Back to Boston

Boston has played two Game 6s in these playoffs.
They lost at the Bell Centre.
And they lost at the St. Pete Times Forum.

Dwayne Roloson is 7-0 career in elimination games. But he wasn’t spectacular.

Boston was held to 20 shots, only six in the third period (but two went in).

But the Bruins did manage their first power play goal on the road.

The Lightning PP was 3-for-4.

Game 7 on Friday night.

Hate em or Love em, Boston has the better overall team plus Goaltending. But as we’ve seen so far they don’t always win. so I guess we’ll have to wait till friday night to find out.

    • RetroMikey says:

We could say the same thing for those lady luck Tampa Bay team who had the best possible seeding in the playoffs.
They are so lucky to make it this far.

    • RetroMikey says:

But we choked, we could have been up 3-1 in the series.
Let’s not be sore sports and say “If we…” or “what if….”‘
We lost to a hungrier team that wanted it more in the Bruins.

Gawd, its going to be “fun” watching this guy win everything in sight for the foreseeable future, ain’t it?

Because we all know there are just TONS of great hockey minds who also happen to be bilingual and young. Yes sir.

OK, I know we couldn’t install him as coach but he is turning out to be everything good said about him. But he wanted to coach NOW and the CAnadiens couldn’t accomodate him. Shame that..

If the lightning go down 1-0 after 1 period on friday is it over?

    • Mike Boone says:

Nope. They have bona-fide great players: St. Louis, Lecavalier, Stamkos. Great players play great in Game 7s.

      • hdcase says:

You are 100% correct. No lead is safe with these guys. That fifth goal really was an outstanding effort on St Louis part. The Boston defense man didn’t play it that poorly. St Louis didn’t have a lot of space to get his stick on the puck but he still put the puck in the net. You know who else has been killing the Bruins? Steve Downie. I’ve always thought of him as mostly a thug but he’s made some terrific hockey plays in this series.

        • mike.wright12 says:

Tochett was great for Downie. I would agree that he was a thug with Philadelphia and I couldn’t stand him. But he’s really gotten his game together since joining the Lightning. He plays on the edge, but for the most part, he doesn’t go overboard anymore. I would say he’s been a nice surprise for that organization, but he was a 1st rounder… And he hasn’t only been really good this series, he’s 14 pts in 16 GP these playoffs!

  7. arcosenate says:

Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton need a real good ass whppin’, a little trip down the league won’t deal with it but I will lane. Put Arthyukin on the Habs roster and the two pretenders will waltz the other way.

Moore is playing awesome hockey and they hate him, fine, but if the league encourages this crap after the final whistle we need frontier justice.

In soccer they’d be gone for 2 games, done. that’s the way to handle jerks like that, suspend them for not obeying the final whistle, badda bing badda boom.

    • TomNickle says:

Those players waltz away from Wisniewski and Moen consistently. Having a presence on the roster isn’t the solution, they target players who can’t adequately respond and locate the nearest linesman when a potential threat arrives.

      • arcosenate says:

but mr. arthukyn would seek out their comments when they messed with our scorers, he would keep the playing field level. and he ain’t a bad hockey player.

        • TomNickle says:

He’s a pretty bad hockey players first of all. Seek out their comments? Keep the playing field level? If they avoid him and target our skilled players it does no good for us at all.

        • pat s says:

If arthukyn can play I say lets get him. I prefer Boulton or Cam Janssons but we need somebody b/c next year we will be getting bullied again. 95% of bruin/flyer etc fans will advocate for an element of toughness in their lineup but montreal fans, we can cut it down to 40-50% and this is why we have such a pretty boy, play nice billy hockey lineup. Habs managment can get away with it.

        • mike.wright12 says:

That’s not what this organizations about. We get on just fine by taking the puck and skating around them. We don’t back down during after the whistle altercations and Evgeny Arthukyn is not our answer. Ryan White could do whatever job you want arthukyn to do.. Why did you pick his name from all the other options out there? Last time we tried getting a touted heavywheight, look what happened… We kicked him off the team… It’s just not our thing. Besides, Lucic and Horton are just classless bums and are not worth us remodeling our team in the slightest on account of their crap.

      • pat s says:

I understand being a hab fan makes it difficult to have any sort of like for boston but your post is completely ridiculous. Lucic or Horton turtle to the whiz and moen. Lucic would give the wiz and moen such a beating in a fight that it wouldn’t be funny. Moen couldn’t even beat ferrence and you think horton and lucic would lose to them. Wow, I heard it all now.

        • TomNickle says:

The proof is in the pudding. They avoid Moen and Wisniewski and target players like Subban, Plekanec and Pouliot.

          • pat s says:

maybe you should ask why do they target those players–they target those players b/c they can get away with it. Nobody on Montresl can do anything about it. If they were so afraid of the wiz or moen they would not take runs at those players. Come on man.

