  1. HabFanSince72 says:

Arpon Basu is right  on the money again.

Put Gionta on with Pleks, and presto the slump is gone.

He fails to mention the inevitable corollary of that theorem.

  2. _Habsoloutly_ says:

PK did a great job getting that douche Ovie off his game.  TSN showed how Ovie skates to his bench with his arms in the air pouting and calling out his teamates for not “passing the puck to him enough”.  What a classless piece of work he is.  Anytime PK wants to draw blood on that weasel I’m ok with the penalty.

  3. PrimeTime says:

Everyone must be pretty satisfied with the game, players, JM, PG. Pretty quiet here today! Can’t wait until the next loss!! Lol

  4. The Cat says:

Yes the motto of the site should be: winning -its bad for business lol

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  5. punkster says:

Hey PT, maybe we should start an argument? Just to spice up the day, ya know?

I’ll go first. HH is a tool!

  6. Bugs says:

When I saw the Gomie-K Senior-Eller line hit the ice, one word flashed through my mind: Disaster. What kinda jerk-water experiment was THIS? And sure enough, after being manhandled in their zone for half their shift, they manage to break out on a possible 2 on 1, but instead of grabbin the dang thing, K Senior TAPS IT BACK to Perreault for the…ahem…questionable goal on the Priceberg.

You can imagine my surprise when I saw later that the line had remained intact! Couldn’t believe it. But hot dog, Gomie actually made somethin out of it. Worked well with AK as the game went on. Quicky came to realize as a lot of us have over the course of the past weeks that Eller is absolutely useless and stopped passin the puck to’m (if you noticed).

My boy was particularly dangerous as well. Coulda easily finished with 2g – 2a. Coulda…but didn’t. Also, none of my tele-hypnotism seems to be working on the fellow; he INSISTS on makin the final ”nice pass” instead of frickin SHOOTIN. That 2 on 1 with Dezzy on which he feathered it back to 58, I was like “What the funk, man?! You’re KILLIN me over here! SHOOT, ya sunavabastich! Nevermind your stupid passes; SHOOOOOT!!!”

Still though, good game, lotsa character, taking advantage of Capital psychological fragility towards us, very nice.

  7. J_P says:

Unlike Crosby and Stamkos who, no matter how much success they have, continue to work tirelessly on improving their game, Ovie decided that he doesnt have to work on it anymore.

  8. The Cat says:

A win is a win but I dont see how they should be so satisfied or that its much of a character builder. It went to a shootout where you basically flip a coin, next shootout, it may go the other way. Tampa Bay however should be pretty satisfied with themselves after last night.

  10. Rudy says:

Was such a fun game to be at, but my fellow seat mates told me to not come back (I have season tickets and they HATED me in the playoffs last year :)

  11. TomNickle says:

The first period was one of the worst on the season.  Hamrlik, Gill, PK and Wiz had a terrible period.  Terrible decisions, not complimenting each other, it was just ugly.

    The forwards weren’t much better.

  12. Mattyleg says:

It freakin’ KILLED me when Gomez brought the puck into the Caps’ zone, then TURNED AROUND, looking for someone to pass off to. Althgough that’s a step up from his blind back-passes, it still confuses me. GO TO THE NET!! Fire the puck in, force them to trip or hold you!!

And I was crucified last week for suggesting that Eller is as useful as tits on a bull, so get ready for the onslaught.

    Great win, happy times!!

And FANTASTIC to see PK all over Ovie like a cheap All-Star suit! #8 was getting pretty peeved with our man’s hustle.

    Vonderful.

Good work! Keep La Flannelle flyin’!

  14. homerbowen says:

DO NOT TRADE WITH THE LAFFS. There is a good “media” push here (Toronto) for Kaberle to the Habs for picks because we need him!!! (a defenceman). No, no, no, do not trade with the Laffs. Let Kaberle play out the year and go somewhere (not habs) for nothing. We are not a serious contender this year and we need our own picks. Wait, I’ve changed my mind I would support a trade Kaberle for Gomez straight up.

  15. mrhabby says:

    PK’s improvement.

Seems to me that stint PK had in the presser has helped him alot. He plays so much better now, in control, useing his instincts and less risk…kudos’to the coaching staff for this change and also PK for making some adjustments to his game.

  16. mrhabby says:

something tells me a kaberle for gomer trade would not happen…nice try.lol.

  17. jrshabs1 says:

I’m offically back on the Carey Price bandwagon. Price has re-earned my kudo’s and unless he has a complete mental breakdown between the pipe’s it will stay that way. Gomer played like a star lastnight, didn’t score but in my opinion played his best game as a Hab.

    Go Habs Go!!

  18. shiram says:

Hal Gill probably has an hand in it as well.

