I have a hunch that this one isn’t going to be over until something breaks. Then again maybe they’ll just all goof around and see if they can lose their way into the playoffs again.
Legacy of the 2003 Entry Draft now stands at AHL pugilist they resacquired Jimmy Bonneau and Andrei Kostitsyn, while I hae to gripe about draft years usually, today this particularly stings.
Drafting legacy from first half of the decade has the Habs where they are.
Slump, losing streak, whatever. None of them are performing up to potential and the team concept just isn’t there right now. They have to work this out themselves.
The ducks only dressed him for 1 game this season. Looks like an AHLer to me. Number 9 on the depth chart behind picard/webber. But with JM, who knows. He may love that he’s a stay at home D man and pull PK.
Renaud Lavoie (of RDS) saying that Lappy asked for a trade at the beginning of the week. I think it’s a good thing he did because Habs can move on, it’s not like he was a scoring machine, no pk time. JM was using Cammi to kill penalties.
It only works out that way if the team offers the player a contract, and that player refuses. If they never offer him a contract, and he doesn’t pan out, no pick is awarded.
I’ll be honest, I feel hurt over the Lapierre situation.
There wasn’t much to cheer for during a lot of 08-09, Lang going down with the achilles tendon injury I pretty much knew the season was gone but there was Lappy, hitting, scoring and making a nuisance of himself each game, throwing himself into it all. I thought the Habs had a real Francophone hero, not in scoring but just in heart and effort. Than he had that nagging ankle injury that hampered him for most of 09-10, he revived in the playoffs and did admirably, but now he’s spent the season tossing it all away again.
Energy players must play with everything they have each night, Lapierre has not and he’s going. Sad, I thought he had potential to stick around as a fan favourite like Max Talbot in PIT.
With all this negativity, talk of lack of leadership, and talk of poor coaching, how come Gionta never seems to get called to the blogosphere? He has been the most invisibly player during this road trip. No? It is times like these when the captain should be leading by example on the ice.
This is the other shoe dropping after Desharnais getting called up. The French media will lose their *$&! over Laps being traded, at least Desharnais replaces him as a Quebecer on the roster.
Don’t get excited about a roster player maybe coming back: ask yourself whom you would trade to acquire Max. Unless they are salary dumping?
Actually, when the Habs traded Craig Rivet for Josh Gorges (who was also an undrafted defenseman), we didn’t think much of it. Now, Gorges has become a huge part of our team. Similarly, who’s to say that doesn’t happen with Festerling.
Am I being overly optimsitic? Then again, it’s New Year’s Eve.
Francois Gagnon tweets that Lapierre may have been traded by the Habs. He stayed back at the hotel when the team made its way over to the rink in Florida. I’m kinda happy that PG is moving and not sitting on his derriere. But we still have to see what’s coming back. And hopefully, it’s with a team in the West for a roster player. New Year’s present?
Update: Brian Wilde (@BrianWilde) tweets that RDS and Gagnon saying it’s possibly to Anaheim, nothing confirmed. It’s up on rds.ca now.
I was at last nights debacle and I wrote a huge rant only to have my phone die before I could post.

I already asked, but figured I’d asked again: will the half-track be coming out soon HH? Maybe turn the key and start warming it up, we may need it in a month.
Personally I’m pretty ready to throw the “captain” under a bus. Haven’t heard a peep from him and the silence is deafening.
Auld should have played more games. He’s played 3 so far. That’s minimum 7 too few in my opinion. Now the team has to play him more and if they start winning with him what does that do for Price’s development?
It’s obvious that Price played great for a stretch but he has been less sharp and less lucky as of late, and yes it’s less his fault as the team is unable to score. They can’t win when coming from behind and now can’t win when they pop the 1st goal. And those goals are turning out to be garbage goals at that.
Something is wrong with the team’s psyche. Sadly I think PK has disrupted it. Not intentionally. Just his beaming enthusiasm has rustled feathers. Feathers in my opinion that need some shaking up. Nevertheless, the old boys club will lay down the rules, because it’s better to lose and preserve order than win and let enthusiasm, creativity and all those things that march to the beat of their own drummer win or shine. Can’t have that. Must defer.
Last night was a schooling. The new school trounced the old school. Habs coaching prospect brings our ex-AHL goalie for 1st NHL game and kicks ass.

