So here is actor and Lord of the Rink Viggo Mortensen, second from right, at a press conference at the Toronto International Film Festival, with director David Cronenberg on the far right and actors Vincent Cassel and Oscar-nominee Naomi Watts to the left, promoting their new London-based thriller Eastern Promises.

And what is Mortensen wearing? Hmm. Looks strangely to us to be a Montreal Canadiens T-shirt beneath his suit jacket. Which either demonstrates the fine fashion sense of Mortensen, or, in Toronto, is sweet revenge for the Maple Leafs having knocked the Canadiens out of the NHL playoffs on the final game of the 2006-07 regular season (one day before they themselves were eliminated from the post-season.)

Baseball Hall of Famer Tommy Lasorda was exposed to some great hockey while pitching for the International League’s Montreal Royals in the 1950s, the farm club of the Brooklyn Dodgers and springboard to the major leagues of pioneer Jackie Robinson.
