Rehabbing Canadiens defenceman Andrei Markov leans into a slap shot today during morning skate at Mellon Arena.

Canadiens defenceman Andrei Markov, still nursing a right knee injury, had his first full equipment practice with his teammates this morning, but coach Jacques Martin was non-committal about any use of the Russian all-star tonight.
Hal Gill will be a game-time decision. With bodies getting healthier, Martin still said he didn’t believe his team needed eight defencemen. One scenario tonight, should Gill be ready to go, would see Marc-André Bergeron moving up to a forward spot with perhaps Mathieu Darche taking a press box seat.
Defenceman Hal Gill talks with coach Jacques Martin this morning. Allen McInnis, Gazette

He’s perfect to have around especially in a cap world because he’s cheap. He’ll cost about $750000, and so would Dandy. Dandy would love to come back, he wanted to come back, he’s french, he’s won a cup, he’s fast as hell, can hit, throws his body on the line, night in and night out, basically is a mix of Gorges/Gill rolled into one, but with a lot more speed, and again a cheap cap hit. $750000 would get him here and all the money we save by signing these two guys, and getting rid of hammer leaves us more money to sign pleks/jaro/price and 6 other guys who’s roster spots are open for next year! Sounds like a good plan to me
Shaker
But when the NHL is in a salary cap era, what’s makes sense doesn’t always make business sense! My point is that he is a decent D-man with a lot of offensive skills and the most important fact in this story is that he is a cheap cap hit. When the almighty dollar has the final call on so many teams….cheap cap hit and lots of offense = a bargain hardly worth passing up.
SHaker
AGREED. WE ARE ALL HABS FAN AND THE WIN IS THE ONLY THING…WHO CARES WHAT THE ROSTER MAKEUP IS. RIGHT ON!
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
check his minutes on NHL.com he’s been playing lots of minutes in pretty much every game here in the playoffs except for maybe a game or two. Anyhow, you don’t like him, and I do. I just hope we win tonight!
Cheers!
Shaker
His inability to keep the puck in during a PP is surely a strong negotiating point…
We have Subban and Markov for next year, signing a 1-dimensional PP specialist who can’t keep the puck in on the point and is a liability on 3rd-pair defence doesn’t make sense.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Not his agent, just president of his fan club. And Jaro’s as well. I’m always taking on new members if your interested?
And he fits on the roster and lineup because of his shot, his quick puck movement and his ability to skate. Yes he makes some bonehead plays now and again, but he’s the only guy who’s knocked Crosby on his arce this series and has actually played decent overall. But again his french background, offensive skills, cheap cap hit and versatility will be a very interesting scenario for PG when July 1st comes around.

Love how all the MAB lovers are unanimous in saying +/- is a meaningless over rated stat. Ummmmm….ok. LOL
Kinda like some fans earlier in the year saying WINS were a team stat and not a goalie stat and over rated crap. Ummmmm…..ok.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Dandenault isn’t coming back, Defence next year will be Markov, OB, Subban, Spacek, Gill, Gorges and somebody, but I doubt Dandenault, team will look for a more reliable defensive defencemen than Mara was and go in that direction, but they’ll want size as well. MAB is a luxury item, an offensive defencemen whose only skill is on the PP and in a cap world he’s just not worth having around when you have two elite blueliners in Subban and Markov.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
He’s minus 11 as a defenseman, and when you play mostly on the PP you don’t have a lot of opportunities to change that. Almost all of those minuses have been against the Caps who were specifically targetting MAB. Anyways, +/- is one of the most overrated stats in hockey. There’s no denying he’s a terrible defenseman 5 on 5, but he can’t be that bad defensively as a winger.
His inability to keep the puck in on the PP and his inabilty to do anything other than the big shot on the PP make him a liability.
I imagine you have noticed the Pens tend to fire the puck up his side on the PK? When the Pens squeeze him to neutralize his shot he lacks the imagination to make any other play with the puck.
The fact he plays limited 5 on 5 and is still a playoff leading MINUS 11. Is my point.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Are you MAB’s agent dude? That is the only possible explanation for your constant desire for him on the roster and lineup.
That line might work when he negotiates a new contract. NOT!
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Basically dress him as 4th line forward and only play him on the PP…. renders the +- arguement moot. That’s my point.
Yes, a little prayer goes a long way! Heck i’ve been doing that so far my prayers were answered!
I have Faith, I believe!
His cheap price tag and his offensive upside are going to keep him here my friend.
The D will look like this next year.
Markov/Subban
Gorges/Gill
Spacek/MAB and Dandenault will be coming back. Hammer getting traded or bought out and Dandy and MAB costing about 1.5mill together leaves alot of money left over to get some size and scoring for up front!
Cheers,
Shaker
haahah that one is perhaps the funniest one of them all…. the slow motion skating looks like Demitra and Bolland are ball room dancing
Not sure if triple OT would cut it … Let’s make it quadruple OT to ensure that they finish it off on their b-day.
His own coach said that you might as well flip a coin. Very inspiring.
Lol thats great love the part with Ovechkin at the end.
I know its been posted before but this pre game montage from game 6 is awesome.

“Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.”
Forget the half-measures JD, The Pens Meltdown 2010 is on!
You do know that the +/- stat is the most useless stat in the history of the NHL right? But to also let you know, the whole team is a minus. Anyway, he’s gonna get a big goal on the PP tonight for the habs!
Shaker
Yes I do. What is your point? Carry on.
Pleks had two assits was a plus two and was 16-5 on faceoffs last game. What did Gomez do last game? What did the PP do last game? Carry on.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
DUDE IS A MINUS 11! If it was anyone else like AK, SK, Pouliot, O’Byrne, Darche, Maxwell, Moore, Lats…..he would be playing in a beer league in Moncton.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Oh for crying out loud, they’re turning out ANOTHER one, the new ratio is a HWBM commercial for every playoff game played apparently.
Besides, wouldn’t “What if Luongo could be clutch?” be a better headline? Granted, I’m sure some endeavouring YouTubers are taking care of that right now.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
“When you play the best-of-seven, usually the best team wins,” Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik said. “So, I think we’re pretty confident going into it.”
That’s a little arrogant – don’t you think. Hope they hammer these guys!
You do know PP stats don’t count towards +- right? Of course you do…carry on
And what about Pleks invisibility lately has you putting him on unit1?
So I was thinking what about using MAB as a RW 5 on 5 and have him on ice with PK Subban. When PK gets the puck, he can skate up along the right wing boards while MAB drops back in the high slot ready to receive a one timer. The rest of the time he could just float around in the upper slot or right faceoff circle waiting to shoot while Moen sets a screen.
Later on in the game if we have a good lead MAB could be used as a sort of third defenseman protecting the left side of the blue line along the boards, while PK protects the right side, and either O’Byrne or Hal gill protecting the front of the net like a free safety in football (sounds like a cover 3). How’s MAB as a forward on the PK BTW. He could take the spot of one of our skilled forwards like Gomez who is better utilized when trying to score.
What do you guys think?
captain Bob aka Gainey has had some bad years personally, wouldn’t this be sweet.
If anyone hasn’t seen this video, OMG it’s really funny:
http://www.videoportal.sk/sport/wuzzup-halak.html
It’s the WAZZUUPPPPP commercial, but with Halak instead….beautiful, beautiful.
“These head movies make my eyes rain” -Simple Jack
Triple OT. Subban with the winner and Halak with the win on their birthdays.
Buddy of mine told me RDS is reporting Gill is in tonight!!!
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
GO HABS GO! Anyone hear anything new regarding Gill?
Can our hearts take it? Just the thought of an OT game made my heart race a tad too fast for my liking. A regulation win will be just fine for me. Is that asking too much?
PK! PK! PK!
I almost have a heart attack when they try to protect a 1-goal lead at the end of a game… Can’t even imagine if it goes to OT!!!
I like to think of Jesus with giant eagle’s wings, singin’ lead vocals for Lynard Skynyrd with an angel band and I’m in the front row and I’m hammered drunk.
Shaaddduuupppp……. WIN ONLY!
oops double post
Is there a game tonight???
Just kidding! GO HABS GO!!!!!
My prediction 4-3 Habs again, but this time in OT!!!!
Can our hearts take it???????
You won’t see him in the red white and blue next year my friend.
http://shmitzysays.wordpress.com/2010/05/12/i-bet-i-can-make-you-smile/
I think Fleury will start but he may not last one period.
….Hab4life….
One: you don’t put a player in that position in a SEVENTH game dude.
Two: Metro is a gamer but is suffering from his busted up shoulder so that negates taking faceoffs and having any kind of a shot.
Thre: He scored 10 garbage goals from within 3 feet of the net not from the blueline.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Really? How many PP goals does he have? The only stat I see is his MINUS 11!! That means he has been on the ice for ELEVEN goals more than he has when the team has scored.
Important to the PP?? Really??
Gomez should be on the SECOND unit and Pleks on the FIRST.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Sit MAB. We’re better rolling 4 lines with Darche. Tonights going to be a mostly 5-on-5 game and both teams are going to be playing a disciplined style. They won’t rely on the PP to win it but on good even strength play aka LAPS/Pyatt/ Moore.
dear babay jesus,
plz let the habs win
Do they have the …? lol
“So when the penguin takes a step, its center of mass is low, so when he stops coming up over his leg, the mass moves to the side…and it’s high now, and as it starts rocking backward, it starts falling to the side, it’s also falling forward.” – Tim Griffin, University of California at Berkeley
