Thank you Boone. You are a good man for sacrificing your ego in the name of the greater good.

Check out http://www.HabsRadio.com for a fresh take on all things Habs. Blogs, Discussions, and of course, the Podcast!
The furniture will be there tomorrow. NOTHING will stop me from this game tonight! I am in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and nothing shorter than a full evacuation on the rig will stop me!
Not to toot my own horn (well, ok… maybe just a little) but I remember some longtime HI/O poster writing about a scenario, after the Habs were down 3-1, which would see them going for broke in game 7.

Cheer for the crest on the front of the jersey, not the name on the back.
I gotta say, this series reminds me a lot of the Habs/Bruins in 2008… With the 2008 Bruins reminding me a lot of 2010 Habs (similar coach, played a similar series in terms of falling behind 3-1 and battling back with two stella defensive efforts) and the 2008 Habs as the Caps (except the 2010 Caps are lot better than the 2008 Habs…) Home ice means a lot in Game 7, however the Habs have won more games in Washington this series than the Caps… can’t wait.
I’m so distraught. My dad who is helping me move announced that tonight will be part 1 of a 2 part move.
TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GAME 7!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve watched 79 games this year, attended 2 (I’m 1-1) and have waited for the playoffs like a 5 year old waiting for Santa. When it was 3-1 Caps… I believed it was a 7 game series for a reason and the Habs COULD come back.. I watch Monday and I swear I almost cried
ALL THIS TO HAVE TO MOVE TONIGHT.
FML FML FML FML FML FML
Sorry. This is the only forum with Habs fans as passionate as I am who could understand the dismay I am feeling right now. To boot I am getting the flu. So I have to move on Game 7 of an amazing series with the flu. Oh, and I was planning on packing during the game so I am not even packed.
I can’t believe I am going to miss this game! HABS BETTER WIN !!!! My season of hockey watching can’t end like this! ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
Don’t want to hear anything negative today!!!! I have been telling all the rest that “we have em’ right where we want em’” since we were down 3 – 1.
Come on second round. Tickets to Montreal from Newfoundland would be a pleasure to purchase!!!! I am so proud of the way these guys have been playing. All heart and leaving nothing behind. Prediction: Theodore will be in net by 5:00 into the second!
Watson was there in Game 1… wasn’t overly pleased with the reffing there but compared to Game 2 and O’Halloran (the Knuble owns Halak’s crease game), I guess Game 1 wasn’t so bad. They haven’t been awful to us in the regular season, but O’halloran definitely owes us for Game 2 – if it weren’t for him, we’d have won the series already.
Holy crap. Since we went down 3-1, I have been saying this to my family and friends, and posted the EXACT same thing a few days ago in one of these blogs.
Love knowing someone else is thinking like me! Makes me feel, well…NOT crazy.
Ill start by syaing I am not a big fan of the foil cup myself lol. but what are you going to do.
We ended a 6 game losing streak at home in the p-offs and we beat the #1 team in the NHL. Our goalie played like a hero and so did the rest of the team. That was a monumental win for the Habs and the fans have every right to dance and scream in the street all night long. There is no argument.
Considering that he is making fun of Habs fans by saying they are acting like Leafs fans is rather poignant and true. All the pro-Leafs networks know of the Leafs fans short-comings and Habs fans know them too…it is NOT ok to act like those we belittle. We should have standards unlike Leafs fans.
So I was wondering how trading their Captain has affected this team. Instead of looking at how they have done without him, I looked at how Columbus has done with Chris Clark. Since Clark they have 18 wins and 8 OT in 43 games, losing only 16. In the time Clark has joined Columbus, they shout out San Jose, Dallas, Detroit and Buffalo. They lost 8 of the 16 by only 1 goal. The plus minus is -19 since he has been on the team and a Minus 24 before he came to the team.
Chimera who came to Washington has played 29 games with both teams this season and has 17 points for each team.
Based on this, if Clark had been with the team the whole season, they MAY have ended up with 88-90 points. Tied with Calgary for 9th.
IF IF IF I know… But I am looking at how losing the leader of this team has affected them. In the regular season, it seems not at all. HOWEVER, ask yourself what if they had kept their Captain???? Would they have had this much trouble in the playoffs?
Remember, Ovechkin is now leading this team not only with his points, but as Captain too. They have other leaders in the dressing room. But now that OVIE is the Captain, does it affect him? When he hears Mike Knuble give out advice and such, does he wonder ‘hey thats my job’…
I like the moves Washington has done in the last 2 seasons. But trading your Captain??? I dont know. Trading Jurcina and then taking him back??????
I mean how does a team that only loses 15 games during the year and out scores their opponent by a total of 101 goals for the season end up in game 7? I mean they were a +85 for the season and we were -6….
NOT THINKING AT ALL ABOUT HOW WE ARE PLAYING OR OUR SEASON. Just simply looking at it from their point of view……….
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
I saw OTR yesterday…who cares what A Loafs network thinks, they didnt even make the playoffs. Of course they are going to try and put down Habs fans. They are a joke.
i’m praying they’ve forgotten about the game tonight (how someone could forget.. I dunno) because my dad watched the Pens and Hawks game last weekend when I was over and quite frankly Habs are def priority.
Whether they win or lose I know it will be a good game and Habs will fight for it.. so for all those damn games I watched all season long where I was wondering wtf was wrong with the team.. THIS MAKES UP FOR IT ALL.
Downer coming….people say win or lose, we should be proud of the team…IF they lose, we should not be proud of the team becaue they lost the series and were eliminated, we should never be happy about that whether or not the team was given a chance by the pundits. The game is not played by the fans nor the pundits…only the players can decide if they are good or not.
If they win and move on, we should be happy…but we should not be ecstatic…OTR said that Habs fans are as bad as Leafs fans for winning a game in a series…and in recent years that is true: we make fun of Leafs fans with that “Yonge street parade” joke after every Leafs win and today’s Habs fans are going down the same path (even the fans of yesteryear are acting like this), everything we make fun of Leafs fans about exist now in the Bell Centre INCLUDING that awful tin foil Stanley Cup…the Habs are the Yankees of hockey and with either with a good team or bad team, the goal every year should be the Cup and anything less should be a failure…this should be the goal of every team every year whether they are slated to be first or slated to be last.
If they lose tonight, I will be satisfied that they were able to match up against a statistically superior team but disappointed and upset that they get eliminated in the first round. If they move on…then it is just the first step of four steps – nothing more. We have to take back our standards of success.
Nervous excitement for tonight’s game 7 tilt. It’s morning and my stomach is in knots thinking about it.
I like that Mtl has played really well in Washington. I love what Halak is showing and hope he keeps his mojo for this one.
Cammi, Gionta, Pleks, Gill, Markov and Gorges have played their hearts out! Love the addition of Subban, and, while he makes me a little nervous with his pinching, I love his confidence!
I’ll admit I thought the Caps had this series in 4 games. I’ll also admit that I like that I’ve been wrong!
Go Habs Go
***Shout Out to the HIO-ers in Calgary… sorry can’t make this gathering, but I’ll be cheering for our boys!
Calgary Hab fans….., a few of us are getting together at Shanks Crowfoot for the game tonight. If you want to join you can drop me an email (rob_eats_rice@hotmail.com) and i can make sure to save you a seat, in the event it gets a little busy. Hope some of you can make it out and Go Habs Go!!!
Are these things ‘blogs’ always like this…I mean is it not possible to have more capacity/bits/whatever they are to make it faster…it already cost me 2 moussess in the last year bashing them to no availe
I know it’s a bit late, but I had soccer so I PVRd it and I nearly had a HEART ATTACK in the 3rd! Our boys played amazingg!!!! Gorges should be Captain.
JAROSLAV HALAK IS SUPERMAANN! He played AMAAZZINNNGGG the last 3 games.
The only thing you deserve is an absolute ass-kicking. You are not a fan so stop pretending you are. You do not deserve to celebrate with the rest of us. All season and playoffs you bashed this team. And I mean BASHED them! So for you to say you are happy, this win is sweet and celebrate, give me a fricking break. You are the definition of a fraud! You are a JOKE Timo!
Good story. Reminds me of a friend at work who is a life time leaf fan who by the way i can tell is pulling for us. I don’t want to embarress him about it but i do appreciate it.
Anyway point is I agree with you about the kids, and i had discussed with him a couple weeks ago about young leaf fans who perhaps were given a leaf jersey or just made to watch the leafs because they were born in ontario.
So if this hypothetical kid was 5 years old when he was recruited as a fan by dad…wonder what he thinks about never having watched them play in the playoffs i.e. real hockey…now 10 year old. 5 years is just way way way too long out of the playoffs. Thank Gods we do not have that problem.
I’m gonna give AK the benefit of the doubt just for now. Something is wrong with him. He’s not moving well, not keeping up with the play. Maybe he has Spacek’s flu? I don’t know.
You are correct but if Bobby was still GM, his pet Price would have started the nets in the playoffs and highly unlikely we would have won the series against Washington.
Halak won the series for us, you have to admit Washington dominated the series.
At least Martin is making decisions now wo starts and sits in these playoffs and not Bobby.
Halak will be signed, I want him as our goalie for years to come.
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
You should eat the most crow of them all, after all your Price BS. If you were in charge, there is no doubt, this team is not even in the playoffs. You have no right to speak again. You are nothing.
2) The series against the Pens will be more even because the Pens back-check and play defence more than the Caps, so a lighter workload for Halak (hopefully);
3) Gainey built this team…many spat on him for it and with reason: they were inconsistent during the regular season, but perhaps he brought in all these new players just for the playoffs, maybe Gainey did not care what seed they were as long as they performed with heart and grit in the playoffs;
4) The smurfs beat the bigger, better Caps…but they cannot play the same way against the Pens…no one on the Pens roster is snakebit right now…;
5) Because of that dis-allowed goal, Habs fans can NEVER EVER complain about the refs again;
6) The CBC mocked the Habs chances, saying Caps in three and that the scores were going to be lopsided…so let me guess, Pens in two?
7) The Habs are making believers out of the pundits, sort of, Spector of Sportsnet is taking Habs in 7…Watters and MacLean still take the Pens but not as one-sided as before…apparently they said that the Habs would forfeit Game #4 against the Caps because it would be such a lopsided series and that the Caps would obliterate the Habs;
8) Many hockey pools just got destroyed;
9) If Detroit, Chicago, Montreal and Boston win their series, we would have an Original Six Final Four….that would be awesome…;
10) PG has made his mark on the team – Dominic Moore with the series winning goal;
I did not hit a bar but didn’t stop drinking to try to take the edge off. Unbelievable the last 3 games. What happened to JM? Has been a reborn coach the last three games. I am actually convinced he was a major factor in the come back.
Unbelievable! I am in shock that we beat the Caps. I’ll be the first to admit that I thought the series was over after the game 2 heartbreaker but I give a ton of credit to Halak, Cammy, JM, and most of the Habs for digging deep and hanging in there. This will be a great series win for a very long time.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
All I could say is “WOW”. The boys played an incredible series. Kudos to the whole team. No rest for the weary. I hope they have enough in the tank for Friday’s game.
Without Halak, this team is nothing. Don’t you dare say Gainey supported this team.If Gainey is here, the Habs are not in the playoffs because of Scarey Price. The ONLY REASON the HaBS ARE WHERE THEY ARE IS BECAUSE GAINEY IS GONE. He never believed in Halak. Halak is laughing at him now. There are a lot of people who didn’t believe in Halak either, I dare you to talk now.
…to Anyone out there too young to know WHY Toe Blake or Scotty
Bowman were considered to be among ‘the best’ coaches in NHL history
…despite having Teams Of Superstars, the Montreal Canadiens also
possessed coaches, in Blake and Bowman, that ‘knew’ HOW to Coach
…systematically, strategically …like chessmasters
…Our
Superstars were coached superbly to play …as a Team
…a Toe
Blake or Scotty Bowman-coached Washington Capital team with Ovechkin et
al, would not have lost this series
…this series woulda been
close, …but no cigar for Our Canadiens …IF the Caps had a quality
coach
…despite My feeling Jacques Martins was the best
‘available’ choice by Gainey for Coach of Our re-made Habs, for His
calmness, experience and organizational abilities …I was often also
mystified and frustrated during this season for …IMO …Martin not
sufficiently recognizing or allowing Our Players full offensive skills
to flourish its full potential
…beating the Caps IS/WAS A Great
Accomplishment …by Jacques Martins as well as Our Players …this was a
COMPLETE Team Effort on the ice …and behind the bench
…the
Penguins though are not as deep as the Caps, yet are MUCH better coached
…We
should not get too far ahead of Ourselves …but wouldn’t it be a great
antidote to ALL these miserable past 17 years of mediocrity to rise
from the ashes defeating first Ovechkin, second Crosby, third the
FilthyBoyz or Beanboyz …AND finally have an ALL Canadian final with da
‘Nuckz ??? …(We WINNING …of course !!!)
…sounds like a
great outline for a movie, doesn’t it ?
…GO HABS !!! …go !