Rumours on twitter that it’s Lapierre for Nicolas Deschamps (Moncton Wildcard, 35th overall pick by the Ducks in 2008, Left Wing, 6’2, 186lbs) Once again, it’s a rumour.
Hey guys haven’t posted here in a bit. Relocation/new job and holidays have kept me busy.
Curious to know if anyone has matched the Habs record to HIO’s server crashes. Also, is there a pool on what time the server crashes tonight, if so put me down for a loonie around the same time the first “pussy-ass” penalty is called.
Who gets fired first, Martin or HIO’s tech wizards?
I’m not sure how much more of this losing I can take. On the bright side, at least there’s a new year about to start and it’s a chance for me to stop being an idiot and make some solid life choices. Of course, my New Year’s resolutions will last all of one day, maybe two if I feel really dedicated. But hey, there’s always 2012…
Once used to be my favourite player. But his lack of involvement has really hurt his career. Let’s say the Cammalleri-Plex line had someone else, not even a star player, maybe someone like Backes, that line would be all of a sudden, a lot more effective than the current one.
Great effort from the 2nd game in less than 24 hours against a rested opponent.
Martin benched AK46 for Pyatt at the end. I didn’t think AK’s penalty was his fault. He was battling for the puck but got a bit unlucky that he broke the other guy’s stick. Pyatt is trying hard.
For those of you watching the World Juniors, is it me and my bias towards the Habs or is Leblanc’s line the best team Canada has, they’re doing some great forechecking, and I find Leblanc’s positioning has been great.
Just got in and read the good news!!! I’m shocked we got that much for Yapierre. Problem now is when the Ducks come to Montreal, who’s going to get more attention, Saku or Yaps? I know who RDS will be focusing on…
Hilariously the two goalies they didn’t rush – Halak and Desjardins – they threw away for nothing. I love Price and he’s our future, but good lord. I’m tired of seeing other teams and hearing “ex-hab goalie stones the montreal canadiens”. Enough already.
Forgive me but even with his massive rebound issues Desjardins is faster and more agile than Auld. He would have taken the backup role, as that’s what he is in Tampa anyway.
Well the road trip from hell ends on a good note. The Wiz acquisition looks great. The team comes back from behind and wins for probably the 1st time this season. Turning point time for the Habs. Hopefully all it was a slump. Looking forward to what the new year brings.
Last nights loss was the
one that broke the camels back. Hang onto your hats, it is going to get
real breezy around the Bell Center now.
The wheels are turning
big time at the management level, even though they are not turning very
well on the ice. Big moves are coming!
You
can be sure, that the phone lines between our club and others are
humming hot and heavy now. Even though it takes a little longer these days for the
Bell Center to connect, having to go through India and all.!!
Rest
assured that the right connection and deal is in the works, and will
take place, within a short time. Call ups and sit downs and trades are
the near future of this franchise, maybe today.!
I am sure things will be addressed very quickly once the boys get home and find
out who will be receiving their pink slips in a week or so. A blockbuster deal is just around the corner boys and girls.
To all of my HIO friends, I wish you the very best and happier viewing in the New Year!!
Drive Carefully.!! Especially going by the Bell Center, there are people walking in a fog.!!
Desjardins was yanked in the 2nd round of the series when they were tied 2-2 and Sanford recorded consecutive wins to get HAM to the 3rd Round and at no point did Boucher go back to Desjardins even after Sanford lost 3 out of 4 starts against Texas.
I didn’t really see round 2 but Desjardins inability to hold his job in the AHL playoffs says something.
I loved him in the playoffs last year. Sadly his time here has come to a close, a solid depth player with a scoring touch despite a lack of discipline. I wonder who’ll take up his spots and actually provide us with some hits?
Here in Ireland watching the local feed from Florida. Commercial: tickets for Panthers games in January are $9, including parking, and your money back “if you don’t have a good time”.
They’re probably asking the question in Anaheim: “Who is Maxim Lapierre?” Let’s not pretend that we just traded away Gretzky for Patrice Tardif, Roman Vopat, Craig Johnson, and two draft picks.
Here we go again 3 pp for the cats and one for us. JM just stands there like a idoit and why should the players care ,ownership doesn’t and the coach and GM dosn’t. I guess so long as the good folks in Montreal keeps paying those ticket prices who care if this team loses . Well can all be proud of the classiest team in the league that never complains when the refs screws them over game after game. Hey management take a look at the Team Canadian Junior coach when the ref came over to warn him about rough play. He looked him right in the eyes and told that ref don’t going screwing us and stood his ground. The refs in this league has no respect for the Habs or the coach and especial management they treat this team as joke.
They were brought into the league by Bruce McNall and Bettman because at the time Wayne Heizinga (spelling) owned Blockbuster video plus the Marlins and the Dolphins. The league thought they would take advantage of marketing opportunities etc. We all know what happened though. McNall went to prison.
Pleks gets slashed on the shot and Leggo can’t call a penalty. What a joke. Why does Montreal continually get the same officials two games in a row? Shoot the puck at his god damned head.
That is the organizational dilemma the Habs face right now. Let’s assume the worst and say that Martin has totally lost the room. We know that the Molsons are not exactly hurting for dollars, but I doubt that they’ll be too keen on paying two people millions of dollars to not be NHL head coaches.
Habs needed that, completely outshooting the opponent and getting the W. They’ve had way too many brain cramps around open nets and rebounds. Could be the start of something.
How are things going in the good old 2010? It’s been 2011 for a three hours already here in arctic scandinavia. Let’s hope we’ll win all the the rest of the games!!!
A goalie’s job is to stop the puck, which he didn’t. He cheated and gave a nice opening to St-Louis who cashed it to the bank. There was no pass, thus the goalie lack of confidence to his d-men gave the sniper a nice easy goal. The pass would have to beat 3 players, instead an outside shot found the net. Remember it was a 3 on 5 with lots of ice to cover. I find your reasoning poor and refused it categorically. And it had nothing to do with Subban, it could be Webber for all I care. You don’t cheat and leave 1/3 of the top of your net open when down 2 men. You need to be forced to give those openings with a lot of puck movement.
Wrong again on line changes. And frankly, I don’t care what Brunet nor Boone would have to say about that. If the forward would have dumped the puck down the ice there were no problems. That didn’t happen. One defenceman is far closer to the bench than the other one depending on their position and they need a few seconds to skate there. The dman did his job and covered the chance of a long pass that would have possibly led to a breakaway. It’s completely the person who got OFF the bench who is in fault here. You’re reaching and you know it and you cannot blame a player for doing his JOB after yet another lazy play from the Habs offense.
It would have been a lose/lose situation for any defenceman under that circumstance.
Huh? He was on the opposite side of St-Louis. It was Gill who didn’t take him, not PK. Two many men had little to do with him either, otherwise he’d be in the box wouldn’t he?