Falling, indeed.
The Habs, otherwise known as the NHL’s DestinyTeam2010™, continue their righteous march down the gloried path to preordained greatness tonight, sealing the deal on that other notable event, namely the Pittsburgh Penguins Meltdown 2010™.
Even the bashers, so utterly confident in their self-loathing when the chips were down, and now quietly and disingenuously changing the subject, have come around. You know who you are. Everyone here does. Take solace: All is forgiven. Hopefully – albeit not necessarily…I’m cool with that - you will exercise thoughtful restraint when the minutiae of next year’s long season blurs the otherwise inarguable notion that Habs braintrust, both present and of the recent past, gets it.
Getting it doesn’t necessarily deliver success, in particular when it comes to those nefarious handcuffs that one must don when entrusted with the running of one of Montreal’s most prized assets, but getting it absolutely guarantees heart, and we’ve seen what that can do.
For all my perpetual Other Team Meltdown 2010™ bluster, I don’t know what’s going to happen tonight. I do, however, know that there’ll be one team out there that, although it may have nothing to lose, will find greater motivation in its desire to win.
Sid knows all about being a winner. Love him or hate him, it’s what underpins his character. And it’s clearly disquieting for him to know the other side is loaded with guys who are, as the English are wont to say, up to snuff.
So, bring it on. Bring on the mighty Pens. The Mellon is ripe for the picking.
It’s just hockey, eh?
Right.
JD
WE WILL SUCCEED! We have the Pens by the balls baby! They never expected us to be the beast they have encountered! This beast is hungry!
I really hope that we can win tonight. I haven’t had this much fun watching the playoffs since 2001 ( Roy and Colorado) and I really don’t want it to end. Just like Washington win one road game tonight. Go Habs Go!
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
Who gets the start in net tonight?
:p
Our defense improves when you take him off it. Our team improves when you take him off the ice completely.
GO HABS GO! Win or lose this has been a great playoff run!
It is bizarre to me how much better Hammer plays when Marky is out of the line-up. Cast into the background when the big Russian is there, Hammer’s game lags. But when Andrei is injured, the Roman Hammer seems to take it upon himself to carry the extra load. I expect a big game from him and Spacek tonight. They may be old and a little run-down, but they are thoroughbreds whose blood stirs in the home stretch.
MAB is a huge liability on defense, but is immensely effective on the PP. Both he and Gomez are the focal points of the PP. MAB must play (throw him on the 4th line) if only on PP. An injured Gill or Markov remains a better option on defense than MAB. Our team inproves if you take MAB off defense and make him a 4th liner /power play specialist.
He should be we have two former leafs Moore and Gill HEART and SOUL
GO HABS GO!!!!
T-MINUS 6.0 HOURS
Wish I knew why Jackie is so enamoured with MAB. Is it just the sense of adventure? A desire to live dangerously? I’d much rather have Darche out there bumping and grinding on the 4th line, than MAB out there for 4 minutes (if we’re lucky) of PP time, firing a shot into the shin pads of a d-man a foot in front of him. That is, when he actually manages to control the puck at the blue line.
Awsome or AWFULl
I would not mind seeing Metro back on the PP playing the point.
No I’m not crazy 1- he has an accurate shot (remember the skills competition. 2- If necessary he can take a faceoff 3- he is not a defensive liability 4- He DID score 10 PP goals this year
No, the other guy. Kipper actually gave Montreal some respect.
He’s (Millard) also never played the game (fairly clueless) and to his credit, Kypreos told him he was wrong. I think Kipper is on the bandwagon!
Does that not explain it. Who was it Kypper?
Go Cammy !!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zylg-cmxHJY
This guy on hockey central at noon is a tool. He just said he didn’t think Montreal deserved to go to the final, then admits he’s a Leaf fan. Gimme a break.
I said the exact same thing a few days ago.
Couldn’t stop smiling the whole time I read that!!
What if it told you Chara was a -27 in 06/07 and he was an all star that year. Wins and +/- have far more to do with a team as a whole as opposed to an individual player. BTW im not an MAB lover, I’m saying to use him sparingly at FORWARD and not use him at all on D, except as a third defenseman maybe.
This is going to be an awesome game. I think/hope that the Pens have a little bit of doubt in their minds.
I doubt they do, but hey, you never know.
Can the Habs close out the Mellon center the same way they opened it, with a win againt the Pens?