That had to be one of the most thrilling games I have ever seen. The Montreal Canadiens…GIANT KILLERS!!! Words cannot describe how happy I am right now. Nothing is more satisfying than knowing that the so called experts, like PJ Laughing Stock and Mike Milbafoon eat their words. A team with heart and character…it has been a long time coming, but I am happy to say that this team is one to be proud of. GO HABS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike Milbury, Don Cherry, and PJ Stock….The three stooges of HNIC.

Talking about never being able to speak again. All we heard from you all season was we would never make the playoffs,to small,no character,no grit blah blah and more blah and if we accidently did it would be 4 and out. You are the poster boy of “nothing” and should be the last person to criticize anyone else.
Cammy gives credit where it is so due…Muller’s penalty kill adjustments throughout this series are reason enoughh, all by themselves why, some day, Muller is going to be a GREAT coach in this league. I hope he stays where he is for a while longer
Georges and Gill Shot Blocking GODS, plus the rest of the PK… what can you say, it was f&#king amazing!!! HALAK!!! Nuff said…
Thanks guys, I know a ton of Leaf fans whose ***holes are going to be puckered for a little while longer now. I can’t wait to see the look on their faces next time we meet up. Beautiful!! YA HOO!!
This is a terrible precedent, what’s to stop the league now from renaming other trophies after this amateur move by a Player’s association that can’t keep their act together for 10 minutes?
Do not tamper with the history of the NHL, our trophies are sacred in name and design.
A lot of you, including Boone, need to EAT CROW. There was nothing posted here but how the Habs were pretty much Capital doormats, but some, including me, called this two weeks ago.
“Rock bands have come and rock bands have gone but rock ‘n’ roll will live on forever!” Ray Davies, The Kinks, 1981.
Another BG hater. I stated if Halak won the next 3 games iwould believe in him so now i believe. You hawever live in the past are probably a leaf or bruin fan. BG also brought us Cammy, Gomer, Gill, Gionta, Moen, MAB. Pyatt, Moore etc. as well as letting all the dogs from last year go (still would have liked to have keeped Lang) and BTW we still have both goalies. No doubt you posted we had no coach, we were to small up front,no grit ,Gill and the rest of the d-men to small and slow. You must be crying right now and your only comeback is Gainey is gone. Guess what, who do you think was boarding the plane to Pittsburg? BG.
Go back to your day job as a towel boy with Timo at a Mens only Bath house.
BTW my whipping boy Laps has finally learned to hit players and not the boards. His play has improved game by game as the series has gone on (except for the dives) so he must have been saving himself for the playoffs. Works for me.
Also the horses are tired and cannot move. To many have jumped on the bandwagon.
I’m pretty sure I’m the only one in Las Vegas that is celebrating this win tonight but I don’t care!
For me, being 19, this ranks up as probably the best Habs game I’ve ever seen. Beating Boston after being down 3-1 was close, but something about beating OV makes this so much sweeter.
Excellent by everyone (except maybe AK46 but we’ve all come to expect that :p)
We can thank Sal for that, an angry fan who phoned in on Tony Marinaro’s post game show after game 4 and let JM have it for putting Hamrlik out on the PP when he had given up a short handed chance that led to the back breaking goal in game 3 (which is what also happened in game 4). It was such an impressive rant, if only because the fan was absolutely livid and did not curse once, that the Team 990 replayed it over and over again. It must have reached JM somehow because you are right, after game 4, JM outcoached Boudreau.
All kidding aside (and that might even be a half joke at best) I think Cammalleri said it best in that you can’t shut down the Caps. Games 5 through 7 were an example of players increasingly buying into the idea that there was simply no room for error in the defensive zone and that the sacrifice was offensive opportunities. For good reason too, PK Subban’s cute little rush/pinch put the habs in serious trouble and that was on the power play. The last two games that habs were under 15 shots total for a reason, there was absolutely no margin for error in giving the Caps a quick strike. I think the only odd man rush for washington tonight was the 3 on 1 that ended up with Semin (I think) hitting the post.
So yeah, kudos to Martin for getting his players to buy in, or the adjustments that he made.
Cardiac Canadiens indeed! That was sick! I, like many of you out there, watched the Habs win the cup in 93 and watch a string of overtime after overtime and still, none of that compares to the stress that I felt watching last night’s game.
If there was any doubt, Halak has arrived as a number 1. IF he keeps playing like this, who knows what can happen. The Habs will be in tough agaisnt the Pens but, like they are saying on the Team 990, you never know.
I am happy that the younger generation have become great Habs fans coming from the older generation it is time to let the old games go ,we will never forget the great games that have been played in the latter years. Saying that i have nentioned on this blog before that even I was getting tired of hearing about the same players from the 40ths. & on It was time to move to the younger generation to cheer for the players they know now. I am certainly enjoying the new team that we have. Hope we can keep both Goalies. What a team, they will even be better next year…….I am very proud of them all they all played well ….GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!
Got back from watching the game at a friends place and, just…WOW! What a GREAT F’ING game!!! Ranks right up there with 1971 for me! Just amazing goaltending by Jaroslav Halak in this series. Halak and the penalty killers (especially Gill and Gorges) singlehandedly won this series for the Habs. Great work by Cammalleri, Gionta, Gomez, the 3rd line, etc, etc, total team effort. I’m TOTALLY STUNNED thta we were able to come back and win this series! Hell, I probably won’t even believe it when I wake up tomorrow lol!
This royal game of kings, this
two-score-and-four-Cupped isle, This goaltender of
majesty, this line of Mars, This other miracle, demi-deity, This
fortress built by Halak for ourselves Against Ovechkin and the
sticks
of war, This happy breed of Hab fans, this little world, This
precious puck set in the frozen St. Lawrence River, Against the envy
of
the lesser Capital lands,– This blessed series, this isle, this
team,
this Montreal.
I’m late to the post-game celebrations, so I don’t know if it’s already been mentioned… but Hal Gill, Josh Georges, and every player that played on the penalty kill or blacked a shot are the true unsung heroes of the series. Caps go 1-for-31 (or more) on the powerplay, and in game 7 with everything on the line the team blocked more shots than the number of saves that Jaro had to make.
Habs D… you’re super-studs in my book!