          • _Habsoloutly_ says:

Don’t bother talking facts with Pat S, he is a troll bruins fan.

          • pat s says:

Habsolutely–thats your way out of an argument you cannot win b/c the facts speak for themselves

you talk about this and that blah blah blah but the talking on the ice says different–your posts sound like a financial adviser saying this”yeah, I know people are making money with Johnnie but you will be making money with our firm tomorrow but tomorrow never comes”

when you talk like that you just admit defeat b/c you don’t know what you are saying–trust me

you blame everybody else with the shortfalls of montreal except montreal just like a parent blaming everybody else for their kid’s mistakes

by the way,i do think boston is far better than the habs, but i also think tampa, vancouver, and san jose are also far better than this play nice billy hockey club we have

and all you do is bash the bruins b/c of jealousy like those whiny bruin fans that used to bash montreal everytime we beat them

        • Jim Edson says:

Luchicken only takes on a player from behind or with a linesman between him and whomever he targets.

    Just do it.

    • Bugs says:

What stands out most is: “JD wants to hate Marty.”

  11. habs001 says:

hopefully tampa wins game 7 and sorry canuck fans the cup…Krejci’ now has 10 goals …plecks could have these type of playoff stats but the way martin uses him in the regular season he has very little left in the tank by the the playoffs…if management for the habs likes to have 4-5 players on the team that score 2-6 goals a season than these players better be good enough to do 90% of the pk…

  12. habitude says:

    C’mon Habs South!

  13. zozotheclown says:

Roloson has to play next game, after all he has the experience (7-0 in elimination games now) and has had a good playoff overall. But that said he has to be MUCH better in game 7, all the goals today were stoppable, some more then others. If he’s going to steal a game this series now would be the time, Boston is going to be coming hard after getting to him today.

  14. sidhu says:

Lucic gives a cheap shot at the end, instead of fighting face to face like a man. No class on that team.

    • Bugs says:

Man, I love this place! Classless, all of’em. Pure scum.
Cuz Looch gave a shot at the end.
Everyone who’s ever done that since the dawn of hockey-time has been on a team with no class. Boom. Done and DONE.

      • mrhabby says:

        and your point is…

        • Bugs says:

Bergeron has no class? Paille has no class? Krejci has no class? Peverly has no class? Tyler SÉGUIN has no class? KABERLE has no class? Tim Thomas has no class? Kampfer? Seidenberg? Doug JARVIS has no class? Geoff Ward has no class? Bob Essensa has no class? The whole dang TEAM?
Or…is it, possibly, just a few guys who “have no class?”
          See the point now?

Gone figuratively fishin filibusts L. B. Potter, esq.

          • TomNickle says:

Krecji most certainly does not have class, nor does Tim Thomas. Like I said, the list of those who do on that roster is shorter than the list of those who don’t.

          • TomNickle says:

I may dislike the Bruins, but I dislike the Flyers just as much and can’t think of that many players on their roster without class. Richards, Pronger and Powe are the only three that I can think of. There’s a difference between healthy rivalry and dislike based on hypocritical and cowardly behaviour.

          • HabFanSince72 says:

The Bruins are like the curate’s egg. Parts of it aren’t rotten.

          • Bugs says:

      • TomNickle says:

I think that a lot of people are sick of Lucic cross-checking players in the face, sucker punching them, hitting them from behind, then running away from fights and facing no discipline from the league Bugs. And yes, for a player to behave like that and sit proudly among a group of players who publicly criticize players who they feel dive, don’t fight, or don’t play the game the way THEY do, it is expected that a classless label should follow him.

        • Bugs says:

          “Him”, yes, perhaps.
          The whole team? No.

Gone figuratively fishin filibusts L. B. Potter, esq.

          • _Habsoloutly_ says:

Yes, the whole team. The whole team is classless. Get a clue rabbit.

          • TomNickle says:

Whole team is an exaggeration. Lucic, McQuaid, Ference, Boychuck, Thomas, Recchi, Horton, Marchand, Krejci, Campbell, Paille and of course Claude Julien and Cam Neely. I suppose the list of players on that team who conduct themselves with class would’ve been shorter.

A little less focus on semantics and a little more focus on the root of the opinion Bugsy.

          • TomNickle says:

And Bugs, I’ll gladly apologize if you can find where I said that the whole team lacks class. I would like to add Chara to the list who don’t have class for his comment that Pacioretty jumped into the glass.

          • Bugs says:

I didn’t SAY anything against you, Tommy. I replied to Sid.
YOU butted in on that thread. THAT thread’s subject was WHOLE TEAM vs FEW ELEMENTS OF TEAM with me supporting the latter.
Arguing against me means you’re on the other side. Those are the RULES of the thread.
