Especially Lecavalier? Not a chance. Stamkos is more mature at 20 than Lecavalier has ever been. He’s gotten so good so fast because he’s dedicated to becoming an elite player, and thus works his tail off with Gary Roberts every summer. St. Louis helps from a play making perspective, but from the games I’ve seen, their point totals are mutually beneficial, neither would be as good as the other.
Moen has Cup experience and provides some of the “Grit” you speak of. However; Moen does not have the skill set for 2nd line duties, not with the Habs, or any NHL team.
Ryan White has potential for bottom six duties in Habville and may even be a future upgrade to Moen, as he has grit, solid two way play, a right hand shot, and can take draws when necessary. Currently injured. Keep in mind Ryan would be a bigger Cap hit playing with the big club than Halpern, Boyd, Pyatt, or Darche.
Shultz is just trying to find his way with the Dogs at this point. Not sure anyone could project his potential today.
Pax – happy to see him get an eventual call-up. Would prefer JM / PG wait a bit longer, at least until Pax is dominating not only the Dogs, but the entire AHL. Will he fill that glaring 2nd line hole and offer the Habs power forward skills? Maybe a huge leap, as we see players like Pouliot and Eller not even getting a sniff of 2nd line duties.
Friedman asked him about Kaberle asking him to come to Toronto as a free agent, but Pleks said his heart was always in Montreal. Maybe this summer, Pleks can get Kaberle to come to Montreal.
Hey Ian,Another is Yankee Stadium # 1 for being the center of the universe. I saw Derek Jeter and A-Rod and they clobbered Boston in a doubleheader. What a blast.
I saw this up, so I posted this up top, before I saw it here.
24 Cups—Yes the forum was all of that. For me, it was the only place.
It was the center of my home province and yes my country. It was the
center of the universe, even mentioning the name, FORUM,brings goose
bumps.
Oh he’ll likely get on it, you’d swear PK pulled a knife on the guy with some of the venom I’ve read since last night. Gloves are off, keep your guard up!
24 Cups—Yes the forum was all of that. For me, it was the only place. It was the center of my home province and yes my country. It was the center of the universe, even mentioning the name, FORUM,brings goose bumps.
He’s not overly physical, or defensively aware…I would pick crosby and ovechkin before stamkos…but stammer would prob be in the top 3 or 4 depending on malkin
I think what stamkos benefits the most is that he has veterans like st-louis and lecavalier to help him out
especially lecavalier who was a former first overall as well
Referring to Mike Boone’s Over/Under re Coaches Corner on Luke Schenn’s fight. How about O/U re Cherry on PK’s supposedly late sucker punch last nite vs. Atlanta’s goon guy? In fact, the Atlanta broadcasters were comparing it to Avery’s cheapshot on the Edmonton guy a week or two ago.
Love that Dave Hodge quote. Thanks for sharing. I grew up going to the Forum, and he captured the essence and importance of the building so well in that paragraph. One other thing I would’ve thrown in is the memory of those cold winter nights, the wind and snow whipping down the main and there were the glowing crossed hockey sticks, warm and inviting, and the air electric…miss that place.
Another poignant quote about the Habs from Hodge during the Centennial season that has always stuck with me:
“Never mind that other teams have been more successful in recent years, because there’s only one team that every team would like to become. It takes 100 years and it takes a certain feeling, beyond words spoken or written, to become.”
It would be the same if the Habs were to Miller, then what? Besides, we do have the home advantage. When is the last time Habs lost on home ice? …oh, nevermind… let just win!
My first game at the old Forum was against Pittsburgh . I don’t remember players names. Other games were Philly in 06/07, Buffalo, Boston, Vancouver , Hartford ,Calgary,Chicago, Washington, Rangers. The games were like an event like no other i have experienced..Bell Centre coming close.
I bought a blue seat from the old place when the Forum closed. I should have bought 2. The seat sits proudly in my basement beside TV..
great stuff. he totally nailed it. i had the pleasure of going there three times as a kid (Gretz and the kings, Leafs, a Russian team, can’t remember which).
great memories (despite the fact that i forget which russian team it was).
i disagree with your stanley cup formula. brian burke has tried that very same thing with the leafs and they can’t even make the dance. i’ll take tough skill like gionta and cammy any day. 18 moens wouldn’t win 30 games in the nhl. i do agree with pax and white playing, but at the expense of who?
for success tonight, we just need to stick to the same blue print as last night’s game. If Price can hold the fort for the first 30 minutes, Buffalo will fall completely asleep with boredom and we can throw a few in the net.
Time for the LITMUS TEST: Is BUFF fast? yes…. are they dirty goons? no….
Result: Habs have a very high probability of winning tonight…. yes its that simple.
1:The N.A.G. (North American Grit) Youth Movement will bring us respect. 2: Give me 18 MOENS and I’ll give you the Stanley Cup. 3. ..call up WHITE/SHULTZ/PAX now.
“And then there was the Montreal Forum, which felt like the home of the Stanley Cup, and was our overwhelming Hodgemail winner. It was a place to behold when it was empty. It smelled like hockey — the apple-red seats seemed freshly-painted for every game, and the ice glistened like no other. And when the Forum filled up and the hot dogs were steaming and the sounds of hockey came in two languages — you felt more than glad to be there — you felt privileged. In saying goodbye to the Forum during a TSN broadcast of the final game in March of 1996, I had the feeling that hockey would never be the same. But surely no arena was ever that important to the game, or maybe the Montreal Forum was.”
Dave Hodge discussing some of his favourite arenas from the past.
One of the things I did notice, even though I had a head full of whiskey last night, is there was this grizzly old dude in the stands first row behind the bench who looked like he’d rather be watching fishing or bowling.
The other thing was the ice, if you want to call it that, was sluggish to say the least.
There are in the same boat as many similar franchise, in that they have to make a good playing showing, win a round, to have something to build. I totally agree with you, if this doesn’t happen soon.
The long-term implications of what those signings would have done to the roster is the question though, how long does ownership with a half-full building sink money into the team? I can’t see ATL spending to the cap and having 7-9 million sunk into a single player would have likely upset the team balance a little.
I just don’t see a real future in the franchise anymore than I believe Dale Tallon will make something out of the Panthers.
It’s tough to say, they were willing to sign Kovalchuk and Hossa long term. The trick will be to make players want to stay there by building a promising team. That starts with good extension to Kane and Bogosian in a year or so.
They’re still in NSH territory, they won’t be able to afford their talent long-term because of their lousy financial status. They’re improved with what CHI sent them but how long some of that talent stays there is another story, wouldn’t be the first time they had to give up players to afford their internal budget with Ladd, Byfuglien and Bogosian as RFAs next summer.
Habs looked like they played their game in a packed shopping mall!
I have to give a nod to Tom Nickle, who last season pointed out what a good GM Rick Dudley would be for whoever signed him. Very astute signings over thesummer. Atlanta is not done improving.
JM, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, END THE MOEN-ON-A-SCORING-LINE EXPERIMENT!
Personally, I think Benny and Eller should be getting more ice time, they compete and forecheck like nobody’s business. I don’t know why Benny isn’t playing a top-six role — he is a scorer, not a checker. He played well with Gomez and Gio last season. I think Benny’s stock slipped big time in the playoffs, when JM took him off the top six and has kept it that way since.
Nice rush by PK up front. He didn’t get back to cover his man and the Sabres nearly scored. Lucky the Price was right in that situation from the view here in the peanut gallery…
my goodness. Gerbe virtually sprints in at almost full speed, winds up above his head and rips it amid a massive scramble, and we’re all like ‘aw crap, that’s going in for sure’. But no. Price has it.

guys explain to me why players dont play their natural position, like kostitsy, and i though pouliot was centreman, and Pk playing left on the pp, i thought he played on the right
Just got in from a day of hellish shopping and a very average dinner. Xmas is so full of unrealised expectations. Then I turn on the game and…3-0!!! So, what’d I miss in 10 words or less?
too bad…the shutout was the only thing in question. Too bad it had to be broken by a weak one. Shouldn’t have gone down – should have been further out challenging.
But whatever, one goal against is still great.

