What is this “measuring stick” game nonsense? It’s been said about quite a few teams the habs beat, like San Jose. Even if they lose tonight I’m not going to see the sky as falling. This is a good team, win or lose. For once in many years they play as a TEAM not just on the back of one or two skilled individuals who show up “when they feel like it”.
agreed. and it one of the reasons why they are successful. If the refs really called the game right in any game philly played, they’d be in the box all night.
Wow that brawl was brutal. Who punches the goalie without being provoked? Considering this isnt the first incident in the KHL, that league is losing credibility fast
Welp, I think tonight’s game will be a better indication of where we stand as a team.
If Toronto beats us tomorrow I wouldn’t think too much on it because we all know the S U C K but they play like their lives depended on it against us every time.
Tonight will be a more interesting game to watch, for sure. Can MTL handle the West’s cream of the crop?
there are lot of champonship caliber teams that i hate ( colts, chelesea, boston celtics, washington caps, canucks, yankees and many others,, did i mention th colts, god i hate the COLTS with passion.) but the wings i like , dunno why
Good post, and I completely agree. My support for HNIT ended when they decided to glorify that odious TOAD Tie Dummy on the same night that Boom Boom Geoffrion’s number was to be retired, the same night that he passed away, and YET the CBC basically pissed on the Montreal Canadien’s by doing what they did imho. Some day the CBC will lose saturday night hockey and I for one will not shed one bloody tear over it.
One side-effect of having OTL’s which displeases me is the fact they aren’t included in a ‘Streak’ in the standings.
The Red Wings have lost 3 games in a row – though the first of those was an OTL – leaving Montreal and Boston as the only two teams without a 3 game losing streak.
Center Ice carries the Habs games EXCEPT when NHL Network airs the games. Only problem is NHL Network is not shown on my cable carrier here (Time Warner).
Both the games this weekend (against Detroit and Toronto) are on NHL Network. Wonderful..
So I am relegated to watching the games on my computer .. JustinTV.
I think we all know that Don Cherry completely advocates settin players straight, and just like Mike Richards, he supported someone trying to teach PK a lesson physically – an irrepsonsible message for a commentator to be sending. Also, in terms of the reply you received, Cherry having watched PK develop is not in any way praising him, it is a statement of fact. The CBC trying to pass this off as Cherry supporting PK is unfounded. As I’ve always said, the CBC has not been relevant for many years. Their views are Toronto-centric, overly supportive of the league, and in Cherry’s case are often biased and bordering on hateful and racist.
I got the same kind of answer from the CBC as everyone else did regarding Don Cherry.
Here it is…
Your
email concerning comments made by Don Cherry about P.K. Subban
following the first game of Hockey Night in Canada’s November 27
doubleheader was forwarded to me for reply by the Office of the CBC
Ombudsman and the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications
Commission.
It is unfortunate that you believe Don’s comments represented a “hateful vendetta” against player P.K. Subban.
For
a number of weeks, Subban’s play has been topic for players, coaches,
fans, and the media. Don’s job as a commentator is to talk about the hot
issues around the league, and this is a hot topic.
I
have reviewed the tapes of Don’s short comments about Subban on
November 27 and comments he made about this player earlier in November. I
must strongly disagree with your assessment of them. He did he say
anything which could be construed as “openly encouraging violence.” He
neither “incited” nor “justified” violence toward Subban. Indeed, he has
not only praised Subban’s talent – noting that Subban is a player Don
has known of and watched develop for many years – but he also stated
outright that he did not condone players deliberately hurting each
other.
Again, thank you for writing. I’ve shared your comments with my colleagues at HNIC.
Best game of the season and I have to go out with the wife and others after the first period. Then I ditch them to play a game and will not start watching the second period until after 1am. Not much sleeping tonight. Go Habs!
Can’t be easy to convince a bunch of guys that there are 82 games, every single one of which counts. You gotta admire the coaches & captains who can get their players into that mindset.
Does anyone know if Louis Leblanc and Michael Bournival are playing their QMJHL hockey game tonight? Was thinking about checking them out but I’m worried they might not be there because of the World Juniors camp.
That’s an awful lot of debate over which rookie D-man sits and which plays.
I have missed the past three games and the Habs have won ‘em all (was directing a play, couldn’t be helped) so I will be sitting the games out until they lose. What this means is I haven’t even seen Weber.
Welcome back Dean Dalley, Priceberg, Newfie Dawg, and god knows how many others you’ve had. That was quick. Quick piece of advice, insulting the guy who has access to the ban-hammer is not a wise move.
I had a real issue with pleky’s penalty. It was a weak call and pleky was walking in alone. We very well could have come out of the first up 2-0 instead of being tied.
Sweet! Just don’t give the Wings a fourth goal now!!

Pleks clearly chopped at Rafalski. It was a penalty. Was Rafalski a little soft on the play? Sure. But regardless it was a clear penalty. Not even a little doubt there. Pleks did not go for the puck. He took a clear chop at Rafalski’s body.
Just saying your post about not letting up a 4th goal was amazing. I mean nobody on earth was thinking that. It was not obvious either. Like I said, amazing insight. I appreciate you bringing that to my attention. If it was not for you, I would not have even thought about the consequences of Detroit scoring a 4th goal. Thank you sir. Please give me some more insightful comments.
61.1 Slashing – Slashing is the act of a player swinging his stick at an opponent, whether contact is made or not. Non-aggressive stick contact to the pant or front of the shin pads, should not be penalized as slashing. Any forceful or powerful chop with the stick on an opponent’s body, the opponent’s stick, or on or near the opponent’s hands that, in the judgment of the Referee, is not an attempt to play the puck, shall be penalized as slashing.
It was an expression of support. Are you not being a little hysterical?

They will call it every time if the guys stick gets chopped in two, but you don’t have to break a guys stick to get that call.
I understand your frustration. There are calls made that could have been let go, but it was not a stretch to make those calls tonight. I thought Rafalski was a bit late on sticking out the hip on Plekanec who did not have the puck, but that’s the way it goes some times. There were some borderline calls that could have gone either way and as a Hab fan I sure would have liked to see them go Montreal’s way more tonight, but I just don’t see blaming this game on the officiating. There were not any brutally obvious mistakes that I saw, but that’s just how I saw it.
no doubt ak46 has played much better this year but he has to score in big games and vs elite teams…he cannot keep chocking on his scoring chances in these type of games like he did in the entire playoffs except for one game
Don’t blame the refs for this game so far. There may have been some borderline calls, but the Habs have to play smarter and stop taking dumb stick penalties in the other teams end. You just can’t take that many penalties against a team like Detroit.
Detroit certainly has had the benefit of the sixth man tonight, and I am not referring to their fans….

