This is not an April Fools joke. Habs suck, go Canucks!
just heard a rumor that J Martin will be Stepping Down as coach news at 4 pm
Nice April Fool’s try!
We all know that there’s only one GM in the whole league crazy enough to pull a stunt like that a week before playoffs start and we play his team next lol! However its possible the team would respond better if one Captain Kirk were calling the shots. He actually played the game at a high level and has a ring for his efforts. Players respect that. JM??? What’s he ever won in 25 years of coaching? ‘Nuff said!
“just shut up and play against him” – BG
“The Leafs won in Boston and looked terrific. Did we mention your Montreal Canadiens end their regular season in Toronto?”
LOL so what?

“To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high!”
Just remember Montreal made Boston look weak beating them 4-0 before Chara went WWF on Max’s head. The team has not been the same since. So is the team afraid because they believe the refs and league will look the other way. Maybe JM should address this to the team ask are you afraid to play now. Maybe they should bring up some one to fight from the dogs and the players can think about hockey. I know one thing this team can’t pass or pick up a pass and that maybe from looking whos around.
In spite of all the hype, the Leafs still have a real goaltending issue. Reimer plays way too small, does not have great rebound control, and in my opinion, has been getting a lot of lucky breaks. The B’s went high glove all 3 times in the SO, and missed completely twice. The 3rd guy did not get it high enough. He plays very small and compact, and the upper half of the net is open (if you can hit it). He’s a flash in the pan.
saw the leafs game last night. leafs played well against this big, bruising team with lots of skill…almost made me jealous compared to the last game the habs played….then i reminded myself we are still in a playoff spot and the leafs are not. leafs look like an up and coming team but its… wait until next year for them.
not sure about all this talk about the players tuning martin out. it seems a littlt late in the season for this to happen. martin is not going to change his ways ..tuning him out would have taken place earlier in the season but who really knows.
have to admit sopel has been terrible since being aquired and mara toughness is good but he can harldy skate. to many minutes for players given their age and being asked to do things that do not fit there skill level.
Some one said Price looked tired. Have to think there is something to that. how many games did he steal this year quite a few i suspect. Given the depleted defence and lack of scoring carey has way to much pressure on him . he can only do so much. i feel sorry for the kid and have been shaking my head the last several weeks as the season closes.
god help gauthier/martin if some how the team misses the playoffs.
Hey, i just noticed that the thumbs up and down are gone. Two thumbs up for that!!!
Hats off to all the rookie call ups that got the Habs this far withb their great fill in roles. They couldn’t have done it without you. Now it’s time for the vets to tighten their boot straps and go deep into the playoffs again this year. 13, 14, 11, and 21 have got to get going. Period. The Habs are going golfing without them, early April. Carey can only do so much and he has been great.
***Habs Forever***
in my opinion, the veterans are hurt and tired, which is a terrible combination.
Plekanec and Cammy especially.
its time to use these guys less – not more.
let them rest and recover somewhat.
so we will finish 8th???
what’s the difference between 8th, 7th, or 6th???
pick your poison.
I would rather finish 8th with a rested Plekanec and Cammy, than finish 7th or 6th with them hobbling to the finish line.
Habs hockey is “smart” hockey – we play 5 man defence, not just 2 – we move up the ice as a 5 man unit, we back check with 5.
Rest Cammy, Pleks and maybe Gill and Hamrlik. Do we have the talent to clinch with subs?
***Subbang Baby!!!***
yes. we can clinch with subs.
Habs hockey is “smart” hockey – we play 5 man defence, not just 2 – we move up the ice as a 5 man unit, we back check with 5.
Remarks from @HockeyProspect on Twitter Regarding D Jarred Tinordi.
“Tinordi is playing great. He has improved all year long.”
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Just to go off topic for a second….I posted this in an earlier thread, but I think it’s worth repeating…
Those of you old enough to drive (or still young enough), you might want to gas up sometime today:
http://news.sympatico.ca/home/contentposting_april/massive_gas_price_increase_overnight/ab0a8a0f
I admit it, you got me.
[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.
People here are so short-sighted and have very short memories. Attitudes change like the weather. If you life is over or your moid is altered b/c you dislike your hockey team or it’s in a slump then perhaps you need to look in the mirror and ask yourself what went wrong…..with your life???….and make changes there where you have a tad more influence on the outcome.
What? Rational thought? Be gone with you Satan!
Guarantee the moment we clinch a playoff spot the mood around here starts to swing in the other direction.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
Armchair pyschology isn’t rational thought, Brewster.
Wanting your top players to show up more isn’t you compensating for your drinking problem, c’mon.
It’s either think it and don’t rant or think it and rant. This place is for the rants. Rants are FUELED by “mood”, yes? C’mon.
I don’t remember all this double-talk about “moods” when we were WINNIN. And that we “should look in the mirror” instead and see what we’re compensatiing for that makes us feel GOOD when we’re winnin; what the hell is that?
C’mon.
They stink right now, we’re losin right now, and we don’t put up with that here; it ain’t complicated. Only natural that the posts get spicier as the tension rises so screw the dang mirror.
You think folks come here for the gummy-bear talk at the end of the day? Hell, no! They come here for the MOOD, baby.
Chillin like MacMillan, potty-boy says he’s L. B. Potter, esq.
Point taken. This place definitely has mood, no question. I’ve gigged in biker bars with far less mood.
I’m not much of a ranter or raver so the angst and vitriolic comments kind of turn me off. I’d prefer it done in verse, but that’s just me:
We’re looking for answers from Marty
A guy who we thought was a smarty.
So far he has proven
He can’t manage young men
And with oldies he’s is far less than hearty
***Subbang Baby!!!***
You tried to rhyme “proven” with “men”? Aaauuuugggghhhhhh.
“We’re looking for answers from Marty