Cheer for the crest on the front of the jersey, not the name on the back.
I dont know why some are on your case about this, I agree with you totally. Without exceptional goaltending, the habs have a very hard time winning some games.
You are a joke! A complete FRAUD! You trash the team all year and all during this playoffs, but now you are happy and cheer the team? Give me a break you joke! You are the definition of a FAKE FAN! Take a hike buddy no room for you on this bandwagon. You should really jump off a 10 story building.
YA BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, I absolutely agree with you that without Halak’s heroics that this team would not have succeeded…but do not forget that Gainey drafted Halak and called Halak the best goalie who was not in the NHL at one point…so what if Gainey believed in Price; wouldn’t you want a GM who believed in his draft picks? Isn’t that how tanking works – believing in your young players to lose, develop and win together…in Gainey’s position, my guess is he tried a one-draft tank.
But Gainey DOES deserve credit for building a team that blocked 180+ shots in a 7-game series, plus if Gainey really did not believe in Halak, he would have traded him for a 6th-round pick years ago…so please stop with the conspiracy theory that Gainey controls the coaches and tells them who to play; do you still think that that signed Koivu contract is still in Gainey’s desk? In hindsight, could we not surmise that Halak was the backup plan if Price did not pan out?
But I will also agree with you on the following: the way the team is playing is not conducive to long-term winning, they will hit the wall eventually.
You know its not the most exciting hockey but boy is it ever nice to see the lead after 2. This team is all for one and one for all. Great chemistry being shown and boy is Halak showing his stuff. There is not as much net crashing as I felt there would be but we have one more period of nerve racking hockey before the boys take on Sid.
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSS!!!!!!! GO HABS GO!!!!! GO HABS GO!!!! GO HABS GO!!! GO HABS GO!!
given that this is the biggest game of their lives to this point i cannot imagine how Pouliot, and AK could play so poorly….the effort level seems almost non-existant.
Wow! Just Wow!! I have to be honest, I didn’t see this coming, but i’m not surprised. Our team seems to have alot more heart than we thought.
Those additions this offseason have brought so much talent, and so much desire to win its unreal to watch. I never thought I would say this, but all hail King Gill, the guy has the wingspan of a freaking pterodactyl.
Gotta love’em folks, you’re beautiful Montreal Canadiens!!!!!!!
I would not bench AK, he’s got a crazy shot and has scored 2 goals in a previous game 7. We need an offensive threat. I would not play him in the last few mins, though.
I would play Metro for one shift, he looks out of place or not in the zone tonight. Maybe he hasn’t gotten into the flow because of limited shifts.
As far as the goalie interference “controversy” is concerned, honestly, from the Caps perspective, they never should have let the game and the series get to that point.
Caps will be sacrificing some offense I suspect for some playoff leaders in the offseason.
Um…..gainey had price dealt to tampa at the draft for vinny. I’d say that means bob believed in halak. I dare you to talk now. Gainey assembled this team but didn’t support them? That makes alot of sense. Or are you one of those guys who wanted the team to fail miserably for our own personal satisfaction?
Holy Shit!! I can’t believe they pulled it off. I have been text messaging my friends since the game, reminding them how awesome the Habs are. I again caught the game at Local Heroes in Ottawa, and I was high fiving people I have never met during and after the game. I will be at game 3 in Montreal, and I am so excited! One of my friends that I work with at Kanata Golf Club is a huge Caps fan because some of the players are members at our club, nameley Matt Bradley. I can’t wait to wear my jersey…I saved all of my shit talking because I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but tomorrow is D-Day for him. GO HABS GO! Boone, keep the jinx up! Keep believing everyone! Talk about cloud nine! I wonder how the players feel. I can’t believe they have to put this behind them and prepare for a game on Friday..how will we pull off the parade?!
…Do You know WHAT I am also happy about ? …I am happy for Our Young Fans …those Whom became Habs’ Fans based merely on hearsay …and or reading about IT from others or books, old video, whatever …to have themselves seen for Themselves a ‘little’ of WHAT older Fans have experienced being a Habs’ Fan
…let’s hope THIS is the beginning of another proud era for Our Montreal Canadiens
Thanks
for sharing the information. I am very amazed at the confidence level of you
guys, so i have to refer your blog to my friends because it’s really a help
full blog.
Habs I/O needs to provide subsidies for booze, xanax, prozac, full service massages for us to calm our jitters. It’s odd to feel this nervous and excited about something indirect to me; I’m not playing, I’m not on the ice, my child is not on the ice. But I am connected to the Habs nonetheless and am as personally into this as possible.
Congrats to our Habs – if they haven’t learned to win from this series, they never will. Absolutely awesome! A bit Devil’s hockey in the third with Gionta and Gomez out there. What a display of grit. My hats off to Hal and Jaro… and the unsung heroes.
You think you guys have long to wait?! I’m living in Italy have been up since 6 a.m. in morning here and only 10.30 pm now and still got to wait till 1 am for puck to drop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think all men are pros at that. Funny thing is we never know what the hell we did for them to freak out. So what if I left the toilet seat up. Next time they use the bathroom, i expect them to put the toilet seat up before they leave.
Whatever happens, this team has earned the respect of a lot of people, that didn’t think much of them before (most of the world basically). Am leaning towards the Caps, but MTL can win, if: They score first, Halak plays like games 5 and 6 and they win the special teams battle again. As long as they give it their all and don’t play scared, I’m OK with them, win or lose. To go 7 games with the best team in the regular season and handle that offense is no small task. There are some pretty big character guys on this team, and they deserve to finish this off. it would definately be unbelievable. But please no overtime, The Olympics almost did me in.
In the words of Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins’ Tonight, Tonight:
Time is never time at all You can never ever leave without leaving a piece of youth And our lives are forever changed We will never be the same The more you change the less you feel Believe, believe in me, believe That life can change, that you’re not stuck in vain We’re not the same, we’re different tonight Tonight, so bright Tonight And you know you’re never sure But you’re sure you could be right If you held yourself up to the light And the embers never fade in your city by the lake The place where you were born Believe, believe in me, believe In the resolute urgency of now And if you believe there’s not a chance tonight Tonight, so bright Tonight We’ll crucify the insincere tonight We’ll make things right, we’ll feel it all tonight We’ll find a way to offer up the night tonight The indescribable moments of your life tonight The impossible is possible tonight Believe in me as I believe in you, tonight
How dare you infer that my idol was a Nordiques fan. I demand evidence, proof, complete documentation.
As for Cannonball check this. In my very first class at Berklee on a pre-semester summer course when I was 17 the guest artist was, yes, Cannonball. Forty-one years later I can still hear him talking and playing. Bird may have been the pathfinder but Cannonball was the guru.
On monday i drank three different tall boys, a different one each period. So today i hit the beer store and bought the exact same three brands of beer to drink, one during each period. I even bought an extra 4th beer, in case of overtime.
The beer i chose to drink for the 3rd period is called Tiger. aka Eye of the Tiger, aka smash the big Russian aka beat ovechkin and the caps.
Satisfaction came in a chain reaction Ovie’s not enough, so he had to self-destruct The heat was on, Habs rising to the top Everybody is going strong, and that is when Halak got hot I heard somebody say
Burn baby burn! Verizon inferno! Burn baby burn! The Caps are meltin’ down! Burn baby burn! Verizon inferno! Burn baby burn! The Caps are meltin down!
Fearless predictions: the Caps jump out to an early 2-0 lead. The Habs hang on and then answer back with 1 in the second. The Caps score to open the third and the Habs come back with two goals late to send it into OT. Brian Gionta nets the winner… 4-3 Habs.
I say we all put our addresses and locations and email them to Boone.
We then have the Gazette staff repsonsbile for sending ambulances to each of our houses if we don’t post something within 2 minutes after the game is over.
obviously we need a backup plan since the servers will crash if the habs win