It comes from advertiser’s. Which is driven by traffic. The more traffic, the more a company is willing to pay to have their advertisements displayed. No?
I don’t get it, with the obscene amount of traffic you guy’s get here you’d think HIO would be able to afford a decent server that doesn’t crash every 2 minutes?
This game is retarded. To open the period Datsyuk chops Gill’s stick
in half, then Zetterberg grabs the puck out of the air, holds it for
over a second and changes it’s direction to put it on his own stick, and
MONTREAL gets another penalty. These are the kinds of games that lead
people to believe hockey is rigged. Utter BS.
I understand that there are servers that are perfectly capable of handling the traffic generated here, and there are cheap alternatives that crash every five minutes.
Good old Detroit. Always hated these clowns. Hook and hold all day long and never get called. You even touch one of those guys and their diving all over the place. Watching them get booted out of the playoffs is always a great joy of mine.
The wings are a good team i still feel we can play with them and beat them when we see them next (cup finals) so long as we don’t take a bunch of penalties

You are missing the point. This guy is making it out to be some huge deal.
Arod walks over the mound? Who cares.
Stealing signs in baseball? Who cares.
Thowing at a batter? Who cares.
Shooting a 3 and staring down the other bench? Who cares.
Hanging on the rim? Who cares.
Grabbing some man junk at the bottom of a pile? Who cares.
Point is, this happens ALL THE TIME!! These so called unwriten rules are broken all game long by all players. It is no big deal at all. Is he disrespectful? No. Is someone gonna take his head off? No. Give it a break.
That is the second time I have seen him do that. If you think that is cool, then fine. I don’t.

It is no different than slamming the puck into the boards like Cammalleri has done numerous times after a penalty or offsides is called. Eller just happened to slam the puck forward. You are reaching big time! MANY player just shoot the puck the length of the ice in disgust after a call etc.
Hi Boone, I love this site, and I know there are financial requirements and expectations with a site like this, but man that banner ad is annoying — the one that follows you around and covers the bottom bit of the page no matter how much you scroll…
The columnist is being chastised for nothing. Honestly, I think he’s right (not the racism undertones but the overall message). There are very few interesting things that come out of hockey players or the media for that matter. You know why I read the online eeeee-mail? Because it isn’t the same boring formula we catch from all the other reporters. No disrespect to Mr. Hickey, but his game story is as dry as a 90 year old hooker. Give me Mr. Boone, Mr. Gomez and Mr. Subban anyday.
Not to sound like an elitist, but this is ENTERTAINMENT.. ENTERTAIN ME!!!!
Maybe that’ll provoke a little more activity on this board!
Am going north tonight and won’t have my RDS/PVR connection. Will have to watch CBC on a rabbit ear signal on an old TV … where’s the damn puck? At least the Buffoon (McLean) and the Bonehead (Cherry) will be nicely blurry.
Go Habs … a win in Detroit will be yet another statement game (there’s been a few of those lately).
Oops, just went over to Main page and noticed that PK is in. That’s great … too bad it has to mean Weber sits. What a great problem to have! Two great young defencemen who have trouble breaking into the lineup. If the Leafs were their team instead of the Habs, they’d both be playing every game with lots of minutes. Pity the Leafs, that’s all you can do.
If we could get some Habs fans at the Joe to throw a waffle or two at Howard we might distract him…it really screwed with Beauchemin last night…he looked dazed…should be a Belgium waffle…
Hughson just said “the Canadiens not only survived the first 10 minutes, but they even got a few chances”, seriously? They have one of the best records in the league for a reason!
this isn’t David vs Goliath, for Chrsit’s sake!! Montreal is a real contender from the East. This will be a good match, but it’s a shame if they have to make it into an underdog thing. This will be a good marker for the redwings too!!
The thing that impresses me about the Red Wings organization is their ability to retain and re-sign their players. Could you imagine Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lidstrom playing elswhere?? They have a winning attitude that drips down from management and has given them years of success. I hope the Habs can start something like that. I also hope the redwings lose their next 20 games!!
I got so sick of it after a period that I watched the rest of the game on RDS. From the way the game is being called you would think the Wings were Canada’s team. That or hockey gods
yep. i watched it. you play your stars at that point in the game. i could understand it if those players had scored tonight. they didn’t. cammi was motivated back in michigan. gionta was fresh, from not playing much earlier. for what it’s worth, darche and laps played 11 minutes each. he (jm) wasn’t double shifting them toward the end. he was using eller (who was on the ice), pouliot, and cammi…
btw, i love the immediate response “did you watch it”. very thoughtful.
I can’t believe all the slobbering over Howard for the save on Subban. It was a one handed chip under pressure going about half a km/h. The media just wants so much to love Detroit. ****ing pathetic. And Howard gets 1st star for one period’s work.
This league needs to take a good long look at how terrible the officiating is, it’s inexcusable for a professional sports league. Today was a ***ing gong show.
We are often guilty of blaming the refs for a loss.
In this case, it is legitimate. You could see how an official might call the penalties that were called on the Habs. Sure, OK, we deserved our penalties.
But how the Red Wings got away with only 1 minor penaity, and none in the third when they were scrambling for 20 minutes, is absolutely MIND BOGGLING.
By far the worst-officiated game of the season. By far. Disgraceful. Pathetic.
Getting taunted via text messages from Wings fans in my beer league…
Fack them Wings…good effort by the Habs tonight…showed they can play…PG needs to get us the icing on the cake with that Cap space because this team is for real…
An important announcement from the Government of Canada:

