I’ve gone every year since moving out here 5 years ago, except last year (and was glad I missed it)…
But I’ve got my tickets for next week’s tilt! Its going to be one crazy hockey weekend for me… flying into Calgary tomorrow night for the Alumni game and the Heritage classic, then back to Vancouver on Monday and the Canucks-Habs game Tuesday night! WOOOO!
I am flying down with the family to VAn to see the game too. For the cost of the tickets, flights and hotels for me and my three girls, i just know that the boys will pull the vancouver game off.
I’ll be in 307, big Yukoner with three young blond girls. Cheering loud.
I kinda like it. I’m diggin’ the between period vid-caps and it probably lessens the server load from all the refreshing. Mike doesn’t have to compete for bandwidth this way.
I don’t understand. You DON’T need to refresh, so this feature alone makes the new live blogging better. Welcome to 2011 and real time refreshing a-la-twitter
Hello everyone! I AM PUMPED! Going to the game, haven’t seen the boys play live for years. (Been pretty much useless here at work all day haha!). Should be a great time, me and my son (unfortunately he’s an Oiler fan). I told him he now gets his first opportunity to see and hear the Habs fans out cheer the Oiler fans in their own building! An Oiler beatdown will make for a perfect evening!
With their D, there’s no way they can see the Cup Finals unless PHI has devastating injuries. They don’t have the D any more than MTL does and they don’t have our goaltending either.
If you’re an Oiler fan, the good news is that Khabibulin won his start on Tuesday against Dallas by a score of 4-1.
If you’re a Hab fan, the good news is that Khabibulin’s win was his first of 2011. In fact, he had lost 14 straight (before Tuesday) going all the way back to Dec 16th.
There are never any excuses for not taking two points from a bottom-feeder. The Oilers rank 30th in terms of their home record, PP and PK stats. It’s also our first contest of the western swing which should be the easiest game to win.
The boys better be ready for this game, you know the opposition will be up for an all Canadian matchup. With the game being on CBC also, it’d be nice to force them to say something positive about Montreal by us whooping the Oilers. Playing on the best ice tonight should be ideal for our team, skate skate skate
I bet you the live blog change was PK’s suggestion!
My reverse jinx statement is that I think this game is going to turn into a track meet. This will not be good for our D.
I know it wasn’t hi-light reel spectacular, but the goal Maxpac’s crammed in the side pocket the other night was one of my favourite in a while. “Get out of my way” players have been missing from the Habs roster for far too long. He’s definitely an untouchable. Then again, 1995 wasn’t just a bad dream.
If you haven’t seen this video of him jumping, check it out. He could almost jump on top of Gionta’s head!
I see a sweep of Western Canada coming, they have not seen much of “the New Price”, PK Superstar or A Habs team with a power forward(MaxPac). We will shock and awe them with our finesse and the system.
there is a reason why this team is 24th in goals scored and 26th on the road…we should be happy at the position they are in the standings…if we analyze the individual talent on this team we should be much lower in the standings…
Why is it all these washed up goalies OWN the Habs… Really, Khabibulin??? Who else? Giguere always beats Habs (Ok not last saturday), Biron, Vokoun, Hedberg…
this is the type of game when the team is not playing well when your best forwards have to be the difference makers…gion limited appearance today…plecks another no show game…i like plecks but i am not sure he is really a star player just above average…
Boone, you of all people should know , any team can beat any other team in this league. Especially a team missing most of our D, Cammy and then losing wiz. Thats why you play the games as they say. Cavs beat Lakers last night. Its sports. Get over it and move on to Calgary. God, when did Habs fans become such beeotch’s?
How embarrassing losing to the Oilers….it wouldn’t shock me if the Habs lose the next 3 as well let’s see Calgary will be pumped for the HC, Vancouver’s the best team in the league and the Leafs will be pissed from the shutout last Saturday. Disappointing and not to make excuses but the injuries have killed this season half are team should be in the playing in the minors.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
Suspendable? And you call my opinion stupid? Wow, not only is your opinion clearly stained with the teams colors through and through, but there is ZERO chance that gets a suspension, nor should it. It won’t even be mentioned. Don’t embarrass yourself anymore then you have already.
This game was pretty much a perfect storm against the Canadiens. On a night where for one of the few times this year Carey has some quite ordinary moments, an already woefully depleted defense loses their second-last ‘veteran’ halfway through the first and is forced to play the rest of the game short-handed, the Habs miss two open nets and can’t generate anything more that one greasy goal against the 30th team in the league.
It happens. And I’d much rather it happen against a team from the west.
But at least it looks like the Habs have found their enforcer.
Thats really funny, because I have never once in my life said Gomez is awesome, or anything close to saying Eller is garbage. Take a look at the last couple posts we had back and forth and you’ll realize you just make yourself look like an idiot. Isn’t it past your bed time? You remind me of an annoying little kid who never knows when to shut up. You’ve been starting shit all night and none of your posts even make any sense.
I’m saying your opinion is stupid. You’d be better served by trying somebody else. I’m not going to continue to argue something so one sided. It was a dirty hit, suspendable in fact, defintely worthy of a penalty. And if you think Pouliot was trying to sell it, I don’t really have much time for you. And that’s not because of a difference of opinion, it’s because of a lack of brain power on your end.
Wrong. The Habs are a very good team, it’s just that they’re pretty much the unluckiest team in the league when it comes to converting scoring chances.
Now usually this balances out over a long period, but I’m sick and tired of them dominating chances and not scoring. Unfortunately, there is nothing they can do about it but keep trying.
I’m still trying to figure out what the heck P.K. Subban was thinking. Maybe it’ll come to me overnight. If this ends in a loss and people need a goat, I think we’ve got to start with #76 because that was one heck of a massively stupid play.
He was thinking of doing exactly what he did, he stripped Hall of the puck and was about to send it the other way, but sometime the other team has smart players like Eberle who was supporting Hall and took the puck back. It was unfortunate, it was far from dangerous or stupid. That goal was an amazing play by Eberle and that’s all.
If he really is the missing piece to the Habs puzzle I’m not optimistic about anything related to this franchise. I can’t believe the comments that came through about people missing him today. I’m curious what they’re missing. The reluctance to hit, the bad defensive zone turnovers, the bad penalties, the lack of confidence or the fact that he was only worth having on the ice when Markov was his partner or we need a fight.
The blown Ws vs the Isles and the Sabres piss me off more then this game … but regardless, Its all bad. I feel like the Bruins game broke this teams manhood, very much similar to what Lucic did to Komi a few years back. There traumitized.
Yep. And he’s been working hard and playing fairly well for the last 30 games. But he and the players around him aren’t finishing, usually because of him. He’s been cold too long.
If you’ve got nothing but personal attacks to contribute, maybe you should take a deep breath and go do something else? You are seriously going to argue about a difference of opinion? Really?
Regardless, Plekanec is not a game-breaker. The Habs play a team game and no one player often makes the difference. He wasn’t the reason they lost tonight and he shouldn’t be made a scapegoat at all for any of the team’s troubles tonight or this season.
Maturity must be to constantly cry about hits, refs and whatever else has your diaper all filled. I will endeavor to learn from you and JMVINNY. Two bigger whiners you would be hard pressed to find.
That’s actually what Adrian Dater, the beat guy who follows the Avalanche has been saying about OB lately “Taking his customary one bad penalty per game.”
its a bad combination if your a team that cannot score and win on the road…maybe what we need is to play the flyers and be major underdogs in the playoffs….we play well vs top teams because we are not a good team but have the chemistry and makeup to cause top teams problems…when we play lower teams there is little difference in talent…
What a joke NHL officiating is. 7 Habs get high sticked over the course of 8 minutes and they’re all ignored, and then we get called for a phantom slash. What a farce.
Translation: He’s never been on the receiving end of a hit like that and hasn’t given one out and had to deal with somebody filling his face so full of fist that he was crapping out fingernails the next morning.
I was just saying, what everyone else was saying, when Gomez was injured this season. Did you not notice? They actually did struggle when he was out. He does fly into the O zone untouched quite easily. Im not trying to defend his terrible season he is having. I was just stating a fact. I dunno what it is with some of you guys putting words in my mouth but god its annoying….
Ah yes. The good old mommy and daddy line. That one never gets old. Unfortunately, everything else you say does. You hate the Habs. We get it. Cheapshots don’t exist in hockey. We get it.
Night and Day. And kudos to him for quickly realizing that the fancy stuff he got away with in Windsor wouldn’t work in the NHL. He’s adapted his game quite well, and it hasn’t just been him adjusting to the speed of the game. He’s becoming a very good player.
What is with you? Show me where I said anything remotely close to saying ANYTHING about it being Ellers fault. I said he’s been struggling this season. You put words into my mouth on my last two posts, find someone else to argue with. Moron.
Coming from a guy who does nothing but toss personal attacks and in the same breath cry like a spoiled little brat about the Refs and how they are “screwing the Habs”. Give it a rest. Go have some warm milk and see if mommy or daddy can tuck you in early.
This team is not good enough to seize a golden opportunity when it stares them in the face ,can not beat 3oth place team .They are a disgrace to the CH.
Came down to a few too many brain farts and two really soft goals. Give credit to Bulin he robbed the boys on some good chances. Hey at least Gomez looked good! Good for Pouliot sticking up for himself, since the incompetant referres once again couldn’t do their job
See, there I don’t disagree with you at all. This team IS a hell of a long way from the hunt. And yes, they rely way too much on Price to bail their asses out of the fire. The D is held together with spit, glue and a prayer. To make matters worse, the highest paid guy on the squad sucks squirrel nuts. You and I go harder to the opposition net then the guys who suit up!
Actually this is completely in his character. Hablifting basically disagrees with anyone saying any hit is dirty, and then calls them a pansy/pussy/girl after, to drive home the fact that he’s 7 years old.
You’re a moron. Someone who is “looking for a call” doesn’t get up and immediately throw a cross-check to the head, and then repeated haymakers after that. STFU.
He’s just being an idiot Andrew. That was blantantly dirty. No wait, I’m wrong, it’s much more logical to insist that Pouliot hurled himself into the boards face first to get a call trailing by 2 goals and under 90 seconds left in the game.
Again, you are welcome to your opinion. I disagree. No need to get your panties in a bunch. No doubt you are one of these guys who sees no fault in anything the Habs do and all fault in the actions of other teams. Must be nice to watch a game so blinded.
“Here we go. The dreaded west, where the Canadiens have won four of their last 25.”
Boone, your point underlines a secret fear of mine: If we were to ride the miracle train to the Finals, is there any way we wouldn’t arrive at a dead end?
If you couldn’t tell by Horcoff’s stick being buried in Pouliot’s back, while skating into him, the bloodied face of #57 should have been indication enough that Pouliot wasn’t trying to sell it.
Dumbest comment I’ve read today by far. And that includes Shilo’s Price was down too early on the goals comment.
The habs had there chance two nights ago … they could have enjoyed 2 days first in the NE and 3rd in the East … but they blew that game and they blow tonight. Story of the Montreal Canadiens since 94.
You said no passengers tonight. Yet tonight, he was a passenger. There is no disputing that he’s our best skater, but he didn’t show up to play tonight.
I, for one, am proud of the team’s effort tonight. No passengers. How can you keep winning when 5 of your top 6 defensemen and elite sniper are injured? How can you keep winning when your best defenseman left is a 36-year-old who is logging 25 to 30 minutes/game? As good as Subban is, he’s still a rookie and its noticeable at least once or twice a game.
I commend the effort level but lets face reality. This team is no longer equipped to make a meaningful playoff run and do more than stumble down the stretch and pray the bleeding stops.
Gomez cares and you can see it when he gets frustrated and forces a play. You can criticize him for his production, but never his effort. Same goes for nearly every player on the team.
It makes me wonder… with all this trade talk – is it even worth it? Why trade assets for short-term fixes? I know management has an obligation to make every effort to win – especially in a city like Montreal – but is riding it out and reloading for next season such a bad idea?
I’m liking Pouliot’s emotion he’s pissed at the game in general. I actually fell alseep for most of the game(it’s been a long day) but from what I understand things just haven’t been going our way.
Gomez seemed to be trying atleast near the end when I was watching, hope it goes better in Calgary.
ooooohhhhhh…..you sure got me there Dean, kudo’s. I bet you’ve been saving that one for awhile huh? Let me know when you get evicted from that shack in Newfieland you live in.
Nah. I just dont whine like a little bitch whenever something happens on the ice. I saw a crosscheck that was sold a little. If you think that’s a dirty hit, that’s fine. No way in hell am I going to agree though.
You know you sound like a broken record. We get it you’re mad at Price. Get over it. He is not the first to let in soft goals and he won’t be the last. Have seen Roy, Dryden let in worse in their career. Even Betty Crocker burns the odd Cake.
we have at least 12 players on the team that are easily interchangeable with hundreds of pro players in north america and world wide…again the results the team has achieved so far is amazing…
Oh, he could tell you why The ocean’s near the shore. He could think of things he never thunk before. And then he’d sit, and think some more. If he only had a brain.
The Bulin Wall was amazing tonight!! He straight shut us down. I know we werent good either so I don’t want to give him that much credit! Eberle scored a beauty, wouldn’t mind having him on our team. AK was quite silent tonight, he is a waste of cap space!! get rid of him PG!!
Price was not so good tonight, not on those crap ass goals that is, Eberles goal was amazing, no chance but the others were god awful!
I am so sick of this mediocrity on offense, The “D” I think played decent tonight..Honestly! Put the biscuit in the Damn basket already! I am afraid we are gonna get humiliated Sunday, on National TV!! Glad I told all my Non hockey watching buddies to watch it!
I’ll be out there tommorow night. I play goal however and my guys are pretty good at keeping the meatheads away from me. Love how you completely ignore my comments concerning your whining about the refs, I guess it’s true so why bother saying otherwise..right?
You can attack PRICE, but god forbid someone stick up for him, and you say they are attacking you…….
Maybe if you didn’t so it EVERY SINGLE FREAKING TIME…. You would have slightly more credibility. But as it stands you sound like a jilted ex, or something. Jumping on him every chance you get.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Actually, I’m going to wait for Olivier’s chances count but I suspect we’ll see what my gut feel tells me was about: the Habs outchancing the opposition again and done in by their chronic inability to buy a goal.
Seems to have been a theme this year. Frustrating, but you can’t ask the Habs to do more than outplay the other guys, really, and eventually their luck must turn.
I’ll be honest, many of you loud HIO posters are lovers of a ‘soft’ brand of hockey. I wouldn’t expect to get much support from you guys. Nor would I want it.
Khabibulin was made to look a lot better than he was. Mediocre rebound control, caught off angle numerous times and bobbled the puck consistently on long shots. Nobody made him pay.
Pouliot tried to sell that push into the boards a little but really nice to see a Hab stand up for themselves. A very rare sight. They’ve largely just rolled over in this game.
Gomez has been better than Pleks tonight, Habs have GOAL SCORING problems! Scott has made some really nice passes, Gionta has played well, but his shot has been horrible.
Good for Pouliot. This is BS. no call on the cross check, but an immediate call on the dive by Horcoff. And this time Pouliot didn’t let up when his man went down.
unluckiest team for the last 160 games now…our scoring has been bad since the beginning of last year…i think you have to look at talent more now than unlucky
U have to insult everyone who doesn’t see your point of veiw right. You started at me from the first day I came here & I have lowered myself to throw insults as you do!
He and Pacioretty have been so impressive. When he(Weber) belted Shelley in the Flyer game it must have given him so much confidence. I like the future. Which is all I like tonight.
How close do we have to be to shoot the puck on the net? We’ve had guys 10 feet away blasting the puck off the boards, I don’t even know how it’s possible to miss the net so much.
Thats pretty much it for me. See you in the AM for the regular, ‘this team will be lucky to make the playoffs’ talk. The bashing of Gomez, JM, PG, and the others.
Forget the fact we have 5 D out and 6 players. Forget the fact we have more AHL players than the Ilsanders did in the preseason game against us…
Stuff like that bugs me. PRICE WENT DOWN TOO EARLY AND IS TOO SOFT, But of course the fact that Subban pinched and got caught up didn’t have anything to do with it. Its not like we don’t have 7 def on the bench………WAIT.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
How long are you gonna whine about the shoot out loss. It’s over get over it. So he let in a couple he would like to have back. Trust me the world will not end. These things happen. Again get over it and don’t harp on it for the next week or so.
