Bush, Palin, or Chretien jokes have always left me a bit cold. I’m just not into the pointing-and-laughing-at-victim thing.

  5. Trakman says:

you should be embarassed to bring this up. This is satire, satire for a guy who had (noticed HAD) many teams waiting for him to make up his mind…

Mats is a big boy – he can take… if not – get him some tissues…

  6. Bugs says:

    Yeah?
Well, Alfie fired the puck at him because he KNEW that Niedermayer was gonna sit out half a season like a pansie. How’s that? Alfie was INSULTED for the game. He could see the future.
Alfie, thank god, IS the Senators. Without Alfie, morale disappears.
It’s GOOD to be happy that he’s out for a bit.
Heatley and Spezza can’t carry; how many times must we witness this?
    Goody-goody for us, I say.
    Alfie, get well…
    That is all.
    Peace Out.

  7. Bugs says:

It’s not a gratuitous insult, it’s a joke, Andy. If his weight was a well known issue, it wouldn’t be made fun of. Pretty sure Sundin would laugh this off more than say…dressing him up as Viking slave girl with blondie braids.
Think we’d get a reaction outta THAT more than this goofy photoshop, c’mon. It’s like making fun of his non-existent limp or lisp.
Personally, I find the thing scary.
What if he comes back as goalie?
    We’re in Baaaarney.
    Barney Ru’bble.
    Trou’ble!
    Peace Out.

Alfie being injured is actually good news to the Sens.

  9. AndyF says:

You mean, “Get *my* sense of humour, Dude”, don’t you? :-)

I just wanted to point out that it’s probably not funny to everyone, that’s all. I’m ok with you finding it funny. I hope you’re ok with me not finding it funny.

  10. gauvinator says:

uhhh…anybody want to buy some tix? Only $10k!

Get a sense of humour dude!

  13. Harani says:

I actually agree with you Andy! I mean where is all the respect going with sports…just because we are fans, we don’t have to over do it. It’s a a lame insult and also, logically…almost all the hockey player are big-made. (Did you see Laraque?) Lolzz…maybe not as huge but still…it is unnecessary!

  14. mrstewart61 says:

And what about some respect for people suffering from obesity?

If we see you at the summit, I’ll have hubby give you some great photoshop tips (ask him about the Thighmaster 2000). BTW, I would have have edited out the tats: )

  16. tony d says:

who knows, we might just ‘bump’ into each other/
I hear they have an outdoor celebration planned from 5-7
    live music, etc..

  17. N.B.habs fan says:

We will raise the banner soon…….Thanks Ian,allway good to here from you .GOOD STUFF……..

  18. coutNY says:

I hear you buddy…. Sundin would never wear such a sexually explicit teeshirt!

  19. AndyF says:

I feel almost embarassed to bring this up, but does anyone else feel Sundin’s photoshopped image is a little harsh? We want a forum that encourages respectful discussion. I don’t mind people having strong opinions, but I think gratuitous insults are another matter. I guess I feel that image is a bit over-the-top.

One man’s joke is another’s insult. I’m just representing the latter interpretation…

  20. coutNY says:

Very nice jesture… Be careful she’s probably expecting a something shinny on her finger come on the 25th of December! Those tickets could have actually cost you $10k…LOL

  21. gauvinator says:

    Who’s Mats Sundin?

Anyways, need to tell SOMEONE and I know all of you guys will appreciate this: FedEx just showed up at the door and, to surprise me for my birthday (big surprise too cuz it ain’t til January!), the girlfirend got me tickets to the Nov 22nd Roy retirement game!!!!!! How awesome is that?!!?!?

Was already going to be in town too (Mom’s bday) but figured I’d be watching it at the Peel…section 305 here I come!!!!!!

    We take Buffalo tonight, 3-1.

  22. JIMVINNY says:

That’s debatable. He idd fire the puck right at Scotty Nieds, after all. I’m just not convinced he’s the nice guy everyone makes him out to be.

  23. Remy92 says:

Agreed.. It made me chuckle til I realized it’s not only a poke at Sundin but at oversized people too… and no you shouldn’t be embarrassed for thinking this way, that’s ridiculous and anyone who says otherwise, simply put, is a fool. Some people take hockey waaaaaaay too seriously and coming from me that’s really bad….

  24. the_larry says:

This might not be the right place for you if something as silly and harmless as this, insulting.

  25. the_larry says:

$10k??? Id be a sucker not to buy them :p

  26. Chuck says:

I’ll be there, too… wearing a red Lapointe #5. Say hi if you see me!

  33. Ian G Cobb says:

Put him in net for a guaranteed shut out!!!

  34. Bianca says:

Bahahaha… the puck would get lost in his rolls.

  35. Ian G Cobb says:

Junior A news—Just had a great talk with PK Suban at the rink this morning.

He is pretty excited to be a part of this great Canadiens organization.

He signed and gave me his stick for the Summit raffle and contribution to the Bob Gainey foundation.

He is going to check out this site and we might get a few words on here from him.

On other news, Shawn Mathias was sent down to the AHL Rochester affiliate of the Florida Panthers to-day.

Don’t be shy PK, say a few words if you see this.
    Ian

  36. Naila Jinnah says:

    Yey! Go PK!

    And thanks, Ian :)

Edit: Oh, you guys already said that. : )

    1. http://www.flickeringpictures.com – not a hockey site, but still kinda neat
    2. Josh Gorges on Montreal’s attack: “They’re comin’, they’re comin’ and they keep comin’. Just line after line, wave after wave…”

  39. tony d says:

I’m off to Buffalo in a few hours to see our boys take on the Sabres in their home opener. I’m so excited/nervous… I’m sure I’ll bump into many Buffalonians that look like that photoshopped Mats.
A few summers ago I bumped into several of them at 6 flags Darien lake, no seriously I mean how can you not bump into them.
    Go Habs Go
I’ll post my up close observations of our boys performance much later tonight.

  40. cautiousoptimist says:

Aw come on, Alfie’s one of the classy ones.

  41. Robert L says:

Hope he has signed with the Red Wings!

  42. coutNY says:

After that Wing performance against the “laffables” last night it wouldn’t surprise me. They looked less than impressive in their ceremonial debut…

  43. P.Royfan says:

    HAHAHA I love it!!!

  44. nick says:

Dang. I just added him to my hockey pool :P

  45. HabsColor says:

It seems Ton has removed cancer (Minus Mats Sundin, Bryan McCabe and Darcy Tucker) and revived…

Honestly, with the new coach and young guns, Ton looks a different team.

  46. HAB-a-dabba says:

Priceless. And I’m sure the boo-birds will greet him warmly, whenever he graces the Bell Centre :D

Hope he can get his skates under him. LOL