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
A total non-sequitur here, but don’t you think some marketing guru missed the mark with the Downy and Tide Ads on the HIO site? Seems to me it’s the wrong demographic!
I ate the same lunch, Im wearing the same clothes, (minus underwear), did everything exactly the same I did on Monday. But I also am having trouble breathing and concentrating.
Here’s what I think the difference maker will be tonight: Caps with one only player with a cup (Knuble in ’98 with Detroit but he only played 3 games); Habs with 4 guys with rings for a total of 5 cup rings, and each guy was a major contributor in getting their teams there!! The Habs have a dressing room of experienced guys who know what it takes to win this kind of game. GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good News – Any time you’re ahead after the 1st on the road is a good omen. The refs have called a neutral game so far. Halak is in the zone. Semin and Green are still snakebitten.
Bad News – We’re getting outplayed. The Pleks line is brain dead so far.
Good period. As was expected the Caps came out to hit and show their size advantage but was to no avail in that period. OB doing some hitting of his own. PK looks very settled on each shift, very cool player under pressure. With the Habs one goal lead the Caps will need to open up abit more and leave openings for our swift forwards to play hell in the ozone. In all not a bad period of hockey, smart plays all around. Hall Gill is awsome tonight.
Dirty job??? Anything but as a pp guy all he has to do is hit the net… Hal gill and Josh gorges have dirty jobs playing d on the pp is in no way a dirty job c’mon man. Love his shot but what he does on the pp is not grunt work it’s all skill and flash.
Americans can’t make decent ice, why i loathe the Florida trips, plus the Rags, Ruins and Trashers especially, five teams where it’s like they’re playing road hockey.
Whom will he run first, Halak or Markov? — probably both at the same time. hope the puck doesn’t go with them into the net. More important, i hope moore, moen, lappy dish it out at the other end
i wont be watching the game b/c ill be writing my final exam a block away from the bell centre! how bloody cruel is that.. I hope this doesnt happen to any other hab fan!.
Guys I have a problem. I should go pick up some job applications today, but I have a decent playoff beard going on. It isn’t that long and I don’t think i look that bad with it. Do I risk a jinx and shave, or just go get jobs, beard and all? If I shave and we lose…. oh man.
Boone’s had the Lovin’ Spoonful song stuck in my head since yesterday: one of my favourite songs all-time! Here’s a clip of it on the Ed Sullivan Show (lip-sync).
Who is Walker replacing? Is it Fleischman? Regardless….the problem with the Habs D is that they can handle shooters…they cannot handle crashers…Boudreau said it himself: they get good shots on net and nothing goes in, but what they do score on is a deflection of a puck that was going to miss the net.
O’Byrne, Gorges, Gill, Hamrlik, Subban, Markov and Bergeron better be ready to throw a lot of people to the ground.
I live in South Dakota, USA. My future boss likely won’t even be a hockey fan. I hear rumors that there is a second Habs fan in my town of 25,000, but I haven’t met him.
A blog on the Washington Post site featured a “lively” debate on Ovechkin’s no-show at the optional practice. Alexander Semin did not attend either. (Like he really needs practice, eh?)
It boggles the mind. He’s the Captain, for chrissakes! To be honest, I have been shocked to see Ovy dogging it and making lazy changes. His “whatever” style of defense has resulted in some Habs’ goals.
I am so nervous. I want the game to start, but I don’t know if I can bring myself to watch it.
No, only legal to kill native americans still. Thats just a law from the 1800′s that wouldn’t stand up in court though. Thank god, I like my room mate, even if he is a flyers fan.
I think i’ll just grab applications at jobs I think will accept my beard today. I’m applying at a pawn shop, like they care.
It has been suggested that the Caps have had a meltdown by some.
That
is not what is going on at all. The fact of the matter is that
Washington was the best team in the league, therefor the Presidents Cup
is theirs. They are a good team and cannot get any better.
On the
other hand their opposition tonight, a rag tag quickly put together
team last fall, has learned how to play together over the coarse of
this year. They are still improving and learning how to win every game
with no end in site.
Once we knock off these guys tonight and
last years cup champs next, people will then take notice how good we
are getting to be.
Enjoy the ride folks, we are far from the end of the road.
Again, Ian, totally agree. This team (washington) has been on top of the standing s for so long, they had nothing to play for for the last few months of the year. Then when they got up 3-1 (which was not deserved) they settled back into coasting mode. Now i dont know if they have that other gear readily available to them. Our boys have been clawing since game one of the season. Sure hope they can claw one more.
Ian i think your bought into a fairy tail — our team isnt very good at all im sorry to say. giving up 40+ shots night in night out does not make a good team – yes we are getting better but i am afraid we are no where near as good as you think we are. This “team” has a ways to go and some major pieces to be filled and or re-placed. Contender not yet pretender and suprise team at the moment yes.
Hah, I’m in Aberdeen, and have a similar tattoo at a similar spot (left arm for me).
I’ve already made plans with hockey fans here. we should hold a Dakota’s Canadiens fans gathering though. Maybe during the parade everyone keeps talking about.
If Scott Walker plays tonight…the Habs better be ready to clear the area around Halak with more than stick checks and nudges…Poti being out can help but Alzner has played well when called up…there has to be a way to turn Poti’s absence into an advantage.
Liking the Adams nominees. Sacco and Tippett both took teams to the playoffs that no one thought would be there. Trotz does a formidable job year in year out with an underfunded Nashville team. Very happy that Boudreau was not nominated the way Green was. Neither one deserves to be anywhere near an award table come June.
so walker is in – added to knuble, chimera, et al. hope we see some knock-down defense around the crease. ugly goals count, and the bouncing-banking-trickling ones are killers. i guess the first period halak is going to see an onslaught of pucks, sticks, bodies and skates
Lots of shots against in that period, but the PK was heroic. Everything on the outside. Hopefully the Caps tired themselves out with all of the skating they did in that period.
You can just smell an all-out caps shooting gallery in the last 4 minutes of this game… Is Halak up to the task? Cause it dont look like the rest of these guys have what it takes to stop Ovechin and Co.
Can’t complain about being ahead after two periods but everybody knows we need another goal. The Caps aren’t backing off and will certainly score at some point in the 3rd.
Hal Gill for Prime Minister. I can’t remember the last Hab who has played this far above his head. Kudos galore.
Hamrlik has also had a stellar game. He’s there when it counts the most.
The Pleks line continues to hurt us. I’d mention a certain player except I’d be a broken record.
Oh well, i just figured you two would rather be right about the team sucking than for them to win. Guess ya dont know people from what they post on the internet day after day after day after day
I worked on the local IATSE crew setting that show up. I also got to know one of the roadies with the staging company. He liked my dirty jokes so much he got me an all access pass which I totally abused all night to get down into the sound and light tower and back and fro thru security via the front of the stage etc… Very memorable night. Tonight will top it!
I just can’t do anything. But the good news, I skipped every single linear of the semester and I only go for the tests. And guess what? I had a test on Monday and had to go to class. So guess what I did today, I went to that class. Did not understand shit but that’s okay. Anything to bring them some more luck.
I can’t do anything anymore. Can’t study, can’t eat, can’t listen to music but I prayed! Seriously, drop the puck already!
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
Watching the ref’s tonight, it seems like the Bettman discussion went like the Monty Python scene in with the castle gaurds “Okay, you call the Habs so the Caps win” “Right, we call the caps and the Habs win”
Gord Miller on Team 990 just mentioned that he thinks PK Subban has either has no idea that tonight’s a game 7 or he just doesn’t care that it is lol. He’s a mix of excited, but cool and collected at the same time. He also called PK “unflappable.”
The CH remind me of an hilarious short film I once saw titled ” The guest who would never leave ” …. the Caps should have been off with us a long time ago resting and getting ready for their next series against the Flyers but here we were being the supreme irritant standing there just hanging out not going anywhere….. Washington will be ready to kill just to put an end to this nightmare tonight … just as they were two days ago.
World U18 in 2003: The Habs actually took notice of Halak when he shutout the Russians in the semifinal. A Russian team that included the like of Ovechkin and Malkin.
2010 Vancouver: Slovakia beat Russia 2-1 making 36 saves. Halak stops 7 shot from Ovie, 7 by Malkin and 5 by Semin.
Ya think Ovechkin is sick of seeing Jaro stone him time and time again when it really counts? I think that plays big in his head and his frustration level will mount if they don’t get anything past Halak in the first period will be at its max.
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
I don’t believe in magic. I don’t believe in reverse jinxes. I don’t believe that posting the word SHUTOUT means the goose egg will be popped. I am not superstitious.
I do believe the Habs have a good chance of winning this game. A much better chance than I thought they had before the series started where I called for a Caps victory in 6 games.
Anything can happen. For those of us who were there for the pre-summit game as we saw the Habs defeat this team in an exciting end-to-end match I wish you all a great game tonight.
Whatever the outcome, I will say this, that it’s been a very entertaining series.

Ahhh Noo!! My dad is coming to visit..no no nooo!@!
He’s really negative and doesn’t believe in Habs anymore.
Funny story: Before my parents got separated when I was a kid, my mom used to always get mad at him for spending his evenings doing nothing but sit on his a$$ and watch hockey games with a beer.
Today, my mom is a Habs fan and can’t miss a Habs game, and is very familiar with other team players.
How ironic.
According to michel Bergeron and jacques Demers, they have been fair with the Canadiens this year.I ‘m sure that im not alone in thinking that bad refs could spoil a game 7 if LES CANADIENS decide to play like game 6.
I also dont want the Arrogant Caps to think they can RAM HALAK because “they can” .Forget shaking him up,one of these days, somebody is going to get unjured!
Boone – I was watching McCowan’s show, and noticed the pic that they had up of you. I thought they had it wrong, then I looked at the Gazette website and it is the same pic. Is there an imposter Boone? Was that Gazette pic taken when you were sporting a fresh summer tan during the 80′s?
Washington losing Tom Poti is a significant factor in tonight’s game. The Caps have called up Karl Alzner but also have Tyler Sloan and John Erskine in reserve. Both guys are 6’4″ and come in at over 205 lbs. Sloan has already played in two games while Erskine might find it difficult to deal with our quick forwards as they dart around the Washington zone. All three shoot left.
Karl Alzner is rated (as of Christmas) as the 6th best defensive prospect not playing in the NHL.
1st – Alex Pietrangelo 2nd – Oliver Ekman-Larsson 3rd – John Carlson 4th – Luca Sbisa 5th – P.K. Subban 6th – Karl Alzner
Alzner is 6’3″/205 and went 5th in the 2007 draft. He has spent the past two years in Hershey with recalls to Washington in both years. He is very mature as he displays lots of poise and steadiness. He moves the puck well but really doesn’t always use his size to advantage. His skating is decent but not great. He may have some issues with Montreal’s speedy forwards as they shift around the Washington zone. He’s a bit like O’Byrne but with a lot more upside. It will be interesting to see Alzner play with Carlson. He’ll be the stay at home guy while Carlson will propel the attack. Looks to be a smart move by the Caps. Especially seeing these two guys don’t need to see a ton of ice time.
The key on the back end will still be Mike Green. He needs to spark the PP and play like a Norris trophy candidate. He totally broke down last year agaisnt Pittsburgh so he’s now in danger of doing it again. Maybe Team Canada was way ahead of the curve on this guy. It will be a great omen for the Habs if Green and Semin are still playing sub par hockey. It also will have an indirect impact on the play of Ovechkin and Backstrom.
Dressing Scott Walker makes a statement for the Caps in tonight’s game. Washington plan to battle this game along the boards, in the trenches and inside Halak’s crease. I hope that Pouliot, AK46 and Hamrlik utilize their size tonight. We can’t afford to have any candy asses or timmy tykes on the ice during game 7.
I think Anaheim would like to retain him and Montreal can’t afford to sign him at 3rd line centre for what he’d likely command as a free agent since Gomez and Plekanec have the top 2 spots locked up. It’s a new team and as much as I loved Saku in the CH, I think his time has passed in this town. I will always salute him for what he did here, but unfortunately I think we shall not see him with the Canadiens again. I’ve read he’s enjoying life in California right now as well, with the mountain off of his back to be the face of the team and take the heat for everything going. He gets to play hockey now without the massive scrutiny and I think he likes that.
Kind of makes for an interesting story here. The Caps, top scoring team in the league, have to go for extra muscle to try and beat the Habs, one of the lowest scoring teams. Desperation move?
Alzner was also Carlson’s defence partner in Hershey. They were talking earlier on Hocley Central or on 640 in Toronto (I was flipping back and forth) that Poti’s injury could hurt Carlson’s play. Shows you what they know.
Martin could be in for a surprise if the tries to go up against them and doesn’t catch on.
i remember seeing it called in the most blatant cases where a puck is on its way in and the guy just lifts the net. i can’t remember who or when but it was a long time ago. but yeah i think it still applies.
By memory – i’ll look it up soon – If it is pushed off in the last 2 minutes of a game or in OT, and the referee says it was intentional, it is a penalty shot. Not many refs have the boulders to call it most of the time though.
This must be a rule that doesn’t exist anymore, not exactly anyways. A penalty shot is awarded when the net is intentionally knocked off during a breakaway, or when the penalty cannot be served in its entirety in regulation.
Thank God I don”t have any tests today…I’ve been sooo nervous all day…its not even funny! I feel sick to my stomach! I wasn’t this nervous even for Game 7 against Boston 2 years ago.
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
Spacek on the ice this morning, does anyone know what that means for the lineup?
Mara’s even making the trip: more for support than anything else, but I still like it as I it shows you how tight the room is. One way or another, this team has really shown a lot of guts and determination to force a Game 7 against the Caps. Well done boys!!
I have to get out of the house for a while. Need to clear my mind before this overwhelms me. I had no idea I’d be this jacked up over a first round game with this team. You go through the season with lowered expectations, not getting too upset over the losses, the bonehead plays and the strange transactions. You enjoy the wins but always with that cautionary voice in the back of your head saying “Don’t get excited. It’s only a game”. Then it comes down to a games 7 and you throw all rational thought out the window. Go Habs, no matter what!
If Walker dresses as some have said then it will be another net crasher to contend with. Maybe Jaro needs to hold his stick a little higher and see how many come busting in. Hope the reffs get to the Caps early ( highly unlikely ) and hand out a few goaltender interference calls.
Ouch! Dan O’ Halloran is the same guy who was there in Game 2. The same guy who let the Caps use Halak as a welcome mat and who cost us the game because of the non-call with Knuble sitting on Halak’s lap. JM needs to make sure he speaks to O’Halloran at the start to tell him to watch out for the Caps running Halak. plant that seed in his head early so they don’t get away with it. The guy owes us big time after the screw-job we got – if it weren’t for him, the Habs would be in the second round already.
Theres something eerily appropriate about that… Hope you feel better and have a blast watching the Habs play tonight Timo… And when you are blasting the team incessantly in a month from now, we’re all going to direct you to this day where the Habs put themselves in a position to pull off one of THE biggest upsets in sports history. Here’s hoping!
“This team didn’t win 54 games in the regular season by accident; they did so by being better - better than every other team in the League. Certainly better than Montreal and its under-sized (and under-skilled) forwards, slow-footed blueliners, inexperienced goaltenders..”
Yeah, as if their blueliners are any more mobile, not too mention much worse as a group than Montreal’s. Montreal has shown this series just how absolutely pitiful Washington’s defence is, they can be exploited by a speedy forward group such as Montreal’s
I completely understand the point of view of those who will not be happy with anything but a win tonight. But I must say…..I think the expectations of some fans may need to be slightly updated. This is not the Montreal Canadiens of a 6 team league. Or the Montreal Canadiens after the first expansion. This is the Montreal Canadiens of the new NHL where parity rules, and i think there has to be some credit given to even the little accomplishments. Comparing our current team to those teams in the glory years is unfair, IMO. And while i agree that we, as fans, hold this team to a higher standard, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with taking a step back every now and then, and rationally assessing the team based on it’s modern day accomplishments. And i think if you do that, that most would agree, while everyone here wants a win badly and will be very upset by a loss tonight……the fact that this team, which really is a number SIXTEEN ranked team vs the number One ranked team in the playoffs, has done very well in this matchup.
Saw your good and great friend Mr.Hickey on TSN last night. I understand he probably didn’t have time to pull his lucky sweater on for television, but at the very least he could have shaved.
I’m sure if Jack Todd had been on, he would have worn his sunglasses.
Talk of Spacek being able to go. For me, he’s either out altogether or I’d put him in as the 7th D and sit MAB. We only need the 7th guy to be one of the PP defencemen. Otherwise, I’d rather have Subban and I’d still take Game-6 Hamrlik over a recovering Spacek. I wouldn’t go altering the line-up right now after two good performances and if Spacek moves in, you know JM will yank Subban out, and that’s not a good move.
Subban out they lose, case closed. Sorry but he brought energry and enthusiasm and it leaked to the rest of the team. Lapierre looked like he was trying to prove he’s worth every last penny. He setup Cammy’s goal. He fixed a potential game-breaking Hamrlik mistake (when he passed to Subban he was covered, but Subban walked around the guy).
Habs have gotten better each game of this series, they are looking as sharp as the Miracle Blade III cutting a steel toe boot.
Caps have been scrambling and are in a stand still with their jaws to the floor thinking “Shit…we are not that good, eh”
The Caps have already lost this game mentally!!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAAAAABS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The furniture will be there tomorrow. NOTHING will stop me from this game tonight! I am in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and nothing shorter than a full evacuation on the rig will stop me!
You could always check in on the radio?
Debbie, if I were you I’d respectfully tell you dad to get his priorities in order.