Trivia For you: Leopold was dealt to get Jay Bouwmeester’s negotiating rights in the summer of 2009, he has since outscored Bouwmeester since the deal was done with a heavy 18-5 advantage in goals.
Hey Boone. I believe if a Penalty shot would be awarded against a team with an empty net the attacking team gets an awarded goal with under 1 or 2 minutes to play.
I am normally content just reading all the cool posts, but all my buds are working and have no one to talk hockey with.
Ive taken alot of flack in my small northern town for defending AK46 the past couple of years. But every backcheck, puck battle and hard working shift this year has made up for it. I think PG really did trade Sergei for Andrei.
Jeff Halpern, needs a nickname BTW (Bugs im looking to you to come up with one), has to be considered one the best bottom 6 forwards in the league so far this season. All the little things he does game in game out has been outstanding.
Gio is rolling, Gomez will follow his lead. Eller can play, and the D is solid. Never thought i could be so optimistic without Markov, but I am loving this team!
Twice now, Carey Price has outdueled the man considered the best goalie in the world last season and with a heavier workload on him. He’s the best in the NHL right now and that’s all there is to it.
Yeah like I’m sure that jackass knows what EVERYONE thinks. What a joke. Remember what Sean Avery said abt all the Europeans hating Cherry and his xenophobia? That moron is off his meds again.
I bet dopes like Richards and the like actually think Don is a smart guy – so he perpetuates the whole thing. But all and all for Habs fans like us: who give a sh? Whatever.
Subban must have really dissed Cherry at some point during his junior career or something. The hatred the Village Idiot has towards PK borders on pathological.
Again, Cherry is trying to justify his prophecy that Subban’s cockiness will get him in trouble. Know what? If Subban does get injured or targeted, Cherry will now be partly responsible. In a perverse and indirect way, he’s perpetuating it from his CBC pulpit. It’s surreal! How can this glaringly redneck man, sustained by such little credibility, continue to opine on national TV, funded by us, and get away with it… in an F’n pink suit to boot!
in the face-on replay you can see pyatt never had a chance to look at anything but the puck until the guys stick was under his arm, and never saw gionta, so to call it selfish is a little overbaked. anyhow, do you think think gio would prefer a hat trick or seeing a hardworking kid who kills on the pk get his first of the season?
I honestly do not think Pyatt was trying to be selfish, wasn’t there like a player breathing down his back? Probably didn’t see Gionta…I mean what player doesn’t want another player, on the SAME team get a hat trick? Sorry, not buying the selfish thing
Oh, and congrats to your first game here, best building ever. Never Forget
“They say you can’t buy experience, and it’s really true.” -Carey Price
No Chuck, they are happy Price is playing great, and even though surprised, are all behind him, as he is the goalie for this team. They are disappointed he didn’t get the shutout, and hope he gets one every game.