He got caught out of position in defending Ryan Malone, forcing Price to cheat to his right to cover a possible pass, thus giving St. Louis a gap inside of the post at which to shoot.
The team can choose any player that was on the ice at the time of the too many men call to serve the penalty. Because PK didn’t serve the penalty doesn’t mean that he wasn’t at fault.
Yes it was Subban’s fault that Price went down early and left the top corner wide open for a sniper like St-Louis. Comon. I’m not going to get on Price’s case today but seriously, that comment is ignorant to say the least.
And every coach will tell you that the person who got ON THE ICE is the principle cause of the penalty, the guy on the ice was doing his job. Heck, the player was NO WHERE near the bench. Twice, 2 players jumped on the ice when one player came out. That’s a classic case of not paying attention to who is your man on the ice.
If the Hab forwards actually you know, dumped the puck in with assertion and cause a turnover like that old players with slow reflex skills wouldn’t have jumped on the ice even when their player was skating back 30 feet away from them.
Wasn’t over the shoulder but between the post and shoulder (bad positioning by Price who as well as everyone in the building was expecting a pass) but as bad as PK played (he was the player for the 2 many men penalties) the Habs sucked the last 2 periods. If Wez. scores instead of hitting the post different game, however last night so many Habs played so bad Webber, Cammy, Pouliet (espically bad), Laps (only player in the NHL who can lose the puck and fall down at the same time with no Tampa player within 15 feet of him) Darche, Halpren etc. Habs built up their shot totals after Tampa had a 4-1 lead and after the 1st period the shots they got lots were from long range (and seemed to fool CD but he did save them). Just a really bad game, however I usually leave the coaching to JM giving the players a day off after the Caps loss dumbfounded me. A good hour long practise no sticks just skating to remind them their hockey players. Almost as bad as Mario’s soccer pratice after a string of losses a few years ago.
If Subban had done his job, Price wouldn’t have had to cheat on the play. Of course he still could have hugged the post, but then a cross-crease pass for an easy tip-in becomes a real possibility.
On line changes, it’s the responsibility of both the players coming on and going off to execute it smoothly. That means not jumping on early, AND hustling your ass off to so as to let the linseman know that you’re out of the play. Pk was guilty on that second count, something that the RDS guys and Boone picked up on last night.
Don’t get me wrong; Subban was FAR from the only player that needed his head screwed on straight, but my criticism of him stemmed from the comment at the top of this thread that said that PK didn’t make any large errors last night.
The goalie\s job is to stop the shot. The defenceman’s job is to stop the pass. It doesn’t matter where Subban is. THe shot MUST be stopped from that angle. If St. Louis passed and they scored, fine, but this is not on Subban, just a careless play by Price.
They were rewarded for their effort today. A big win, Thank God, hate being grouchy on New Years’ Eve. Hopefully the last while was just a bad dream and we can get back on track now that this longest of road trips is over.
Uncle Fester (JM) will be proud. As will Cousin Itt (PG). So will Lurch (Hal Gill) And the Wiz (JW). Along with all the Munchkins in Munchkinland (Gio, Wee Dee Dee etc…)
A lot of posters as well as myself were thinking there was a lockerroom problem. Is it possible there was…Max got the boot..Habs get 48 shots yes count them 48 shots on goal as well many blocked. Looked happy with the win and high 5′s all around. Maybe Max was being more of a dick than it looked. Anyway thank you Wiz, just fantastic playing as well as most others with lots of effort. Maybe having the poster boy booted shows that PG is willing to go the extra mile and not worry about the media in Montreal. Hats off to PG for that move.
G Mike Brodeur shut us out last year against OTT, it’s funny, I don’t see him starting in nets for OTT on a regular basis these days. The way the Habs were playing, Toskala could have been on the other end and pitched a win.
Boo freakin’ hoo, 26 year old goalie who flopped in the AHL Playoffs, we didn’t give away Hasek.
So horrid. But, I mean, at this point, whatever. They’ve lost so many games of late I just don’t even care and I’m not sure the players care much either. And there’s nothing any coach or pundit can say. The players are eventually gonna have to say, “Nope, that’s it,” and start actually putting their heart and soul into every shift. At the end of the day, it all comes down to them. And they just don’t have it right now. But, I’m pretty sure they’ll get it back before too many more losses pile up.
If Desjardins let in 4 goals and the Habs would have one know one would be talking about how we should have kept him. This is stupid the habs are playing so bad right now every goaltender looks like a bonafide number 1 against us.
I can totally believe you wrote that. It’s an accurate description of this team. They are a bunch of pussys who play like ass. Political correctness be damned.
Unless you don’t call getting off the ice in time to avoid TWO too many men penalties, or being out of position on the St. Louis goal a single large error, then yeah, he had a decent night.
I try not to be negative but this team is really looking below than average…I’m going to guess it’s because there’s a lot of internal injuries that players are playing through….but I will also take it maybe one more step forward in assuming that JM our coach has lost his team…We really need a new coach somebody to rejuvinate and inspire the players to be proud to wear the HABS JERSEY
Over the last three games plus 25 minutes of this one, the Habs have scored 2 goals out of 117 shots, for an opposing goaltending total of .983.
This represents a pace of over 34 shots a game, which is plenty, so quantity is not the issue.
Can anyone tell me with a straight face that this is reflective in any way of the number or quality of chances the Habs have had, or the true quality of opposing goaltending?
It’s a fluke run slump. It’s lasted way too long and needs to stop soonish or the Habs will fluke their way out of the playoffs, but it’s still a fluke run.
Hamrlik was really weak on that first goal. No fight for the puck. Earlier in the season he would have gotten there first and cleared it. This effort is pathetic.
Well, Lafleur retired in 1983, came back but with the Nordiques and Rangers; Richer was traded to New Jersey; Cournoyer retired; Beliveau hung them up after his last Cup win; Henri decided that 11 Cups was enough; and Shutt got tired of being those most under-appreciated 60-goal man in Habs history and decided to pack it in. Oh, and The Rocket also took the skates off after winning 5 Cups in a row.
Well clearly trading away Laps have made this team so much better. JM and PG you two have to be the smartest men in the room. Thats a room full of rocks.
he has panned out..he is a 14-16 goals scorer..thats what he is….what i have seen from him he may have one great year when everything goes in but he is a career teens scorer…better than many players in the nhl
Gomez chases his man into the corner, stops 5 feet away.
Player skates off and dumps it into montreal’s corner…
Hamrlik then chases his man into the corner, stops 3 feet away…
Player skates off. Passes. Goal….
And to think the Habs just traded their leader in hits (albeit a faux-boxer p###y-ass schmuck)
We get some cap space – Which I think is the key, along with opening opportunities for other players. Cap space cannot be judged until after the trade deadline.