  19. Storm Man says:

For all the people on here that are in the ESPN fantasy hockey leagues HIO 2010 Habs fans only and HIO Unlimited the trade deadline is February 9,2011 all trades proposed and accepted by 12pm EST. Good luck the rest of the season.

  20. kempie says:

Ovie skates to his bench with his arms in the air pouting and calling out his teamates for not “passing the puck to him enough”

TSN showed this quite a bit last night. Wouldn’t this just drive ya nuts as a teammate? What a world-class dbag fsure.

  21. WindsorHab-10 says:

Didn’t even realize he was on the ice. I thought he was a healthy scratch.

  22. DarthWade says:

I think they can take this as a character builder because they did come back from being down 2 goals. Yeah in the shoot-out it could have gone either way but still…pretty impressive. If it had been against the Flyers I’d have been even happier but hopefully this can sink in. If they’re down a goal or two they don’t have to give up and hard work can pay off.

What got me was how fast Washington deflated after the first period.

  23. bozzo says:

Can’t do that! Best buddies of our captain to the Leafs = lack of respect!

  24. TomNickle says:

You didn’t want to discuss your boy poo-poo going back to the well when he got in alone?  Somebody needs to tell that boy that goalies look at film review and he’ll need to start shooting somewhere other than high short side if he wants to keep scoring.

  25. homerbowen says:

Hey PK, why give fodder to that idiot Cherry. It was a clean hit, you had your head down, what do you expect?  Take it like a man and give out the same next time around. It’s stupid penalties that haunt teams and something a rookie would do, oh ya you are a rookie. Smarten up and think of the team first.

  26. arcosenate says:

Watch his comments on TSN, it’s quite funny, he calls it the hit of the year and says he wondered when he would come down.

What he did afterwards wasn’t bright but it wasn’t a penalty either.

Take it easy on the kid, he’s alright.

  27. terrygain says:

I love it when the Habs skate like they did last night.

  28. volcano62 says:

It’s games like this that makes me proud to be a Habs fan! Tonight Panthers are going down!

  29. Habs Proud says:

Huge shoot out win, picked up 2 points each on the 2 teams below us in the standings and one point on both teams directly above us.

  30. secretdragonfly says:

“In the shootout we had three great looks,” Washington coach Bruce Boudreau said. “But we didn’t get the puck in the spots where we wanted it to get. I don’t know if it’s confidence or Carey Price being that good.”

    How about both, Bruce?

  31. TheDagger says:

AKA Carey Price is that good that it effs with shooters’ confidence!

  32. The Cat says:

Not to take anything away from Price but man players just cant get the puck up. When you do, you score just like Gionta.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  33. G-Man says:

The Habs after any sort of layoff usually stink the joint out. In the 1st period, they did. Kudos to them for being rock solid on the road after that crappy 1st and coming back. I still hate the shootout and always will, but if the NHL gives 2 points for it, wtf.

  34. Top Corner says:

    Huge comeback…what a game !!  The 1st was a stinker…but they woke up , and took 2 HUGE POINTS !!!!

Very happy today , as we brace for another storm on the east coast.  Time to watch highlights…all day!

  35. Julie H says:

Great win, good for Gio. Not to take anything away from our guys, but aren’t they tired of pulling off these trail-for-two-periods-and-then-claw-back-to-win wins?

  36. J_P says:

As opposed to the give-up-the-first-goal-and-they-are-guaranteed-to-lose losses? The whole first half of the season, they pretty much never came back to win after spotting the other team the lead.

That’s why the game is 60 minutes.  They didn’t skate in the first, but they came out hard in the 2nd, tied the game up, and got the 2 points.  That’s what counts.

  37. Oddball says:

In my opinion, they both should have went to the box. Did you notice how Ovie waited until Subban’s back was turned before he went after him? Ovechkin gets away with blue murder. I actually like the way the kid sticks up for himself. He has to be doing something right, if players like Richards, Crosby and Ovechkin complain about his moxie.

..always with the negative waves, Moriarty, always with the negative waves..

  38. olematelot says:

When did Crosby ever openly complain about PKs moxie?

  39. arcosenate says:

Yeah, Ovie face washed Subban and jumped on his back riding him into the ice but that’s a superstar doing it so no call.  Hopefully Subban will level him in the rematch.

  41. HabFanSince72 says:

Coulda been worse. He coulda had frostbite on anther distal part of his anatomy.

Although I guess that wouldn’t have stopped him from playing.

  42. kempie says:

So, it hasn’t really been discussed at length just yet, but… what’s the deal with Kristo’s feet? How hammered does a kid have to be to sustain this kind of frostbite walking around on campus? I mean, I know this is serious stuff and I wish him a speedy recovery but WTF? I’m really tempted to call shenanigans.