A few thoughts begining with: Markov out, Georges out, Gill out, Spacek out, Wiz out.
’nuff said.
Can anyone tell me if Horcoff cross checked Pouliot after he cross checked him back for that vicious boarding? If not the refs seriously dropped the ball on that one. I’m pretty certain that the only reason Pouliot took that penalty was because there was no call on the play.
God we need Cammalleri back, Moen was fed two goals in the 1st and couldnt bury them. Gomez was actually playing rather well, though there were a few times he tried to make passes that he shouldnt have tried …oh yeah and that rush up the middle on the pp… looked like he was going to dish it off to a side board but then kept it instead and then promptly lost the puck.
So how do these D pairings sound to you?
Hammer/Subban
Picard/Weber
Nash/Mara
Or would you see Mara on the 3rd/4th pairing with Picard and Nash as the 5th and 6th? The quiet youth movement is a bit over its head on D I think, but this will hopefully give them a learning experience.
“Tell him he’s Wayne Gretzky.” – Oilers coach Ted Green, after Shaun Van Allen suffered a concussion and couldn’t remember who he was.
Andrew, you can’t argue the fact that he flopped twice tonight so you choose to attack me. Were my eyes playing tricks on me or was he kneeling twice as they flipped it over him?
He doesn’t do it very much anymore - at least not this year. Last year and the year before that it was like a sickness that stayed with him for months. But, when he’s fighting it he goes down too fast. He did it in the shootout the other night and he’s done it a few times tonight. The goals by Hemsky and Eberle maybe had a combined speed of 20 km/h.
But go ahead and attack me – minus an argument that’s all you have.
This is BS. After the crap they let the oilers get away with early, now they’re calling us on everything, just to make sure we have no chance to come back.
There are times when it’s fair to say that a goalie was down too early. None of the goals tonight were a result of that however. First goal he wasn’t down, second goal he was in a crouch, third goal I can’t remember. But either way, 3 goals, 2 from the slot, one from the blue paint. Not exactly low percentage areas.
Subban tried to clobber Hall and missed. As Hall and Eberle went up the other way to score, you finally see Subban, the defenceman, skating back into his defensive zone. Going for a high-risk big open ice hit in a 1-1 game on the road in the third period…not Subban’s finest moment.
He has been huge, but that was a rookie mistake. Guess it is understandable, as he is a rookie and all.
Looking for a big hit there wasn’t the brightest move Andrew. His mind and heart were kinda in the right place but they’d been creating a lot of turnovers by staying in lanes and being patient.
The easiest way to figure out if someone knows absolutely jack all about goaltending is if they complain about a goalie being on his knees. It’s the tell for someone being out of touch and stuck on goalies from the 70′s or earlier.
with six more road games than home games if the pathetic first period is an indication how this team will play the rest of their road games we should forget about winning the division and just be happy to make the playoffs..first period certainly showed why the habs are one of the worst road teams in the nhl…has there ever been a team that after 58 games is tied for 26th for road points and is 24th in goals per game but is in the position in the standings the habs are…i say this is amazing
Nice how they admit that it was interference on the first Oilers goal. Hemsky and of course the CBC fools.
Why couldn’t VanMassenhoeven figure that out? Oh wait. I forgot, he lost control of the Bruins Mini Stanley Cup victory last week. There are rules for the league and rules for the Habs.Signed Gary Bettman’s welfare league.
PS. Mr. Molson, keep sending the revenue sharing cheques.
that puck hit him hard on the face hence the blood. im suspecting broken jaw or a cheekbone fracture. i would hope it would be 2 weeks but im afraid its going to be more.
It’s only 1 period folks, as we all found out from the last game it’s not over till it’s over, lets hope the boys come out hard and take this game over
I switched over to RDS – especially for the intermission. The CBC announcers have only two songs: If the Habs are ahead – faint, grudging acknowledgement; if the other team is ahead – enthusiastic, over-the-top, gushing praise. It must have almost killed them last year when we won those two rounds.
They haven;t found their skating legs yet,. They’ll come around ’bout midway thru the second period. If Price can hold them in we can prolly take this one in a squeaker.
Seriously, I’m stuck watching all the games on the NHL Center Ice TV package in the US. Because they almost never carry a French language feed, it means that 99% of the time, I have no option but to watch the opposing team’s feed of the Habs games. Literally, I’ve watched one home feed of Montreal all year.
Most of the time, the other team’s announcers are actually good and unbiased. They talk more about the other team, but they aren’t usually nauseating shills, or badmouthing the Habs.
The exceptions are, of course, Jack Edwards in Boston, who is just a complete embarrassment to hockey, television, and the human race. And the Penguins announcers are also over-the-top homers. Other than that, I’m usually happy with the quality of announcers.
CBC seems not as bad as Boston/Pittsburgh, but worse than the other networks I’ve seen. They’ve spent 90% of the time talking about the Oilers, except when they are making some negative comment about Montreal.
Lol…everyone sh*ts on Moen cause he is not scoring. I guess its okay to bash him on here? Atleast he is getting great chances. Not many other people have been able to do even that while playing with Gomez. Cammy should be back on that line soon. AK is looking pretty good. Maxpac needs to get into this game and play a big role in the second.
Chances don’t mow the lawn, as Gill would say. And besides commenting on his utter inability to score when handed unreal chances isn’t bashing. It’s a factual observation.
Because they hire jaded goalies like Glenn Healey and Kelly Hrudey, whose New York Islanders and L.A. Kings were ousted respectively from the ’93 playoffs by the Habs on their way to another cup.
Why isn’t Moen on the 4th line? He’s not going to help Gomez and Kostitsyn start scoring again. At least put Darche with them as he knows what to do with a puck.
1 Veteran, 3 rookies and a journeyman on the back end. Transition game couldn’t get going without divine intervention. Oilers know how easy it is to pen the Habs up right now.
Hrudey is a much better analyst since Roy retired. When Patrick was still playing you could always tell Hrudey hated him. Always seething with anger an bias.
Nice goal – great work. Eller’s speed is a a huge plus against a team like this. He might be the kind of player who would be far more dangerous playing in the Western Conference.
Man! Lucky it’s only 1-0. I’m not watching any more of this tonight. Gotta be up early for work, plus the way we’re playing right now, the outcome doesn’t look promising. Good Night folks!
Totally agree. Don’t like the new format. Had to hunt for Boone’s gems while searching through all the fan comments. The previous format was coherent and visually appealing as well.
Alright - he was brilliant on those goals – brilliant, I tell you!! He’s brilliant because, because, because … well, because he’s Carey, that’s why! And we love him. And we absolutely can never notice if he makes a bad play. OK? Are you alright now?
Just ask him out already – if you don’t let him know how much you love him you’ll always regret it. As to my “pinhole” observations, I think the Oilers have the same view – just wait till he flops then flip it over him as softly as they like.
I don’t care who your goalie is, how big or fast he is, when you let players walk to your net uncontested he isn’t stopping the puck. 3 goals, three plays where they had uncontested shots in prime scoring areas.
Both goals – on his knees while they flip a soft one over him. Sure he’s been good tonight – all year in fact, but he goes down too quickly. And there, he does it again.
Especially with the last one being a FOUR on ONE……..
Its just sad that you HATE our goalie so much. As for me, um YES…. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE OUR GOALIE. ALMOST S MUCH AS I LOVE THIS TEAM. That kinda goes without saying, but i guess im either old fashioned or too much of a supporter. I choose to like our players and support them instead of bash them every single freaking chance I get. At the absolute worst time too.
JUST LIKE A NAGGING WIFE. Thats exactly what you are… I TOLD YOU SO I TOLD YOU SO…. Like a yappy little dog.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Folks, the other night was a test we were doing. As of tonight, the new live chat will feature ONLY Boone’s commentary. Your comments will be down below, as usual.
The problem isn’t the others comments on his blogging, (There was an annoying stickied reminder on how to remove other peoples comments on top of his blogging as well) It’s not as clean as the previous method, It also uses up so much more space even if you make the text smaller.
There were also his replies to others comments, If you only viewed his blogging and cut out the peoples comments you’d see he replied to someone and unless you turned back the peoples comments you wouldn’t know what he was talking about.
I guess i understand the need for it to cut down on the bandwidth but it’s just so much more annoying… Can’t even scroll through his comments on the iPad.
And now Price checking to see if he tweaked something. That would definitely be the sign that it’s time to fold up shop for the year, before anyone else gets hurt.
That happened to Matt Carle when he went to Phili from San Jose if I remember correctly. I have it stuck in my mind that he spent a lot of time in the box when he first got there. Could be my imagination running wild though.
No kidding. I love it when the official points to the scrum and starts yelling “PLAY ON, PLAY ON”, if they aren’t doing anything deserving a penalty, why are you acknowledging them?
They only have 5 D. Has it really been that bad? Picard has stepped up with solid play. Hamrlik is wicked right now (despite the drop pass to nobody). Price is not too bad either All the players are very disciplined, actually on both sides, good game to watch.
Pleks needs to get a goal tonight or assist, that line is doing all the right moves. That would be huge for him. Confidence is a good thing for Pleks and when he is confident…exciting player to watch.
Eller, Kostitsyn, great hockey by the boys. 5-3 win.
Yeah I know..but he had his chance on the Gomez line and did nothing.. or maybe it was with Pleks..I cant even remember because I barely ever noticed him.
Haha. Interesting analysis. He’s made some nice plays here and there in front of our net that almost make up for the dozen he’s screwed up. 5 giveaways and counting, not to mention the blown coverage on the Hemsky goal.
wiz hospitalized?! good thing we picked up mara or carle/henry would be on their way to play sunday…unless gill is ready to go. god crazy the injuries this year.
No kidding especially when Markov is better by a mile than any of their defenceman. Markov down is like being down two. Gorges is likely our most effective shut down man, so I’d say Vancouver isn’t any worse off than Montreal
If Markov is the most underrated defenseman in the league, Edler is the second most underrated. I’d be torn if I had to choose between the two based on where they are in their careers.
You could take another look at the post where it says that he’s made some nice plays in front of the net. But it is a fact that he has 5, we’ll call them unofficial turnovers, and it’s a fact that he had the blown coverage on the Hemsky goal where he failed to pick him up coming into the slot. You can interpret that as hate if you like.
Not really, just annoyed that they’re planting the seed excuse wise while the Habs chug along with their two best done for the year and a main cog of the group going down for a week on a weekly basis with no media attention paid to it. No kudos for Jacques, Perry Pearn or the guys like Weber, Nash, Picard, Subban or Wisniewski(until tonight) stepping up.
another pp another face off won by the opposition and 30 seconds of pp time lost…the coaching staff just does not care as plecks starts every pp and most times he does not win the draw…nash looks slow and tenative today……it looks like the winner of this team will be the team that capitalizes on the other teams mistakes as there are plenty
I don’t think carle will get a call up. He can be claimed on re-entry waivers and would probably be claimed. Especially this time of year where pretty much everybody is looking for defensive depth. I can see both carle and dustin boyd as trade bait since both are waiver eligible
I watch the game on tv. No blogs, no comments. I used to be able to look at what was said and when, but hey, they love changes around here. No links. Secret mods. Ridiculous.
Check back later for more fun with the nifty new live game blogging toy.
Be honest Mike. Do you really feel that way or is this just a shameless plug for the Gazette? The old Live Blog was the best.
The late great Peter Finch said it best…
“So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it and stick your head out and yell, ‘I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!’”
Welcome, and I have to agree with you. I like the new format for Boone’s comments, but not so much for all of us fans commenting. I prefer the format as is for us commenting as all comments will be readable
I’ve been religiously on this site while watching the game on RDS, The iPad is/was a perfect fit for this scenario. I’ve only started watching the games since the last play-offs (I did watch just the play-offs before but for some reason i’m really hooked into this team since then and have been watching almost every game since) My French is not very good (Watching RDS this season it’s picked up though) and not having much info and history of Hockey it’s been awesome being able to read other people’s comments on the games, getting better insight into what i’m seeing and seeing it in other peoples perspectives again, has been very enjoyable.
That said, I finally created an account to put my 1st comment into saying that the new live blogging of the game sucks.
Healy thinks the Habs strategy is relying on the stretch pass? Talk about a ridiculously stupid and false statement. Obviously hasn’t watched a single Habs game this year.
CBC ALWAYS roots against the Habs. Do what I do, hit the mute button and listen to CJAD on the computer. It’ll keep you’re blood pressure down, believe me.
In that case, Mr. Boone, I disagree both with your use of the word “prediction” as well as the veiled predicition itself. I say we come home 2-1 or 2-0-1.
Habs jerseys in the crowd is nothing new. When I go to the Habs-Cgy games at the Saddledome, I am astounded by the sea of Habs red. These are not just former Mtl’ers now living in Cgy (like me). Many are fans from years back, when the only Canadian teams were Toronto and Mtl.
Calgary is a-light again with the Flames, and Sunday’s game is going to be a lot of fun for everyone. You can’t go far without seeing one of those god-awful jerseys. Ugh!
Eller could benefit greatly from some time in the AHL in my opinion. Look what it did for Max. He is having a good game..but does that make up for the 50 other games where he didn’t score and looked a bit out of place? No. Confidence boost for that kid and he’ll be dangerous.
I agree as I moved out to Vancouver 11 years ago and every game they have played here against the Canucks has been awful. I’ve stopped going to the games when they come here as Canuck fans are so annoying when their team wins. At least I get some pay back when the Canucks do their annual playoff choke.
I moved from Mtl to Cgy in 1998, and in my (almost) 13 years here, I’ve yet to see Mtl win a game in Calgary! At least I’ve seen hundreds of wins when I lived in Mtl, so I feel sorry for those die-hard western Habs fans who wait for that one time a year to see the team, and then the Habs stink up the joint.
I’ll be seriously upset if we don’t win tonight, since I don’t expect much from the Calgary and Vancouver games. The Flames have been playing inspired hockey lately, and I can’t remember the last time the Habs played well in Vancouver. Jacques Mafrtin has impressed on his players that this could be a trap game – a team out of the playoffs, the outdoor game on everyone’s mind, etc. But the Habs have dropped two OT decisions recently against lower-ranked teams, not to mention the Edmonton game in November, so I’m hoping that will be enough to make them take this seriously.
Will be at the gane tonight. Hope i have better luck since the Habs keep losing when i see them at Rexall. Should be a good game as the Oilers play pretty much the same style as we do. They might not have as much talent right now but they match our speed and they wont be a easy prey. They played very well against Dallas a couple days ago after a stinker against the Ducks.
Agreed. The new format is much more cumbersome to follow, even if you turn viewer comments off. The old way was clearly-presented and I’m not at all a fan of this new method. Last game, I just gave up on reading it all together, one more try and if it’s still bad, may just switch to reading the after-game analyses only.
Conditions, and the ice, should be perfect for the Classic! And the Flames are playing scary good (I see a lot of them, as I live in Calgary); if Habs manage to beat them, the occasion will be memorable, indeed!
this games has the potential to be very tough as it may be one of the games of the year for the oiler players…we have to be ready as the oilers could be really up for this game and couldl be flying…we have had tough games vs oilers last 2 years…
Hey Boone I think Edmonton historically gives us more trouble than Vancouver.. which is why I fear tonight’s game.
Heritage game.. methinks Calgary is plain too HOT.
This is the only thing I could find…
looks like the Habs a short a few players… and a goalie (correct me if I’m wrong… lol)
http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=552307
Vancouver dominates Montreal in Vancouver. I know cause I’ve been there year after year, blowout after blowout.
Awesome! I’ll take that luck on our side, especially if I end up bringing my coworker who is a big Canuck’s fan… haha.
I’ll have to double check my tix and see where I am (all I know is that I’m somewhere up in the rafters) and I’ll let you know.
Three young blond girls you say…. How young? lol (joking
)
Lets hope they start this trip off with a bang tonight though!
Gordie and Rocket!!! Worth way more than mine.
Just about to head off to Rexall for my chance to watch Les Canadiens. I’m hoping PK puts on a show
Ruutu and Lapierre on the same team? Oh boy.
holy.. im watching raonic vs stepanek. boy the kid is a beast. hes owning stepanek in serving. and his serves are deadly
** Buck Fruins **
and Perry~!
I kinda like it. I’m diggin’ the between period vid-caps and it probably lessens the server load from all the refreshing. Mike doesn’t have to compete for bandwidth this way.
same here
Last time PK made a show against the Oilers, we lost