I can’t believe I am going to miss this game! HABS BETTER WIN !!!! My season of hockey watching can’t end like this!

GO HABS GO
GO HABS GO
GO HABS GO
Don’t want to hear anything negative today!!!!
Echoing what I said in another thread on HIO, Habs gotta play like they have nothing to lose.
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
2 reasons, The Caps are in game 7 and 2 reasons only. Halak and MTL’s PK.
Makes me feel, well…NOT crazy.
lol, you guys just reminded me of this bit from Family Guy…

WHO WANTS CHOWDAH?
Why can’t youpack and move until 7:10, then during the intermissions. Then at 9:40 you can pack/move until Saturday at 7:10…
Chris Lee (aw crap, puked a little) tends to do that to the best of us.
As long as I don’t see Peel or Lee I’m fine.
I am not an animal, I just reproduce that way.
Didn’t know Al-Qaeda #2 Ayman al-Zawahiri was a Habs fan.
Then again, sanity is not a prerequisite.
Dan is the man as for Brad not sure
thank God it isn’t Chris Lee — sorry i just vomited in my mouth and key board.
Laff nation is jealous…
To You From Failing Hands We Throw The Torch, Be Yours To Hold It High.
As per Stubbs: Dan O’Halloran and Brad Watson are officiating tonights game.
Anyone know their track records?
Considering that he is making fun of Habs fans by saying they are acting like Leafs fans is rather poignant and true. All the pro-Leafs networks know of the Leafs fans short-comings and Habs fans know them too…it is NOT ok to act like those we belittle. We should have standards unlike Leafs fans.
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
That’s incredibly simplistic, especially considering Cammalleri has outscored Ovechkin.
Damn right

– YES HABS CAN!! –
I do not agree with the win or lose be proud comments.
This is the Montreal Canadiens we are talking about here there is only one option WIN
if you win Habs i will be proud.
Oh how HUGE that first goal is going to be
GO HABS GO !!!!
i’m praying they’ve forgotten about the game tonight (how someone could forget..
Maybe we can move after the game.
I’m so distressed
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
A complete team effort of the superhero type is need by all …..”that means you too Pouliot!”.Go Habs Go
Nervous excitement for tonight’s game 7 tilt.
Go Habs Go
***Shout Out to the HIO-ers in Calgary… sorry can’t make this gathering, but I’ll be cheering for our boys!
ditto!
Is it 7pm yet????
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
No no no ….Fake a back problem and watch the game
…don’t jinx it girl!!
– YES HABS CAN!! –
Are you sure about that?
Keep Bergeron off the ice!
goaltender interference
The riot will officially begin at 10:00pm!
Are these things ‘blogs’ always like this…I mean is it not possible to have more capacity/bits/whatever they are to make it faster…it already cost me 2 moussess in the last year bashing them to no availe
Man in crease, I believe.
OK, lets debate.
Dominic Moore: Worth a 2nd?
Incidental contact by Knuble.
Not enough for a penalty though.
DID YA LIKE THAT GAME AND SERIES CHRISTOPHER…….YEEEE HAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Versus guy praising JM for always having either Gorges or Gill on the ice with Ovi.
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
CAN HALAK WIN THE BIG GAMES?????
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Props to that comment! I agree, a new generation is rewarded!
The last 20 minutes of this game will be INTENSE!
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
Ref will be put in the hole in Toronto or New York – Love Ovy’s look – what a douche
Incredible. This is the reason we watch sports.
AK is killing his line.
RDS interview with Cammy…. they ask about Halak…he says “Halak let in one goal tonite and we’ll have to work on that”.
Fan F. Halakular!
So glad I took my blood pressure meds this morning!
Man I need these TV breaks as much as they do.
HISTORY WAS MADE!!!!
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
HALAK!
Let’s go Habs – keep playing hard!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
Somebody help me… I’m so nervous
IM OFF TO DOWNTOWN PEOPLE!!! YESSSSSSS I LOVE YOU ALL!!
GO HABS GO!!!!!!!
– YES HABS CAN!! –
Breathe in.
Breathe out….
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Gill, Gomez, Moen, Camalleri, Gionta. Pretty good signings Bob.
And before people crap on Trevor Timmins. Remember he picked up Halak in the 9th round.
this is amazing:
Stat from hfboards: Montreal Canadiens led the Washington Capitals for 434 minutes in the series. Washington only 55 minutes.
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
Thanks guys, but more importantly, thank you refs!
WOW I think I nearly had a heart attach at 22 years old…. Im so proud
Keep testing Varly — he’s been giving up rebounds and gave up weak goals yesterday.
Get some shots on him!
WOW I think I nearly had a heart attach at 22 years old…. Im so proud
No goal and Ape man running around like he won the cup, I dont like him at all
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Killing me with this sit on a one goal lead bullsh#t…get the puck in their end…control the puck
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Two words: Thank You
Another two words: Bob Gainey
See you at the parade!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Comment! We love Boone.
The shot of Gill on the bench when he finally got off with 35 seconds left said it all. The Habs gave everything they had.
I am so PROUD of this team and I am CANADIEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for Pittsburg, HABS IN 7.
Me too. I feel like puking.
Wow… just wow. Well done boys…
When the Caps become very deparate/start really pinching, I hope we can ponce – maybe a Pleks breakaway?
Stratford Streak Its the real OG’s
Just keep shooting at the logo Alex.
back on the bandwagon i see. You must be tired going on and off the bandwagon… some of us are real Habs fans!
Sore winner much?
Gainey didn’t support this team? Gainey ASSEMBLED THIS TEAM.

