The former category includes Bob Gainey’s free-agent signings – Roman Hamrlik, Bryan Smolinski and Patrice Brisebois (I’d have included Tom Kostopoulos) – the play of the defence corps, Mathieu Dandenault and Kyle Chipchura.
Gagnon’s disappointments to date are Michael Ryder, Guillaume Latendresse, Andrei Kostitsyn and Mikhail Grabovski.
Gagnon thinks Grabovski should be playing on the wing, as he has been lately, and Kostitsyn should be in Hamilton.
Other than the chance to play with his brother, I don’t see how more time in the AHL would benefit Kostitsyn. The kid has talent. I think a goal or two will get him untracked.
