Audio: Auld vs. Koskinen tonight

AUDIO: Jacques Martin English and French | Roman Hamrlik | Tom Pyatt

The Canadiens will start goaltender Alex Auld vs. the New York Islanders’ Mikko Koskinen tonight at the Bell Centre, 24 hours after the Habs’ rumble in Boston vs. the Bruins.

It was the Bruins game that dominated pregame conversation following the Habs’ optional morning skate today. Auld, Scott Gomez, David Desharnais, Lars Eller and Alexandre Picard skated briefly.

Tom Pyatt was sporting a decent shiner below his right eye and seven stitches high on his right cheek, having been struck repeatedly by the elbow pad of Bruins’ Gregory Campbell in the final minute of the game. “Pretty much old-time hockey,” Pyatt said of the battles.

Ryan White was called up this morning and is available for tonight’s game. Head coach Jacques Martin said that only the pregame warmup will determine his lineup, several players he wouldn’t identify nursing injuries.

Martin said last night’s slugfest was an extension of the rivalry between the two clubs. Lots of comment from Martin in English and French in the audio clips linked above.