More horse crap officiating. In the last 4 there were at least two obvious penalties (a hook and an interference call on the ‘venerable’ Lidstrom). Played ‘em hard, got hosed, we could take them to 7, and potentially win a series. As long as we don’t get that damned Swede as a ref.
All I know is we played pretty damn good in the third and didn’t quit. Red Wings only had one penalty, gimme a break, worst reffing of the season thus far against us. BS!! I think we play them again and we will destroy them..they are not that good!
I’m not usually one to blame officials for losses. And I certainly won’t directly blame them for this one, our boys had several chances that they could have buried.
However, and a big however due to the five penalties called against the Habs in the first 22 minutes of the game to Detroit’s none. Yeah, none.
Now people who don’t like to criticize officials will say that there wasn’t a penalty called in the third period and that the officials just let the teams play hockey. That statement, or similar statements couldn’t be further from the truth. The Red Wings through pics on every shift, hooked and held on the walls and the most disgusting non call on the night for me was in the first period…..Pleks was on a one on three rush, shorthanded of course and was held for more than five seconds by Lidstrom with no call made.
Our penalty killers were tired at the end of the first and that played a part in giving up a goal which proved to be mighty important now didn’t it.
The Wings were allowed to do what they wanted, when they wanted, quite reminiscent of the two playoff series against the Capitals and Penguins last season.
In spite of the loss I am tremendously proud of the team for the fight they showed not only against unfair officiating, and it was, but also a very game opponent.
We lost but this was a positive game. We were the better team. 10 minutes shorthanded in the first two periods was the difference. The Wings were lost in the third. They could not play with us and by the looks of them at the end I think they know it. You could see it in Babcocks’ face. Sort of an “Uh-oh. These guys are for real.”
GUTLESS refs!, You mean to tell me that Detroit only did one thing wrong? Call the Peace prize comitte in Stockholm! According to the refs, that was the best display of passive resistance since Ghandi!
Years we’ve been saying this Andrew. Years. They won’t look at the officiating. It will never get any better as long as the present management is in place on both sides, the league and the NHLOA.
Lapierre was dominant in the Red Wing zone tonight, Darche has been one of our best offensive players for weeks and Spacek was our best defenseman tonight.
The Habs demonstrated that, when the reffin’ is consistent, they can go toe-to-toe, if not outright take it to the ostensibly mighty Wings. Solid team effort in the 3rd.
Tomorrow night at the ACC: Operation Pack Yer Bags, Ronnie
Like I said below, the important thing, at this stage, is that we be competitive with elite teams for a full 60 minutes. Give us a 7-game series with the Wings, and you’ll see an all-out war.
Or, maybe the Habs just take a lot of legit penalties.
Give them credit for putting up a fight against an actually superior team. The Habs don’t have a Datsyuk and a Zetterberg, much less a Lidstrom. Banged up Habs don’t even have a Gomez.
I only watched the third, but I thought Subban looked pretty tentative. I liked Picard’s game.
An important announcement from the Government of Canada:

You know what the worst thing is? Tonights officiating is considered a job well done by the NHL. If you look at the Campbell/Walkom emails they applaud letting everything go in close games, especially in the third.
Gotta get back to working on math, so I’m gonna keep this short. I’m so pissed at those idiots in the striped shirts tonight, they ruined what was otherwise a fun game to watch. I wouldn’t have had a problem losing tonight, had the game been actually called fairly. That Swede they had as the ref was obviously mesmerized by Lidstrom and Zetterberg, and forgot to call the roughly 10 million holding penalties the Wings committed. I mean, honestly, it was getting stupid towards the end, and to start the game off with 6 penalties in a row? This is like the Carolina game last year where we took the first 11 penalties! I say next game we take a page out of that movie “The Longest Yard”. If the refs don’t wanna call a fair game, just keep firing pucks at them till they do!
After tomorrow night, three off nights before a couple of big games next week. I’d be tempted to play Price in the next three and have Auld take Sunday against the Avs.
If a guy keeps shooting the puck at you and your co-workers at 100mph you gonna start waving off some icings against them or let their players get away with a bit more?
Well, had you watched it, you would have noticed that the shift with Lappy et al started with about 1:40 left. Too early to put your stars on. The last shift of the game would have started about 40 seconds later, and that’s when you would have seen Gionta, Plex, Cammi.
So while you might have been watching the game, you really weren’t thinking about what you were watching.
You are simply a poor deprived person, who needs special attention, by a team of doctors ! That is simply the worst game by a team of Refs for a long time! ten minutes short handed! and the Red wings Did ONLY ONE THING WRONG!!, that is crap and your comment is crap!
martin was double shifting plecs for minutes before that. he was going for it. this was a chance an aggressive coach would have taken. faceoff in the offensive zone. play your stars. cammi and gionta were well rested from not playing much earlier. if you don’t want them on the ice, at least go with pouliot. he just scored and IMO was playing at least as well as laps and darche.
you don’t even understand things when they are s-p-e-l-l-e-d out for you. so don’t bother to pretend you understood the game play in real time.
It’s all about winning the battles now. Get the puck deep, forecheck hard, and win the battles. If they don’t do that, they can’t break the Detroit phalanx.
This reminds me of some of those games last season when the team started to show signs of the elusive gelling so many checkled about. They’re working together now and I like their no quit attitude.
Thank you, referees. Hey, Red Wings, great work with the holding, really good stuff. One of the most frustrating games of the year (and I was at the Oilers collapse.)
That isn’t really how Pleks plays. It was likely a charlie horse. Something that hurts really bad but goes away fairly shortly. I doubt he was lying there for looks.
they don’t want him there!!
Usually the rule is that the worse player you are, the better analyst you make, because you have to study the game harder. Healy is huge exception to that rule. Dumb and useless!!
Although Weber may be disapointed that he was pulled from the lineup, he has to be happy with how he acquitted himself in the time he was given. I can see him being a third pairing/PP guy for some time to come.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!! Well, you can tell from the look on the bench that these guys hate losing. Can’t fault the effort, just the officiating a little.
A tough but honourable loss. The Habs can beat the Red Wings. I look forward to their next matchup!