Hate to be a party pooper, but I really wish Boone would go to the old ways of blogging.
Boston is kicking ass (unfortunately) but Tavares just scored a hell of a goal
Boone, the entire NHL knew the Canadiens were hurting for defensive depth.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Would Ruttu have come here anyway? … and do we want a Ruttu when we shipped Ruttu-lite to Anaheim earlier on?
Thanks for helping out Islanders… some spoilers they are sheesh!
Singing the “Parises”? Was that on purpose, Mr. Boone?
I dont think this will last long. Its terrible.
Cup preview?! Tampa wont make it out of the first round.

I don’t understand. You DON’T need to refresh, so this feature alone makes the new live blogging better. Welcome to 2011 and real time refreshing a-la-twitter
I think I can live with this new new format of Boone-posts only. Better than last time.
I’ve got the same stick with Gordie and The Rockets signatures on it, I have always wondered what it would be worth (not that I would sell it)
I’m just waiting for the Boone-Cam.
Enjoy the game everyone!
GO HABS GO!!!!
I tend to agree. They’re improving but they likely need more gel and seasoning. I won’t discount St.Louis and his leadership to get them far though.
hopefully a good road win..but there are only 4 teams with fewer road points than we have
With their D, there’s no way they can see the Cup Finals unless PHI has devastating injuries. They don’t have the D any more than MTL does and they don’t have our goaltending either.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
That’s what I meant.
Thanks Drew…you’re right …looks like we need a goalie…
It’s our mission to ensure the Oilers get a good draft pick. Make it so boys.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Habs always (pretty much) have a tough time against the Oilers. Since 1981, as a matter of fact.
Saw him at the Aussie open and he was taking a lot of big chances but yes his serve is deadly when on.
The boys better be ready for this game, you know the opposition will be up for an all Canadian matchup. With the game being on CBC also, it’d be nice to force them to say something positive about Montreal by us whooping the Oilers. Playing on the best ice tonight should be ideal for our team, skate skate skate
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUaMzsNKR7Q
The game’s also on CBC by the way.
Home for my reading week, get to watch a game in HD for once!!! Pretty pumped for tonight!! Lets hope for a good tilly!!!

Good, so we are back to the old format again. Nice that someone remembered to put the JUMP TO COMMENT Form LINK on the top this time.
National or just in Alberta, ??