One can only dream.
I was one of those guys who saw gorges as nothing more then a depth dman at best after that trade. Glad me proved me wrong.

How about a king-size box of frozen waffles? Oh wait. We already have that.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
A dozen donuts would be a pretty good return. Man i could go for a donut
Another D? Does this mean the Gorges is injury is worse than thought? Does it mean someone else on D will be traded (Spacek I hope).
By the way, we all thought Gorges was a bag of pucks when we first got him so the jury is still out on Festerling
RDS is saying it too. Hopefully it’s for something good coming back.
“It must be love!”
Looking at the Ducks’ roster, I’m hoping Sbisa comes back. Bobkov has looked okay in the WJC.

What the Hell?!?!?
I was never a fan of Lappy. I’m a sportsmanship guy and I don’t like his game, but surely we could’ve gotten more than that? A roster player at least.

Pierre LeBrun confirms that it’s Lapierre for Brett Festerling (Cool name or what?) and a 5th round pick.

If it makes you feel better the Blackhawks lost 8 or 9 straight last season, and look how that turned out.
The Caps had a similar slump last season, and still finished first. But we all know how their season ended.

It’s official, in one of the richest drafts in history all that the Habs have left is Halak’s replacement, Lars Eller.
It will be interesting to see what AK46 can bring in the way of a return.

