His name is ‘Trunk’ which is short for Trunkulence
What halak problem? Saying stupid nonsense like “theres no money”. Funny because who gave Spacek that contract length? Moen? Etc? Signing UFA players longer and for more money than they are worth means you might lose players when it comes time to re-sign. One could argue an extra 2-3 mil would have given the team TWO good goalies. But whatever, it’s no longer an issue with Carey’s play.
The point of the matter is – giving players and coaches longterm deals without thinking about the consequences IS a management problem. They knew Boucher and Muller would be due. So what’s the excuse? Martin wouldn’t sign a deal for less? OH NO THE HORROR! Martin wouldn’t sign! Quick get me a kleenex!
I don’t think that should happen. Was just pointing out to the poster that JM’s contract does not preclude the team from firing him and replacing him with Muller, if that’s what they wanted to do it would only cost some extra money.
The Maple Leaf is made entirely of deadwood.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
With that in mind I think we should start hating on management right now and blaming them for this. Sure it hasn’t happened yet but that shouldn’t stop us.
Damn it PG…why are you going to let Muller walk?
Well said G. One game doesnt change a team but it seems everytime we lose a game, that is the mantra here. Funny thing is when we win, the same people don’t post…..only after the loses. Go figure! Sucks to be them, I guess.
Yea i came to that conclusion after posting.
I vote we re-open the “real fan” discussion. Those are always fun
Meet the Maple Leafs’ ridiculous new superhero in the NHL Guardian Project.
“The Maple Leaf, or “Trunk” as the rest of the Guardians know him, is one of the funniest of the Guardians. Always quick with a joke or a sarcastic barb, the Maple Leaf often disarms his opponents by bringing levity to tense situations.”
One can only assume this “levity” is the result of an embarrassing loss. Or a five-year playoff drought. Or 43 years without a Stanley Cup. Whatever the cause, it’s a relief they say laughter is the best medicine.
“It’s too much for one guy to shoulder. For us, we’re going to do it as a group. It’s about sharing that responsibility win or lose.” – Mike Cammalleri
YES! I was just here to post this.
Very happy for PK.
Great for him, and I’m sure he will love it! Hopefully he won’t be picked last!
He should be fun to watch in the skills competition too.
Montreal was playing with 3 lines, lost in OT and was dominated? The Wiz is taking O’Byrne’s roster spot?
Do you have any observations about stocks, because you are dead on with this stuff?
they had him once. 15 years ago?
I am truly amazed why all you doom and gloomers dont have NHL jobs. It’s bewildering how an iconic team like our Habs can employ such lessor minds running the club. Anyway, have your fun but please don’t take yourself so seriously….no one else does.
I liked Arpons take on Muller leaving. Every team has organizational changes of some degree every year. A measure of a strong organization is to replace their good parts when necessary with something that brings better value. We’ll see what PG and JM decide. I hope Muller does get a chance at a head coaching job with another team and I will wish him well….but not too well. I wish he would remain with us….probably turned down the head coach job replacing Boucher in Hamilton….but he should not be stopped to seek other opportunities in the NHL.
Buffalo now making a run a week and a half ago dominated the Habs the same way the Flyers did last night.
Gauthier had better do something about it or forget about last year’s miracle happening this year. There is no Markov or Gorges and NEITHER has been replaced. Wiz is taking O’Byrnne’s spot on the roster.
Everyone needs to relax… The Flyers are the best team in the NHL right now!
They make big teams look slow whith their highly skilled forwards.
They make skilled teams look dominated by their physical play.
They have been doing this to pretty much everyone in the NHL for the past month or so… Road or at home.
The fact is, aside from the Flyers, who are the class of the east, the Habs could win a 7 game series against anyone else in our conference. Hell, we saw it last year.
And now people are talking about morgaging picks and prospects and our future for… No talent Chris Neil?!? No heart Penner?!? You guys are nuts!
There is only one team that is the best in the East. And we already knew that it wasn’t us. This is what the NHL is, parity, and the Habs have been in the top half of that every year but one since the lockout.
You would think the Habs are the Leafs or the Sens the way some fans talk about this team…
I’m dissapointed the haters got to live through that amazing playoff run last year. Negativity, doom and gloom, no respect for the team… And get rewarded with the best run since 93.
Playoffs my friend, playoffs, check the record there…
I keep hearing about how the Bruins ‘dominate us physically’… Yes they are bigger team than us with a few large frames but… Take a look at their record V the Habs over the past few seasons, and then ask yourself:
“How stupid does my argument sound when i cite a team Montreal absolutely DOMINATES, record wise, as a team that, in fact, supposedly, dominates Montreal at will with their size”
Flyers, yes. Bruins, no. I’m all for doom and gloom kids but try and make a little sense!