Hey Ian,
Im from Bellevegas but haven’t been home to see a Bulls game yet this year. What do you think ablut PK’s brother’s potential?
Memorabilia question. I came accross a mini wooden CCM hockey stick with Yvan Cournoyer’s and Jacques Lemaire’s autograph.
Any value other than sentimental?
Not sure of current value but it will increase in time.
I see a sweep of Western Canada coming, they have not seen much of “the New Price”, PK Superstar or A Habs team with a power forward(MaxPac). We will shock and awe them with our finesse and the system.
On here in Mtl.
I remember Dec. 31, 1975
Would love to see Isles win and a move into first to start the swing!
Does anyone know where I could find a complete list of rosters for the upcoming Montreal/Calgary Alumni game on Sat. Feb. 19th?
I think it is to be broadcast on CBC and have only seen a teaser of a few names of Habs players that are to play.
Do you have access to this info Mr. Boone?
Man, Mr. Stubbs is on a roll with these tweets!
Ohhhh, technology! This chat should be interesting.
Sh!t happens right. Just as well follow suit.
ooo “kid”.. soo intimidating
——————
GWG = game winning gionta!
there is a reason why this team is 24th in goals scored and 26th on the road…we should be happy at the position they are in the standings…if we analyze the individual talent on this team we should be much lower in the standings…
He lead with his shoulder and missed the player but kicked the puck ahead. He was absolutely looking for a big hit.
LMFAO, yes without Gomez we would never be able to gain the offensive zone. Are you for real with that crap?
I love Eberle. It’d take Subban to get him though, which I wouldn’t be down for.
Shots 33-22 for the Habs and the same old story. We cannot score. If Price isn’t perfect, we’re f**ked.
The habs inability to finish also has a lot to do with making goalies look better than they are.
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
And your point is kid?
Except he wasn’t, he didn’t go for a hit, Tom. He stripped Hall of the puck with his skates.
By and large the team has outplayed the Oilers.
The score is mainly due to Khabibulin >>> Price.
Why is it all these washed up goalies OWN the Habs… Really, Khabibulin??? Who else? Giguere always beats Habs (Ok not last saturday), Biron, Vokoun, Hedberg…
Try something original will you!
Calm down folks! JM engages The System and like Capt. Smith we’re going right into the ‘berg!
He’s thinking big hit, get momentum. But didn’t realize that the flip side of the coin could result in a goal the other way.
Ummmm, I don’t see how there’s enough force there for that to happen.
Price has bailed these over paid bums out many games, it’s time for them to return the favor
Did I miss Shiloh’s Price goes down too early speech?
Montreal had an absolutely awful time trying to gain the offensive zone when he was injured..
Healthy scratch Gomez for one game, see where it takes you.
Love the logic…. wait… wait wait, defender has his stick in front of puck … ok now shoot, gone.
This defense is just completely depleted. How many games can a 36-year-old and a rookie play 30 minutes?
Well I’m done for the night….
Why does Pleks suck so much on the road this season?
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Hate to say it but those were two terrible goals
this is the type of game when the team is not playing well when your best forwards have to be the difference makers…gion limited appearance today…plecks another no show game…i like plecks but i am not sure he is really a star player just above average…
AK for Eberle!!!
If Gomez had one nut, he’d be as effective as Phil Kessel!
“Gomez! Suck speed and skill. But not a scorer”
Freudian slip there Boone?
Big Ben was gonna murder his face!! I think Horcoff had a turtle poking out for sure!!
guess I can say I am glad to be in the states at this moment then..Disgusting
Meh.
They need to do more of the same, but better. I would suggest more driving to the net. They wont solve their luck issue peripherally.
When Carey tweaked his knee, he knew the Habs would not score anymore gaols. He should have went off for the night
Let’s fire JM though, we all know Guy Boucher has magic powers that heal defencemen instantly and this wouldn’t have happened under him
Cammalleri even with his bad season was at least a threat to score, right now they just double-team the couple guys we have who can bury a chance.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Need D, we could be playing any team in the league, doesn’t matter that its the Oilers, any team would be able to exploit our lack of D, just bad luck
“I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.” – Bilbo Baggins
Likely just before he mumbled “should’ve taken more fencing lessons.”
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
man the oilers get two quick chances and score on both. we cant score on any of our’s perimiter shots asnd stone hand’s its hard to watch..
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
On the bright side, I like this new blog format so far. Really enjoyed the videos Mike.
***Subbang!!!***
I don’t understand how Gomez has made it through 840 NHL games with an ECHL level shot.
We are missing 5 would-be regulars on D. As is, it would be a miracle if we make the playoffs.
Mara has played 1 game in 2 months I believe.. don’t know how much of a help he can be. Wiz better be okay or Montreal is really gunna be screwed.
Eberle = magic hands.. I have no idea how he put it up over Price’s shoulder in that close.
Keep trollin’.
LMFAO
I’ll show him a dirty hit,
After Price fails to close the Shootout … he responds with this … Glove, short side, 5 hole.
i thought I was watching a Saw movie.
“A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject”–Winston Churchill
GOMEZ….!!!
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
I’m still trying to figure out what the heck P.K. Subban was thinking. Maybe it’ll come to me overnight. If this ends in a loss and people need a goat, I think we’ve got to start with #76 because that was one heck of a massively stupid play.
even with no d injuries this team would have real problems scoring…we probably dont have a forward who is a regular 30 goal scorer year in year out…
I the Habs have to depend on Price to only allow one or two goals a game to win then they are a Sh!tty team!
lol
I’d be damned if I’d bag skate these rejects after tonight. I’d make ‘em all go bowling!!!
dont worry we were humiliated on national tv in canada today
I miss the old game blog.
Full Breezer 4 Life
He was thinking of doing exactly what he did, he stripped Hall of the puck and was about to send it the other way, but sometime the other team has smart players like Eberle who was supporting Hall and took the puck back. It was unfortunate, it was far from dangerous or stupid. That goal was an amazing play by Eberle and that’s all.
Figures that somebody protected by 5 guys would mouth off about the toughness of somebody else. No offense Andrew.
I miss the old Habs. The ones who choked leads away but still got a point.
habsoloutly
Yep, but don’t worry. You’ve heard it a thousand times.
You were the result of a pair of individuals rolling the dice. I think I’ll play things closer to the vest.
In fairness, we also have a lot of trouble against good goalies.
The blown Ws vs the Isles and the Sabres piss me off more then this game … but regardless, Its all bad. I feel like the Bruins game broke this teams manhood, very much similar to what Lucic did to Komi a few years back. There traumitized.
Can we just strap his shin guards to Weber? Would probably double his weight!
How I wish Moen was traded just so Martin stops using him with other offensive minded players.
Go play some contact hockey. Get pounded fact first into the boards. See if that changes your tune.
Who am I kidding. You’re permanently bolted to your troll computer at your troll desk in your troll basement. Never gonna happen.
Is it the end of the world yet?
Nah man. It’s the refs that hate the Habs. /cry
Yep. And he’s been working hard and playing fairly well for the last 30 games. But he and the players around him aren’t finishing, usually because of him. He’s been cold too long.
Good point. And we need a defenceman, anyways.
Let’s call up Gaston Gingras…I’ll bet you he can still launch rockets.
That is actually doubly apt…they were as fast as rockets, and usually flew just as high…
Hughson just called Khabib a “Great goalie”…
amen
——————
GWG = game winning gionta!
All Moen ended up doing was replacing Chris Higgins lack of hands on this team.
If you’ve got nothing but personal attacks to contribute, maybe you should take a deep breath and go do something else? You are seriously going to argue about a difference of opinion? Really?
The hell is wrong with Gionta…that was weak..
blah, blah, blah
That’s what Mercutio said.
lol
Regardless, Plekanec is not a game-breaker. The Habs play a team game and no one player often makes the difference. He wasn’t the reason they lost tonight and he shouldn’t be made a scapegoat at all for any of the team’s troubles tonight or this season.
That was the epitome of embellishment. What a tool.
Easy Joey … LOL
I miss the good old days when the Habs would get two shorties scored against them on the same power play.
4-1 against the Oilers. If they play like that against Calgary and Vancouver it will be much, much worse.
Plekanec is their best player, he needs to play like that tonight…
Maturity must be to constantly cry about hits, refs and whatever else has your diaper all filled. I will endeavor to learn from you and JMVINNY. Two bigger whiners you would be hard pressed to find.
Strike one! to the worst team in the league!
How do the Canadiens continually lower themselves to the level of their opponents game in and out?
This is the same old story frustrated by a hot goaltender and they fold like a card table.
“I only like to watch and takes notes” JM
That’s actually what Adrian Dater, the beat guy who follows the Avalanche has been saying about OB lately “Taking his customary one bad penalty per game.”
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
But we already had Pyatt! Didn’t anybody tell Jacques?
its a bad combination if your a team that cannot score and win on the road…maybe what we need is to play the flyers and be major underdogs in the playoffs….we play well vs top teams because we are not a good team but have the chemistry and makeup to cause top teams problems…when we play lower teams there is little difference in talent…
What a joke NHL officiating is. 7 Habs get high sticked over the course of 8 minutes and they’re all ignored, and then we get called for a phantom slash. What a farce.
Time to call it a night, the idiots are swarming the site
Translation: He’s never been on the receiving end of a hit like that and hasn’t given one out and had to deal with somebody filling his face so full of fist that he was crapping out fingernails the next morning.
Umm…LMFAO. Thats not what I said?
I was just saying, what everyone else was saying, when Gomez was injured this season. Did you not notice? They actually did struggle when he was out. He does fly into the O zone untouched quite easily. Im not trying to defend his terrible season he is having. I was just stating a fact. I dunno what it is with some of you guys putting words in my mouth but god its annoying….
Craig Ludwig and Chris Chelios are playing for MTL in the Alumini Game, I say we get them.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Just in case: 1-800-HLP-TRLL
Had “their chance” not there chance.
HE WASN’T DOWN FOR THE FIRST 2 GOALS.
That’s it, Van Massenhoven has made the list with Rooney, Peel, Walkom and Lee.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
You’re too far gone for this to continue.
I’ve got a great face for radio.
?
***Subbang!!!***
Ah yes. The good old mommy and daddy line. That one never gets old. Unfortunately, everything else you say does. You hate the Habs. We get it. Cheapshots don’t exist in hockey. We get it.
Ahh..Sad but true..
God, what I would not give to have a CRaig Luwig on this team!
Night and Day. And kudos to him for quickly realizing that the fancy stuff he got away with in Windsor wouldn’t work in the NHL. He’s adapted his game quite well, and it hasn’t just been him adjusting to the speed of the game. He’s becoming a very good player.
We disagree. Plekanec’s speed with the puck and ability to play brilliantly both ways makes him a game breaker. Price kinda is too.
What a crap game.
What is with you? Show me where I said anything remotely close to saying ANYTHING about it being Ellers fault. I said he’s been struggling this season. You put words into my mouth on my last two posts, find someone else to argue with. Moron.
It was the other guy who made the calls
Truth hurts eh!
Time to change your avatar. Halak is so yesterday!
Please tell me that’s a joke.
Go Habs Go!
Nice pull. But I’m partial to Stephane Quintal, he’s a gamer.
(it was a joke)
Ah, those long walks on St. Cats with Sergei Samsonov. I remember them well!
Why cant anybody on this team hi the f in net is it thaT HARD Why other player on other teams seem to be aBLE TO IT
Coming from a guy who does nothing but toss personal attacks and in the same breath cry like a spoiled little brat about the Refs and how they are “screwing the Habs”. Give it a rest. Go have some warm milk and see if mommy or daddy can tuck you in early.
Haha. Benny fills Krejci and now he wants to be Chris Nilan.
Are you gonna harp on this for the next two or three years. It’s done and over. Nothing we can do about it. Get over it and move on.
I’m liking Poo Poo’s moxy lately.
Think Kjell Dahlin is still in shape? Do we still have his rights?
Get Em Benny!! Game was over anyways.
That last goal was Prices’ fault, so soft
If Price played against us he would have a hell of a lot of shutouts.
Moen AK 46 with Gomez puts the puck on the stick and another blown chance .
Hammer tired out overuse by the coach all year.
Where is the first and second line .they are doing nothing.
Coach is good with the pad.
GM bringing in usless players.
we have a great future beaten by the worst teams.
I was just about to say that we coulda used a delay of game penalty too.
Don’t Phuck with Big Ben!!!
This team is not good enough to seize a golden opportunity when it stares them in the face ,can not beat 3oth place team .They are a disgrace to the CH.
Horcoff is gutless, cheap shots Pouliot from behind in the last couple minutes, then turtles when Pouliot comes at him.
Came down to a few too many brain farts and two really soft goals. Give credit to Bulin he robbed the boys on some good chances. Hey at least Gomez looked good! Good for Pouliot sticking up for himself, since the incompetant referres once again couldn’t do their job
Rofl. Andrew you need to relax man. That was far from a dirty hit. Pouliot was looking to get a call there. Stop with the hysteria.
Looking to get a call? Are you touched?
Actually this is completely in his character. Hablifting basically disagrees with anyone saying any hit is dirty, and then calls them a pansy/pussy/girl after, to drive home the fact that he’s 7 years old.
LMFAO
That’s 2 Oz references tonight. You’re only allowed 3 so make it a good one
***Subbang!!!***
GOD DAMN IT. PRICE STOP GOING DOWN TOO EARLY……. NOW ITS 4-1…….CRAP……….
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
You mean the same Big Bad Bruins that after winning their Mini Stanley Cup lost three straight?
Brutal. Humiliated by the worst team in the league.
No passengers? Plekanec, Nash. First guy is kind of important.
If only Ak had of scored in the first! The refs sucked where is Obyrne when you need him?
yet again!
this guy reminds me oh Nahlsy.. but even mroe annoying…
——————
GWG = game winning gionta!
how can you not show up for a game like this…. 2 out of six points against the oilers, sabers and islanders..
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
One more dildonic post and I’m sending in the flying monkies!
Stats don’t lie. It is what it is. The Habs are not that damn good!
Don’t judge him based on one game. Plekanec still leads this team in points on the road.
From the biggest cheap shot apologist on this site, I’ll take that to mean I’m 100% right.
There isn’t a person in the World who agrees with you. You should be proud.
Pathetic.
Not to mention, the only 2 goal shootout lead blown in the NHL EVER.
Go back to your trailer park in the slums of FL.
You’re a moron. Someone who is “looking for a call” doesn’t get up and immediately throw a cross-check to the head, and then repeated haymakers after that. STFU.
He’s just being an idiot Andrew. That was blantantly dirty. No wait, I’m wrong, it’s much more logical to insist that Pouliot hurled himself into the boards face first to get a call trailing by 2 goals and under 90 seconds left in the game.
i hope you would stop annoying all of us… but we can’t always get what we want
——————
GWG = game winning gionta!
Again, you are welcome to your opinion. I disagree. No need to get your panties in a bunch. No doubt you are one of these guys who sees no fault in anything the Habs do and all fault in the actions of other teams. Must be nice to watch a game so blinded.
This team was 30 – 18 – 5 once upon a time (injuries and all)
Then the big bad Bruins stole their manhood … the Habs are lost and have no answer.
No, according to you it’s all Eller’s fault right? Whens the last time Gomez scored a goal?
Yuo just keep posting your drival don’t ya
That’s who you picked up after dumping Peter Popovic?
Speaking of which…Popovic is apparently one of the top coaches in the SEL now. Always had a soft spot for the big lug.
No excuses, yes were down some d men but one efin goal , PATHETIC,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Please, the team looked great against the Leafs less than a week later. Can’t win ‘em all, we’re down FIVE of our top SIX defensemen.
OK Gauthier ….DO YOUR FREAKING JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sinking with the Avalanche and needing Liles to look good.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
The habs had there chance two nights ago … they could have enjoyed 2 days first in the NE and 3rd in the East … but they blew that game and they blow tonight. Story of the Montreal Canadiens since 94.
ROFL. You don’t watch much hockey. Thats painfully obvious. Good stuff.
You said no passengers tonight. Yet tonight, he was a passenger. There is no disputing that he’s our best skater, but he didn’t show up to play tonight.
Ew, to the Oilers…glug glug, time to drink another one and…play Starcraft?…
lol, don’t be so hard on Dean, he’s the result of a failed lobotomy.
Playing mainly AHL calibre defense. We gotcha. Habs suck.
I hope the Habs play the Flyer in the first round.
Worst game of the season, these D injuries are retarded.
I agree with all your paragraphs although Gomez can’t hit a urinal! He is a great playmaker but no skill when shooting, he is killing us!
Stop now! Desperation like that results in trading Mike Ribiero for Janne Niinima!
Hockey players don’t send themselves face first into the boards to get a call. Lay down until the feeling goes away.
Not only will they lose, but they’ll FK up there goal differential.
ooooohhhhhh…..you sure got me there Dean, kudo’s.
No way in hell am I going to agree though.
subban 29:29
hamrlik 27:36
weber 27:38
picard 23:23
hmm and then we wonder why this team looks tired.
they are completely depleted on the blue line…
and with cammy out this does not help out scoring at all
——————
GWG = game winning gionta!
You know you sound like a broken record. We get it you’re mad at Price. Get over it. He is not the first to let in soft goals and he won’t be the last. Have seen Roy, Dryden let in worse in their career. Even Betty Crocker burns the odd Cake.
Horcoff crosschecked Pouliot from behind
The good news, best live blog this site has ever done, videos an excellent addition. Well done Mr. Boone and company!!!
“I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.” – Bilbo Baggins
we have at least 12 players on the team that are easily interchangeable with hundreds of pro players in north america and world wide…again the results the team has achieved so far is amazing…
I agree Sheldon.
I’m just sick of Carey having to play lights out hockey every single night for the Habs to win & then members pick at his every move.
PG needs to clean all the dead weight from this team
That’s 5 losses in the last 6 games. Thank goodness for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
true that… but it’s my only attempt at photoshop.. let me enjoy it will ya
——————
GWG = game winning gionta!
This team is imploding
Oh, he could tell you why
The ocean’s near the shore.
He could think of things he never thunk before.
And then he’d sit, and think some more.
If he only had a brain.
Are you suggesting everything isn’t Gomez’s fault all the time no matter what!?!?!? GET OUTTA HERE.
Lol I wouldn’t be suprised if the rumors today about Gomez being unhappy in MTL were true. They really have a hard time putting the puck in the net.
some people use this site to vent, deal with it. sweet dreams
The Habs score ONE goal tonight. ONE GOAL. And you rag on Price!
Man that video of Boone is scary. Even the Forum ghosts went into hiding.
Just like last season. Can’t put the puck in the net. Useless!
***Subbang!!!***
Glad I told all my Non hockey watching buddies to watch it!
yup.. didn’t work out to well tonight though…
it happens.. but at least JM keeps this team comptetive… imagine all these inuries with carbonneau…
or any of the coaches dating back to pat burns
——————
GWG = game winning gionta!
With the thoughts you’d be thinkin’, you could be another Lincoln, if you only had a brain!
And some come for knowledge. Which category do you fit in?
***Subbang!!!***
He was on his knees for both of them – film doesn’t lie.
YOU look at the hilites and then go read up on the MODERN way of goaltending. And have a nice day!!
I’ll be out there tommorow night. I play goal however and my guys are pretty good at keeping the meatheads away from me. Love how you completely ignore my comments concerning your whining about the refs, I guess it’s true so why bother saying otherwise..right?
BTW the Oilers haven’t won 2 in a row for more then 2 months … thanks to the Habs that will change
Where is the glorious outlet pass that Gainey promised when they drafted him?
I’ll be honest, many of you loud HIO posters are lovers of a ‘soft’ brand of hockey. I wouldn’t expect to get much support from you guys. Nor would I want it.
It is kind of hard to miss Horcoff sending Pouliot into the boards face first with his stick there.
I’m glad I’m intoxicated right now.
amen, what a cheap *ss cross check
Khabibulin was made to look a lot better than he was. Mediocre rebound control, caught off angle numerous times and bobbled the puck consistently on long shots. Nobody made him pay.
Pouliot tried to sell that push into the boards a little but really nice to see a Hab stand up for themselves. A very rare sight. They’ve largely just rolled over in this game.
Even though I hated the loss tonight, HIO was a blast. Good night Y’all.
And just in case 1-800-HLP-TRLL
Why thank you P-ster. Aren’t you a sweet man.
I’m glad I’m in Zambia right now.
———————————————————————————————————————-
If a man speaks in a forest where no woman can hear him, is he still wrong?
Montreal has scored 4 more goals than Toronto. If the Leafs had the goaltending they would be as good as the Habs
Ah, that explains Gomez then, too. Need an ace up your sleeve, and there is no more ace shooter than Gomez!
Better get back to your daily posts of why Gomez is awesome and Eller is garbage Einstein.
I don’t even bother adding names to the list. if they’ve got an orange band around their arms, I can count on them screwing the habs.
Gomez has been better than Pleks tonight, Habs have GOAL SCORING problems! Scott has made some really nice passes, Gionta has played well, but his shot has been horrible.
I’m sick of that lazy bastard! He’s got to join the rush!!!
agree..this type of performance we gave seen from the habs many times…we would nothave scored vs any of the other 28 teams
Good for Pouliot.
Wow are you kidding me??? Trip, board, then HABS get the penalty?
Pouliot > Latendresse
Whew…you really had me worried there for a minute. I would have had to tell you to GET OFF THE INTERNET
***Subbang!!!***
If this team can’t beat the Oilers, Islanders, and Sabres…Pierre had better not be done trading yet.
You just have to look a little harder. Or – just look at the highlights.
U have to insult everyone who doesn’t see your point of veiw right. You started at me from the first day I came here & I have lowered myself to throw insults as you do!
lmfao
Agreed.
He and Pacioretty have been so impressive. When he(Weber) belted Shelley in the Flyer game it must have given him so much confidence. I like the future. Which is all I like tonight.
Moen plays exactly like JM likes, cross the opposition blue turn and start backing up to play defence.
Why do you think JM stopped play DD, Pouliot and White? They were going to the net in the offensive zone!
“I only like to watch and takes notes” JM
Price can make all the saves he wants he’s just not going to get any help from these guys tonight.
***Subbang!!!***
How does that too many men go uncalled? There were 8 guys on the ice!!!!!
Taylor Hall looks so much better now than he did at the start of the season. Forgot how quick he is.
He did a great job moving big dustin penner out of the crease.
Wiz took a picture of himself from the hospital. Brutal…. Thank goodness it’s no on his eye.
http://twitpic.com/40y3cy (via Dave Stubbs twitter)
‘Tis but a flesh wound!
Do I have to give up mine on Oleg Petrov?
If Gomez keeps playing like that the bashers will only have the cap hit to complain about.
This could turn into one ugly road trip.
If that Subban goal goes in … Edmonton drowns
How long are you gonna whine about the shoot out loss. It’s over get over it. So he let in a couple he would like to have back. Trust me the world will not end. These things happen. Again get over it and don’t harp on it for the next week or so.
Hammer actually was playing very well until that garbage fumbling!!
The Cannots have been a contender a lot recently… but they aren’t a playoffs team.