And the correct answer is >> habfab!!!
we couldn’t have done it without ya man… at least it wouldn’t have been as fun. you’re a trooper.
They had better check AK for powder under his nose. He is lost out there.
Clearly no goal, I just hope we don’t get called
WHAT A SHIFT……AWESOME!!!!!!
BURY BURY BURY BURY THEM!!
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
No goal? Oh well..keep pushing Habs!
Was the puck in before the push????????? PLEASE HOCKEY GODS
Clearly pushed into Varlamov, even by Lapierre’s standards.
Apparently PJ Stock joked the Caps could win in 3. What a douche.
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
AK46 must be either sick or he is sulking because his brother isn’t playing. Otherwise what is his problem?
Great shift by Moore-Pouliot-Lapierre
I’m gonna give AK the benefit of the doubt just for now. Something is wrong with him. He’s not moving well, not keeping up with the play. Maybe he has Spacek’s flu? I don’t know.
gORGES FOR cAPTAIN!
Laps kicked the puck in anyways.
Holy Geez!!!
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
they are playing with Fire
Pressure Habs, pressure!
You should eat the most crow of them all, after all your Price BS. If you were in charge, there is no doubt, this team is not even in the playoffs. You have no right to speak again. You are nothing.
wHY ARE MY PANTS WET?
Alright my two cents:
1) Congrats to JM for winning his first Game #7;
2) The series against the Pens will be more even because the Pens back-check and play defence more than the Caps, so a lighter workload for Halak (hopefully);
3) Gainey built this team…many spat on him for it and with reason: they were inconsistent during the regular season, but perhaps he brought in all these new players just for the playoffs, maybe Gainey did not care what seed they were as long as they performed with heart and grit in the playoffs;
4) The smurfs beat the bigger, better Caps…but they cannot play the same way against the Pens…no one on the Pens roster is snakebit right now…;
5) Because of that dis-allowed goal, Habs fans can NEVER EVER complain about the refs again;
6) The CBC mocked the Habs chances, saying Caps in three and that the scores were going to be lopsided…so let me guess, Pens in two?
7) The Habs are making believers out of the pundits, sort of, Spector of Sportsnet is taking Habs in 7…Watters and MacLean still take the Pens but not as one-sided as before…apparently they said that the Habs would forfeit Game #4 against the Caps because it would be such a lopsided series and that the Caps would obliterate the Habs;
8) Many hockey pools just got destroyed;
9) If Detroit, Chicago, Montreal and Boston win their series, we would have an Original Six Final Four….that would be awesome…;
10) PG has made his mark on the team – Dominic Moore with the series winning goal;
11) So, Mike Green….how much do the Habs have?
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
Omg… how did that stay out
I did not hit a bar but didn’t stop drinking to try to take the edge off. Unbelievable the last 3 games. What happened to JM? Has been a reborn coach the last three games. I am actually convinced he was a major factor in the come back.
Cmon guys, just give us 1 more goal….just 1
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
I can’t take this anymore!!! a bit more than 9 min….
– YES HABS CAN!! –
I used to have a lot of respect for Boudreau, now I find him whiney and annoying.
All I could say is “WOW”. The boys played an incredible series. Kudos to the whole team. No rest for the weary. I hope they have enough in the tank for Friday’s game.
GO HABS GO!
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
I FREAKING CALLED THIS! I AM SO whatever. I LOVE ALL OF YOU, even Timo, ya bitch. Penguins are tired and are ripe for more team-hockey upsets!!!
LET’S DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a game. I do not feel relaxed.
So do you think they will make the playoffs. LOL I love this whole two season thing. . . . . 10 minutes more of this????
He’s overweight.
Whose going to step up in these last 10 minutes? The Washington D will pinch, we should get some odd-man rushes. We gotta put those away.
Varly is not tested, he’s not in the game really.
LET’S GO BOYS!
Corvo pushed him. Clearly.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
right fn on
Shhhhhhh! I’m supposed to be working now – GO HABS!

Don’t argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.
No way we can keep this up…Halak is awesome…poor guy is in the shooting gallery…
Habs need to take charge and generate some offense…we got 9 + minutes to go…can’t play it all in our end…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
First of all, you’re assuming that we couldn’t have won without Halak starting. And you know what they say about assuming…
Jaro was a big part, especially over the last three games, but this was a TEAM win, and nothing less.
And Washington, even with the high shot totals, only led for 55 minutes in the entire series. They didn’t dominate as much as you would think.

just a matter of time- can’t get the puck out of their zone.
man crush on Halak?
I don’t blame you
I need cardiac paddles, I’m having the big one. Holy shit what a game. McGuire is trying to stay on the Habs side because their going to win this one.
I’m losing my sanity here. I’m sure you could absolutely cut the tension with a knife in that arena in Washington

Gionta nailed right in the face!!! Where’s the call?!?!?
so i believe the caps lost a total of 8 games at home all season including playoffs. We are responsible for at least half of them, lol.
How the hell was that not a penalty.
Marky pinched in…. man he has some cohones
AK46 comes alive, wow!!
That “someone” was gionta… and it could have been called if it wasn’t game 7.
Subban looking to go! Love that guy

Talking about never being able to speak again. All we heard from you all season was we would never make the playoffs,to small,no character,no grit blah blah and more blah and if we accidently did it would be 4 and out. You are the poster boy of “nothing” and should be the last person to criticize anyone else.
forget patrick this is the best goaltending performance that I have ever seen
The guy drops his stick and rams the goalie and no penalty. Just friggin WoW!!!
Someone should do a quick postmortem of the season as another reverse jinx.
LOL

Ohhhhhhhhh Cammy, so close.
We needed that off-side, long shift for us.
Oh man post, here we go time for the final push
I’m going to puke!! For real, lol.
They could gnaw each others’ legs off and there’d be no penalties now.
Did anyone just hear, “Get off the ****” ” “Get outta here!” It was on Versus.
And Cammalleri – POST!
We’ve got at least one more goalcoming this game cuz Subban doesn’t have a point yet.
JM sucks, Gill is useless, we’re too small. No defense. Better off tanking….
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Boone’s About Last Night, just about says it all.
Beautiful!! YA HOO!!
I cant take much more of this…….

i’ll bet season tickets that the caps get a PP with under 3 min to play
No penalties being called so lets protect the net.
I’m starting a new business – relaxation techniques for game 7s — included, open bar, medical marijuana, opiates, massage.
I’m calling it Boone, Inc.
Whose with me?
The Caps are the Hab’s bitches.
Hal Gill for Captain………………………………………………………….
somebody better check the temperature in hell because a) We’re alive! and b) I swear to God I saw Timo smile tonight!
Halak is awsome. No doubt he is a keeper. I hope we can keep Price too…
This is a terrible precedent, what’s to stop the league now from renaming other trophies after this amateur move by a Player’s association that can’t keep their act together for 10 minutes?
Do not tamper with the history of the NHL, our trophies are sacred in name and design.

A lot of you, including Boone, need to EAT CROW. There was nothing posted here but how the Habs were pretty much Capital doormats, but some, including me, called this two weeks ago.

It’s goinna be tough…………
What size skates does Gill wear? 15?
Yes!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had a G.M too. Saved only for special occasions.
I tend to disagree Chuck, I am not assuming but these are the facts.
This was the big show, the Halak show, any player will tell you on the Habs or fans that Halak stole the series for us.
Just ask Boudreau.
Would we have won the series with Price in the nets? Highly unlikely.
If you have a hot goalie like Halak, you can go very far in the playoffs.
Halak was stopping everything.

GO HABS GO
DOMINIC MOOOOOREEEE!!!!!!!
YES!!!
TOTALLY WORTH THAT SECOND ROUND PICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Lappy’s best two games of the season!
YOU’RE WORTH EVERY PICK WE HAVE MOORE!!!

Thank you Habs. It took a friggin long time, but they have gelled.
ok guys,nothing stupid. No penalties
Slowest icing call again… that could have been played

LOVE THIS TEAM!!!

Hang in there. That was just a late April snowfall. Yup. That’s all it was.
It was not in front of the net, it was earlier near the hash marks. If your watching the TSN replays it happens right at the start of the replay.
It’s a MAB MAB world.
Did we call a time out yet?
IF YOU GUYS BLOW THIS, I WILL NEVER EVER EVER FORGIVE YOU. YOU HEAR ME HABS? YOU HEAR ME?
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
I’m not the type of person who would say “I TOLD YOU SO”..but on April 22,after the Habs went down 3-1 in games to the Caps I posted this:
“IMHO the Habs have the Caps EXACTLY where they want them. Habs in 7.”
this is going to be the longest 2 minutes ever.

This is why we call it hockey. But it would have been a good time for a time-out.
Gamecenter Live feed died right after Moore’s goal…keep me updated please?!
Tense!
Why why why is 57 on the ice in the last two? Unreal.
Oh Jesus!!
Well. So much for the upset. Good night everyone!
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
I dont know why some are on your case about this, I agree with you totally. Without exceptional goaltending, the habs have a very hard time winning some games.
Oh my..
Of course the Caps get a PP with less then 2 min to go.

I’d have to take a pay cut. And do they get RDS at 24 Sussex Drive?
Cardiac Canadiens… they made me sweat
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
Competely stunned. What a complete choke by the Caps and some valiant sacrifice by the Habs players. Amazing. Again, just stunned.

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
You know its not the most exciting hockey but boy is it ever nice to see the lead after 2. This team is all for one and one for all. Great chemistry being shown and boy is Halak showing his stuff. There is not as much net crashing as I felt there would be but we have one more period of nerve racking hockey before the boys take on Sid.
ok….so who sold their soul?
I think during the handshake when halak and ovy go to shake hands, halak should shake his hand nervously

given that this is the biggest game of their lives to this point i cannot imagine how Pouliot, and AK could play so poorly….the effort level seems almost non-existant.
Bruce Boudreau face was priceless.
This has been one of the gutsiest demonstrations of TEAM with a big T
I am SO proud of this team
They have to start making plays with the puck instead of just dumping it out

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dumping and having 2 deep and one back is the perfect way to play the Caps.
They are a team that feeds off of neutral zone turnovers to creat odd-man rushes.
What you suggest would be suicide.
Oh, boy! The Caps are going to be playing with “l’énergie du désespoir” — Hang on, Jaro!
Who’s shaking now, Alex?
What a team. Toughest game to watch in a long time.

Wow!

Maybe he hasn’t gotten into the flow because of limited shifts.
wow…. am I ever releved. I had said Habs in 6, but will take it in 7.
Here we go, another series.
I never, in a million years, was expecting this. What a team.

These period breaks are taking forever… why does 15 minutes feel like 15 hours :S
Actions speak louder than words and the habs sent the message loud and clear to the Caps all the way to the golf course.
Y’all trying to
get me fired? — I bet everyone is in bars right now.
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Please no riots in Montreal… Take it to Toronto at least, lol.
I can’t believe they have to put this behind them and prepare for a game on Friday..how will we pull off the parade?!
get me fired?”
Habs!
Way to make us all proud.
I believe.
Pull my finger!
I’m speechless.

Anyone good at lip reading Boudreau’s reaction?
Aquinas, Decartes and the Habs. Three proofs for the existence of God. Better get my sorry ass to Mass on Sunday.
Its a team of underdogs;
- A 9th round pick who was the back-up goalie to begin the season and who was nearly traded, was the series MVP.
- A UFA sigining mid-way thru the season of an undersized Dman with a rocket launcher for a shot, scored the opening marker.
- A maligned trade of a second round pick for an ex-Leaf and brother of the defendent, scored the winning goal.
- Now a season of maddening inconsistency has been now absolved. The feeling? Absolute Euphoria!
Fatso is losing it…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAH! Unf*kinbelievable!
Halak MVP of series. Any ?’s
Lucky break, can’t lose composure now.
anyone have defib paddles? man o man! giant effort boys! WE BE VERY PROUD!
So much for conspiracies!
Caps in 3! in fact that was right. they won 3 games!!!
Did that really just happen
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
How happy did Halak look when we won?
I actually heard him scream!