Everybody needs an editor at some point…
Losing faith in Martin, and thinks the fans well soon be turning on Price once again, which is to bad because unless they change the rules and let the goal tenders bring the puck across the red line it’s going to be hard for him to score goals. My wife tells me that she hears me call to many of the players by the same first name now the name starts with an F and it’s not Fred.
Price couldnt score any more than any body else, he has to be responsible defensively and show anal-discipline first and foremost.
[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.
I don’t see any way the fans will turn on Price.
I don’t feel that at all.
The fans are not stupid, they know that without Price we’re not in the playoffs.
Price would have to say something stupid to the media (about the fans), or gesture negatively to the fans, for them to blame him for anything.
The fans are booing Gomez every time he touches the puck,
The french media has been on Gomez all season long.
Thankfully most of the games are on the road.
Habs hockey is “smart” hockey – we play 5 man defence, not just 2 – we move up the ice as a 5 man unit, we back check with 5.
don’t agree fans turning on price. that would just be terrible. the guy has played his ass off. players losing faith in martin i guess its possible but the timing of it all does not make sense.
Last night’s Leafs-Bruins game was the best game I’ve seen all week. The Leafs have almost no chance of making the playoffs, but the way they’ve been playing lately, they deserve it more than we do. They looked great last night. Their young guys, instead of being nailed to the bench for every mistake, are being given the chance to play. Even if they’re definitely out of the playoffs when we face them, they’ll go on fighting to the end. I don’t give much for our chances in that game unless we get a lot more playoff ready than we’ve looked lately.
Their young guys are playing mainly because they arent likely to make the playoffs. The habs are in a legitimate fight for their playoff lives and like it or not the veterans must lead the charge. Its much more important moving forward into the playoff picture giving the playing time to the likes of pleks and cammi and gio, instead of giving that ice time to players like white, eller, and desharnais.
Once a Habs fan Always a Habs fan! GO HABS GO!
But the veterans aren’t getting the job done, and they make at least as many mistakes as the young guys. Pleks and Cammy are almost certainly playing injured, and everyone looks frustrated and discouraged. We need to score goals, and we need to play with intensity and desperation. We’re doing neither, while the Leafs are doing both.
Trouble is the vets have been abysmal.
The Habs are in sixth place for a reason. They played their hearts out the entire season despite the colossal injuries that they had to face all year. People are looking at how amazing the loafs are but forget their own collapse during the midway point of the season. The Leafs and canes are where they are for a reason and we are where we are for a reason. Granted the Habs have not shown the emotion or drive that they should have at this late stage but there are still points to be had and if anyone feels that the Habs will be unable to obtain even 2 of the possible 8 points then you truly have lost faith. The sky isnt falling its just a little foggy at the moment.
Once a Habs fan Always a Habs fan! GO HABS GO!
The habs need a bench clearing brawl.
[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.
Either you guys are aiding and abetting FHF’s April Fool’s pranked, or you done been pranked yourselves. Either way, tee hee.
SK74 is third on his team in scoring with 45 pts. Cammy is third on the Habs with 43 pts. Only about $5 million salary difference for less production. We have 2 more just like that. No wonder the Habs are on life support with 4 games left.
***Habs Forever***
After the Chara/Max Pac incident, the Habs lost their MOJO and have been a shell of their former selves. Watching the Boston/Leafs game last night clearly showed that the Habs have turtled as a team instead of uniting as a result of the Max hit and are not a playoff ready team. I have a funny feeling they’ll be on the outside looking in and we who have laughed all year at the Leafs’ chance of a playoff berth will be in for a surprise.
Well the Leaf out of necessity are doing something right they letting the young guys play and they getting better
Sound familiar?

Torts is a punk a$$ coach who should be fired immediately. He lets his team get the cr&p beat out of them and then gives the isles coach a dirty look at the end of the game. Torts is a punk and he had his team play like punks. Any coach that lets his team get pushed aropund like he did in the first period and throughout the game should be fired .

Hey torts …you think after 2 years you could teach them how to work a power play…you waste. All you can teach them is how to turn the other cheek.
