The Canadiens practised officially for about 25 minutes today, though there was some extra defence work before the 11:30 am session and a little additional work afterward, before they chartered out for Washington and tomorrow’s start of the playoffs.
Plenty of audio linked above, including a 14-minute chat with Scott Gomez, Jacques Martin’s coach’s briefing and other clips with various members of the team. Including Tomas Plekanec, who quite rightly still can’t figure what all the fuss was about from yesterday when he matter-of-factly said that the Capitals don’t have Martin Brodeur or Ryan Miller in goal. (This one truly was an issue stirred up by the media, bought into by the Capitals.)
Glen Metropolit travelled with the club to Washington but isn’t ready for an imminent return to action. He’ll be evaluated day to day, Martin said. Metro has been out of action since March 27 with a separated left shoulder, then given a six- to eight-week rehab period before a return. He seems to be well ahead of that, but today he wore a no-contact jersey. Big difference between skating with the team and getting physical.