That was the weakest hooking call I’ve ever seen. This is beginning to remind me of last season against detroit when we were shorthanded for 9 straight minutes because of BGL being an idiot.
This penalty BS is getting out of hand. Rafalski puts a potentially season-threatening hit on our best player, no call. But they’re calling everything they can against the habs.
Habs got hosed by the refs in Detroit. Not the first team that will happen to and not the last. Stanley Cup winners get a lot of slack; it’s just part of the way the NHL has always operated. Habs got LOTS of calls in the glorious 70`s..Islanders in the 80` etc. But this was the kind of officiating that drives me nuts. Have a 6-1 advantage in calls to start the game, get Detroit all the momentum and then ..let the boys play!!! in the 3rd. That’s horse spit.
Having said that, you can see how we despartely need another top 6 forward. Beyond desparate actually. I am through waiting for Kostitsyn and Pouliot to magically turn into clutch performers. They are each players with ability and AK can be dominant at times for sure..but he’s just not a guy over 10 games who will consistently bring it. And he never will, IMO. Just not enough fire in his gut.
Perhaps with that sal cap room (Markov) we can do something about it. The nasty part of me wishes Gomez would go away for the rest of the year as well. I know ..I KNOW..he contributes and he would probably have been a big help tonight with his speed, in particular. But he is the kind of player who makes my teeth hurt when he plays…Yep, that’s my scientific analysis of his talents. Hey, if we get Brad Richards (and it ain’t happening but..) maybe Ron Maclean and HNIC would have to pretend to like the Habs. That would be cool cause they actively root against them as it stands now. They don’t do that when the Sens or Leafs or Canucks or Oilers or Flames play…fancy that.
Is Hal Gill the biggest giveaway machine in the NHL? Good lord…he finds another way to hand the puck to the opposing forward every game that I haven’t seen before. And his sticks seem to break just by looking at them. Tonight one of them broke when a high pass hit it! Why do lumbering d-men with no shot need one of those tootpicks anyway. Get a piece of wood, man. You’re not Bobby Orr. Or McInnes. Or Guy Lapointe.
It’s a nice team overall and watching the Red Wings tonight made me see how HockeyTown is just a tad past its prime as a contender. Still a threat but they don’t scare me like they used to. Other teams are younger and more dangerous but they don’t have Carey Price. I Like our team, Our coach and the never say die attitude they display against superior teams. It will pay dividends later this year, I am sure of it.
There was a lack of discipline for a short period while they got 5 straight penalties. Some of the calls were weak. Unfair really when you look at the too many men and pleks’. Ref’s should try to be fair when they can. It was too much. Detroit is a really talented team and they played well.
I have to say we really missed Gomez tonight. I really believe we would have done much better, and not gotten ourselves in as many holes with him.
Very happy to see us come back like that. We deserved more, but got killed by a goalie who pulled a Price on us. Missing 2 great players we kept it close with Detroit. In the end we have a chance this season. I hope we KILL Toronto tomorrow.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…

Hold it behind the net and kill the clock. It was a good idea but the execution was lacking…and kudos to Holmstrom for going back there and not just letting Josh do it.
At this stage of the season, the most important thing is that we battle, play intelligently, and keep it competitive for a full 60 minutes. Neither of these teams is going to win handily. The key here is to keep what Cammy calls our “compete level” high for a full 60 minutes, so that even if the Wings win, it’ll have been a game that could have plausibly gone our way. Come spring, where we get up to 7 attempts at each team we face, that’s what will matter most.
Yeah. I think he could have done better. But, with that being said, he was dead-tired. You can’t get too mad at a guy when he’s barely able to stand up out there. Still a good period considering what the referees were doing out there.
I too am not happy about the officiating. But the honour derived from the thrid period effort.

I can’t believe they called Plekanec for HOLDING. What a joke. The ref saw a Wing go down and just made up his mind to call it then had to think of something fast. Four straight penalties. They are handing it to them.
The NHL looks like a joke with refs like this that was a disgrace, Price has a Detroit players stick shoved into his glove and he was ready to call the Habs. Plek was intrfered with that late cheap shop hip check no call and Gill was trip in front of the net killing a penalty. Yea refs miss a few all against the Wings. I would love to own the Habs for one reason, When crap like this goes on I could fly to NY and meet Bettman and lay off and bam right betweenhis eyesand known that a-hole right on his back. Then tell him if your refs pull a joke like that again I’ll be back.
Habs need stick to the game plan and not give the refs any more excuses. Their calls are a hair beyond the margin – somethin’ I imagine Cammy was sharin’ with the ref durin’ the timeout – but it’s a bit late in the game to go marchin’ on NHL headquarters.
There’s no reason why the Habs can’t use their own speed to even things up with guys like Rafalski and Bertuzzi out there.
The Ref is a Swede calling a Swedish League game; expect more of the same!
All his homeboys in Detroit know how to avoid the calls.
“The Allo Police Media – a collection of bitter ex-coaches, players and wannabees whose collective lack of success accounts for their present positions in Sports’ equivalent of a Jerry Springer Show”
If the Gazette is serious about this whole “online newspaper” thing, then it’s time to hire some proper techies – the repeated server crashing is beyond frustrating.
I’m not one to mention officiating in loss, because regardless of the hand dealt to you you’re still responsible for busting your ass and and playing responsible hockey. But CBC just showed the replay of Subban having his stick held–no call–and Pleks being called for holding on what should have, if anything, been called a slash tells me that calls are being made on the basis of the aftermath of the play, and the infraction itself is being missed. That isn’t good enough.
Blaming the refs for this loss is no excuse. The Habs got outplayed in the 1st and got called for it. But it was fun to watch two high flying teams play instead of the clutch and grab common in the league. If Howard keeps this up, Wings win the cup this year. This was a great matchup…I would love to see a rematch in June.
The league needs to have more original six match ups. Hab fans travel well and it would be nice to see the teams play home and away series. Buttman for some reason insists on having lame schedules that deny true hockey markets from thriving. We deserve better games and this weekend would have been perfect to showcase the habs/wings game at the largest outdoor venue in the world. Today the hockey attendance record will be shattered in Michigan when UM/MSU play…I can see a 117,000 stadium filled with a classic rivalry like the Habs/Wings. Detroit is only 3.5 hours from Toronto and 8 from Montreal, but they might as well be on the other side of the globe.
Any ways, the NHL needs to celebrate its heritage more and that starts with Original 6 teams playing at least twice each season if not more. And one of those matchups should have at least one outdoor venue!
This game is not a true representation of a Habs-Wings matchup. Some very questionable penalties completely ruined a good tilt. MTL has been even – territorially – with DET when not killing a penalty. The only glaring mistake was Pouliot’s gross turnover on the boards that led to Datsyuk’s goal.
Someone needs to say something to Eller about shooting the puck into the opponent’s empty net. That is the kind of thing a Philadelphia Flyer would do.