Clay, to your response to me on the other page, that’s not the comment I was replying to, so I don’t see how it’s relevant. In fact it was posted after I posted my comment, so how could I possibly have taken it into account when I was writing my comment?
You called the goal weak, which it wasn’t, not even close. My response is that you were taking a shot, maybe I was wrong, but with how much you’ve ragged on Carey Price, many times for no reason, over the last season and a half, can you honestly blame anyone for assuming about your motives?
Come on Clay, my comment was in jest in the first place, so don’t be taking it to heart, but don’t give me back some trumped up BS about how everyone is so mean just because of the name of the post. I read your comment, I responded to THAT comment, end of story.
After they make the right calls, they stop doing that. Only in the NHL do the officials change their mind about how they call the game after 15 minutes into a game.
The replay of the shot from behind Pominville shows that he probably didn’t see it until the last moment, but when he’s stopping everything, he probably believes that he should have had it.
As enjoyable as this is, Ruff going ballistic is going to intimidate the refs, as always, and Buffalo won’t get another penalty all game, and we’ll get tons. Just watch.
Terrible period by Buffalo, easily 3-0 us if not for Miller. I hate when this happens, after a period like that the other team will always come out flying in the 2nd.
about the penalty on weber, it may not have been late, it may not have been hard, but it sure looked like a blatant attepmt to get the elbow to the face of cammy.
I’m guessin’ the guys were tryin’ to help Miller out by cleanin’ the snow out of his crease.
Ruff lookin’ pretty much like Ruff. He’s incensed enough to carry it over into the dressin’ room. Habs’ll need to bring it on that shortened PP at the outset of the 2nd.
Good jump in their step. Like the way they all instantly piled into Cammy’s melee, no onlookers.
Sean Courturier is “The French Guy” in the upcoming draft and this senile crank claims to know everything about the kids, right.
Besides, if EDM has that pick and any sense, they’ll build their blue line with Adam Larsson, which will doom the franchise in Chorra’s eyes since he’s *Gasp* Swedish.
I think Cherry messes up names on purpose..He said Theo Peckham about 3 times and then proceeded to call him Teddy Pecklin even after Ron corrects him twice. He does this every single time. Tomas Platonik.
Mr. Boone says totally dominate. Not for the first 5 minutes they weren’t, In fact they looked like they did in Atlanta last night. Only for the multiple penalties to the Sabres…….
Miller saved the Sabres this period.
Darche and Pyatt on break aways… well what do ya expect?
Something for you to do. Count the number of bone head plays the Habs make. They are numerous.
I know we scored on 5 on 3 but as we all know the PP sucks.
The Habs are about 3 players away from being a world class team.
D Alexei Yemelin of Ak Bars Kazan has been suspended after incurring two hitting to the head/neck area penalties over 3 games in the KHL, he’s got 41 penalty minutes from two of his last 3 games. Haven’t been able to track down the length of the suspension. Playing on the edge over there.
Another reason for the faster pace of play for tonight’s game could be the fact they are skating on actual ice instead of the mashed potatoes they were playing on in Atlanta.
I don’t know what happened but my PVR only had game until about 9 minutes left in the third. Hmm… So I missed all that “garbage time”. Anything worth watching or just some BS pushing and shoving?
Now, can Habs win their next game or at least play 3 solid periods, or will it be one of those “play one period coast two for free…” type of deal?
I was thinking Kaberle was told to ask Plekanec to join the team. Wouldn’t doubt Burke would try it. He tried negotiated with the Sedins while they were under contract.
You know, the instigator rule is just plain stupid. I mean who was the instigator? Moen for defending his teammate, or McCormick for the slash? If happened on the street, who would the police say started it?
was at my first game in over ten years tonight, glad they brought their A game and put on a great show, was alot of fun, wish i could be at the Bell Center every game night, maybe one day, GO HABS P:)
-”People have to really suffer before they can risk doing what they love.” Chuck Palahniuk
Just an observation, but this team lost all
consistency when Markov went down. That’s when the .500 hockey started.
The people who want to trade him should recognize that.
Can you not read? You seem somewhat intelligent to me, so you tell me. I think I wrote it quite clearly.
It’s time for you to lose the grudge you have against me. I am all behind Price, because he is the goalie for my team. Read all of my comments instead of being a reactionary.
I tell you and Andrew this, and show you the respect of a reply, because I can see you have sense. But as for Priceberg (the dawg), I give no respect, as he is just an ignorant fu_ktard. Doesn’t it bother you agreeing with that idiot?
__________________________
The only interesting answers are those which destroy the questions. ~Susan Sontag
Clay, I just don’t understand why you can’t man up about what you wrote. You criticized Carey’s technique on the goal, then when Andrew called you on it, you pretend like you didn’t even type the sentence in the first place and go into complete avoidance mode.
And no, it doesn’t bother me to agree with Priceberg about Carey. The name calling I could do without, but then again I see that you’re not above a bit of name-calling, either.
Four years at $1.5 million equals $6 million. Sorry I didn’t clarify it for you. By the way, thanks for calling me an idiot. Takes one to know one, eh?
There’s a major difference between saying a person is bad and saying that they did something bad. It’s one of the nuances of fine parenting.
I said you sounded idiotic, because the way you worded it it sounded like Moen makes 6 million a year. I never called you an idiot.
Now as far as Moen’s worth. I like it. Habs need grinders, those with rings are all the more valuable. I am firm believer in not rushing our youth either.
as usual, you and hh focus on the minutia and miss the point. you shouldn’t have to sign grinders as free agents. good management should (arguably, must) draft them in salary cap world. i know you won’t comment on the real story, you never do. much easier to find flaws in grammar, spelling and numbers than discuss thoughts.
You’re the one who misses the story, not to mention cannot spell minutiae correctly. You seem to think SF09 and I focus on details and to you these are trifling matters when they are in fact sound arguments which you choose to not refute. You do however sink to ad hominem arguments, as in this case, rather than debate ideas. Do you forget that the Habs let go 10 UFA’s and signed 7 new players? That means 3 extra roster spots were added from within the organization.
Moen was picked up because:
a) he has a Stanley Cup ring and Gainey wanted leadership in the room and on the ice and wanted players who knew what it takes to win 4 playoff rounds.
b) the Habs did not have enough depth to supply such grinders, yet. (does the name Schultz ring a bell)
c) the Habs goal is making the playoffs, and even though they’re in a rebuild it’s the type of rebuild that includes making the playoffs.
as usual, you focus on saying very little, refuting nothing and in essence offering no ideas other than management is to blame for whatever pet peeve you seem to be having at the moment.
Details matter as much as the big picture. You see neither.
So once a grinder becomes a ufa,he shouldn’t be able to find work since nobody should have to sign them? Do you really think more ahlers make the jump to the nhl then 3rd and 4th liners after july 1st with new teams? Not even close.
Moen is an example of what is wrong with the organization. There’s no way in hell a team should have to spend $6 million on a grinder, those players have to be drafted, not purchased on the free agent market. Timmins hasn’t been able to find those types of players in his tenure at all.
For anyone who doesn’t watch South Park, the above comment is cool. Its not what you might think it is. Do not be alarmed. If you start to feel a sense of panic, grab a papaer bag and breath heavily into it.
Really? I don’t think Dominic Hasek gets the credit he deserves. He was, without a doubt, the most dominating goaltender in the modern era of hockey. That 3 or 4 year span in the late 90′s was remarkable. He took a mediocre Buffalo team to the Stanley Cup finals. How mediocre? Their leading scorers throughout the playoffs were two defencemen; Jason Wooley and Alexei Zhitnik – both scoring 15 points in 21 games. Their top scoring forward? Curtis Brown with 13 points in 21 games.
Since Buffalo has never won a Stanley Cup, I think the guy that gave them the best chance deserves number 1.
Not to mention he won the Vezina trophy 6 times in an 8 year span. And the Hart trophy back to back.
Most surprising to me is no sign of Derek Roy. Obviously that franchise doesn’t understand what they have in him. He’s been their best skater since Briere left by a country mile, and he’s the only reason Vanek is still considered a top 6 forward after his near season long slumps.
Most dominant? No, that was Roy, but I would definitely put him #2, in front of Brodeur. I always liked the little guy and his fish out of water style, but the most dominant goalie, atleast when it mattered, was #33.
Mike – I hear what you’re saying but Perreault was the face of the franchise right from the beginning and is still the leader in all major scoring stats. He also played his whole career there (18 years).
I think if you polled the fans in Buffalo, most would go with Perreault.
In fact, they did. If you look again at the list, it supplies a ranking followed by a couple of stats (position, jersey number) and then the Fan Poll Rank.
For a commentator, he comes off as a little too cocky. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good to be cocky, you just don’t want to make people angry. Because… you know, we as fans aren’t going to hurt him, but somebody else might.
He simply stated what he thought was best for his development, and he was right. It wasn’t his fault that the media portrayed his words in a context that pointed to his usage by Martin last season. All Max is interested in is this season, and progression into a top six role. If anything, the comment showed that the kid knows where his challenge is at. Had Louis Leblanc said the same thing in that context, he’d be aplauded.
To be fair, MaxPac provided more than enough of the context on his own. The direct quotes clearly indicated he preferred Carbo’s coachin’ style to JM’s.
The issue isn’t whether he is right or wrong. The issue is whether or not a pro is doin’ himself any favours by makin’ comments in the media that may reflect badly, however mildly, on his ostensible NHL head coach, even at the hands of a wily sports pundit who saw a doe-eyed deer and turned on the headlights.
It was a rookie mistake and has obviously blown over, much as it was expected to.
Put another way, I can absolutely guarantee you that was the first and last time you’ll ever see him comment in the media like that.
True, but it’s the media that took this statement…
“I’ve never felt that’s the way to build me up as a player and that’s kinda why last year I felt as the season went on, I felt my confidence was down a bit and even got worse,” he said. “We’re gaining it all back right now. I was in the doghouse every time I made a mistake and that’s what got me sent down and turned my confidence to the negative side,” said Pacioretty. “When I was first called up with Carbo (Guy Carbonneau) as the coach, he gave me all the confidence in the world. Put me in situations to succeed and at times I did and if I didn’t he didn’t punish me. Regained my confidence by him telling me I’m playing well and he’d still give me a fair amount of minutes.”
Robert, Max had already made his bed long before any headlines hit the wire. The headlines were the inevitable fallout and, frankly, I would have been stunned if they hadn’t shown up. You and I both live in Montreal – at least I think you do - and know how even the most benign comments can be blown out of proportion.
My own initial reaction to MP was based on reading the quotes, not a headline. I could only shake my head and snicker a bit, you know, in that “ah, you goofy kid” kinda way.