Monday was not a good day with the lady, we were upset at each other, but the Habs won. I think I’m gonna pick a fight with her again tonight.
Miles is awesome. Having said that, he was a Nordiques fan.
Try Cannonball Adderley. Bleu-blanc-rouge to the end.
You think you guys have long to wait?! I’m living in Italy have been up since 6 a.m. in morning here and only 10.30 pm now and still got to wait till 1 am for puck to drop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody notice that all three Vezina award nominees – Brodeur, Miller, Bryzgalov – are already out of the playoffs?
Holy Crap…2 moure freakin hours…i cant take this anymore…i’m too nervous and excited!GO HABS!

I think all men are pros at that. Funny thing is we never know what the hell we did for them to freak out. So what if I left the toilet seat up. Next time they use the bathroom, i expect them to put the toilet seat up before they leave.
Just noticed i misspelled “more” haha..see that’s how nervous i am..can’t even type properly!
not excited anymore, just scared.
– YES HABS CAN!! –
My girlfriend?

In the words of Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins’ Tonight, Tonight:
Time is never time at all
You can never ever leave without leaving a piece of youth
And our lives are forever changed
We will never be the same
The more you change the less you feel
Believe, believe in me, believe
That life can change, that you’re not stuck in vain
We’re not the same, we’re different tonight
Tonight, so bright
Tonight
And you know you’re never sure
But you’re sure you could be right
If you held yourself up to the light
And the embers never fade in your city by the lake
The place where you were born
Believe, believe in me, believe
In the resolute urgency of now
And if you believe there’s not a chance tonight
Tonight, so bright
Tonight
We’ll crucify the insincere tonight
We’ll make things right, we’ll feel it all tonight
We’ll find a way to offer up the night tonight
The indescribable moments of your life tonight
The impossible is possible tonight
Believe in me as I believe in you, tonight
Was there for game 1, back tonight, should be a good one. Rocking the white vintage habs jersey.
Tooooo funny!
Great song dude.

Good point, at least it wasn’t the Leafs. I will be listening to some live Miles/Coltrane from now till game time.
Smashing video! Thanks!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
chucks girlfriend,lol j/k,
On monday i drank three different tall boys, a different one each period. So today i hit the beer store and bought the exact same three brands of beer to drink, one during each period. I even bought an extra 4th beer, in case of overtime.
The beer i chose to drink for the 3rd period is called Tiger. aka Eye of the Tiger, aka smash the big Russian aka beat ovechkin and the caps.
superstitions will end me.
Smack + Down Time = Nordiques Fan.
That Cannonball story is outstanding.
Satisfaction came in a chain reaction
Ovie’s not enough, so he had to self-destruct
The heat was on, Habs rising to the top
Everybody is going strong, and that is when Halak got hot
I heard somebody say
Burn baby burn! Verizon inferno!
Burn baby burn! The Caps are meltin’ down!
Burn baby burn! Verizon inferno!
Burn baby burn! The Caps are meltin down!
Burnin’!!!
Fearless predictions: the Caps jump out to an early 2-0 lead. The Habs hang on and then answer back with 1 in the second. The Caps score to open the third and the Habs come back with two goals late to send it into OT. Brian Gionta nets the winner… 4-3 Habs.
Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Not gonna dive, Not gonna dive,

obviously we need a backup plan since the servers will crash if the habs win

anyway, and now back to regular programming…

“Darth Halak…”
“Yes Master?”
“Rise!”
Jacques Martin tonight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwwD03F_OTA
it’s a mab mab world
Pretty good job defensivelythis period. 11 shots is a lot better than almost 20 per period. I would like them to win some more battles on the boards.
Who are these guys? Pea pods have landed and they’ve taken over our players!!!!!!
Calmes-toi, un ‘tit peu!
FULL MAB, FULL MAB, FULL MAB, FULL MAB, FULL MAB
Good News – Any time you’re ahead after the 1st on the road is a good omen. The refs have called a neutral game so far. Halak is in the zone. Semin and Green are still snakebitten.
Bad News – We’re getting outplayed. The Pleks line is brain dead so far.
umm…..nice rack

Nah Mr. Boone, that’s a difficult task. I can’t calm down either – it’s a Game F. Seven!
Ouf! My little heart is going pitter-patter…
And this time AK missed the bus.
Habs are the Little Team That Could.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
is ak46 planning to wake up or is still on his first vodka
OK so keep MAB on the bench except for PP time, don’t be stupid and reward him with 15+mins
More PK on the PP…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Makes for sloppy hockey. No wonder they don’t sell out even game 7′s.
Jeez, hes been brutal, Problems clearing the zone and skating like hes got a pant load, Falling down a lot also

I still haven’t gotten my voice back from Game 6. But that’s not going to stop me – GO HABS GO!!
designated shooter!
Hall Gill is awsome tonight.
someone tell Pouliot and AK46 this is game 7. everyone needs to show up. More goals too, don’t sit back. The caps will be coming.
Outmuscled in the first, maybe, but certainly not outsmarted…
Quick sign Phil Espisito!
The designated scorer rule…….
AK — what skill! — but he only seems to have 1 gear! come ON Andrei, kick it!!
Its easy when you compare 20 rinks to 6,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
True. I just hope we don’t go into a defensive shell. We’ve learned our lesson.
Dirty job??? Anything but as a pp guy all he has to do is hit the net… Hal gill and Josh gorges have dirty jobs playing d on the pp is in no way a dirty job c’mon man. Love his shot but what he does on the pp is not grunt work it’s all skill and flash.
Thoughts:
- Moore has been great for us. I want him back.
- Gorges is great.
- Halak kept us in it. How can he NOT be our #1 next year?
- Gomez is playing his heart out.
- We need to outmuscle these guys. They’re dominating us with ease.
–
Thank You Saku.
It’s my heart that I am worried about.
If we could keep MAB next year at the same price, I’d gladly take him. He’s a PP specialist, and losing Streit killed our PP.
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
pinching PK puts one away. (bold prediction)
So close… if that went in.
Once again, terrible ice conditions. The puck hardly slides. It keeps sticking as players try to carry it.

We need to be WAY stronger defensively… If anyone thinks this 1-0 lead is gonna hold up they have issues.
We were severely outplayed and outworked in the first period.
MABBY! We fogive you for everything…. WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey MAB haters ” THATS WHY HE PLAYS”!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bergeron, our Ovmunchkin.

YEAH SHAKER, LETS HEAR FROM YOU NOW!
Walker in:
Whom will he run first, Halak or Markov? — probably both at the same time. hope the puck doesn’t go with them into the net. More important, i hope moore, moen, lappy dish it out at the other end
That’s a game! We are the champs!
Now, back to waiting for Habs to make my day!!!!

Boone’s had the Lovin’ Spoonful song stuck in my head since yesterday: one of my favourite songs all-time! Here’s a clip of it on the Ed Sullivan Show (lip-sync).
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
Who is Walker replacing? Is it Fleischman? Regardless….the problem with the Habs D is that they can handle shooters…they cannot handle crashers…Boudreau said it himself: they get good shots on net and nothing goes in, but what they do score on is a deflection of a puck that was going to miss the net.
O’Byrne, Gorges, Gill, Hamrlik, Subban, Markov and Bergeron better be ready to throw a lot of people to the ground.
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
Bergeron?? lol
the best he can do is block the puck with his face
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
The Habs also do not need the first goal…they need the first two or three…
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
I live in South Dakota, USA. My future boss likely won’t even be a hockey fan. I hear rumors that there is a second Habs fan in my town of 25,000, but I haven’t met him.
man.. why is today of all days time figures out how to go backwards.

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
Shave it off. You need a job more than the Habs need a good-luck beard!
But if they lose, I’m going to hunt you down and kill you. (That’s legal in South Dakota, right?)
The pundits are at it again:
http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/33280-Top-Shelf-Can-Canadiens-win-Game-7-or-will-logic-prevail.html
http://espn.go.com/nhl/blog/_/name/nhl_playoffs/id/5142682/habs-versus-caps
The Hockey News believes that the Caps will slaugther the Habs and ESPN is so unsure they are not even bothering to flip a coin.
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
No, only legal to kill native americans still. Thats just a law from the 1800′s that wouldn’t stand up in court though. Thank god, I like my room mate, even if he is a flyers fan.
I think i’ll just grab applications at jobs I think will accept my beard today. I’m applying at a pawn shop, like they care.
if spacek plays does that mean subban is out?
i dont think I can watch the game…it’s too intense. i’m scared for my health..
kcot-ckit, kcot-kcit….
Enjoy the ride folks, we are far from the end of the road.
habz–Don’t worry, all the heart attacks will be in Washington tonight!
Us knocking off the Caps will likely bring in a real coach to the organization, that’s going to power up the Capitals for next season I imagine.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

i am going to miss part of the game due to night school
i finished my classes at Concordia but am doing prereqs at nights.. you have no idea how much taht sucks.
go habs go.. they better pull this off
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
He’s not! it’s official!
– YES HABS CAN!! –
That being said i hope we beat Washington tonight
GO HABS GO
SOURCE?
I really hope so Ian!

Hah, I’m in Aberdeen, and have a similar tattoo at a similar spot (left arm for me).
I’ve already made plans with hockey fans here. we should hold a Dakota’s Canadiens fans gathering though. Maybe during the parade everyone keeps talking about.
They had the pedal to the metal all night long on Monday….. I expect no less from the Capitals tonight.
I think the Habs want me to lose lots of weight. My gut’s been churning since game 2!
Where’s the Imodium?
Oh habs….please win. Hasn’t been much excitement in my life lately and this would just make my month…
Thanks Dear.
If Scott Walker plays tonight…the Habs better be ready to clear the area around Halak with more than stick checks and nudges…Poti being out can help but Alzner has played well when called up…there has to be a way to turn Poti’s absence into an advantage.
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
You have your priorities out of order my friend, education is not what it is cracked up to be. Look where 4 years at McGill took Boone.
That is a picture of him up top.!
Scott Walker was added to do ONE thing and that is crash the net. I agree that Halak better be prepared to be interfered with big time.
common Habs lets pull this off.
i got night school tonight so i will be sticking around downtown to watch the game
let’s hope for a win

Hats off to all the Habs fans in the Dakotas! I’ll be watching in San Francisco.
I’m not even half way in my final exam studying for tomorrow morning… I just can’t focus, this is insane!
And I’m talking about last class exam before graduation here. Ahhh..well, I guess I’m confused about my priorities here.
– YES HABS CAN!! –
“Playing in front of their rabid home fans, many of whom understand the offside rule, the Caps’ shot total could hit 60.”……Love it!