WIZ TRAILING, ON THE REBOUND FROM A CAMMY SHOT! (for those who missed it)
The Whizzer looks good wearing Pete Mahovalich’s number!
Big day for The Wiz. 2 goals, 1 assist.
I am fed up with AK46.
Once used to be my favourite player. But his lack of involvement has really hurt his career. Let’s say the Cammalleri-Plex line had someone else, not even a star player, maybe someone like Backes, that line would be all of a sudden, a lot more effective than the current one.
We outshot them 2-1.
WTF happened???
Never saw a second of the OT – RDS cut out.
I am told by a very reliable source that James Wisnieuski scored in overtime to give the Habs a 3-2 victory over the Florida Panthers.
Nobody beats the Wiz. Nobody.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
No one is raggin’ on The Whizzer now!!!
Was this RDS’s way of protesting the trading of Yapierre?
- In Price We Trust
Me too I’m that and Rds is a total disgrace!
That is sound, fundamental hockey. Props to Cammalleri for going to the net and for Wisniewski to follow up
with the rebound and score the game winning goal in OT. Just how you should attack the net.
Go abs Go!
Shots have 45-22 in favour of the Habs – holy cow.
Send in the Flying Monkeys!!!
I still think the New Year’s Eve game in 1976 was the best I’ve ever seen. If Dryden and Tretiak play normal, the Habs would have won 8-1.
and RDS sucks even more. Did they forget about OT?
Great effort from the 2nd game in less than 24 hours against a rested opponent.
Martin benched AK46 for Pyatt at the end. I didn’t think AK’s penalty was his fault. He was battling for the puck but got a bit unlucky that he broke the other guy’s stick. Pyatt is trying hard.
Is anyone else thinking the same thing as me? That these teams are evenly matched? ie. we’re no better than the Panthers?
Great way to end off the 2010 year HIO and RDS LMAO!
What the F is going on? H I/O servers not serving. Now no feed for the O/T. Has the world gone completely MAB?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
1975 one was even better.
“HIGGINS, TO WIN IT!”
LOL YEAH RIGHT
Yeah baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Happy New Year!
THE WIZ AGAIN!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!! WE WON!!!
The Wiz!!
- In Price We Trust
I used to love HIO, but since the last server “upgrade”, it’s just like a bad girlfriend, always cutting out at the most crucial moments.
Full Breezer 4 Life
The Habs just won 3-2 on a goal by Wiz?
Thank God for atdhe.net! I watched the goal!! RDS should be ashamed of themselves.
Two points, two points, two points! That is all that matters.
I know the league is against us but that’s reidiculous!
To Palookaville. A one-way ticket.
***Subbang!!!***
Seriously, the Habs suck.
LOL @ RDS. Now they can’t even figure out how to get their commercials started on time.
Boone, that was a Cammalleri tournover! TWICE
Not trying to make excuses, but we’re playing 5 games in less than seven days.
Panthers have not played since the 27th.
I’d pay good money not to see Darche on the 1st line PP.
I see Pyatt has taken Lappy’s place.
Does anyone in their right mind think that is not a downgrade?
Ah what am I saying. Lappy sucked.
Darche on the PP really bugs me. Yeah, he puts himself in front, but he does nothing when he’s there.
Yup.
Then again he’s the only one who goes to the net.
come on hamrlik hold the puck in
And a back-to-back with less than 24 hours between games.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
What a dull game so far.
For those of you watching the World Juniors, is it me and my bias towards the Habs or is Leblanc’s line the best team Canada has, they’re doing some great forechecking, and I find Leblanc’s positioning has been great.
Watching the WJC. Any too-many-players (not men) penalties yet?
When was the last time the Habs traded away a francophone player in return for a non-francophone one in a 1 on 1 deal?
Steve Begin for Doug Janik
This lack of discipline across the board on this team is starting to piss me off.
It continues to amaze me that this team takes so many penalties when they’re not even physical.
Other than perhaps helping the cap, the silver lining might come with less needless penalties.
Still like Lapierre though.
Ribeiro for Niinimaa?
Did Auld just take a penalty?
Desharnais is waiting in Montreal. There is the upgrade.
ENOUGH!
ANOTHER PENALTY…
These penalties are ridiculous.
That can’t even be blamed on a lack of discipline. That’s just a terrible, terrible call.
FFS! Now even the goalie is taking a penalty!
WooHoo…no goals against! We’re on our way boys and girls.
***Subbang!!!***
Thank God, Florida’s PP is pathetic.
Wait… did Auld get a penalty for making a save?
Where?
Playing FLA to a scoreless tie = JM’s wet dream.
Boone, I read Souless after one
oh good heavens. Now RDS thinks that desharnais will take Gomez’ spot, and gomez will drop down. Really?
One can only hope the player who makes those around him score, replaces the one who sucks the scoring out of his linemates on a scoring line.
The only thing the Canadiens need at this point is a few goals each night.
Gomez should be sent to the “E” he sucks so bad!
RDS is going too far with these Lapierre highlights lol
Just got in and read the good news!!! I’m shocked we got that much for Yapierre. Problem now is when the Ducks come to Montreal, who’s going to get more attention, Saku or Yaps? I know who RDS will be focusing on…
- In Price We Trust
What in the hell just happened? I’m pissed that the RDS feed cut out but ecstatic they won.
Prospect Brett Festerling and a 5th round pick is all what we got for Maxim Lapierre…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Tomorrow’s Gazoo Headline: Festerling Joins Festering Habs!
That’s all he’s worth
Hilariously the two goalies they didn’t rush – Halak and Desjardins – they threw away for nothing. I love Price and he’s our future, but good lord. I’m tired of seeing other teams and hearing “ex-hab goalie stones the montreal canadiens”. Enough already.
Forgive me but even with his massive rebound issues Desjardins is faster and more agile than Auld. He would have taken the backup role, as that’s what he is in Tampa anyway.
It’s time for this team to go “Full Whizzer!!!”
He’s a defensively responsible MAB with an edge.
The hell was that?
Perhaps RDS was concerned that long-starvin’ Hab fans might blow their collective lids at the prospect of a victory on this longest of road trips?
Any-effin-who, Happy New Year all!
We traded a roster player for the eleventh defenceman on their depth chart and a fifth round pick.
Who runs this place?
Let’s not delude ourselves into thinking we just traded away Markus Naslund for Alex Stojanov.
Go Habs Go!
Why oh why does Bettman take our little joys away like that?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
MaxLap – career as a Hab – 40G – 40A – matching the number on his back.
What synchronicity! Love it.
Well the road trip from hell ends on a good note. The Wiz acquisition looks great. The team comes back from behind and wins for probably the 1st time this season. Turning point time for the Habs. Hopefully all it was a slump. Looking forward to what the new year brings.
This team can’t get home fast enough — they look tired and disinterested.
I am hoping DD gets a chance to show what he can do.
I am also hoping that PG continues to purge the team of ineffectual players, like Benny.
Purge the team? PG is the guy who traded for Benny last year!
Three days off early next week.
Time to start over.
Gauthier not done yet.!
Those big moves you are feeling are most likely a fart!
Hmm? I believe it was Sanford who cost the bulldogs their shot. Twice.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.