On another note, the notion that PG or JM will hold this against MP – not somethin’ you’re suggestin’, but a notion that exists out there – ignores the fact that neither PG nor JM is a petulant child. They’re runnin’ a business and know exactly what went down and why.
Max’ll get his opportunities and, hopefully, run with them.
Detroit Red Wings forward Mike Modano has undergone surgery after suffering a laceration from a skate blade on his right wrist during a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. The veteran will be out of the lineup indefinitely depending on the progress of his recovery.
I’m just sayin’ Dion Ferry — or whatever his name is — doh, is actin’ pretty cocky and you just don’t do that wearin’ a flashy pink outfit and all. YOU GOTTA SHOW RESPECT KIDS. Don’t go shootin’ your trap off like that or somebody’s gonna give you a fat lip.
I think Cherry should show his face in Montreal at the rink one of these days instead of being in his little shell in Toronto. Come to the rink Don, let Habs fans greet you. Seriously. What’s a couple of beers on your head during your live segment worth?
If not for the incredible performances of Stamkos and St Louis, they would be in last place. That St. Louis is so fricken impressive. Stamkos too, but St. Louis. What a waste on that team.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Yahoos have been running around accusing Subban of sucker punching Bogosian yesterday when they were tied up and the gloves were off. Your gloves are off with another player, keep your guard up, I don’t like NHL fighting and I know that.
Don Cherry is a very wealthy man for one simple reason: he has perfected a public persona that he plays to perfection.
Those who mistake his successful entertainment shtick for the ral person — or, worse, who affect in preening self-superiority a belief that ‘he can’t be that smart in real life’ — well, check your bank account against his and see who’s the idiot…. (HINT: he makes millions from being sneered at by smug urban elites.)
Nobody is asking you to like him — but you are being expected to understand exactly what it is you are disliking….
I don’t respect people who play the fool for their own enrichment and ego. I understand he embellishes his shtick but I find it reprehensible, he favours himself an example and someone ‘the kids listen to’ and he spits out xenophobic venom, mocks protective visors and never admits a mistake.
On the other hand they WILL wake up tomorrow in 6th place with the 7th place team 2 points back with 2 games in hand… Including the fact they have 2 players in the top 5 in scoring and are still a -4….
The no goalie comments always make me laugh when we were upset PG couldn’t keep Ellis…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
You know I was kind of wondering what he meant as well. And then I figured that there’s no way he would have defended Myers over Subban, because of how, you know, Montreal owned his @ss for so many years.
He makes a lot more sense with the mute button on…….. .
A man’s attitude… a man’s attitude goes some ways. The way his life will be. Is that somethin’ you agree with?
What I don’t understand, is how Lindy Ruff has such power over the officials. Buffalo is being completely outplayed and they’re hooking and holding all over the place to slow the Habs down, but no calls since Ruff blew his wad.
we will have more bad games and we will be shutout a few more times this year…but the season is long and the key is to make the playoffs with no more major injuries…the goaltending has been great and so has the pk and overall d play…5 on 5 scoring has been way better than last year…now unless there is a trade or we get one of our forwards on the team or one of our ahl forwards scoring at an unexpected pace our scoring will not increase by much and we will be stuck in the 21-24 goal scoring range…the only way to increase our scoring is thru the pp…i hope i am wrong but the players (besides pk) we use on the point will not produce…if martin keeps putiing out basically our entire d on pp point duty by the end of the year we will have one of the worst pp in the nhl…pk is young and inexperienced but he is the only hope that our pp will get better…it is unbelievable how many pp faceoffs we loose in the attacking zone which usually results in the puck being cleared and we loose pp time…i know plecks has played well but he continues to be horrible at winning faceoffs in both the attacking zone and defensive zone(our pk has survived this)
It’s time to affix Gomez’ butt firmly to the bench or the pressbox. I cannot understand why he’s still getting so much ice, as the idea of giving him the time to work out of his slump is clearly an abject failure. A new approach that says, “Giving you a lot of ice-time to work out of your slump has failed. Time to try something else, namely, a whole lot LESS ice-time. Enjoy the bench, and if that doesn’t work, the press box.”
Good to see the 3 – 0 result so far, but this cannot excuse Gomez’ poor play and lack of production. Only a few other guys in the league who make as much and have done so little for the dough. Drury and Horcoff come to mind, as did Lecavalier before his injury. C’mon, Martin, do something radical before Gomez gets even more comfortable with his terrible results than he already seems to be–it’s all well to talk about wins being more important than personal success (as it is largely true), but I thought it came off almost, well, blase when Gomez said it the other day. As if he doesn’t care either way. Maybe I’m reading too much into it.
Regardless, it’s time he earned his money, or sat to make room for Halpern and others to get the job done. He can’t be bought out, not realistically, a trade is not gonna happen, and as rich as the team is, burying him like Finger or Redden is just too damn costly. Sitting him and hoping that it works might be the only option we still have here.
Benching Gomez is all fine and dandy but who are you going to get to centre the 2nd line? JM won’t let Eller do it so that leaves Halpern and Laps really. Neither one should be centring the 2nd line. I don’t think Gomez needs to be reminded that he’s not playing well.
Let’s see…14-8-1, 1st in the division, 3rd in the conference, 5th in the league. Yep, certainly seems like the time to panic.
Reviewing the comments from last night and this morning gave me a good chuckle. We have every possible thoery being put forth including, but not limited to; trouble in the room due to internal strife, MAB being touted as our PP saviour, our backup tender is a sieve, it was all Gill’s fault and such perennial favorites as Gomez sucks, we’re too small and the answer to everything is NAG.
Then again, that’s why this interweb thingy was invented. It allows anyone, anywhere at any time to put forth any type of crackpot theories or musings rumbling around in your head or whispered to you by that damn closet monkey. Personally I close my closet door and don’t let the idiot out too often and when he does speak to me I never repeat his advice. Well, not always but rarely, ya know?
I have no theories to bring forth at this time. Just support for the team.
Hockey Inside/Out encourages lively debate, but there is a zero-tolerance policy regarding racism, profanity and behaviour that we deem to be offensive.
We will, without warning, ban those who do not abide by this simple rule, so as to maximize the enjoyment of readers and participants of both sexes and all ages.
Very sneaky strategy by Laps to give us some momentum via the PK.
PK nails Kaleta good!
good hustle by Pyatt,Miller’s vezina was not a fluke the guy is good
Pyatt can’t buy it!!!!!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
GO HABS GO!
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Dammit how do we deserve Bob Cole ?!?
Who gets to be Spider-Man though? Pleks?
national anthems boring tradition i wish they would take em out i wanna watch hockey not some random display of patriotism
Hope the good Habs show up tonight and not the evil twin.
After reading last nights comments I am glad that:
a) I went to a poker game last night, barely watched the game and certainly didn’t participate in the HIO commentary mental breakdown
b) I came home 100$ richer
Its the goblin ears, tell spiderman to run
Do we? Will he?
Stay tuned…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Who the *** is Mitch Peacock, and why does he look like Willem Dafoe.
Friedman asked him about Kaberle asking him to come to Toronto as a free agent, but Pleks said his heart was always in Montreal. Maybe this summer, Pleks can get Kaberle to come to Montreal.
We all know Gomez is not this bad, I think he will have a good performance tonight.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
damn I just missed it..hope it gets put up on youtube or something
I never heard of him until you said so, but he sure looked the type last nite in his burraaaw with PK. THanks for the update.
Really liked it. Screw Kaberle, Pleks is ours
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Man, I love Pleks. He’s such a down to earth guy. What a leader
“They say you can’t buy experience, and it’s really true.” -Carey Price
Bogosian is not a goon.
Right on buddy.
Hey Ian,Another is Yankee Stadium # 1 for being the center of the universe. I saw Derek Jeter and A-Rod and they clobbered Boston in a doubleheader. What a blast.
Well since Carey’s making him look like a senile fool he has to hang on to something.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Feature on Plecks coming up on CBC
Grapes is gonna bring it up though because he bad-mouthed PK last week. And this will make him feel justified. And Cherry loves feeling justified.
That Ron Wilson comment is classic.
I saw this up, so I posted this up top, before I saw it here.
24 Cups—Yes the forum was all of that. For me, it was the only place.
It was the center of my home province and yes my country. It was the
center of the universe, even mentioning the name, FORUM,brings goose
bumps.
You are right there, Gary!!
I remember going there for rock concerts, and it still felt like hockey. The Bell centre is a corporation’s dream, but the Forum was a hockey nest.
Oh he’ll likely get on it, you’d swear PK pulled a knife on the guy with some of the venom I’ve read since last night. Gloves are off, keep your guard up!
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
24 Cups—Yes the forum was all of that. For me, it was the only place. It was the center of my home province and yes my country. It was the center of the universe, even mentioning the name, FORUM,brings goose bumps.
BP had his shot for 4-5 games to start the season
he wasn’t great, but gomez and gionta weren’t shining lights either
maybe reunite them? I don’t know…
I’d like to see BP or eller play with pleks and AK
putting the little 3 back together.
- Gomez is holding down the suck button
I’m not that big of a stamkos fan
He’s not overly physical, or defensively aware…I would pick crosby and ovechkin before stamkos…but stammer would prob be in the top 3 or 4 depending on malkin
I think what stamkos benefits the most is that he has veterans like st-louis and lecavalier to help him out
especially lecavalier who was a former first overall as well
- Gomez is holding down the suck button
Referring to Mike Boone’s Over/Under re Coaches Corner on Luke Schenn’s fight. How about O/U re Cherry on PK’s supposedly late sucker punch last nite vs. Atlanta’s goon guy? In fact, the Atlanta broadcasters were comparing it to Avery’s cheapshot on the Edmonton guy a week or two ago.
Crosby is just on another level right now. And as much I love Stamkos, he doesn’t have a Marty St-Louis playing on his wing.
i agree its been tried and its proven not to work time to move on
As much as i like the guy,18 moens would be hard pressed to win 30 ahl games.
Crosby scrores 3 in a 4-1 win against the flames. The oven gets turned up another notch on sutters.
kaleta
It would be the same if the Habs were to Miller, then what? Besides, we do have the home advantage. When is the last time Habs lost on home ice? …oh, nevermind… let just win!
How did we outscore Philly 5-3 between 2 games, and manage to beat Boston and Vancouver?
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Time for the LITMUS TEST: Is BUFF fast? yes…. are they dirty goons? no….
Result: Habs have a very high probability of winning tonight…. yes its that simple.
1:The N.A.G. (North American Grit) Youth Movement will bring us respect. 2: Give me 18 MOENS and I’ll give you the Stanley Cup. 3. ..call up WHITE/SHULTZ/PAX now.