team canada trailing the swiss 2-1 after 1st period. usually i’d care. today, nope.
Early in the second Switzerland 3 Canada 1
Kind of hope Darche gets to play. I’ve had thoughts of him assisting on a big goal in the third period – a pass from behind the net.
Never doubt the doubt.

Hope we go with 7- D. Bergeron only on D for PP. Bergeron just makes me too nervous with a regular shift.
Darche has to be odd man out. Some games Jacques hardly uses 4th line. This will be one of those games.
GO HABS GO!
I think its because his shooting accuracy and speed were lacking. Funny how that works out
Okay, when your alarm clock randomly selects Bryan Adams – We’re Gonna Win (good song by the way) for the wake up call this morning you know it’s simply meant to be. Given, it was just a Bryan Adams CD – but still I’ll take it!
GO HABS!! Man, I am so nervous. I actually get to get off work early to watch the game LIVE. Make us all proud out there tonight boys. They are going to do it.
Wow – I dont know what to say but within the last 24 hours or so, many things have been coming to mind – I’ve been thinking what if we loose “am still happy” what if we win “is this the year the Habs win? and I travel to Montreal for the parties and celebreat the following Habs playoff run in MTL?” Man I am sooo nervous/scared/shaky/restless/worried/confident/anxious/ most of all EXCITED!. Game 7 is being talked about all over the place, once busniess hours opened here its all you hear, its all you see is Habs support and a few of Pens.
These Habs have to play with their HEART and SOUL for the game tonight – I cannot watch this team go down after all that has happen this season. I am happy they have got this far and can go further. with my believes, I am so sure we’re going to the next round!.
Like Come On, Last Canadian team standing – They have a big couch of Canadians rooting for them – They have history in the MAKING! – At the begining, they were so called the “nothing to loose Canadiens” but now u look what they worked so hard for and played. Many is on the Line….I BELIEVE!!!
<f>TO YOU FROM FAILIN HANDS – WE THROW THE THORCH TO YOU TOO HOLD UP HIGH! <f>
Habs team back again
check em and wreck em baby lets begin
Party on Habs fans let me hear some noise
The Habs in the house jump jump rejoice
Cammy’s over here, Gio’s over there
Fleury’s in the net on his derrier
These three words will create a Frenzy
Go Habs Go!!!!
Goosebumps man, goosebumps. OK, NOW I’m ready!!
Baruch Ata Hashem Elokanu Melach haolam plz let the habs win…AMEN!!!!
Eliisa how BC after last night
Hey, any good omen is welcome to help us win tonight
3.5 hours left, all this waiting is killing me.
By the way, don’t forget to put on your lucky socks for the game or else you will be the one to blame … This is the time when it matters the most !!!
I mean logically we shouldn’t win, they should blow us out. But at this point I think I’ve giddily thrown logic out the window like most of the other certifiable Canadien’s fans out there………could the unthinkable happen…hey, it already did in Washington, could it happen again. Well, they are there for the game anyway, so why not?
Come on Jaroslav Halak aka Spring Celebration shut the winter cold Pens down
WINTER IS GONE IT IS TIME TO CELEBRATE SPRING
COME ON MONTREAL COME ON
These are the sports moments we live for! I can’t wait. I am just as stoked about this as I was CDN vs USA in the olympics.
Watching the last couple of weeks leading up to the playoffs who would have thought we would be where we are.
GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!
I just pray that the game goes down fair and the refs don’t get to decide this hockey game. That will be the only reason I will be upset after this game.
As long as we have a french canadian ref on the ice thinsg will be fine
HaBs 4 LIFE – Ryan.
I am in the exact same position as you. Nervous/shaky/butterflies, but again mostly excited. I am so proud of waht this team has accomplished, and another game 7 win would be key, and would punch my ticket to Montreal next weekend. Wont be able to afford a game, but partying in d/t montreal with Habs fans would be just as amazing……
GO HABS GO
Stanley, here it comes
Stanley, here it comes
Stanley, here it comes
Upside down and inside out
We’re gonna show those Pens
what it’s all about
Now it’s time to get on the ice
And end this Crosby hype
We’re taking Malkin through the Habs’ school
‘Cause we’re done with round two
If you wanna get shut down
Come Gill and Gorges’ way
Stanley, here it comes
Let me hear you say
Stanley, here it comes!