Another fitting song for tonight!
Including because he’s at the Bell tonight.
so walker is in – added to knuble, chimera, et al. hope we see some knock-down defense around the crease. ugly goals count, and the bouncing-banking-trickling ones are killers. i guess the first period halak is going to see an onslaught of pucks, sticks, bodies and skates
If we’re bringing out songs for tonight, here’s the one I’d like to here in my head say 5-6 times:

BENCH AK46!!!
Unreal eh? I can’t see anyone else on the team dogging it yet he gets a regular shift and can’t keep his head in the play.
Halak raising his game. He’s a leader on the team too.
Saw two plays where a Caps d-man did something similar on Gionta and Cammalleri that Gorges did to get the penalty.
Sadly have to concur. AK is just an accident waiting to happen out there. Put Pouliot on that line, at least he is playing with some passion.
What ever it takes to get AK off the ice, he’s terrible tonight. a lot of glitter, no gold
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
It’s time to shorten the bench… and the shifts
Win the next period one shift at a time.
Win this period, win the series… it’s that simple.
Go Boys Go
Lots of shots against in that period, but the PK was heroic. Everything on the outside. Hopefully the Caps tired themselves out with all of the skating they did in that period.
We absolutely MUST NOT sit back this period. Play to win and get the next one lads, don’t sit back and play not to lose.
Halak’s trade value goes up… YAY!
What can you say about Halak and the shot blocking Habs. The PK has been absolutely heroic. WE NEED THAT GO AHEAD GOAL!!!
Come on boys. One more miracle period here.
yes, I saw the one for sure.
And a few offsides for Wash that were not called
You can just smell an all-out caps shooting gallery in the last 4 minutes of this game… Is Halak up to the task? Cause it dont look like the rest of these guys have what it takes to stop Ovechin and Co.
THERE IS ONE IN EVERY CROWD! JUST WOW DUDE!
You can always point out things refs do wrong. Overall, I think they are doing a good job though tonight.

AK46 and Metro looked brutal. Sit them in the third.
Tough to keep the shifts short when you’re pinned in your own end in the second period.

Dude, OK whats your move, Moore, Lapps Pyatt, its gotta be someone, Im no Einstein,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
How can Pittsburgh and Chicago call up seven players each. Anyone know?
It’s just too funny. Hab fans. Awesome.
I feel the same way about Metro. Perhaps it would be a good idea to take him off the PP?
are their farm teams out of the playoffs?
I agree, but calls are calls. If you make one at one end, make it at the other.
They are stopping Ovechkin and Co. Where have you been?
I’ll check.
Yup.

He also called PK “unflappable.”
so close to making it 2-0
Not a bad powerplay… that many chances in a game 7 is impressive. Beware the push back.
So close, so close.

Anything can happen. For those of us who were there for the pre-summit game as we saw the Habs defeat this team in an exciting end-to-end match I wish you all a great game tonight.
Whatever the outcome, I will say this, that it’s been a very entertaining series.

The first thing i did when i got home was check who was reffing tonight,it was a huge relief when i didn’t see the name chris lee.
I sure hope that Hickeys car dying is not a sign of things to come for us Hab fans tonight.
How ironic.

too funny. Just saw the new commercial on tsn.
Ok, then, off to miss the first period.
When I return home, I fully expect to see the Habs enjoying a comfortable lead, Booboo screaming all over Ovie, and both Varly and Theo pulled.
Nothing less will do.

Go HABS! Finish off those Arrogant Caps for good!
Either way, you sounded as sexy as ever!!
When the Habs wrap this up, they will have won three games on the road. Anyone know if a team down 3-1 has ever done that before?

I don’t think it’s happened in an 8th seed vs. 1st seed matchup (8th seed making the come-back).
Stelio Kontos!
I still miss SAKU ,too.Any chance they will get him back. His contract was only for one year. Its still not the same with OUR CAPTAIN!
Ummm… what about against the Bruins a few years back?
That was us!
2004!
We can’t afford to have any candy asses or timmy tykes on the ice during game 7.
almost 300 posts and still 45 minutes til the puck drops!!!! Oy oy oy!!!!

Smells like 2004 everyone!
Kind of makes for an interesting story here. The Caps, top scoring team in the league, have to go for extra muscle to try and beat the Habs, one of the lowest scoring teams. Desperation move?
no it wasn’t. Mtl was 7th and Bos was 2nd…
Meh, might aswell be the same thing.
I thought the Gazette pic was the same one as on HIO
The same. 450,000 km and purring like a kitten

On december 18th, in the middle of a 5 game losing streak, this guy said the habs would turn it around and make the playoffs.
Nope, the guy on the gazette site looks like a crazed old rocker who did too much lsd.

It’s coming!!! 20 minutes!
Take a look at this…..

An imposter? I’ll tell you one thing, I wouldn’t stand for it!!!
Wasn’t that the Subbanator pic?
rds at chez serge. beer sales must be through the roof tonight across the city.
Not really. Smart and predictable roster move by the Caps. When facing a hot goalie common wisdom is crowd and crash the net for cheap goals.
The question is? Can the Habs and Halak fight through those big bodies in the crease all night and will the refs call goalie interference?
Where’s his car going?
Just not to Caps in game two..
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Spacek is on the ice with team according to Stubbs.
Thoughts on this? Who sits? PK? MAB? I felt PK was an asset to the team Monday night.
Well if the gods are cruel, PK sits. but I think God is a Habs fan of late, PK has to dress for tonight.

I hope they sit MAB I dont think my heart can take having him on the ice tonight.

Reverse jinx here goes!
Martin needs to get canned in the off season.
Our team is too small.
Gomez is paid too much.
Price should get the start tonight because Halak can only beat weak teams.
Who should be draft in the first round this year?
_______
“Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.”
I feel MTL is playing the OLD JM way right now, passive, waiting for chances etc…scaring me
Were doomed, Bettman is in the crowd
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Crap.. Come on, Cammy — get the puck out of there. It’s not hard, the glass is your friend!
Thank God I don”t have any tests today…I’ve been sooo nervous all day…its not even funny! I feel sick to my stomach! I wasn’t this nervous even for Game 7 against Boston 2 years ago.
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
A SHG would be nice here
great work by gio getting that puck out.
ohhh close
HALAK!
Hal Gill is a beast. He won a cup for a reason.
Long shift for Gio, no quit in him.
good kill boys

Thats what happens when you play to much in your own end.
Oh my…

B/s call.
If the linesman didn’t obstruct the puck, the puck would be deep in the Caps’ zone right now. Great job, Bettman.
Bettman shakes 35 times = Habs penalty
Bettman shakes 36 times = diving call against Mtl
Bettman shakes 37 times = ref, physically block the puck when advanced by a Habs player
Another big kill, things getting hairy.
Believe in the PK folks, it will hold.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

Okay. Time for us to get a shortie. A garbage goal. A nice greasy one.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
This team can win this game…but not if we are going to play the rest of the night in our end…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Good thing there is a TV timeout, JM can settle his boys down here and the PK’ers can get rest.
Don’t break down here, boys! Keep the plays simple, get it in deep, take shots on Varly.
Caps raising the level of intensity and draw a second penalty. TV timeout is time for the Habs to regroup and for me to rebeer.
I was cursing the linesman also. How hard it is to get out of the way when you can jump up on the boards.
If they kill this we win ( I hope ).
My jangled nerbes cant handle this.

you going to schanks tonight?
Does the 2nd round pick score that goal?
Another lame icing call…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
We can’t shut down now, you never know, they pot one with 1 min to go and we’re in for a bumpy ride
OMG MOORE!!!!!!!!!! What a goal ! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
everything forward and stop icing the god damn puck
The guy owes us big time after the screw-job we got – if it weren’t for him, the Habs would be in the second round already.
damn it
I am making a petition to have Provincial holidays when the Habs are in the playoffs.
arguments:
1. Clearly this is all that matters and is the only important thing going on in the world.
thats all.

2. Can’t get any work done anyway, because we spend all day at the office reading habs blogs.
And make it a National holiday.
Make it a national law and I’m on it like a fat kid on a smartie!
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Had to happen eventually.
Who is on your jersey? Just curious
we all woke up with the same stomach ache dude. try cuz i drove all the way out here and now i’m pumped to meet the legend that is… timo
23 – gainey
Theres something eerily appropriate about that… Hope you feel better and have a blast watching the Habs play tonight Timo… And when you are blasting the team incessantly in a month from now, we’re all going to direct you to this day where the Habs put themselves in a position to pull off one of THE biggest upsets in sports history. Here’s hoping!
From Japers’ Rink, an excerpt:
“This team didn’t win 54 games in the regular season by accident; they did so by being better - better than every other team in the League. Certainly better than Montreal and its under-sized (and under-skilled) forwards, slow-footed blueliners, inexperienced goaltenders..”
Think there’s panic here???
Yeah, as if their blueliners are any more mobile, not too mention much worse as a group than Montreal’s. Montreal has shown this series just how absolutely pitiful Washington’s defence is, they can be exploited by a speedy forward group such as Montreal’s
What speed and hustle by Moen!
Mike “Norris candidate” Green with the penalty.
Come on boys!
So I say…win or lose……there’s reason to be proud.
but for the love of God…PLEASE WIN!!!! :P
Atta boy Moen!

Mike,
Saw your good and great friend Mr.Hickey on TSN last night. I understand he probably didn’t have time to pull his lucky sweater on for television, but at the very least he could have shaved.
I’m sure if Jack Todd had been on, he would have worn his sunglasses.
WTF is up with AK46. I mean seriously is playing like timid little boy. We need him.
He can be hot, he can be cold. Tonight he’s dazed and confused.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Jaro. Best breakout pass of the series for the Habs!
the canadiens will win
agreed
Why did AK46 take so long to go to the net?
So are we habsolutely sure Halak is Slovakian or is he from another Planet?

“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
No PK, No round 2. Are you listening JM??
Caps lines: Ovi-Backstrom-Knuble, Laich-Morrison-Semin, Chimera-Belanger-Fehr, Bradley-Gordon-Walker.