Two fast, skilled teams: This will be fun to watch. No Chris Neil/Patrick Kaleta crap
________________________________
No, but I’m sure lapierre will yap a bit. It’s funny how Lapierre plays like crap when he runs his mouth. Does anyone else notice that? When he is effective, he’s scoring or controlling the puck, not spouting off. I think sometimes he thinks that his yapping is integral to the team or something. It inly works when you play good, Lappy, so keep playing like you have been.
Watching on CBC, and when they interviewed Babcock he had a lot of praise for his opponent and also said Price is the best goalie in the league right now (can’t argue with that)
Hockey Inside/Out encourages lively debate, but there is a zero-tolerance policy regarding racism, profanity and behaviour that we deem to be offensive.
We will, without warning, ban those who do not abide by this simple rule, so as to maximize the enjoyment of readers and participants of both sexes and all ages.
Just askin, (and none of my biness)but what did Newfie Dawg do?
Babcock just said Price was the best goaltender in the league right now….also had lots of praise for the habs
It’s a secret clause Sather worked into his contract, he got to pick one team he would never have to play, so he chose the Wings.
So win or lose, go habs go
agreed. and it one of the reasons why they are successful. If the refs really called the game right in any game philly played, they’d be in the box all night.
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Worst. Birthday. Ever.
Wow that brawl was brutal. Who punches the goalie without being provoked? Considering this isnt the first incident in the KHL, that league is losing credibility fast
The new Habs don’t need a distraction like Kovy now. They need a guy that shows up every game and plays the team plan.
I expect PK to be a little more conservative now that he has had the view from the top. We don’t need hot dogs we need relish.
Montrealers always have a big measuring stick, we should do movies
only lushes drink chardonnay. Boone like Boones!!!
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Welp, I think tonight’s game will be a better indication of where we stand as a team.
If Toronto beats us tomorrow I wouldn’t think too much on it because we all know the S U C K but they play like their lives depended on it against us every time.
Tonight will be a more interesting game to watch, for sure. Can MTL handle the West’s cream of the crop?
lol, sorry. Its a tough day for me to forget since it happened on my birthday 15 years ago.
Hard to hate a team that plays hockey the right way. Tons of skill, little to no goonery.
Didn’t Gomez miss last year’s game against the Wings as well?
there are lot of champonship caliber teams that i hate ( colts, chelesea, boston celtics, washington caps, canucks, yankees and many others,, did i mention th colts, god i hate the COLTS with passion.) but the wings i like , dunno why
.::DON’T MESS WITH THE MOENATOR!::.
I’m willing to bet there won’t be a tie.
Why did you have to bring that up!!!
There’s a reason that Kovalev gets called out on every team he plays on.
Some day the CBC will lose saturday night hockey and I for one will not shed one bloody tear over it.
haha, not bad Mr. Dagger
Sucks bro, I’m living in North Carolina and I watch only on my computer now too
Lets not have a repeat performance from 15 years and 8 days ago against the redwings.
So the Wings are either going to win or lose tonight. Got it.
Sorry, Mr. Boone
wow. l’antichambre turning into l’attaque a 5, first it was michel langevin, now tony marinaro, whos next jean perron, and pierre page

You hate Cherry? You must be a left wing pinko!!! hahaha
he is such a moron!!
If you’re a University student and serious about your studies? Then tonight and tomorrow night. Otherwise you’re just mailing it in…
I was being ironic. See the Prediction
Detroit has just lost their last three games in a row. How many times does that happen?
They are either going to continue their early season slump, or they are going to come out ready to kick butt.
It’s all up to Carey Price in the first period. If we can survive, then we just might pull off an upset.
Can you ask him about the Iggy for PK rumour ?
The Canadiens have never lost to Detroit on a Friday in December
merci MR. boone. jynx for the night?
.::DON’T MESS WITH THE MOENATOR!::.
One side-effect of having OTL’s which displeases me is the fact they aren’t included in a ‘Streak’ in the standings.
The Red Wings have lost 3 games in a row – though the first of those was an OTL – leaving Montreal and Boston as the only two teams without a 3 game losing streak.
As much as I’m not a Kovalev fan, I have to agree with him a bit about how he’s treated in Ottawa.
Going crazy down here in San Diego..
JustinTV.
The Canadiens have never lost to Detroit on a Friday in December
Uh Oh!! The Boone jinx, I prefer your ” I have a bad feeling about this one” or the like….
Maybe Dave saw wrong Hockey Night?
http://media.turku.fi/kamera1.html
I hate them too, but I respect the team they have.
Sincerely,
David Masse

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
I see Nordiques fans are sending another message that they want a team there…
didn’t you get the memo? the season is just an 82 game measuring stick to see where you can start the playoffs
- Gomez is holding down the suck button
Also, if they were trying to send a message with a pastry (are waffles pastries?) I feel they should have thrown turnovers on the ice. Message sent.
I hate the Red Wings!
Go Habs Go
Friday Night Hockey = NOICE!
They Call Me Shane
Best game of the season and I have to go out with the wife and others after the first period. Then I ditch them to play a game and will not start watching the second period until after 1am. Not much sleeping tonight. Go Habs!
Maybe they are sending a message via anagrams…. WAFFLE = WE LAFF.
Montreal – Detroit > Montreal – Toronto

Could anybody please explain to me exactly what happened last night in Toronto with the waffles? What’s the deal?
Here’s wishing you never ever ever see another Habs Game!!!
Basically, they’re all must-win, yardstick games.
Can’t be easy to convince a bunch of guys that there are 82 games, every single one of which counts. You gotta admire the coaches & captains who can get their players into that mindset.
Thanks.
I figured they’d play tonight since the players are only arriving in camp tomorrow.
leblanc isnt playing for sure. im not sure about bournival but i would assume he isnt either
Just study all weekend.

Considering the Habs record when you study, I suggest you look to the greater good and hit the books tonight, it’s Detroit.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Finished an exam today, next is Nutrition of Sport next thursday. Beer and hockey on a friday, oh how I’ve missed you
But losing to the Leafs still sucks! Losing to Detroit, they ARE the best team no?
“It must be love!”
Tonight, it’s better if they beat the Wings. Leafs need points, it’s looking too good for Boston.