I was there for this one. the crowd exploded, it was awesome.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO69HwvdqNs&feature=related
I loved him in the playoffs last year. Sadly his time here has come to a close, a solid depth player with a scoring touch despite a lack of discipline. I wonder who’ll take up his spots and actually provide us with some hits?
Here in Ireland watching the local feed from Florida. Commercial: tickets for Panthers games in January are $9, including parking, and your money back “if you don’t have a good time”.
François Gagnon, for one, has no idea.”
You got that straight. This trade is a joke.
Most pointless franchise in hockey.
They only exist for vacationing Canadian hockey fans.
Is Grabovski the best 5th round pick we’ve ever chosen? Here are his competitora:
Peter Popvic
Paul Dipietro
Rick Wilson
Bill Nyrop
Molson boys won’t put up with this type of performance.!!!
They’re probably asking the question in Anaheim: “Who is Maxim Lapierre?” Let’s not pretend that we just traded away Gretzky for Patrice Tardif, Roman Vopat, Craig Johnson, and two draft picks.
Go Habs Go!
This team is no better than a traveling burlesque troop.
They were brought into the league by Bruce McNall and Bettman because at the time Wayne Heizinga (spelling) owned Blockbuster video plus the Marlins and the Dolphins. The league thought they would take advantage of marketing opportunities etc. We all know what happened though. McNall went to prison.
Hey!
Us American hockey fans vacation there as well!
Time to walk the dogs.
Game over?
The Wiz gets beaten
Here we go again………………..
at this rate, maybe we can land Sean Couturier at the draft?
Clutch goal for Canada.
The Wiz just shit the bed in only his 2nd game.
Count Chocula is having a nervous breakdown
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Pleks gets slashed on the shot and Leggo can’t call a penalty. What a joke. Why does Montreal continually get the same officials two games in a row? Shoot the puck at his god damned head.
< H I/O mode on>
JM would only ruin him.
<H I/O mode off>
Wiz, shit? Is this what the most storied team in hockey history has been reduced to?
Oi oi oi…
How bad is this team? This is clearly not just Price slumping for all the trolls out here
It’s contagious.
what’s going on here
buddy, there’s all kinds of trolls out here…we have’em all!
Game.
Sad that we can already say that, but it’s true.
Gionta and Gomez can just stay in the US for all I care.
These days it feels like it’s game at 1-0, or heck, at puck drop.
This slump is annoying, time for it to end. They’re not playing nearly as badly as they’d need to to get the results they’re getting.
Both goals came as a result of partially blocked shots by the defense.
The Habs couldn’t get lucky in the old Times Square with their pants at their ankles and a roll of C notes!
Both goals came as a result of partially blocked shots by the defense.
Will someone please show these clowns how to put a puck in the net.
Where do we find a coach???
Haven’t heard any names as candidates to take JM’s place.
Has Chris Higgins scored yet?
I was saying that at 1-0, hoping that somehow they would turn it around. But at 2-0 it really is, I’m just gonna focus on team Canada now.
Look on the bright side, LeBlanc looks great.
Got too excited watching Team Canada take the lead – forgot 2nd period had started. Turned on with 17:00 on the clock and a 2-0 deficit. Aye-iy-aye!!!
Go Habs Go!
Not to worry, Pyatt is well-rested, he will have a fight and three goals
Carbo’s still under contract.
Go Habs Go!
Gomer – is it possible to complete one pass?
I just through up in my mouth a little bit!
Perhaps the most noteworthy post of the day!!!!!!
That is the organizational dilemma the Habs face right now. Let’s assume the worst and say that Martin has totally lost the room. We know that the Molsons are not exactly hurting for dollars, but I doubt that they’ll be too keen on paying two people millions of dollars to not be NHL head coaches.
Go Habs Go!
Habs needed that, completely outshooting the opponent and getting the W. They’ve had way too many brain cramps around open nets and rebounds. Could be the start of something.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
How are things going in the good old 2010? It’s been 2011 for a three hours already here in arctic scandinavia. Let’s hope we’ll win all the the rest of the games!!!
Geez, am I drunk or what?
http://media.turku.fi/kamera1.html
If we ever vote for the best picture on HIO, you have my vote. Happy New Year!!!
Only on the Montreal Canadiens would the “Urologist” be replaced by the “Wizzer!”
wizz>>>> mab on defense heck if you ask me me MAB cost the oilers the stanleycup
Centre Hice: yeah, but was it legal?
Centre Hice: yeah, but was it legal?
The goalie\s job is to stop the shot. The defenceman’s job is to stop the pass. It doesn’t matter where Subban is. THe shot MUST be stopped from that angle. If St. Louis passed and they scored, fine, but this is not on Subban, just a careless play by Price.
They were rewarded for their effort today. A big win, Thank God, hate being grouchy on New Years’ Eve. Hopefully the last while was just a bad dream and we can get back on track now that this longest of road trips is over.
That suckS! Missed the Wiz goal in OT!
RDS Happy New Year!
Support your local indian – Price 31
Uncle Fester (JM) will be proud. As will Cousin Itt (PG). So will Lurch (Hal Gill) And the Wiz (JW). Along with all the Munchkins in Munchkinland (Gio, Wee Dee Dee etc…)
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Yay. They win. Upside, 2 pts. Downside, resets the fire JM clock back to zero.
He’s a Wiz alright. Rocket power!
Now all we need is some vinegar!
Happy New Year all. Exciting finish to year. Good luck Laps on finding your game again. Laps was brilliant once in a while and not so more.
LOL. Good one. How long before Geoff Molson realizes it is not the players that need to be purged. Two purgings in three years is a bit much.
Last year, I mentionned that Desjardins would have been a good bet to replace either Price or Halak once management decided which one they would keep.
We used to be the envy of sports teams. Now they only envy the every game sell outs.
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
By the way is anyone else glad we lost that Desjardins so we could sign Auld?
G Mike Brodeur shut us out last year against OTT, it’s funny, I don’t see him starting in nets for OTT on a regular basis these days. The way the Habs were playing, Toskala could have been on the other end and pitched a win.
Boo freakin’ hoo, 26 year old goalie who flopped in the AHL Playoffs, we didn’t give away Hasek.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
That move payed off last night,eh….Desjardins is goinna be a bonafied no:1 tender,we developed him well, lol
Wait wtf is this noise? a 5pm start after a back to back? Versus a well rested team? Desharnais wasn’t on a plane last night and won’t play till Sat?
F this noise, I don’t even want to watch
Going to be horrid
