No, this is not a gay Belarusian wedding.

RetroMikey, who reads 86 languages, found this account of Sergei Kostitsyn and sworn enemy Mikhail Grabovski kissing and making up.

OK, maybe they didn’t kiss.

But they didn’t fight, either. And they’re totally cool now.

Which means when the Canadiens play the Leafs, they can focus on hammering Mike Komisarek without the distraction of a lightweight undercard.

Just as an aside: Don’t they have hair stylists in that country?

Remember Mikhail Grabovski? Traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in a deal that ultimately yielded new Habs forward Robert Lang?

(The Canadiens sent a second-round, 2010 draft pick to Chicago nine days ago in exchange
for Lang, that selection acquired in July from Toronto with defence prospect Greg Pateryn for Grabovski.)

Well, Paul Hunter, a friend at the Toronto Star, reports that Grabovski seems to be very happy in Toronto, where for now he’s the Leafs’ No. 1 centre on an all-Russian line. We’ll see Grabovski against the Canadiens when Montreal pays a visit to the Air Canada Centre on Oct. 11.

Canadiens have traded Mikhail Grabovski – frequently rumoured to be on the way out, most recently as part of a possible Mats Sundin rights compensation package – to the Leafs for defenceman Greg Pateryn and Toronto’s second-round draft choice in 2010.

The team has also signed free agent defenceman Alex Henry and goaltender Cedric Desjardins.

The club’s press releases:

MONTREAL (July 3, 2008) – Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey today announced the
acquisition of defenceman Greg Pateryn along with the Toronto Maple Leafs’ second round pick in 2010, in
return for forward Mikhaïl Grabovski.
Greg Pateryn, 18, was selected in the fifth round by the Maple Leafs, 128th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry
Draft in Ottawa. Last season, in his first campaign in the United States Hockey League, Pateryn led the Ohio
Jr. Blue Jackets defencemen with 27 points (3 goals, 24 assists) in 60 games. He also led his team with 145
penalty minutes. The Royal Oak, Michigan native was also named to the Eastern Division Team in the USHL
Prospects/All-Star Game and received USHL Defensive Player of The Week honors in March.
Pateryn, 6-2, 212 pounds, will join the University of Michigan for the 2008-09 season.
Mikhaïl Grabovski was selected by the Canadiens in the fifth round, 150th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry
Draft. He played 27 career regular-season games over the past two seasons with the Canadiens, recording nine
points (3 goals, 6 assists).

And …

Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today the signingof free agent defenceman Alex Henry to a one-year contract (2008-09). The Club also announced that
goaltender Cédrick Desjardins has agreed to a two-year contract (2008-09 and 2009-2010). As per club
policy, financial terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
Henry, 28, suited up for the Milwaukee Admirals in the American Hockey League last season. He recorded
16 points (3 goals, 13 assists) and was second on the team with 142 penalty minutes. He was one of only two
defencemen to play in all 80 regular-season games.
A native of Elliot Lake, Ontario, Henry spent the past two seasons in the Nashville Predators’ organization
after signing as a free agent on August 21, 2006. The 6’5” and 220 lbs defenceman played 175 NHL games with
Edmonton (3), Washington (38) and Minnesota (134).
A third round selection, 67th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 1998, Henry was claimed twice on waivers
during his NHL career, in October 2002 by the Washington Capitals and in October 2003 by the Minnesota Wild.
Henry also played in 332 AHL games, including three seasons with the Hamilton Bulldogs from 1999 to 2002.
Cédrick Desjardins, 22, had a tremendous season in 2007-08, leading the ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones to
the Kelly Cup Championship in just his second professional season. The Cyclones also won the league’s regularseason
title with 115 points. Desjardins posted a 16-4-2 record, had five shutouts, maintained a 1.92 goalsagainst
average and a .934 save percentage in 22 games. He led all ECHL goaltenders during the playoffs with
a 1.84 goals-against average, posting a 11-4 record and a .939 save percentage in 16 games. Desjardins also
played 12 games with the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs last season (4-4-1, 3.04 GAA and .909 save %).
A native of Edmundston, New Brunswick, Desjardins spent four seasons in the QMJHL (2002 to 2006)
with Rimouski and Québec, posting 67 wins in 128 regular-season games. In his second consecutive
participation to the Memorial Cup in 2006, he led the Remparts to the tournament championship. He was
named the Memorial Cup Top Goaltender and was named to the tournament’s All-Star Team.
This fall, Desjardins will take part in his second training camp with the Canadiens.
