The Canadiens placed forward Dustin Boyd on waivers on Monday.

Boyd was a healthy scratch five times this season and has one goal in nine games.

Boyd was acquired by the Canadiens during the offseason, along with Dan Ellis, from the Nashville Predators for Sergei Kostitsyn. The restricted free agent signed a one-year deal with the Canadiens on July 1.

Pat Hickey reports from Brossard Monday morning, where the Canadiens were preparing for Tuesday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks, that Maxim Lapierre was on a line with Scott Gomez and Andrei Kostitsyn, while Brian Gionta was with Tomas Plekanec and Michael Cammalleri.

Really?  That’s shite, what’s the difference if your 35 or 25?  If you send anyone down, it should free up that contract against the cap.  SO basically the only way to deal with the salary is trade them to some team that has ample cap space that can take on the contract.

White is a future 3rd liner IMO. Potential top 6 prospects as of now would be Pacioretty and Palushaj on the wing. After Pacioretty’s comments last week it’s unlikely he gets called up. I could see them calling up White or Desharnais, that’s it.

Except that Spacek’s contract doesn’t come off the cap no matter what the Habs do so that doesn’t help anything, thank you over-35 contracts in the CBA, love to get my hands on the guy who wrote that one in.

I kind of agree, they could have kept them together and put them with a winger that has some hockey sense.

By the way, “1 goal/ 8 millions”, Gomez is not a scorer.  2 assist in 13 games, that is the correct statistic to show he is struggling.  He is +/-0, which is not bad.  Not good either.