Seems like that to me too
The prodigal son returns to the lineup.
Should be a dandy in Motown
You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
Does anyone know if Louis Leblanc and Michael Bournival are playing their QMJHL hockey game tonight? Was thinking about checking them out but I’m worried they might not be there because of the World Juniors camp.
At least you don’t have to study tonight AND tomorrow
You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
Big question: Study tonight or study tomorrow?
“It must be love!”
That’s an awful lot of debate over which rookie D-man sits and which plays.
I have missed the past three games and the Habs have won ‘em all (was directing a play, couldn’t be helped) so I will be sitting the games out until they lose. What this means is I haven’t even seen Weber.

This is Montreal’s 29th measuring-stick game.
That’s how it seems to me, at any rate.
Yup,then afterwards we went to this strip bar called “fanny’s” in north bay and i think it was amateur crackwhore night. Very bad night all around.
Oh goody, no Knob Hole, just maybe I’ll give CBC a try…but I’ll probably switch to RDS lol!

He was taking some pot-shots @ Boone, so I would imagine Boone canned him.
That’s a chinzy call.
Hope Gill’s okay. He looked shaken up there.
Detroit is an intimidating team to watch the Habs play against.
great kill!
It look to me like the camera’s are a mile away from the ice surface.
It’s one thing to have a heated argument, its quite another to be disrespectful. Stay classy… PLANET EARTH
Eller looks fantastic tonight.
Bah. Right into his stomach.
Seems to be a lot of empty seats in Hockeytown.
Welcome back Dean Dalley, Priceberg, Newfie Dawg, and god knows how many others you’ve had. That was quick. Quick piece of advice, insulting the guy who has access to the ban-hammer is not a wise move.
Jim Hughston reminds me of the old NHL ’98 game, grew to love the voice, and loath the fact that he normally only does Leaf games
Some old arenas don’t have the best sight lines. Than again, some of the modern ones suck too, like ATL.

agreed!
I’ve said it a million times but Eller looks better every game. Haven’t seen a player improve this consistently and this quickly in a while.
Brunet just blamed PK for another sliding error!!! Yeah he took out Spatch but the play he made was great and it worked.
Lot of unemployment in Hockeytown unfortunately.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
it’s Detroit, probably one of the scariest cities in the US so not surprising
I can take plenty. But not cheap insults on my own blog.
Eller not happy with himself shooting in the middle of the net

“I went to see a fight the other night…And A hockey game broke out!” ~Rodney Dangerfield~
it’s not looking good, but things happen when Eller’s on the ice
WTF!
I had a real issue with pleky’s penalty. It was a weak call and pleky was walking in alone. We very well could have come out of the first up 2-0 instead of being tied.

Nice shot by benny. The guy has a cannon,he really needs to use it more often.
It’s frustrating at how good he can be sometimes.
- In Price We Trust
That was huge. I seriously think we ought to try pouliot on the point on the PP.
What a bullet.

Pleks clearly chopped at Rafalski. It was a penalty. Was Rafalski a little soft on the play? Sure. But regardless it was a clear penalty. Not even a little doubt there. Pleks did not go for the puck. He took a clear chop at Rafalski’s body.
I agree.
Detroit is a pleasure to watch. I love watching them on my Center Ice package.
Just a GREAT team!!

If the game was actually called by this rule there would be more time spent on the PP then 5 on 5.
Are you not take something a little to literal?
Another turning point? Pouliot loses the puck at the Wings’ blueline on a line change, Datsyuk rushes back up ice and scores. 3-1, ouch!
no doubt ak46 has played much better this year but he has to score in big games and vs elite teams…he cannot keep chocking on his scoring chances in these type of games like he did in the entire playoffs except for one game
I think that the referees keep screwing up our site. I really believe that this is a part of the nhl conspiracy.
Gotta claw our way back into it — With a little help from our friends the referees?
Just checked eBay for tickets for tomorrow night. Some douche is selling 4 golds (good seats) for $5. Shipping is $1800.
- In Price We Trust
Don’t blame the refs for this game so far. There may have been some borderline calls, but the Habs have to play smarter and stop taking dumb stick penalties in the other teams end. You just can’t take that many penalties against a team like Detroit.
If AK46 had of buried that cripple it’s a tie game
Detroit certainly has had the benefit of the sixth man tonight, and I am not referring to their fans….

Even CBC didn’t think that was a penalty and they hate us.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
No more penalties. This is ridiculous.
I don’t get it, with the obscene amount of traffic you guy’s get here you’d think HIO would be able to afford a decent server that doesn’t crash every 2 minutes?
I dont think you understand how the internet works bro…
This game is retarded. To open the period Datsyuk chops Gill’s stick
in half, then Zetterberg grabs the puck out of the air, holds it for
over a second and changes it’s direction to put it on his own stick, and
MONTREAL gets another penalty. These are the kinds of games that lead
people to believe hockey is rigged. Utter BS.
I understand that there are servers that are perfectly capable of handling the traffic generated here, and there are cheap alternatives that crash every five minutes.
absolutely brutal. The wings are hard enough to beat, without the refs making it worse.
The only thing in the world more frustrating that this game is this website. Oh the crashing!
And another bad read by PK.
Finally they call something so obvious
Hughson: first Habs PP of the game? Didn’t they score on one in the first?
Not a great night for the refs or commentators.
Wow. A call.
WTF is with the site issues. Its pissing me off more then the garbage officiating.
This game is officially bullsh!t
Brutal
Game over boys!! Tip your hat to Detroit.
Great show by Detroit tonight and we see why their so good. Better luck tomorrow night.
Zetterburg and Datsyuk could lead the league in scoring if they wanted to? Lol. Good luck to them. They need about 5-10 guys ahead of them to retire.
I’m going to go study. Let’s see if that helps them out! Go Habs!
“It must be love!”
Did Campbell send out a e-mail today wanting the Wings to win? These calls are sad.

Good old Detroit. Always hated these clowns. Hook and hold all day long and never get called. You even touch one of those guys and their diving all over the place. Watching them get booted out of the playoffs is always a great joy of mine.
I’m guessing the one ref who keeps calling shit on us is the swedish one.
Its not over, get through this period. any momentum we had was killed by the refs in the first & second

If it is no different than slamming a stick into the boards, then why players get so angry when it happens?