Well said j2w4habs25! i totally agree with you, they have fought soo hard to get to this level, they deserve to go further. i really truly believe that if they weren’t meant to go deep in the playoffs, they would have lost already against the caps! So habs Fans..say a little prayer for tonites game and we\ll be rewarded, I have faith , i believe GO HABS GO!
My wife won’t let me eat bacon anymore. She says the playoffs are putting enough strain on my heart as it is. I don’t want to be able eat bacon until June!

Gave me chills the whole way through!!!
GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HEy Dave,
Be honest with us….how did Markov look? was he noticeably slow and hobbling out there or did he look alright?
My oh My…that gave goosbumps! ok enough already..this is killing me!
Soooooooo…
The Impact are playing tonight.
……..Go Impact? lolololol yeaaaa right.
“These head movies make my eyes rain” -Simple Jack
cant it just be 7pm already…….
So Gill is in, Markov is out, and MAB moves up front while Darche draws out!
That’s the stage for our team tonight! I like it and can’t wait for it!
Shake and Bake, I’m gone!
Until now I thought Mell Gibson in Braveheart had the best speech – not anymore baby
))
Habs hockey = Smart hockey we work as a team, and we win as a team. we play 5 man defence – not just 2.
Here’s the deal with Markov – from RDS.
He is having a lot of difficulty pivoting – essential for defenceman.
If he was a forward – like Yzerman did – you slap on the brace, freeze the pain, and you go.
But defence is much more complicated.
Play him as a forward then!!!
He has great vision, a good shot, and was a forward as a teen growing up!
“These head movies make my eyes rain” -Simple Jack
Markov may end up dressing as the 7th man later in the playoffs I think, limited minutes, use him as a PP specialist and such in place of MAB and just the extra man. He obviously can’t play the Markovian minutes with a torn ACL but taking over MAB duties and handling 5-10 minutes a night? Sure. Provided we have victory tonight, Andrei could be a useful 7th defender and really, it just wouldn’t feel right having a Cup Final without our MVP since the lockout.

Wow, Canada loses 1-4 against Switzerland but Finland sends Team USA to the relegation round! I hope that´s a good omen for more important things to come tonight.
Do we like these two?
Czech loses to Norway, America to Denmark, Canada to Switzerland,
You see how all normally strong teams depend on NHL stars, just very few NHL players did come to this World Championship… but that is reality
So much hope. So much anticipation. I’ve waited 17 years for another game of this magnitude. Go Habs Go!
It’s like a dream: http://wingnight.wordpress.com/2010/05/12/when-dreams-come-true-les-canadiens/
Tim Peel not so much.
enough came for candada to beat switzerlad and martin gerber though
did they show up though??
I BELIEVE!! I don’t care what the line-up is, just play with heart and play to WIN!
GO HABS GO!
HAH! And don’t forget my love of bacon! Thanks!
I did not see the game but all normally strong team are loosing against paper outsiders, don’t know what is happening…
Only Russia with Ovechkin and Semin looks strong – Tretiak said: I have to thank Halak for stopping Washington…
I watched the Finland game, so I can´t really answer but I saw the goals. Tavares scored and Mason was terrible in goal. Canada had more shots but as usual also a lot of problems against Switzerland. Switzerland might make the semi final this year but Canada should also be fine. Only Russia has a more talented team…
Get Jordan Eberle over there already!
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Mason was not great but the Canadians were outworked by the Swiss. The defence was also poor. The Swiss had no trouble setting up a presence in front of the net. I actually think losing will be good for the Canadian team. They know they have work to do. Except they may have lost Steven Stamkos, who left in the first period with an injury (undisclosed), came back but I think left again.
He was originally drafted as a center
Hmm, who’s responsible for that, I wonder…
Sid the child will be over there to play for Canada in a couple of days.
So will Malkin and Gonchar for the Russians.

