• AUDIO: Jacques Martin | Josh Gorges, on Donald Fehr | Scott Gordon (begins speaking about Bruno Gervais) | John Tavares | Bruno Gervais
From Pat Hickey in Long Island:
Travis Moen will start tonight’s game against the New York Islanders on a line with Scott Gomez and Brian Gionta.
Goaltender Alex Auld makes his first start of the season for the 6-2-1 Canadiens.
Also making his first start of the season is Islanders defenceman Bruno Gervais. The only twist is that Gervais will be used as a forward on a line with Zenon Konopka and Jon Sim.
Dwayne Roloson gets the start in goal for the Islanders for the second straight game against Montreal, having made 33 saves in the Isles’ 5-3 loss to the Canadiens Wednesday at the Bell Centre.
There was thought that Rick DiPietro would get coach Scott Gordon’s call to play nets. DiPietro had planned to wear pink pads and gloves into action as a tribute to an aunt he lost to breast cancer, tonight being the Islanders Against Cancer night as part of the league-wide, month-long awareness campaign. The Canadiens’ event is tomorrow at home against Florida.

good one
I am delighted about it, delighted! Though you have to admit that they would not be in this position had they traded for Halak.
Come on, he’s almost a goal worse GAA than Thomas!
I don’t recall anyone claiming Halak is a one-hit wonder like Steve Penney, although it is possible that a few trollers said things like that. Unfortunately posts like yours fuel the fire for such people. There were two central issues with Price and Halak: player potential and cap space. The team made its decision. I wish Halak all the best in his career, but he will not be Jacques Plante or Ken Dryden.

I can’t believe we didn’t get Ovechkin for him!!!

Anyone else happy the Leafs are back to normal?
And that Seguin scored against his supposed to be Maple Leafs team?
Yup, the Leafs are falling.

I have to admit that Moen adds jam and grit to that line and hopefully can spark Gionta and Gomez. But, I
still believe that Pouliot is the eventual answer to that line. JM should let the three play until they gel.
The way Gionta was hacking away at the net against the Isles it’s just a matter of time before the pucks be-
gin to go in and Pouliot has been more assertive around the net, so why not put the two together.
Now, as for Gomez his play is that of a playmaker and not scorer, but I cringe at his end to end rushes which
tend to be now predictable and subsequently defended. He should be leading the rush with quick and precise
passess while involving others in the transition game. I believe this is how Gomez can be more effective if he
can dish the puck smartly and quickly in transition rather than single-handedly bringing up the puck.
Some lines take longer than others to get going, but in the end Gionta and Gomez will find their game.
Go Habs Go!
What about Boyd with G and G. Has that been tried?

True, but would you take Moore or Boyd? Boyd seems to have more upside… Moore gave it all every night.
I feel like the most recent trades had to do with dumping player agents.
And I’m glad Halak is playing well, in the West.
“Where’s those geniuses who were saying he was Steve Penny lol?”
Maybe they are hanging out with the same bunch who said there was no way the Habs were making the playoffs last year and that even if they did, there was no possible way they could beat the Pens or Capitals.
Can he play with Gomez and Gionta?
According to a University of Toronto health study, apparently supporting the Toronto Maple Leafs can also lead to penile dysfunction.

Yawn…
Anything else you wanna say about Halak?
When is he gonna solve global starvation, poverty and terrorism?
That’s a sick human being, not someone who pitches a shutout vs the Nashville Predators.
Just wanted to let you know….