Canadien en 5! Never go Full Retard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svwGRJA28lY&feature=related
Hey it’s poker. Four hands of stone beats a pair!
You know the d is depleted when Weber is killing penalties.
Star Wars reference??
I don’t know if I’ve ever thought this until now – but Gionta has been aweful tonight. A step behind the entire game.
credit to him though that you never see it.
What a totally bullshit call
Yeah Andrew I have. On Marchand. He turns his body when he looks for the big hit, just like he did there.
Soon, solar flare activity is starting to kick up and the end is near. 2012.
LOL I forgot Buffalo’s 3rd stringer…
Hamrlik is so tired.
You need to get over your crush on Juha Lind!
This is BS. After the crap they let the oilers get away with early, now they’re calling us on everything, just to make sure we have no chance to come back.
BINGO
Yea, some Archduke just got offed in Sarajevo.
Um…what?
Subban tried to clobber Hall and missed. As Hall and Eberle went up the other way to score, you finally see Subban, the defenceman, skating back into his defensive zone. Going for a high-risk big open ice hit in a 1-1 game on the road in the third period…not Subban’s finest moment.
He has been huge, but that was a rookie mistake. Guess it is understandable, as he is a rookie and all.
You’re such a sh** disturber, LL.
***Subbang!!!***
maybe because we have one of the weakest group of offensive forwards in the nhl..second year running
Wrong. The Habs ARE NOT a very good team when they have to rely on their goalie to win 90% of their games for them!
in fairness we also lost to the islanders 18th string back up and the sabers 3rd string…
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
I don’t see that. EDM has had better scoring chances than we’ve had. We could play for 600 minutes and not score another goal at this rate.
Watch his feet, have you ever seen anyone ever make a big hit with his skates turned sideways, toes pointed out? He was going for the puck.
Actually the score is mainly due to our team constantly shooting from the perimeter tonight where as Edmonton is getting a ton of good looks.
2 shots 2 goals… oh wait, just got their 3rd…
Not necessarily a bad play but it didn’t work.
PK has been huge tonight.
Thing is none of them are really playing well tonight.
***Subbang!!!***
I don’t care if your a Habs fanatic or not, it’s time to make TRADES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love it. Normally being injury prone is a negative.
But on CBC?
Hemsky is good because “He’s used to playing hurt”
with six more road games than home games if the pathetic first period is an indication how this team will play the rest of their road games we should forget about winning the division and just be happy to make the playoffs..first period certainly showed why the habs are one of the worst road teams in the nhl…has there ever been a team that after 58 games is tied for 26th for road points and is 24th in goals per game but is in the position in the standings the habs are…i say this is amazing
Any news on Wiz ?
Any news on Wiz ?
Nice how they admit that it was interference on the first Oilers goal. Hemsky and of course the CBC fools.
Why couldn’t VanMassenhoeven figure that out? Oh wait. I forgot, he lost control of the Bruins Mini Stanley Cup victory last week. There are rules for the league and rules for the Habs.Signed Gary Bettman’s welfare league.
PS. Mr. Molson, keep sending the revenue sharing cheques.
Any chance that Mythbusters will try and decide whether AK is an NHL caliber player?
Nowhere.
CBC opted to take the Senators last year in the first round over the Habs, Don’t forget that.
that puck hit him hard on the face hence the blood. im suspecting broken jaw or a cheekbone fracture. i would hope it would be 2 weeks but im afraid its going to be more.
Bret feterling dammit, where are thou??
** Buck Fruins **
Apparently PG is at the Washington / San Jose game tonight.
Keep the hat Boone, it’s so Park-ex.
I completely agree with you as someone who lived in the US in the past. I would always watch with the sound off – especially when i lived in Boston.
Re CBC – to be fair – have the Habs done anything to warrant praise yet?
I’m watching TV like you are, man.
When has Hemsky played with Cammy? Glenn Healy is an idiot – although I’m probably not saying much we don’t already know.
Wiz done for two weeks!
Gauthier will be burning the phone lines again tonight.!
LOL… i just rewound the tape to make sure i heard the cammy/hemsky comment correct. healy is a dink.
What? Where did you hear that?
That’s why despite being unilingual english I watch the games on RDS
Mr Boone I love the video commentary! Habs need to step it up and play with a little urgency. Way too casual in the 1st.
Yep, that Kelly Hrudey. One of the great commentators of the game.
***Subbang!!!***
Lucky to only be down by one.!
This is a 6 point road trip. If we do not take 2 here, we will be coming home with zero me thinks.
But Martin will be screaming at them in the room right now! NOT!
Bruins and Rangers just won their games. The heat is on the Habs to beat the worst team in the NHL.
No show Habs.
Hey Boone I like gangsta hats. Put it back on!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Boone, any word on Wiz?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Blow up the team! Blow it up good PG! Make it happen!
Kelly Hrudey on JF Jacques: “He’s not one of the great thinkers of the game.”
If we lose we’ll go to 1-5 in our last six.
Five of those games are/were against non-playoff teams.
dominated by a bottom feeder … whats new?
I feel like this is a game where the Habs put there effort in for the last 10 mins and win … exciting but why wait?
I think I’m gonna need a few more beers to get through this game…..
Chances don’t mow the lawn, as Gill would say. And besides commenting on his utter inability to score when handed unreal chances isn’t bashing. It’s a factual observation.
So frustrating.
And this game is kind of boring too.
***Subbang!!!***
I think it’s pretty clear the team has been affected by the Gomez trade rumours!
- In Price We Trust
Would U expect any better from the Habs against the bottom dwellers?
Get Moen off the Gomez line, now!
Worst period of the season, easily. This is one of the worst NHL teams in the last decade we’re playing against here.
I think Darche is on the 4th line to limit his ice time. He might still be nursing that injury.
- In Price We Trust
Could be that the Canadiens signed a big contract with RDS (Roger Communications) to show all the games and another with TSN.
Hockey Night in Canada no longer had exclusive broadcasting of NHL hockey in Canada.
CBC is based in Toronto and is oblivious to anything that happens east or west of the Ontario border.
“I only like to watch and takes notes” JM
What? You gotta be F***ing kidding me! That’s hilarious!
Here’s a newsflash: Edmonton’s size killing the Habs… Are you watching Mr. Gauthier?
Hrudey is actually not that bad
- In Price We Trust
This reminds me of the worst of the Habs from last year.
They don’t. It’s a fan perception…if they are not pro-Hab then they must be anti-hab
Nice backcheck by AK – he’s one of our only guys skating with the Oilers tonight.
Can someone tell JM to put Darch with Gomer and Kostitsyn? Much better hands than Moen.
0 net presence when we are in their zone, which hasn’t been often.
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
Is it me or is the glass really low?
- In Price We Trust
Gomez and AK46 playing very well tonight.
Rest of the team sucking unfortunately.
Because the CBC is run by a bunch of A-holes out of Tarranna.
Our team does better coming from behind than protecting a lead these days…so all is good.
You should know that most Leaf fans believe the CBC is biased against them.
If we can survive the 1st period “just” down 1 goal, maybe we can regroup for the 2nd.
Because they hire jaded goalies like Glenn Healey and Kelly Hrudey, whose New York Islanders and L.A. Kings were ousted respectively from the ’93 playoffs by the Habs on their way to another cup.
We’re not even in this game
Where’s our offensive Finnish…oh, that’s right Saku’s in Anaheim…
Wiz will be back for the 2nd period.
I take it we are still not winning.
I really really miss Gorges.
I’m from the US, can someone please explain to me why CBC hates Montreal so much?
Seriously, the Bruins’ broadcast has less anti-Habs bias.
Because they are based out of Toronto and can count to 24
Because they’re based out of Ontario.
This team has got to get bigger. It’s like boys (Habs) vs men (Oilers) out there.
Isn’t it spelled ‘stoen’?
Why isn’t Moen on the 4th line? He’s not going to help Gomez and Kostitsyn start scoring again. At least put Darche with them as he knows what to do with a puck.
I don’t even find them that bad tonight. Healy is the only one that wouldn’t like them. Simpson and Hughson seem pretty neutral to me.
Travis Moen hands of stone
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Montreal standing around watching the Oilers. This game is going to be 2-0 shortly.
Full of leaf fans.
- In Price We Trust
shut up healy
Picard is woeful tonight.
Every shift the DDD line has been pinned in
WE look like the last-place team tonight!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
The announcer’s voice in Edmonton is annoying
“Start the season with a clean equipment bag and a freah bucket of febreze!”-CharlieHodgeFan
That’s because leaf fans are morons.
- In Price We Trust
KoMoGo = Moen and groanin’
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
This is very similar, only we’re against a much worse team and the goalie playing has become much better.
1 Veteran, 3 rookies and a journeyman on the back end. Transition game couldn’t get going without divine intervention. Oilers know how easy it is to pen the Habs up right now.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
This is a game where the forwards have to step up defensively in a big way.
Hrudey is a much better analyst since Roy retired. When Patrick was still playing you could always tell Hrudey hated him. Always seething with anger an bias.
Remember the Vancouver game last year?
Not close, unfortunately.
So can we turn it around and pull a “Sabres” on the Oil tonight? Dominant first period by Edmonton but it’s only 1-0, that sounds familiar …
Sweet!!!!
Great work by Eller!
woohoo
pound it in there… good! man
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
Niiice and greasy….
Well Done ….. BANG AT IT BANG AT IT & BANG AT IT SOME MORE
Nice! Everytime I complain about the kid… lol
Nice goal – great work. Eller’s speed is a a huge plus against a team like this. He might be the kind of player who would be far more dangerous playing in the Western Conference.
DET torched TBL 6-2, if VAN’s D health doesn’t resolve than DET’s in the Cup Finals for the 3rd time in 4 years.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
go figure eh?
Pleks, he can do anything
“Start the season with a clean equipment bag and a freah bucket of febreze!”-CharlieHodgeFan
Pleks
Halpern, Moen, Darche…my guesses.
***Subbang!!!***
looked like the mouth or nose area.
Where in the face did wiz get the puck?
Darche? Maybe Tom Pyatt? Tough question.
He was bleeding a lot from his mouth, it looked like.
Gone for the night. Going to hospital for evaluation.