Jaro will be 25 and PK will be 21.
“Pusie possessed a wickedly wild shot, so inaccurate that he could not hit the province of Quebec if he was standing inside the Montreal Forum.” Dick Beddoes
It is tomorrow
I was corrected – it is in fact tomorrow – same prayer stands though.
Markov won’t be out tonight, too much of a gamble to place him out there as it is with only his first full equipment practice, Gill will go back into action tonight and shadow Crosby I believe.
Markov is preparing for future playoff series, Gill is preparing for tonight.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Do you mean “Markov will be out tonight”?
Tonight we skate with them, Tonight is our night!
Yeah, if we win this game, then start watching for ANOTHER miraculous Markov recovery. But you don’t risk the future long-term health of your biggest asset for a second-round match, even if it is game 7. You don’t mess around with knees. One of the most serious of hockey injuries.
I believe 99% of us here agree with you.
Agreed – we can use Marky in Round 3 – Fully fresh. We’ll have Gill tonight. He’ll be on the ice for the last minute to rub the loss in to his old team-mates … with a smile
Ditto!
we can win with or without Markov.
Let Markov rest for the next series.
Bring in Gill and move MAB to the 4th line or use him only on the PP

Halak is pure gold, man … Hey, any objections if Halak takes on Canadian citizenship and joins Team Canada for the next Olympics? Both Luongo and Fleury are useless and Brodeur is past his prime … In exchange, you can have Crosby, I don’t think anybody here wants this whiner to continue playing for Canada anyway.
On slovak TV – I just saw as some slovak reporter shortly asked Crosby about Halak…
Sid: “He played really great, he had some great saves, we have to put more pressure on him.” He seemed to me like a kid that does not want to give this straight credit to anyone from opponent team, I was little surprised he said this…
And as “Drive_For_25″ pointed out (I did not realize this before) in slovak language name Jaroslav means:
Jar = Spring
Oslav = Celebrate
Come on – signs on our way
)
SPRING CELEBRATE?? Are you kidding me dude? That is sooooo perfect. It must be karma because it is too perfect.

Habs have managed to win without Markov, why rush him back at this point only to have him be lost entirely.
As for Gill, tough call. He has been solid in the playoffs, much to my surprise. However, Subban has done a great job filling in for both Markov and Gill.
Tonight we skate with them, Tonight is our night!

I honestly believe Spacek and PK can take care of that.
With PK and Spacek working the points on the PP we don’t need MAB. He filled in GREAT when Markov missed the first 35 games and Thank you for that but he is a defensive liability, and his one redeeming skill can be replaced by Subban
MAB is still a PP specialist at the end of the day and the number of times I see a puck go right by him when he’s working the point is just unacceptable, his laziness on the point or lack of awareness, I don’t know which it is but it illustrates why he’s going to be searching for a new team next season. Subban can do everything MAB can and much better and a hundred things MAB can’t do.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