If Desjardins let in 4 goals and the Habs would have one know one would be talking about how we should have kept him. This is stupid the habs are playing so bad right now every goaltender looks like a bonafide number 1 against us.
Yeah, put the puns behind you…
Weren’t you referring to a genetic experiment where scientists attempt to cross a cat and a mule?
Such experiments are illegal and thus the penalty.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
I can totally believe you wrote that. It’s an accurate description of this team. They are a bunch of pussys who play like ass. Political correctness be damned.
LOL, you better stop right there.
So hey is Subban playing or is he benched despite not having a single large error last night? Weber benched? Picard benched?
Unless you don’t call getting off the ice in time to avoid TWO too many men penalties, or being out of position on the St. Louis goal a single large error, then yeah, he had a decent night.
Centre Hice: yeah, but was it legal?
9 goals in last 19 periods….cmon Habs…you can do way better than that.
Did we score a goal yet?
Didn’t we use to have goal-scorers? I’m pretty sure we use to have goal-scorers.
What happened to our goal-scorers?
They got Systematized!
Bad puck luck.
Go Habs Go!
Pouliot never panned out, among others?
when you were a bunny
Well clearly trading away Laps have made this team so much better. JM and PG you two have to be the smartest men in the room. Thats a room full of rocks.
wow… just got back from the break and it’s all of a sudden 2-0. Game over. Happy New Year Panthers!
I can smell ya from here Sheldon.!
And, the Habs from Florida!
Hey, look. The captain does have some emotion. hip hip hooray, the team’s not entirely dead. And sweden ties it up.
the goalie roy has looked nervous in all games played…
I’ve never seen the Habs this frustrated. They’re just putting more pressure onto themselves.
Not sure what the future holds
THis sucks..and to think, I’m missing Oprah for this????
God, why do you have to be so cruel…another penalty Jeez
OH WHAT – WE HAVE A PP?? LOL
Leblanc looked FANTASTIC on that play.
Pierre likes him. I’m worried.
***Subbang!!!***
Leblanc’s line draws another penalty, that’s 3 in a row.
Leblanc’s line draws another penalty, that’s 3 in a row.
Well, at least Louis Leblanc is having a good game for Team Canada.
WISNIEWSKI!!
JM will destroy him anyway!
THE WIZ!!!!
woohoo!!! a great first wave, and the second wave converts with under 15 seconds left when they gain the zone.
THE WIZ of AHH’s
Gio?
Finally a goal!
Go Habs Go!
Can’t wait until he’s called up and put on the 4th line with 6 minutes of gametime then get the life sucked out of his by the Count.
Attaboy Wiz! The first of many?
THE WIZ!!!!!
Thats our goal for today folks.
The Wiz!!!!
What are the chances that Markov will be feeding Wisniewski on the PP next year?
guys don’t get too excited, it’s just a tease, they’ll give up one soon enough
Nobody beats the Wiz! NOOOOOOOOOBODY!!!!!!!!!!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
That was the best 2 minutes of hockey the boys have played for the last few weeks, let’s hope they keep it up!!
take advantage, and the momentum will be ours.
FLA commentators: “The Montreal, Quebec people”
Um, how about “Montrealers”, or “Quebecers”?
I read lips. Santorelli said to the ref: “I DON’T wish you a Merry Xmas and I DON’T wish you a Happy New Year.”
The Habs scored? You gotta be shittin’ me!!!
How did Darche miss that? Why is he out there?
seems like having a point shot that actually hits the net kind of helps.
It’s a Festivus miracle.
***Subbang!!!***
The Canada/Sweden game has been a cracker. Crappy goaltending at both ends 5-5 and likely headed for OT!
I’m a 48-year old man walking around with a red, white and blue pompom on his head because it’s attached to my Habs toque. Which one of us needs help?
The game is at 11pm where I live and I am still going to watch it. I seriously need help I guess
I’m intrigued by the compound adjective “pussy-ass”, Boone. It seems oxymoronic.
I’m the kind of guy who keeps his options open. Can’t believe I wrote that. It’s the losing streak. I’m cracking (no pun) up.
Festerling most likely going to AHL, keeping lot’s of cap space for another acquisition before the deadline.
Cheap. Designed only to rile me.
If Poolio “hasn’t panned out”, then the Pac-Man is a colossal failure.
Haha, just bugging heh
Pouliot been in NHL a lot longer than Pax, comparing them is buggy!
Hopefully Lappy being dealt ignites a fire under Benny’s butt.
he has panned out..he is a 14-16 goals scorer..thats what he is….what i have seen from him he may have one great year when everything goes in but he is a career teens scorer…better than many players in the nhl
Nice pass Gomer!
COMEBACK?? YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME?
WHO ARE THESE GUYS DRESSED UP AS HABS
That was genius by Gomez. Absolute GENIUS.
…Eh, I was gonna post something sarcastic about how everyone says Gomez sucks…but ya seriously. Maybe Gomez ain’t a half bad player huh?
When it rains, it pours.
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAA
“I went to see a fight the other night…And A hockey game broke out!” ~Rodney Dangerfield~
WOW! Did we just score TWO goals in one period?? Nice fake-shot by Gomer.
that was thing of pure beauty!!!!!! Keep it up boys!!!
OK – I take it back. Gomer completed one hell of a pass! Et le but!!!!
GO HABS GO!!
Islanders DID help cure the WSH slump….
Oy-oy-oy…..
I call dibs on the lamp post on the corner of St Catherines and Peel!
***Subbang!!!***
There goes their scoring quota for the evening!
The Wiz and the Munchkins down in Munchkinland can finally see a win somewhere over the rainbow.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Can Wiz suck like that more, because his cannon is making a huge difference here.
OVERTIME in WJHC! Great game!
WOOHOO~!!!!! They are ALIVE! Now let’s just hope the boys remember that they still got about 25 min of game left to play.
I’m on top of the Calèche du Sexe marquee!
For the love of god Habs, don’t take the next penalty.
Oliver Roy scares the hell out of me.
Canada has always had such great goalies but I don’t know about this year…
Canada-Sweden. OT.
Oliver Roy scares the hell out of me.
Canada has always had such great goalies but I don’t know about this year…
Ohh JM is not gonna like that..
The server needs more Jack Daniels. Lots of it.
Wow, is the HIO server hosted inside a tin shed?
Finally!
At least we can take confort in the knowledge that like the habs, the HIO server sucks.
H I/O server is acting up again…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
You know at some point that server issue should be taken care of.
Giggity giggity!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Shots are 36-18… for the Habs!
Pyatt seems to be happy about Laps getting traded. He’s playing very well.
And they call the slash on AK, but not the repeated holds against the cats. nice.
Can we seriously ship AK please.
That stick broke pretty easily.
I’d take that penalty for AK over lazy play any time.
Are today’s hockey sticks made of styrofoam?
This is bullsh*t
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Happy New Year Everyone, server down again, what in the worl is going on????????????