efff!
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
Terrible pass by Hammer.
So wich Hab forwards could take a regular shift on D if necessary?
I incessantly mocked him during his first cup of coffee with the habs…
But whichever way you cut it, YANNICK WEBER is, at the least, a bonafide #5.
Take Eller off the line from Hell and he scores
any word on wiz?
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
Great play by Subban. Saves another Hamr blunder.
Sent to hospital..
and I just got rid of Eller on my fantasy team! …haha go Habs go
Eller! His own rebound! And again!
Let’s keep the pressure on!
No D-men taking penalties, please!
Thats one of the nicest tele’s I think I’ve ever seen.
Put Darche on there instead of Moen
YA ELLER!!!
Back from the press box!
ELLER didnt stop on that one,,,,,nooooice
Way to go Eller
Send him down to Hamilton.
***Subbang!!!***
good thing we didn’t send Eller down eh
Man! Lucky it’s only 1-0. I’m not watching any more of this tonight. Gotta be up early for work, plus the way we’re playing right now, the outcome doesn’t look promising. Good Night folks!
agreed
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
OK? Are you alright now?
price should not get the blame as the team played poorly but i am not sure the oiler goalie would have given up those goals
How old are you?
Just ask him out already – if you don’t let him know how much you love him you’ll always regret it. As to my “pinhole” observations, I think the Oilers have the same view – just wait till he flops then flip it over him as softly as they like.
didn’t we say that last week against NYI… Can’t keep giving points away fellas!!!
G F Y S Y F
omg shutup…
price is the oooooooooooooonly goalie in the world who never makes mistakes… we get it!
khabibulin made key stops and played well..
so did Price.. except 2 weak goals in 15 seconds…
man everyone here loves price as he’s been a workhorse for us.. but we can aslo honestly say if he wans’t great…