Worst plus-minua in the NHL right now…does that maybe explain anything?
Anyone suggesting MAB in the press box is crazy and obviously has a short memory. These games are won and lost on special teams and his shot on the powerplay is invaluable. Game 7 in Washington..one timer..1-0..ring a bell??? Play him on the 4th line and on the PP. Just my 2 cents.
I do agree but I also like a two headed monster..PK and Bergeron (one timers flying off each side) followed by Spacek and Hammer!!
One of the reasons our PP has been so effective this season has been our options and potential to score. MAB is a HUGE potential. They are watching for lasers from him, one timers from Cammalleri, wristers from AK, wrap arounds from Laps (ok maybe not so much), but we have alot of options. The key to success is the options. Being forced to focus on one aspect of the PP is the reason we were not so successful during our dry spells.
While we can do without, there is no reason to do it. We need to be dangerous to throw them off their game. It is a function of the entire game. They wont be as dirty and effective is they are worried about penalties. Do not under estimate the affect of those whose production is not so high. The main reason Laps scored in the last game is that the players made room for him, and the defence focused on a pass.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
I totally agree with you on the liability point, every time he and O’byrne are out there I can’t watch as we are instantly hemmed in our own zone for 30-45 seconds, which is a further arguement to play him forward on the 4th. You can manage his minutes much more effectively. You can spot shift him, he won’t hurt us as bad at forward, and even have Cammy take his spot on the 4th a few times, all the while having him for the boomer on the PP.
Not at the cost of a regular forward who allows us to roll 4 lines and be fresh in the third period when the Pens are lagging from over-use of Crosby and Malkin. Remember game 5? Perfect example of the use of 4 lines. It is ridiculous to me to keep MAB in the line-up for such little return versus so much liability.
I remember all too well the swelling excitement of GAME #7 in 1986, at home to the HARTFORD WHALERS. Minutes to go JOHN ANDERSON ties it up, of course that would be followed up by a dramatic LEMIEUX O/T winner. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE…no dramatics this time! Finish them off fast with three goals in the first period and choke them out for the remainder of the game. Can’t wait baby!!!
– I will not apologize for being a delirious HABS fan! –
When we knock the Pens out can Sid go rescue Team Canada?
i doubt he’d go
So… it’s 6:00 AM in Korea. I set my alarm for 7:30, but woke up after 3 hours of sleep at around 3:30 AM and couldn’t sleep anymore….. man I can’t wait. I almost lost it watching the last game, especially on Lapierre’s goal. I’m trying not to get my hopes up. The Penguins are a good team, we all know that. But Crosby looks stupid with his stash and he does whine a lot – annoying to watch, though I’m sure if he was a Hab, I’d be 100% on his side
GO HABS GO!
My Boone like (non-reverse jinx) “fearless prediction”: Habs win 4-0. Gio, Gomer, Cammy and … Benny (come on Benny, wake up!)
The main problem with Sid is that Mario tells him all the time that he is the best hockey player in the world. (Only thing Mario left out was,) except when you face the mighty Habs TEAM because they play as a team Sid.
Yeah, Crosby whines; so did Gretzky, … maybe there should be a ban on televising stuff like that from guys like that so we can simply overlook that. The great ones should be given a little leeway when it comes to that; it sort of balances out with their talent on the ice, and after-all, isn’t that the most important stuff.
I’ve not called him Benny before, but I am thinking about the guy that sat out most of last game because of a bone-head move? I had higher hopes for Benny too; the guy needs to gather himself in an stay on his feet, stop playing pond hockey, use his size and keep his head, stop thinking he’s (insert name here) and after all that, he can have some fun.
No predictions, just hoping for a good game!
If the Pens win tonight (I can’t bear to put it in reverse form), the habs, as a team could head off to the world championship. They already beat Alex once, why not make it two in a row. Imagine an all Canada vs Canadiens final.
I just want to be able to continue with the ride.
Well said Ian!!! You said at the beginning of the season that this team will be full of surprises. Boy you were right on!!! This team will have its ups and downs throughout the season. Man O Man, this team has played through adversity all season long and still is. I wonder what kind of season would the Habs have “IF” this team never had any injuries at all? I still believe they can win this game and be conference CHAMPIONS in the finals. Lord Stanley is only a few series away. Keep er goin boys!!! Go Habs Go!!! Keep up the good work Ian. Your a TRUE Habs Fan indeed.
Peel came streight out of the OHL and are we ever glad to get rid of him. He honestly believes that the paying customers come to watch him.
Okay, I’m showing my ignorance here; who is Peel?
ditto?
The picture taken above with Gill and the coach was snapped just as Jack was sayin “Say, how’d'you get so friggin tall anyway?”
Superfluously redundant, I remain