An important announcement from the Government of Canada:

Wow, man you are so reaching. Go back to blaming the refs for this game.
Players get mad if you face wash after a whistle.
PLayers get mad when you stand near the goalie after he covers it up.
Players get mad if you score a goal.
I mean come on. You are so ridiculous.
you’re the one that’s reaching- it’s an unwritten rule of hockey that you don’t shoot it on net after a whistle or into the open night.

MANY player just shoot the puck the length of the ice in disgust after a call etc.
complaining to the refs accomplishes nothing, remember Carbonneaus’ rants, they sure helped eh!
Maybe if the coach would complain to the Refs once in awhile they might pay attention
Amazing how well we can play when not getting the shaft from the refs

Kowal called all the penalties on the Habs, Vinnerborg called the lone one on the Wings

The guy’s being torn a new one in the article’s comment section.
Is PK in or out tonight? Here’s a link to a column by Cam Cole at the Vancouver Sun: http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Subban+benching+shame+conformity+wins/3954659/story.html
If we could get some Habs fans at the Joe to throw a waffle or two at Howard we might distract him…it really screwed with Beauchemin last night…he looked dazed…should be a Belgium waffle…

this isn’t David vs Goliath, for Chrsit’s sake!! Montreal is a real contender from the East. This will be a good match, but it’s a shame if they have to make it into an underdog thing. This will be a good marker for the redwings too!!
ga habs go!!
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
The thing that impresses me about the Red Wings organization is their ability to retain and re-sign their players. Could you imagine Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lidstrom playing elswhere?? They have a winning attitude that drips down from management and has given them years of success. I hope the Habs can start something like that. I also hope the redwings lose their next 20 games!!
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Is this a Red Wings broadcast or HNIC, I cant efin tell
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

That’s a loss I can take satisfaction from.
Story of this game…..bad line changes!
Datsuyk’s goal, too many men penalty and that empty netter!
I don’t know who is causing the confusion on the bench but whoever lost this one!
“The three stars as selected by Red Fisher of the Montreal Star:
1st star: Henri Richard
2nd Star: Doug Harvey
3rd Star: Jacques Plante
Final score Detroit Red Wings 5 Montreal Canadiens 3″
We are often guilty of blaming the refs for a loss.
In this case, it is legitimate. You could see how an official might call the penalties that were called on the Habs. Sure, OK, we deserved our penalties.
But how the Red Wings got away with only 1 minor penaity, and none in the third when they were scrambling for 20 minutes, is absolutely MIND BOGGLING.
By far the worst-officiated game of the season. By far. Disgraceful. Pathetic.
I am #%@#%#$%@ fuming right now.
Getting taunted via text messages from Wings fans in my beer league…
Fack them Wings…good effort by the Habs tonight…showed they can play…PG needs to get us the icing on the cake with that Cap space because this team is for real…
Oh Yeah…Fack that stupid Journey song too…
“Six more years…God Bless You Turtleneck Man!”
This game was decided before it even began. The half dozen blatant penalties they got away with in the third make that quite clear.
I guess Spacek will be benched for three games for that.
EXACTLY RIGHT, The game need to be called the same way in the 3rd as it is in the 1st, not so tonight. I loathe Glenn Douche bag Healy

PK was off balance when he made a half hearted stab at it. Howard is nothing special. A weak ass Tim Thomas clone that has zero technical skills.
And if this game was 5 minutes longer, Habs would have tied it. Great, great effort by Les Boys. Really proud of the effort. Awesome stuff.
1.40 left. down one. faceoff
to the left of howard. price is in
net. darche, laps, and spacek among the
five players out there. can someone
explain that?
And headed wide of the net.
habs didn’t lose because of penalties.
Detroit is a much better team. habs are supposed to be able to kill penalties but couldn’t.
and if habs had more talent they would have scored.
talent wins, excuses lose!
Years we’ve been saying this Andrew. Years. They won’t look at the officiating. It will never get any better as long as the present management is in place on both sides, the league and the NHLOA.
***Win or I toss these waffles!***
I agree. The officials were the difference. Dominating the third like that, the Wings just hanging on,there were tons of non calls on Detroit.
I guess one positive about this is our record after a loss heading into Toronto.
- In Price We Trust
Lapierre was dominant in the Red Wing zone tonight, Darche has been one of our best offensive players for weeks and Spacek was our best defenseman tonight.
Just my opinion on all three though.
Always funny when people post when they obviously weren’t watching the game.
Killed 5 of 6 and the only time they scored was on an undeserved 5-on-3, Habs were also missing Gomez and Markov.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Could have fooled me, looked to me like the Red Wings had 6 powerplay to our 1 and that we lost by a half foot on Boyd’s shot.
Nice try though.
HNIC is awful, If the Leafs aren’t playing its like well, lets just root against the Habs.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Loss in the books but arguably a moral victory.
The Habs demonstrated that, when the reffin’ is consistent, they can go toe-to-toe, if not outright take it to the ostensibly mighty Wings. Solid team effort in the 3rd.
Tomorrow night at the ACC: Operation Pack Yer Bags, Ronnie
Oh F*&% Off
Like I said below, the important thing, at this stage, is that we be competitive with elite teams for a full 60 minutes. Give us a 7-game series with the Wings, and you’ll see an all-out war.
If I was there tonight, I’d toss a waffle at the refs.
Full Breezer 4 Life
I often wonder, were I a coach or player in the NHL, if I would rip the refs afterwards and take the fine.
In the long run, it’s probably not worth it. NHL officials are a petty group – you screw them once, they screw you forever.
Just look what they’ve done to Ribiero, Lapierre, Kovalev, Alex Burrows….
Agreed.
Play Auld tomorrow night?

No, you would do what Sheldon Souray does and shoot the puck so hard at the nearest official that they don’t dare try to screw you over again.
Its not about our penalties, its about the ones not called on the wings in the 3rd, there could have been at least 2
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
YES! We need to do a dismantling of the laffs tomorrow night. I wanna see more waffles on the ACC ice lol!
Those guys were good all game. Did you watch it?
The legitimacy of the Habs penalties is not is question. The penalties not called against Detroit in the 3rd are my issue.
You know what the worst thing is? Tonights officiating is considered a job well done by the NHL. If you look at the Campbell/Walkom emails they applaud letting everything go in close games, especially in the third.
I thought the same thing when they showed Babcock, “don’t celebrate too much boys, you got lucky, they had you in the 3rd”
“Start the season with a clean equipment bag and a freah bucket of febreze!”-CharlieHodgeFan
I’ll bring the syrup! Got some good blueberry stuff mmmmmmmmmm!