Formerly known as Camel_Larry.. ‘Sub-BAM! What a hit!’ ..”No more Looser on this teams!!” – Canadienboy
Yup, Price will get the blame tonight I guess while the rest of the team gets a free pass!
7 mill for a guy who can’t even put the puck on the net.
Well damn it all. The worst team in the league, Shame, shame.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME GOMEZ
With how bad the Oilers are, we should have started the period with a 3-4 goal lead.
Yes our D is in bad shape, but where have Pleks and Gionta been against the worst team in the league?
I don’t care who your goalie is, how big or fast he is, when you let players walk to your net uncontested he isn’t stopping the puck. 3 goals, three plays where they had uncontested shots in prime scoring areas.
It.s pretty hard to win without defence and forwards who can actually score
Well, gnite folks. Price crapped out on those two goals. kept the team in the game in the 1st and 2nd tho.
Very insightful, have you been working on that post all night?
This team go far in the playoffs …HA!
Nash needs to go back to Hamilton.
well thats game …. brutal a last place team…. shamefull
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
Over.
Both goals – on his knees while they flip a soft one over him. Sure he’s been good tonight – all year in fact, but he goes down too quickly. And there, he does it again.
Pretty goal….frak!
Game over. Maybe practicing protecting the slot would be a good idea in practice tomorrow morning.
That was kinda weak.
Can we get Nash off the f**king ice please?!?!?!
Ugly
Oh crap.
***Subbang!!!***
That was kinda awful.
Shit me, the Habs have Mara! The Cup is theirs!!!
Price is not allowed to have an off game right. U R pathetic!
What are we supposed to do? Play 4 defencemen for the entire game?
where was the defenceman?
Of course it’s Eberle…
He was debating the capitalization of “ha” for at least an hour!
Over.
Your like one of those women who use backhanded compliments to insult another woman…
Incredible how you mnage to blame Price and try to make him look soft on every goal that goes in. Its like you only see out of a pinhole.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Go-Away mez!!!!
We are really tanking and I hope PG is watching AK!!
You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about
Somewhere far away when Gomez and Kostitsyn have had better games, as have Halpern and Moen, and Desharnais and Pacioretty, and Eller and Pouliot.
lol
HA!
It’s ok for everyone else to take pot shots at me right?
I never said that the goals were not weak did I? The Kid has been great this season considering who plays in front of him. Cut him some slack tonight!
Calm down Dean.
Not unless the mayor of QC can find a way to produce a rink in 6 months.
Promises are one thing bricks and motar are another.
“I only like to watch and takes notes” JM
relax … just making a glove reference … he’s been an all star this year!
i can all ready see the direction this game is going in.. and its even more frustrating because they are playing a last place team… efff
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
Phoenix beating the future Nordiques.
I think Wiz’ injury deflated them temporarily, I hope. Not easy seeing a teamate down and bleeding.
DON’T FKIN START!
God CBC is so biased against the Habs. Hughson is a video game clown.
The Habs never play good against the LAST place teams anyway …
Way to let him walk right into the slot boys
CBC missed the goal, too…as did Price
RDS misses the faceoff and goal? Typical for them. Surprised CBC caught it honestly.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
ouch … a little vintage Price there.
It appears that the hockey are indeed angry.
We may need to sacrifice a virgin.
Hmmm… I wonder if there are any that post on this site?
Everyone sleeping.
There was a time goalies didn’t wear masks. Should be mandatory.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
What the hell his Hamrlik doing there? His BACK is to the play.
The Twilight Zone
Oh man. Just what we needed. Another injured D.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
The D is taking a beating like Vancouver’s.
great post!
Wiz, ouch! What have we done to piss off the Hockey Gods?
The Wiz blocked that shot with his face.
Tell me why again players don’t wear cages? I mean they exist in this day n’ age.
Being a Habs defenceman is equal to being on the endangered species list.
- In Price We Trust
Jeese ,the game vs Vancouver will have all new Dmen for both teams….ouch
That was nasty. That pool of blood…
is there a link for those of us in the states?
thank you
Crrap
And they score.
5 dmen out and right after they score.
NO LOVE FROM HOCKEY GODS.
Seriously? We’re going to let guys walk to the net like that??? Pathetic.
That looked easy for them. Not much of an effort from the Habs so far.
Hamrlik makes a brilliant interception and then lays a drop pass to no one… That kinda game.
Poor Hammer is going to end up playing thirty minutes at this rate.
Hammer! Man… You turned a brilliant play into an asinine blunder, in two seconds. Impressive!
his french was a pretty good effort
oh yeah you still dont get the what a concussion is
I was talking about the RDS commercial where he tries to speak french.
Ya, Eller’s just terrible, get him outta here!
Nice burst of speed on the outside from eller.
Folks, the other night was a test we were doing. As of tonight, the new live chat will feature ONLY Boone’s commentary. Your comments will be down below, as usual.
Thanks.
Other than being negative about the new blogging style, Good job on the site (Aside from the occasional meltdown)
Could just take time getting used to new style but i loved the way it was before.
Also, Thank you for welcoming me onboard everyone
man eller looked good driving the net there. and what a save by price
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
Eller got hooked at least twice twice on that trip down the ice. Are they going to call anything tonight? Against either team?
No penalties in the western conference eh? Peckham has mugged people without the puck on every shift.
Someone needs to kill that idiot in the leaf jersey
- In Price We Trust
And now Price checking to see if he tweaked something. That would definitely be the sign that it’s time to fold up shop for the year, before anyone else gets hurt.
I think dandy retired. I still can’t believe he couldn’t catch on full time with another team. Great skater and versitile
Bulin wall is keeping them in the game.
We jinxed it, Dave. Although with how terrible that PP was I’d almost prefer even strength.
2P Break Smid gets Wized. I don’t know how anyone plays this game without a visor
mario did. imo hes the best player to ever play the game
** Buck Fruins **
That happened to Matt Carle when he went to Phili from San Jose if I remember correctly. I have it stuck in my mind that he spent a lot of time in the box when he first got there. Could be my imagination running wild though.
And people were suggesting we trade for Peckham. He’s be in the box the entire game out east.
No kidding. I love it when the official points to the scrum and starts yelling “PLAY ON, PLAY ON”, if they aren’t doing anything deserving a penalty, why are you acknowledging them?
f’K NO!
Jones has some serious wheels
How does Peckham not spend his entire career in the box? CONSTANTLY interfering, constantly roughing.
Smid tried to take Halpern out and did a face plant into the glass
agreed,we are down too many players to be exchanging PP chances with these guys.
Man, LOTS of red in the crowd!
All the wrong Habs getting scoring chances
That was a really good chance for Picard. AK is playing well tonight.
Somebody call Jaane Niniimaa.
Helluva pass by AK! (No finish from Picard, predictably.)
That was just a damn good save.
LOL. Smid “tried” to elbow Halpern, and ended up smashing his own face. Poetic justice, that.
goal scorer pls and thanks PG..“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
Brutal
Some guy who decided to see a real hockey team?
It’s like a different league…oops, Penner gets called.
***Subbang!!!***
a very confused individual
It’s a CBC broadcast. He knows he’ll be on TV.
***Subbang!!!***
Well……it’s exciting? No defence on either side
Eller loves the Oilers–and I love Eller!
nice rush by Eller then Price sharp at the other end, fun game to watch
I’d suggest that the Habs not get into a lot of run-and-gun tonight…
So think about it for a second…….done?
They only have 5 D. Has it really been that bad? Picard has stepped up with solid play. Hamrlik is wicked right now (despite the drop pass to nobody). Price is not too bad either
All the players are very disciplined, actually on both sides, good game to watch.
Pleks needs to get a goal tonight or assist, that line is doing all the right moves. That would be huge for him. Confidence is a good thing for Pleks and when he is confident…exciting player to watch.
Eller, Kostitsyn, great hockey by the boys. 5-3 win.
Should have signed M-A Bergeron…Is Dandenault available?
Lovin the lets go oilers GO HABS GO chants
Who’s the knob in the Leaf jersey?
I’m thinking we might have to go full breeze
- In Price We Trust
Another Clutch and Grab Classic.
Van Massenhoven doesn’t help, doesn’t like to you know, work.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Yeah I know..but he had his chance on the Gomez line and did nothing.. or maybe it was with Pleks..I cant even remember because I barely ever noticed him.
Eller’s got a little more offensive upside than Moen.
- In Price We Trust
Don’t bother, according to these people Eller is garbage and deserves to be in Hamilton.
Gillesque speed from Nash.
Picard and Nash on together is a nightmare.
Hammer has been pretty solid tonight
- In Price We Trust
wow .. last minute is always an adventure with the habs..
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
Was Gomez ever a good passer?
Wow, what insightful analysis: “I agree Glen, Montreals defence could start looking fatigued”
No $hit sherlock!! CBC really needs to bring in some hiring standards, these clowns are pathetic.
A broken clock is right twice a day
SOS.
Just wouldn’t be a night without that annoying ape Brian Burke on the air, stupid Marlies commercials
Just sayin.
Finding it a little repetitive? You don’t say. Finding a little repetitive, you don’t say. Finding a little repetitive, you don’t say.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Boone. Keep that hat on during the third period.
News flash: If it’s cold outside, players will wear warmer clothes.
Taylor Hall wrist shot to the face from about five feet away… enough said
Tattoos, plural. Mid-life crisis: I was too poor for a Miata, too fat for a girlfriend.
Mike Boone: How’s the pooch taking the results from Westminster? Who do I have to pay to get the Bernese Mountain Dog to the final?
No kidding especially when Markov is better by a mile than any of their defenceman. Markov down is like being down two. Gorges is likely our most effective shut down man, so I’d say Vancouver isn’t any worse off than Montreal
Not much irony when it’s an attempt at humour.
Ouch… in the eye or jaw or cheek?
lol
If Markov is the most underrated defenseman in the league, Edler is the second most underrated. I’d be torn if I had to choose between the two based on where they are in their careers.
Have to admit I’ve made the same gaff altho not on national TV.
Both are bigger bodies shooting from the left side and wearing jersey #s ending in 7.
ALWAYS Habs – D Mex
Or be given flasks of Drambue!
Gotta bust out those ’70′s era tweed jackets.
Thanks Mr Cobb!
Oh, the irony of someone using the word “dyslexic”, and not knowing how to spell it…
You could take another look at the post where it says that he’s made some nice plays in front of the net. But it is a fact that he has 5, we’ll call them unofficial turnovers, and it’s a fact that he had the blown coverage on the Hemsky goal where he failed to pick him up coming into the slot. You can interpret that as hate if you like.
You hate Hamrlik, and always see the worst in him, never the things he does well. I don’t know why I even bothered.
It better be worth my time for staying up to watch this game
Missed the start of the game due to class… what happened to Wiz?
Not really, just annoyed that they’re planting the seed excuse wise while the Habs chug along with their two best done for the year and a main cog of the group going down for a week on a weekly basis with no media attention paid to it. No kudos for Jacques, Perry Pearn or the guys like Weber, Nash, Picard, Subban or Wisniewski(until tonight) stepping up.
Their turnover numbers are as accurate as dislexic spelling bee contestants.
Blocked a shot with his face.
another pp another face off won by the opposition and 30 seconds of pp time lost…the coaching staff just does not care as plecks starts every pp and most times he does not win the draw…nash looks slow and tenative today……it looks like the winner of this team will be the team that capitalizes on the other teams mistakes as there are plenty
I’ll dig out some wack jackets.
What’s shakin’ gang? Just got in from work. Just peeked at Boone’s pic. How did he land a ticket on the space shuttle?
Cool, thanks for the update Ian. I don’t know but I’m worried he may have a broken nose.
as long as someone knows
Haha, Boone’s all tatted up, what a gangsta.
Was wondering the same thing
“Start the season with a clean equipment bag and a freah bucket of febreze!”-CharlieHodgeFan
Funny, the NHL doesn’t seem to agree with you.
well done sir. best lol of the night.
Ps Boone … keep the videos going, love it!
who knows, maybe the new personality for CBC … force Cherry off the air
I don’t think carle will get a call up. He can be claimed on re-entry waivers and would probably be claimed. Especially this time of year where pretty much everybody is looking for defensive depth. I can see both carle and dustin boyd as trade bait since both are waiver eligible
Wiz in hospital, stiches and being x-rayed, I’ll let you know if bone fractured.
Do not ask how I know
He had three alone on the shift starting with an offensive zone faceoff following the icing where Jacques put the Pleks line out against the 4th line.
Scorekeepers by the way are very generous to the opposing team when dishing out giveaway numbers.
I think the fact that its a Hammer daycare makes me more nervous then a daycare itself.
5 giveaways? That’s interesting. The official NHL scorer, who, you know, gets PAID to record those stats, has him down for ONE.
Just joining in.
Grateful for an update on Wiz : what happened ? look serious ? …
ALWAYS Habs – D Mex
mr.boone whats that tatoo on your arm

Turn down the sound my friend. I stopped listening to CBC a long time ago
worse than last year, who would’ve thought huh?