While the Riders are weight training and Banged up Barrin simpson and other lineman practice cold ice bath therapy coupled with warm jacuzzi therapy,
The allouettes have nothing. Literally speaking!! not even a meeting room to fit the Team!
Brian Chiu said yesterday, how much Football players are creatures of Habit, and the CFL dropped the ball.
Unfair advantage rules are guarded against in all sports, except the CLF We guess.
As Cohon slaps himself on the back, and the CFL goes out of their way to accomodate and make life grand for the Riders,,,
I say not too quick Cohon still alot of work to be done,
Let’s start with the blatantly rotten, BORDERING heavily on corrupt CFL officiating.
Carey Price gets a shut out! and yeah still upset about yesterday’s habs game, abandonniong of Auld,
“And then there was the Montreal Forum, which felt like the home of the Stanley Cup, and was our overwhelming Hodgemail winner.
Well, that wasn’t even close. Rouge et Or romp to victory.
Gotta stop lettin’ the guys at Team 990 fill my head with possibilities.
Why I hate MTL’s road trips through the sunbelt, OHL teams have better ice than they do.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Habs looked like they played their game in a packed shopping mall!
I have to give a nod to Tom Nickle, who last season pointed out what a good GM Rick Dudley would be for whoever signed him. Very astute signings over thesummer. Atlanta is not done improving.
From TSN, our projected lines for tonight:
Kostitsyn – Plekanec – Gionta
Cammalleri – Gomez – Moen
Pyatt – Halpern – Lapierre
Pouliot – Eller – Darche
JM, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, END THE MOEN-ON-A-SCORING-LINE EXPERIMENT!
Personally, I think Benny and Eller should be getting more ice time, they compete and forecheck like nobody’s business. I don’t know why Benny isn’t playing a top-six role — he is a scorer, not a checker. He played well with Gomez and Gio last season. I think Benny’s stock slipped big time in the playoffs, when JM took him off the top six and has kept it that way since.
I did something less frustrating and did some shopping in a packed mall . Nearly got me knee taken out by someone pushing her kids stroller.
But like atraffic accident, I watched the replay on GameCenter…I want my two hours back!