So when is cammy coming back? would he be back by feb 20?
The players i think PG should go for are
I think that would make our team a harder team to play agianst. after watching that gong show, we got no shots on net always getting blocked and with these players it will be hard to knock them.
Lines would be
Cammy Pleks Penner
Pacs Gomez Gionta
Moulson Halpren Eller
Darche DD Clarkson
so ak will be gone pouliot
So I’m not a real fan? And my opinion is BS?
That’s the biggest crock of BS commentary I have ever read on this site, James. Many here may disagree with your opinion. Some may actually agree with you. But how does any of that make you a real fan or more of a real fan than any of the rest of us.
The way I see it, you and I have differing opinions but we’re both fans. We’d probably even get along over a brew. Maybe not see eye to eye but we’d still be real fans.
if you wanna play for the Habs you have to wear the CH with pride..and that only comes by winning.
That may be funny…but it’s not true. We have 5 and a couple of wannabes who if they played to their “potential” would be fine. Plus one of the 5 who you don’t like.
And this would stop players from hitting our players? Please Mike, that’s not how it works in the NHL these days. Neil, if hired, would not be here to knock out teeth, defend players and sit in the box while we try to kill yet more penalties. Just what we need. If hired he’d be here to…what? Score. That’s a laugh.
I look at it this way..if you’re a real fan instead of BS-ing..you’ll tell it the way you see it..after waiting 17years..I think we the fans has had enough..let it go and we’ll become another Laff-Land..and you’re right I may not be loved..but I’ll never be a BS-er
Yea I guess that makes sense.Still you have to hope Cammy is back after the ASG, and then you have to red0 the lines, and Cammy will be back next to Plekanec, meaning Eller moves down. White being a center, you have to do some shuffling… does Eller go to the A after being on the first line?? I guess we just have to wait for JM to surprise us.
Well i can understand disatisfaction with the group of forwards, Plekanec plays consistently, and rarely has a bad game. I do also like what i see from MaxPac, he is bringing some of that wanted physicallity and grit, even with supposed bruised ribs, and he scores too.
Are you suggesting I won’t want a reminder of a 10-0 shellacking?
Hold on a second. Mismanagement? But further down someone made a case for it being JMs fault. And over there someone said with certainty it was Gomez’s fault. And just a few minutes ago someone else stated a proven fact that it was penalties. Then there’s the crew that insists the data shows it’s lack of scoring. Then a few have claimed with irrefutable proof it’s the lack of an enforcer (or is it just size…oh dear). But then the other dude says it’s poor defence and he has supporting documentation to prove it.
I’m so confused. I don’t know who to believe anymore. Everybody claims to the right answer. Who to believe? Who to believe?
Wait and see the outcome of the game… then you’ll have a better idea how badly you want it.
same old ..same old …
Kinda backfired on you there…
It shall receive the scorn of a troubled Habs nation out here 😉
Oh dude, that reference to Timo’s comment will not make you loved
Not necessarily, the move saves cap and allows White to play in a few AHL games. He or another player could be called up after the All-Star Break.
how would craig conroy sound on the habs. he has the leadership and great for the bottom lines. hes on waivers.
if you don’t have the money for a good new vehicle..than you have to stick with the one you have..or go and get another used one..that’s the way it is when bringing in players for the Habs..I said it before and I’ll say it again..a good GM don’t trade good players..they trade so,so, players and get something better in return..bottom line..mismanagement is why the Habs are what they are..and if you read Timo’s comment from earlier..he hit the nail on the head..Habs have mostly overpaid wanna be’s or just bums…..
He might be at the twilight, he’s missed 50 games in the three years prior to this one, he doesn’t score much anymore, he’s overpaid ($2M AAV for two more seasons), he’s 10th in minors, 2nd in misconducts. Montreal sure doesn’t need to be short handed more often.
Yes we need a big D-man and a big top 6 forward……but since those type of players are really, really, really hard to find especially with during the season and in the cap era, let’s address what we CAN fix right now, which is a tough enforcer, who can skate, take the body, chip in with the occasional goal and is a pest to play against. Now since Ottawa isn’t going anywhere this year, and are looking to offload players, Neil is a player who we can get now and help out another area where we are hurting. The big moves like you mentioned in which I agree we need, will unfortunately not get done unti the summer if PG can swing them at all that is.

Do you agree with the Canadiens' decision to sign Brian Flynn to a two-year, $1.9-million contract?