4 of the D are logging serious minutes, could be interesting as the game wears on
If I read about the Canucks being ravaged by injuries to their defense corps one more time I’m going to die of laughter.

Thanks Scott Oake.
Can you give me the lotto numbers while you’re at it, since you seem to be channelling the inner-Kreskin.
What a joke CBC is.
Can’t even figure out what day it is without Red Deer Ron and the Village Idiot from Kingston around to stink out the broadcast.
The Habs would be dead in the water without Hamrlik tonight. I hope posters remember that in the morning when they comment.
Not to mention after watching the play and a few replays Simpson still mixed up Pouliot and Pacioretty, Bob Cole syndrom runs deep over there
I love it when they say tonight during a matinee broadcast. Makes me tired for the rest of the day…..idiots.
hah, love the dog

Gomez turned over that twice in the last minute - man
Please don’t let this game go to a Shootout!
I’d love to know what our GF/GA is in the last 2:00 of the period this year. My guess would be something like 1/10.
moen couldn’t score with his wife
moen couldnt score on his grandmother
AT 8 million per he should be doing and every #$@% game!
Gomez at least is trying there…….
…he played on that line for quite a few games already and was invisible.. Moens already had more shots in one game.
Would it not make sense to move Eller up to the third line in Moen’s spot?
- In Price We Trust
i would have to say that makes perfect sense .. but who the hell am i

We alway have a tough time against the Oil.

That’s how the period has gone. Both good chances to Cement Hands Moen.
The feed from this building is bright. It reminds me of Maple Leaf Gardens.
DD 83% in the circle tonight, awesome to see. Hopefully JM noticed this and will use him in situational faceoffs like in our own end.
I think people say Penner just for the sake of naming a name
Dustin Penner, this guy is our PF solution? Haha.

The last two offsides have been BS. And FFS PK, why the F*CK are you pinching right now?
Welcome, and I have to agree with you. I like the new format for Boone’s comments, but not so much for all of us fans commenting. I prefer the format as is for us commenting as all comments will be readable
Welcome aboard brother, and I agree with you, I preferred the old live-blogging better.
Darche is still banged up.
Well based on thet he will be a perfect fit with the Habs
yawn
Ouch
Another one bites the dust.
Oh sh** Wiz!
isnt that just fckn great!!
Ok Oilers managment ,you see what AK can do now lets swap for Penner….
Not watching the game – are we winning yet?
What is with the collective desire for Penner? Yes, he’s a power forward. No, he is not consistent at all.
Hamrlik is so bad.
Hammer SO DEEP on that pinch omg!
Adventures in the Habs zone… *shudder*
Apparently they aren’t going to call many penalties tonight.
I would expect even a stranger to hockey to not desribe the exact opposite system that a team uses as their system.
Sick move

Wow, that ice in Edmonton is fantastic.
It’s Glenn Healy. Even if he watched all of the Habs games, would you expect him to get it right?
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Great move by AK46 – great save by khabibulin
Theo Peckham is the pylon some of you wanted us to trade for.
Yeesh–Habs’ D looks porous, already.
AWW AK!
Healy thinks the Habs strategy is relying on the stretch pass? Talk about a ridiculously stupid and false statement. Obviously hasn’t watched a single Habs game this year.
I mean, Gomez takes a lot of &%$# on HIO, but come on, he makes some nice set-ups sometimes
Orgasmic dangle by AK.

LOT of blood from WIz’s face…. hope he didn’t break anything.
I am seeing Vancouver as the team we can take most advantage of.
Bieksa now out, We have the forwards to really pressure them, and I see a win in Vancouver.
Tonight in Edmonton we will have to work for it,
As for the Heritage classic, the Habs are like the Als, they win all the big games in the West/Alberta
Heritage is Ours

WTF………. Can we keep at least a few D for the rest of the season.??????? FIVE go down. We need more D than forwards. PLEASE let Wiz be ok………..
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
screw it season over now!!! no one left on our D roster!!
no why couldnt that be gomez no that isnt good
You can bet your house the Oilers are gonna come out flying and thumping to wear down the D early. The forwards have to control the game.
Perfect. Let’s see who else can go down
Geez – hope he can get stitched up and return.
OH NO!! Not the Wiz!!!
JUST GREAT!
ANOTHER D-MAN!
what do ya want hockey gods?!

That’s all you need to know.
Who are the Oilers playing tonight? I didn’t see much Montreal content as per usual.
good live stream?
Markov’s long lost child
——————
GWG = game winning gionta!
hey ron go habs go
Maybe PG can close the deal for Penner tonight & he can travel to Vancouver with the Habs tomorrow!
Mr. Bean’s daughter is HOT … MEOW!
So it seems like CBC really is rooting for the Oilers. Man I wish I could understand French cause I’d watch RDS.
Semantics. It was a veiled prediction of 0-3.
Dude, everyone knows Markov is Mr. Bean.
Max Pac looks like Dr. Ox though.
Hey Boone, how is being worried about this trip a predicition?
Let’s hope the NiftyFifty(Pou,DD,White,)pop a coulpe goals tonight!
Pacioretty = Mr. Bean
you are right Boone. I always watch on RDS, the CBC kills me as does the Toronto Sports Network
Oh boy Habs lets get off to a fast start. We need these points.
Boo to user comments not being used… Liked having some back and forth during the blogs.
And gangsta apparently.
Boone.. your way funnier in writing…
sorry bro

Don’t dis da Booner or he bust a cap in yo a$$.
lmao, mr. boone looks like hes about to rob a bank
** Buck Fruins **
The Habs are 1-0 in the Outdoor Classics. 2-0 sunday night!
Sounds more like export a green.
mmmmm beeer “After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
Here we go
White and needy
Two packs a day when I quit in 1985. Throat was ruined for life. It works for Debra Winger. For me, not so much.
Right on! Now we just need to work on the Centre Bell roaming Boone-feed.
Boone – dude – if you’re going to do video you really need a better microphone… or stop smoking Craven A’s..
Lovin’ the lid Mike.
***Subbang!!!***
Was Weird Al’s song “White and Nerdy” inspired by Boone?
I keed I keed
.
Calgary is a-light again with the Flames, and Sunday’s game is going to be a lot of fun for everyone. You can’t go far without seeing one of those god-awful jerseys. Ugh!
Boone you should do play by play
MORE LIKE 1/2 Afganie black oil hash and gitanes splifs……….
Rubbing the baby belly for luck!
This anthem singer is terrible.

And man…Pyatt looks like a vampire in your avatar.
He’s in Montreal, he’s probably gettin some of that awesome Jamaican gum.
The only confidence boost Eller needed was to be taken off Gomez’s line.
Go Habs !! We will surprise everyone out West !
Go Habs !! We will surprise everyone out West !
ughhhh picard..
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
lets go oilers go habs go
The Bulin Wall!
Why is Jim Vandermeer still in the league? He’s a joke.
There should have been a hooking, a holding, and a high-sticking call there. White just got worked over.
Nice play by Picard on Jones
Love the bilingual anthem.
Quick, trade Picard for Crosby while his value is still high.
who the f is Ryan Jones???
ALLONS-Y! LET’S GO HABS WOOO!
Did anyone notice White getting absolutely mugged at the half-boards? That’s pre-lockout crap.
Eller could benefit greatly from some time in the AHL in my opinion. Look what it did for Max. He is having a good game..but does that make up for the 50 other games where he didn’t score and looked a bit out of place? No. Confidence boost for that kid and he’ll be dangerous.
How about instead of sending Eller down to Hamilton we send Moen and Gomez?
did the refs fall asleep? or were they paid off?
I agree as I moved out to Vancouver 11 years ago and every game they have played here against the Canucks has been awful. I’ve stopped going to the games when they come here as Canuck fans are so annoying when their team wins. At least I get some pay back when the Canucks do their annual playoff choke.
I understand your sentiment, but you might be exaggerating a little bit there
If Moen had hands, he would be a perennial all-star. Though the pass from Hammer left a lot to be desired.
Agreed. The new format is much more cumbersome to follow, even if you turn viewer comments off. The old way was clearly-presented and I’m not at all a fan of this new method. Last game, I just gave up on reading it all together, one more try and if it’s still bad, may just switch to reading the after-game analyses only.
Can we go back to original Boone-commenting?
I miss that empty white box at the bottom of these posts… It used to be so filled of hope, potential, and promise…
Taking tonight as an example, he would have had 2 goals by now based on his positioning and the quality of his chances.
Mike Boone: Thug Life.
LOL – never mind typing, he should rap the blog onscreen.
Why would he do that
Wasn’t wearing shorts today, but definitely thought about it.
Hey. I hear you’re not goin’?
***Subbang!!!***
Then the Classic should be a humdinger.
Conditions, and the ice, should be perfect for the Classic! And the Flames are playing scary good (I see a lot of them, as I live in Calgary); if Habs manage to beat them, the occasion will be memorable, indeed!
Hammer is senile in his old age.
Agreed.
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
Can I be the one who actually likes the new format? I don’t have to refresh and I can just leave the window open. Good stuff.
This is not the style we want to play.
Your sources are reliable, it’s true.
Don vanMassenhoeven is working his first Canadiens game since that mess in Boston
So we meet in Siberia – small world innit?
I am with you on that one boone , the ol cbc ( Constantly bash canadiens).. p.s. boone you may have the best job in the world..
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
this games has the potential to be very tough as it may be one of the games of the year for the oiler players…we have to be ready as the oilers could be really up for this game and couldl be flying…we have had tough games vs oilers last 2 years…
Hey forwards: you can’t just chill on the red line and except a beautiful outlet pass. Come back!
BooneTV!
Wiz off to the hospital
“Start the season with a clean equipment bag and a freah bucket of febreze!”-CharlieHodgeFan
recchi’s inching his way to 600 goals, 574 now.
think he can do it? (not this season of course)
The live scrolling feature is cool.
good push back
i think its comical that they have moen playing in front of the net .. hahah! seriously.
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
No biggie, I’ll take Nash. Needs a couple games in the BIGS anyway.
no return for Wiz!! but not in the Eye, should be ok!
probably better than the game
JM HAS to get Nash out there more in the 2nd. He cannot win this game with 4 defense.
great back check by Max
2nd period better get off to better start or I’m hitting the bed. Getting late on the East Coast
representing!
not before you watch bikini destanation ron lol
That didn’t look like Rynbend helping Wiz, he travels with the team doesn’t he?
“Start the season with a clean equipment bag and a freah bucket of febreze!”-CharlieHodgeFan
Edmonton gets away with more cross-checking than almost any team we’ve played this year.
Black Snake Moen
Hands of Stoen
ahhhh moen … could not shoot the puck in the ocean which makes perfect sense to put him with gomez?
“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.

Oilers 1 – Price 0
Maybe the Habs will be awake come the start of the 2nd.
Hammer needs to go & go NOW!

“After 13 years, I couldn’t accept to be number two.“ Guy Lafleur.
lol wow thats weird they didnt score there
absolutely no intensity, better pick it up or it’s going to be a long night
Can someone remind them that they’re playing the Oilers, and not the Flyers? Thanks.