Great shift. Why isn’t Pouliot on the PP again? He’s looked amazing lately.
That was a great sequence. Not happy that they took a penalty, though. Might hurt our mo.

Feels like Subban is on track for 30+ minutes tonight
What was up with that officiating? There were two clear penalties on that shift that they refused to call.
Can’t give em another call I guess…
I don’t think PK was “embellishing”…..just looked like he tripped up on his own

Love Darche going to the dirty areas in front of the net on the PP.
Would love to hear what Capt Kirk was saying to PK

He got dimed(10 minute misconduct).
Also got an instigator.
Much respect, good choice.
He’s earned it with a full quarter season of great play. Not even one stinker in all his games. Nice to see the fans appreciate it.

RDS announcer said blanchissage/blanchissement literally seconds before the shot went in… =\
Then had to kind of chuckle nervously as he realized what had happened.
Thats efin great

Nice rush by PK up front. He didn’t get back to cover his man and the Sabres nearly scored. Lucky the Price was right in that situation from the view here in the peanut gallery…
Stars (order depends on the finish) Price, Gio, Miller
my goodness. Gerbe virtually sprints in at almost full speed, winds up above his head and rips it amid a massive scramble, and we’re all like ‘aw crap, that’s going in for sure’. But no. Price has it.

Just got in from a day of hellish shopping and a very average dinner. Xmas is so full of unrealised expectations. Then I turn on the game and…3-0!!! So, what’d I miss in 10 words or less?
Clay, no one would blame you if you loved him more than as a player. He’s that good.
…in a manly kind of, high five, way…
Both Pyatt and Subban need to practise shooting the net at least one hour per day.
Eller is 8 and 0 in the faceoff circle. If that isn’t enough to get him some of Gomez’ ice time, I don’t know what is.
An excellent bounceback in all aspects of the game.

Miller is good

Solid win and good all-around effort. Good to see Doctor Jekyll came out to play tonight. Time to crack open the Mexican Victory liquor.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
I haven’t heard Bob Cole so happy for a goal in years.
Hey Boone. I believe if a Penalty shot would be awarded against a team with an empty net the attacking team gets an awarded goal with under 1 or 2 minutes to play.
the jinx was CBC showing how many minutes since the last goal Carey allowed. At least it gives Bob Cole something to smile about.
Haha. And wasn’t it JM who made that deal?
was hopin for a shutout before launching the new avatar, but had to be done anyway, our man price damn well deserves it.
If only AK had not iced the puck and if only we could have won that faceoff… Oh well. It was a good win anyways.
We should have been given a goal on that trip on Pyatt on the open net though…

Awesome. The Village Idiot in the Liberace Pink jacket craps on Subban in the post game Lobotomy Night In Toronto summary.
A lot of people blaming Cole for the jinx, but Pierre Houde blabbed the S word about six seconds before the goal. Horrific timing.
Bah. At least there are worse things to be disappointed about than Price not nailin’ a well-deserved shutty.
Two convincin’ points in the bag after a rough outin’ last night.
Yeah, if I were a -9 Myers, I’d probably try to take liberties with a +6 PK. Badge of honour for Soobs to get the Calder Trophy winner’s attention.
Eller got 11:59 of ice tonight with some PK time. 8-for-8 in face-offs.
Benny isstruggling againbut does he ever posses some sweet hands
and a couple good hits to boot…
So basically, Subban has to stand around and wait for people to run him over and not do anything about it?

What stupid thing did Don Cherry say this time about PK? I missed it.
I see Cherry after Subban again. Man is someone going to step in and stop this guys campaign to destroy a fine young talent.
Cherry needs to back up his crap about PK. He keeps saying players hate PK but why? Give us an example of the so called trash talk that he says.
Great game by the boys..forget the jinx stuff, if we win that faceoff Priceberg gets the shutout.
Yeah, something like that.

NICE pic.
Go Habs!
Cherry on PKs’ case again, says everyone in the league dislikes him
Hey guys, 3 stars please?

Twice now, Carey Price has outdueled the man considered the best goalie in the world last season and with a heavier workload on him. He’s the best in the NHL right now and that’s all there is to it.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
When they’re not playing stupid like they did last year or they did vs. Atlanta, this is a pretty good team.
Whatever.
open letter to Bon Fairy, or what ever your name is:

Those who said Price was a bust, or washed up…. What do you think of your comments now?
I gotta say, HOW HAPPY ARE WE THAT BOB PICKED HIM UP?
Now if we can figure out how to get some production out of Gomez, we will be doing great. Maybe we put Weber in his place and put Gomer on Defense….
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
5th. But I hear ya.
They’ve been reduced to picking apart last-minute, meaningless goals.
When it rains, it pours: Habs miss flight
I honestly do not think Pyatt was trying to be selfish, wasn’t there like a player breathing down his back? Probably didn’t see Gionta…I mean what player doesn’t want another player, on the SAME team get a hat trick? Sorry, not buying the selfish thing
Oh, and congrats to your first game here, best building ever. Never Forget

Does Cherry actually think many people like him .

- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Much better effort so far, just keep it up for 60 minutes please Habs.
Here we go!
Cammy snaps!!
followed by Ruff snapping
- In Price We Trust
The replay of the shot from behind Pominville shows that he probably didn’t see it until the last moment, but when he’s stopping everything, he probably believes that he should have had it.
When it rains, it pours: Habs miss flight
Habs a little… They need to mob them en masse haha.
Now Lindy’s bitching to the ref. PP Habs!
Nothing worse than seeing the Habs miss that open net.
Well that and seeing PK still waste all his time on those wind-ups but get no accuracy or height on the shot.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
As enjoyable as this is, Ruff going ballistic is going to intimidate the refs, as always, and Buffalo won’t get another penalty all game, and we’ll get tons. Just watch.
Hopefully the refs show some stones, tired of that whining jackass getting all these calls go his way because he cries like Sidney.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Terrible period by Buffalo, easily 3-0 us if not for Miller. I hate when this happens, after a period like that the other team will always come out flying in the 2nd.
Miller is still killer. But the Habs brought their A team out tonight.
AK should have popped that one in though; and the other one off the rebound before he scored. He could have three goals by now…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
about the penalty on weber, it may not have been late, it may not have been hard, but it sure looked like a blatant attepmt to get the elbow to the face of cammy.
ron sherry is an idiot.
“There’s Bob Boughner, he’ll be in the NHL pretty soon”
Um….I think the Blue Jackets are already there, Donny…..
They took the team from last night out back and had them shot. Replaced with robot clones
I didn’t catch the beginning of Ramblin’ on with Don…did he call out Kadri for diving and embellishing three penalties last night against Buffalo?
I’m guessin’ the guys were tryin’ to help Miller out by cleanin’ the snow out of his crease.
Ruff lookin’ pretty much like Ruff. He’s incensed enough to carry it over into the dressin’ room. Habs’ll need to bring it on that shortened PP at the outset of the 2nd.
Good jump in their step. Like the way they all instantly piled into Cammy’s melee, no onlookers.
Miller’s definitely got his game back.
Jekyll and Habs over here.
Dan Chorra sure does talk a lot.
“There’s Bob Boughner, he’ll be in the NHL one day.”
Uhhh, Don…he’s the assistant in Columbus. That’s not the NHL?
What a clown.
Dan Chorra: “You have a jerk do something like that, not Pronger” HUH?!? Synonyms, not antonyms.
Right Cherry, I guess Sutter listens to bafoons now,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
I am in stitches here……”Teddy Peckman!”
I switched to CBC and the picture tube blew up and pink smoke filled the room.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Which Pronger was Dean Charney talkin’ about?
Sean Courturier is “The French Guy” in the upcoming draft and this senile crank claims to know everything about the kids, right.
Besides, if EDM has that pick and any sense, they’ll build their blue line with Adam Larsson, which will doom the franchise in Chorra’s eyes since he’s *Gasp* Swedish.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Cherry … a total moron
Is this Hockey Night in Canada or the home shopping network?
Pathetic Mclean touting for Cherry!
“The three stars as selected by Red Fisher of the Montreal Star:

Dion Cheezy said a bunch of huffy puffy stuff and tried to sell a book.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Prospect Note:
D Alexei Yemelin of Ak Bars Kazan has been suspended after incurring two hitting to the head/neck area penalties over 3 games in the KHL, he’s got 41 penalty minutes from two of his last 3 games. Haven’t been able to track down the length of the suspension. Playing on the edge over there.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
You too?!
When it rains, it pours: Habs miss flight
I wish we could trade at the draft to get Couturier.
The KHL head check rule alone might be enough to get him over here. His style of play is much more suited to the NHL than europe.
I’d like to see Gionta and Gerbe mix it up…..super featherweight division
Another reason for the faster pace of play for tonight’s game could be the fact they are skating on actual ice instead of the mashed potatoes they were playing on in Atlanta.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
The post was all he had to shoot at. Price had everything else covered.
Darche has been really great tonight
That was a ruff call.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
He said Theo Peckman instead of Peckham.
how scary was that pk for gorges?
I see what you did there
skating on actual ice instead of the mashed potatoes they were playing on in Atlanta.
Great analogy.
I hate when that happens! My PVR seems to “forget” its programming settings, occasionally (and inexplicably).
All of Eller’s shifts were worth watching. Too bad you missed a few, Timo.
if carey’s really ‘touching it up’ with a sharpie marker, maybe someone can draw one in.
Plekanec mentioned on CBC that his fellow countryman Tomas Kaberle tried to persuade him to come play in Toront this off-season.
Considering that Plekanec never went past July 1st, isn’t that illegal on Toronto’s part?
I don’t know what happened but my PVR only had game until about 9 minutes left in the third. Hmm… So I missed all that “garbage time”. Anything worth watching or just some BS pushing and shoving?
Now, can Habs win their next game or at least play 3 solid periods, or will it be one of those “play one period coast two for free…” type of deal?
Two guys sharing a beer in Czech Republic during the off-season, and one mentioning to the other that he should consider joining his team?
Jeez, I hope not.
Maybe Plekanec can get Kaberle to sign with the Habs next season.
As I stated on the other thread, the Habs only two consecutive losses were when he came back.
Healthy. Yes. Prone to another injury. That’s a major gamble.
I was expressing disappointment that he lost the shut-out, NOT criticizing.

So you’re telling me that you DIDN’T criticize him for the goal?
When it rains, it pours: Habs miss flight
When it rains, it pours: Habs miss flight
Kind of like how you avoided what I wrote, eh Chuck?
I have been extremly vocal with praise for Price all season, but one little thing, and it sends the Pricebunnies into attack mode.
Let me make it clear to you…
Yes, I think he should have stayed up on that goal. If he had, he would have gotten a shutout.
No, it is not criticism. It is disappointment, as I was so hoping he would get it.
Are we clear?

And the Ruff effect has taken over. Totally legal check.
Dumb penalty by Benny. He didn’t score, got frustrated. Martin will be unhappy.
He also gave people a quick lip reading lesson too, something along the lines of “Fudge Me”.
What a goalie duel, I like it.
MILLER
Um…. the slash? Not going to call it?
With Andrei passing like that, I really wish Martin would reunite the AKos-Pleks-Cammalleri line. Sigh.
/\\ike
GO HABS GO!
And yet another ruff call…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Miller is on tonight
So how exactly did McCormick not get called for the slash? Lindy Ruff.
It’s an embarassment to the league that Mr. Whine can shift the officating in his favour.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Does this guy really have that kind of power??
Wow. classic reffing

- Gomez is holding down the suck button
It’s from this episode.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Four years at $1.5 million equals $6 million. Sorry I didn’t clarify it for you. By the way, thanks for calling me an idiot. Takes one to know one, eh?
Well except Moen is on a 3-year contract and not a 4-year deal, explanation and checking the facts helps avoid making you sound foolish you know.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Moen has a three-year deal = $4.5 million.
You were saying?
___________________________________________
Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!
I am firm believer in not rushing our youth either.
as usual, you and hh focus on the minutia and miss the point. you shouldn’t have to sign grinders as free agents. good management should (arguably, must) draft them in salary cap world. i know you won’t comment on the real story, you never do. much easier to find flaws in grammar, spelling and numbers than discuss thoughts.
man up or get out.
take a cold hard look in the mirror with that comment
HP proposes we clone Moen 18 times.
“a person who annoys you”
N ___ G G E R
- Gomez is holding down the suck button
Moen is an example of what is wrong with the organization. There’s no way in hell a team should have to spend $6 million on a grinder, those players have to be drafted, not purchased on the free agent market. Timmins hasn’t been able to find those types of players in his tenure at all.
Moen’s cap hit is 1.5 million per year. Do a little research before you post something so as to not sound too idiotic.
For anyone who doesn’t watch South Park, the above comment is cool. Its not what you might think it is. Do not be alarmed. If you start to feel a sense of panic, grab a papaer bag and breath heavily into it.
Everything will be okay.

There you go again with the name-calling, Clay.
When it rains, it pours: Habs miss flight
The Sabres celebrate their 40th anniversary with a walk down memory lane.
As well, the top 40 Sabres of all time. #1 is a bit of a surprise.
Click here for latest info update on Buffalo.
True. And I’m also baffled by #6.
When it rains, it pours: Habs miss flight
Most dominant? No, that was Roy, but I would definitely put him #2, in front of Brodeur. I always liked the little guy and his fish out of water style, but the most dominant goalie, atleast when it mattered, was #33.
Mike – I hear what you’re saying but Perreault was the face of the franchise right from the beginning and is still the leader in all major scoring stats. He also played his whole career there (18 years).
I think if you polled the fans in Buffalo, most would go with Perreault.
Agreed. If the question had been put to me, I would have guessed Perreault.
Perhaps it’s the elephant in the room factorin’ in. In that vein, have to wonder how Marcel Dionne would place on an L.A. Kings Top 40 list.
In fact, they did. If you look again at the list, it supplies a ranking followed by a couple of stats (position, jersey number) and then the Fan Poll Rank.
In that, Perreault in #1 and Hasek is #2.
He’s earned it with a full quarter season of
great play. Not even one stinker in all his games. Nice to see the fans
appreciate it.”

This is exactly the kind of crap I was alluding to the other day. People don’t even look at the comment on this site, just the name.

For a commentator, he comes off as a little too cocky. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good to be cocky, you just don’t want to make people angry. Because… you know, we as fans aren’t going to hurt him, but somebody else might.
he was just a little frustrated because hrudey got out from under the desk without, um, ‘finishing’
He said nothing wrong.
Max is damaged goods after talking to the press recently. It’ll take a miracle for him to be called up. Like maybe 3 hatricks in a row – minimum.

Had the right intentions career-wise, but made the naive mistake of talking about it to the Montreal media. Call it a lesson learned for him
___________________________________________
Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!
…and made it into this headline…
http://www.ruefrontenac.com/sports/canadiens/29827-de-foy-pacioretty-bougonneRobert, Max had already made his bed long before any headlines hit the wire.
That’s unfair to shitheads.
Thats exactly what i was thinking.

Good grief! On Don Cherry, I’ve just realised that (some) people here are actually unsure whether he mispronuniciates players’ names on purpose!
You need to watch this classic Saturday Night Live Skit with the late great Phil Hartman, doing Ronald Reagan.
Anyone in a mood for good chuckle?