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Say what you want about his lack of speed/skill, but Gill is a PK dynamo.
40 shots, and approximately 80% of them have hit vokoun in the chest.
Hey! Was that an Ice Girl or a nice girl?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

GIGGITY !!! …..and didnt JM look like he delivered that message at gunpoint ?
No.
Unless Festerling becomes the second coming of Josh Gorges there’s no way we win this deal
The torch be yours to hold it high!
I guess we save a little money, but we definitely got hosed.
We get some cap space – Which I think is the key, along with opening opportunities for other players. Cap space cannot be judged until after the trade deadline.
looked to me like andrei was tripped there.
Same sh*t different night…I’ve come to expect the reffing to be atrocious every single night.
Canada-Sweden at 4pm.
Well there is some good hockey to look forward to today after all.
Maybe both of us…
Festerling was captain of the Vancouver Giants’ memorial cup winning team:

Gorges was the captain of the Memorial Cup winning Kelowna Rockets, can you say second coming?
Darche interfered with and high sticked, ak tripped, and we get the first penalty. BS.

Putting on the same jerseys doesn’t make a team. You’re still just a collection of individuals until you find a common goal.

I have a feeling it’s only just beginning.
So have the IT support techs come to hate Habsinsideout.com yet?
Man, when Gomez gets going like that, you can almost, just for a second, understand why he’s making so much money.
LOVE the effort – SO REFRESHING
Did someone spike Gomers bottle
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
We get a point!
pull Auld.
I’m a big critic of Gomez, but he’s playing his best game of the season tonight. flying out there. Nice to see a good Habs effort for once.
HOLLY CRAP..we got a point!
Back on! Great 3rd period, best game of the road trip imo. Let’s take the two points! GO HABS GO!!!
Well, at least the habs get minimum a point. RDS just had a mini HIO meltdown there.