Nope. JM was saying to Gill:
“so you really walked in on Sergei sleeping with my wife?”
Interesting suggestion on the not showing the whining… to be honest, everyone hates Christiano Ronaldo (the Portuguese soccer player) because he whines so much. I for one still like the guy – I think he has loads of talent. However, especially in soccer, I do think should man up a little more at times. Any sport – it’s much more enjoyable to watch when the call is made, but the player who was infringed upon was trying to get up/continue playing, not looking at the ref making a sad face.
On another note, did anyone notice on the Versus TV feed last game (game 6) that they didn’t show replays of ANY of the penalties? WHY? Your suggestion reminded me of that.
Ronaldo is something completely different. He not only whines a lot but he dives all the time and is just a stupid arrogant p***k. Just look at him before he takes a free kick. Absolutely ridiculous and disgusting. How anyone would like him is completely beyond me.
Cammi talking about what it means to be a Montreal Canadien and how he feels sorry for any NHL player who has not worn the sweater.

one of the refs tonight.
sweet , thanks
I’m predicting that the half-hearted, slow skating, Andre Kostitsyn will score the winning goal tonight……….call me crazy. GO HABS GO!!!
MOST RECENT NEWS:
a man close to Pens coach reported that Bylsma suddenly got realistic in this series and when Crosby asked him what are their chances to beat Habs tonight, he used this as a motivation clip…

ENJOY THIS ONE BOYS AND GIRLS!!
I am off to postie jims to watch with Andree, going to be a noisy place tonight. Hang on to the ride!
Crosby yelled at MAF in the dressing room after game 6 saying he has to be better. Then he called the team out by saying we are losing to a AHL team with their only NHL player hurt. The super cry baby doesn’t like to lose come on boys shut this guy down and shut him up.
If we are missing our best defencemen with injuries, others will step up and do the job. If we are shorthanded due to unfair officiating, we’ll prevail with strong penalty killing. If they score one, we will score one more. Nothing can stop Team Destiny’s Drive for 25 Go HABS Go ! Canadiens will win Game 7

Thanks for gold Crosby, now pass the silver please.

HABS WILL WIN TONIGHT
HABS WILL WIN TONIGHT
HABS WILL WIN TONIGHT
HABS WILL WIN TONIGHT
HABS WILL WIN TONIGHT
HABS WILL WIN TONIGHT
HABS WILL WIN TONIGHT
That’s what I like to see
Habs hockey = Smart hockey we work as a team, and we win as a team. we play 5 man defence – not just 2. we play with energy, we play with Subban (Pk could have been with us since the Olympics, but nevermind that)
just found out I have to go to a parents meeting for my son’s hockey team.
there is no backing out – it is mandatory.
my son actually offered to go instead of me, but that would be inappropriate.
here’s why I’m in a win-win situation.
Habs win – I am still overjoyed and I get to watch the next series.
alternative to Habs win……….
THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE TO WINNING.
Why Habs can win?
Halak is better than Fleury
Cammy is hotter than everyone
PK is more dominant than people know – tonight he scores a huge goal with a laser shot on the PP.
New NHL history will be made commercial.
“what if MAB wasn’t signed”….2 power play goals from MAB tonight, you heard it here first…
5-0 habs
Cheers my friend, I’ve called for a MAB PP goal tonight! But I’ll take two like your saying as well! And that would be a truly great commerical. I mean they make a new one every night about everygame almost, so MAB would fit perfectly in their plan!

In the 2nd period of Game 6, something happened that changed the series, i like to think of it in comparison to the end scene of the Matrix. Neo could finally see the matrix for what it was, that he could simply dismiss the bullets rushing towards him, to say No more, to will something to happen.
At some point when the 3rd line had that great cycle going, forcing an icing, things changed, they started seeing things for what they were, that they ARE the better team, that they CAN beat these guys. It didn’t matter that they were down a goal and had lost in that situation before, they believed they could do it, that they could WILL it to happen.
And they did!

Wow – even the gold medal can;t help him.
Its probably certain that Markov skating is just to screw with Pitt, but it’s driving me crazy. Wondering if he’ll play is making me feel like I wanna puke . Im messed up enough and can barely eat as it is. STOP MESSING WITH ME DAMN IT
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Highly doubt that he is ready or they would put him in for a seventh game.
I would bet Gill is playing with seven D and that Darche will sit.

lol torn acls do that
According to TSN ice chips “Markov appears not ready to go”
Your probably right about the line up but the Markov suspense is killing me. If he cant play, just say so.

Watch for Crosby’s listing tomorrow.