They want Wilson outta T.O.
What’s their problem? GM? Coach? Lack of top 6 forwards? D? Goalie?…Well…it’s the Leafs.
Fact: moen is the best fighter to EVER appear on Corner Gas
Price fought off the predictable early flurry.
Then Miller mentally committed to AK. Boom! Subsequently was handcuffed by Gio’s corker. Bang!
Not sure Ruff’s got anythin’ left in the can for his team this intermission; he blew his load after the first.
Sens also takin’ the Loafs out behind the woodshed. Rough night for Dan Chorizo.
More like expertise!

habs played last night.
“2P 20:00: Can they play 40 more minutes like that?”
I’d settle for 20 minutes.
When it rains, it pours: Habs miss flight
Habs remind me of Jekly and Hide you never what your going to get. Maybe a box of chocolates is a better
Not really Habguy,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Excellent
I would luv to see this panel talk about Brian Burke’s son . Like last nite’s 5th Estate thing.
woosh….
I don’t respect people who play the fool for their own enrichment and ego. I understand he embellishes his shtick but I find it reprehensible, he favours himself an example and someone ‘the kids listen to’ and he spits out xenophobic venom, mocks protective visors and never admits a mistake.

WOOSH! Right over your head, habguy!

HNIC has become Comedy Cafe?
I never knew and innocently believed it was a live sports program.
Whats next for Cherry 6 weeks a year in Vegas?

According to the nhl.com game summary, moen got 2,5, and 10, while mccormick only got two. That can’t be right, can it?
http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20102011/GS020336.HTM
20 more minutes of outchancing the Sabres please.
C’mon, look how well that’s worked out for the leafs

Moen got the instigator for coming in late, to help Cammalleri.
You can always spot a phony
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
It says Moen got 2 and 10, not 5. But the game misconduct doesn’t make sense…
2 minutes for fighting?
When it rains, it pours: Habs miss flight
The puck is bouncing like a freekin basketball.
Moen got 2, 5 and 10
Mc Cormick got 2 and 5.
I think the Refs were trying yo even it out. Doesnt seem unfair to me in the end.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
I see all 3 penalties on there.
ONLY ONE BETTER THAN MILLER. CAREY
Horrible pass by Pyatt. That is why it’s not 4-0 right now.
Some REALLY good hockey being played here by your Canadiens.

Where’d you go, guys?
Whats the matter Boone, you don’t like Carey’s “Stache”. I guess Carey’s not overly superstitious
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Pricey is not allowed to shave “The Stache”.
skipper=captain=gionta.
i guess so… in the mob.
I was a bit lost on that as well,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Boone asked him and Carey said its gone Dec 1st
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
No. We have to speak out in support of our moustachioed masked man.
I whole heartedly agree, Im very superstitious so , He should definitely keep it
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Movement to maintain Price’s ‘mo gains momentum…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Who was the moustachioed masked man!?
It’s Morro!
Derek Roy came to mind, last night, albeit for an altogether different reason.
I think it was just around the time Peverley popped his 2nd of the night.
Thought both of them deserved to wear a little HK patch on their shoulder. Badge of honour.
Peverley drives me nuts because he’s not that good, yet he manages to screw us every time.
Waiver pickup or not, he’s a Hab Killer (HK).
Right up there with the two Martys, D. Roy, and, argh, the unforgivin’ tandem of P. Stastny and Goulet.
The list goes on.
Giroux seems to be working his way up into HK range as well.
Before last season, I thought Spezza and Kessel were by far the worst HKs in the league……lately, not so much
Don’t forget Alfie?
On the other hand they WILL wake up tomorrow in 6th place with the 7th place team 2 points back with 2 games in hand… Including the fact they have 2 players in the top 5 in scoring and are still a -4….
The no goalie comments always make me laugh when we were upset PG couldn’t keep Ellis…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Yeah, it’s silly, he’s got a % 895.
So Cherry says that everyone hates PK Subban?
How many Habs fan are there in Montreal? A few hundred thousand? Cause I’m sure they all like PK Subban.
How about the Canadiens team itself? Approximately 22 players? Cause I’m sure they like Subban as well.
The people at NIKE apparently are fans of him, judging by the ads.
Anyone else?
A few hundred thousand?????? Try OVER a million.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
I think he was talking about Meyers not Subban.
Drive For 25 Is Alive!
Cherry is always right. And he is the expert on hate. Case closed.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
The loudest cheers went to Subban and Price tonight…Cherry can shut it

Uh, no.
I will admit, calling up Max to compete for a spot is something I’ve been thinking about for a while now.
What I don’t understand, is how Lindy Ruff has such power over the officials. Buffalo is being completely outplayed and they’re hooking and holding all over the place to slow the Habs down, but no calls since Ruff blew his wad.
Price’s moustache is now as much a part of his equipment as his stick, glove and blocker are.
DO NOT SHAVE IT OFF CAREY!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Even though he says he’s not superstitious, it’ll be interesting to see if he keeps it next week.

couple of years(maybe next year even) from now eller-max pac could be very explosif
.::DON’T MESS WITH THE MOENATOR!::.
I love games that have more than three stars.
did anyone notice pouliots passing skills
.::DON’T MESS WITH THE MOENATOR!::.
we will have more bad games and we will be shutout a few more times this year…but the season is long and the key is to make the playoffs with no more major injuries…the goaltending has been great and so has the pk and overall d play…5 on 5 scoring has been way better than last year…now unless there is a trade or we get one of our forwards on the team or one of our ahl forwards scoring at an unexpected pace our scoring will not increase by much and we will be stuck in the 21-24 goal scoring range…the only way to increase our scoring is thru the pp…i hope i am wrong but the players (besides pk) we use on the point will not produce…if martin keeps putiing out basically our entire d on pp point duty by the end of the year we will have one of the worst pp in the nhl…pk is young and inexperienced but he is the only hope that our pp will get better…it is unbelievable how many pp faceoffs we loose in the attacking zone which usually results in the puck being cleared and we loose pp time…i know plecks has played well but he continues to be horrible at winning faceoffs in both the attacking zone and defensive zone(our pk has survived this)
It’s time to affix Gomez’ butt firmly to the bench or the pressbox.
Habs rule, leafs drool. Cammalleri rocks

One theory only still prevails…

Man, Subban’s a treat to watch.
Ah the halcyon days of the Halak/Price debate. No longer can we make these kinds of jokes.
What’s the difference between a poutine and a poutinette?
A poutine is french fries with cheese and sauce.
A put-in-net is the franchise with an easy shot.
Rim shot please.

Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
lovin’ pouliot and eller duo tonight
.::DON’T MESS WITH THE MOENATOR!::.
Nice save, must have been getting bored in there too
Subban is just amazing to watch. Habs Superstar in the making.
Doubt he will, considering how itchy he says it is.
When it rains, it pours: Habs miss flight
eller – pleks – AK
cammy – gomez – gionta
those are my only suggestions…other than 17 moens and gomez
- Gomez is holding down the suck buttons
Great start
Not many players who deserve a thundering body check more than Kaleta. Love it.
Very nice forecheck
Subban thumping Kaleta, worth the price of admission for all attending I’d say.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
You can already tell Miller is going to be a pain tonight
Anyone else getting a kick out of Pierre calling the Sabres “les Saaabres”, and referring to Derek Roy as “Roi”?
Passing is off tonight.
2 great goalies a fluke could win this one
Thanks Bob for repeating what Garry just said almost word-for-word….
(sorry, can’t help it)
Why would he argue that penalty? Interference doesn’t get much more obvious than that.