WTF did you even watch the game troll
If you constantly rip into the refs on the ice or through the media they are collectively going to stick it to you in return.
Always did it, every time he was on the ice killing a penalty as a hab he would rifle one at the closest ref or linesman.
After tomorrow night, three off nights before a couple of big games next week. I’d be tempted to play Price in the next three and have Auld take Sunday against the Avs.

Yes, it’s definitely Newfie_Dawg, Priceberg…. etc.
Thanks, Tony!
You are simply a poor deprived person, who needs special attention, by a team of doctors ! That is simply the worst game by a team of Refs for a long time! ten minutes short handed! and the Red wings Did ONLY ONE THING WRONG!!, that is crap and your comment is crap!
martin was double shifting plecs for minutes before that. he was going for it. this was a chance an aggressive coach would have taken. faceoff in the offensive zone. play your stars. cammi and gionta were well rested from not playing much earlier. if you don’t want them on the ice, at least go with pouliot. he just scored and IMO was playing at least as well as laps and darche.
you don’t even understand things when they are s-p-e-l-l-e-d out for you. so don’t bother to pretend you understood the game play in real time.
yeah, bummer they made games 60 minutes like a hundred years ago.
It’s all about winning the battles now. Get the puck deep, forecheck hard, and win the battles. If they don’t do that, they can’t break the Detroit phalanx.
Yes I hate Bertuzzi, and I didn’t like the early take down on Gill, it was kind of a slew foot, hes a cheap 7uck

MOEN THE GRASS!!!!!!!
Cheesy goal but I’ll take it!
AK46 phone home…
“Six more years…God Bless You Turtleneck Man!”
Come on Habs, tie this game up!
It’s funny, just as the commentators mentioned the Habs haven’t won when the opposition scored first, they score!
How they didn’t give Detroit a penalty on the sequence is amazing. There were several penalty-worthy plays by Red wings there.
Another goal against Detroit scored from behind the goal line. Remember when Kovy did that two years ago?
No tripping call there behind the net

Testing – each time I try to post I get blasted into web-Siberia.
This reminds me of some of those games last season when the team started to show signs of the elusive gelling so many checkled about. They’re working together now and I like their no quit attitude.
***Win or I toss these waffles!***
Does Colie Cambells son play for the Red Wings or something??
Give that guy some mustard.
Lol. How the hell does Detroit always make these sub par tenders look so good? Brutal.
T@barnac!…Howard thinks he’s Price…
“Six more years…God Bless You Turtleneck Man!”
I can’t get ovet the hooking that’s going uncalled.
And if Moen was a legitimate top-6 forward, this game would be tied.
There’s a lot of clutching by the Red Wings not being called.
Clear hook again for the garbage Wings. No call. Habs need to dive like the Wings do if they want some calls.
If Montreal had this same lead against Detroit, and they were exerting this much pressure, guaranteed they’d be on the PP the whole period. So stupid.
They’ve been pulling that garbage for 15 years.
WTF was Spacek thinking????
- In Price We Trust
What bullshit – blatant holding not called – and we get screwed by the refs again.
Tonnes of pressure and scoring chances by the habs in the 3rd and they didn’t have to spend 10 minutes on the PP in 1 period to do it.
Sorry but the refs in the 1st set the game.
Positive note…the Habs were the BEST team!
What a joke. Penalties ruined it what might’ve been a classic.
THE WORST REFS !!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS A DISGRACE!!!!!
Thank you, referees. Hey, Red Wings, great work with the holding, really good stuff. One of the most frustrating games of the year (and I was at the Oilers collapse.)
Hmmmmmmm the penalties were quite balanced… rediculous!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Plekanec will be fine, he skated off under his own power. I think he was selling it a bit, hoping the refs woudl call a knee.
Sweet jesus please no, please not this.
Sure looked like he got him with the knee.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! He had him beat so he throws out the hip! Classless bum Rafalski is!
Heart just sank into my leg with Plekanec taking a hit.

Oh he’s fine.

Someone please shut Healy up, When did he ever take a hit.1993 Healy you Douche
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
That isn’t really how Pleks plays. It was likely a charlie horse. Something that hurts really bad but goes away fairly shortly. I doubt he was lying there for looks.
firstly, he wasnt beat, pleks dumped the puck, second, pleck tried to avoid a hit, third it was hip on hip….Rafalski is no bum..
I wish he’d stayed in the NHLPA.
Pleks does a lot of gamesmanship, especially on high sticks. He’s also a bit of a dirty player. His game is that he’ll do anything to win.
they don’t want him there!!
Usually the rule is that the worse player you are, the better analyst you make, because you have to study the game harder. Healy is huge exception to that rule. Dumb and useless!!
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Although Weber may be disapointed that he was pulled from the lineup, he has to be happy with how he acquitted himself in the time he was given. I can see him being a third pairing/PP guy for some time to come.
And unlike the Streit’s, and Sourays, and MAB’s of the world, he’s not a complete disaster in our end. Quite the contrary, he’s very stable.
Better than saying, “First!”
I’ll second that Go Habs Go!
I wanted to be the first person to comment but didn’t know what to say. Go Habs Go! That is all.
LOL, excellent
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!! Well, you can tell from the look on the bench that these guys hate losing. Can’t fault the effort, just the officiating a little.
Rafalski threw his knee out there. Now I really want them to forecheck him hard.
There was no knee Jim.
Holy shit my heart started beating again…..thank you god/buddha/xenu
If ever there was a time to hit a guy, that last goal would’ve been it.
Terrible missed call
A good push back in the 3rd, they didn’t just roll over and give up.
you can also just click the x to close it
ASIS… pointy part of the hip bone in front, gonna sting a bit but he’s a tuffy
Spacek a blind pass to nobody in a white jersey.
No kidding, he had a guy right infront of him,,,,but noooooo lets try the behind the back blind pass at the blue line!!!!
Seemed like pleks was like “Owwwwwwwch! Wait, that didnt hurt….Im already lying here…What do i do?? Im just gonna lie here………………Ahhh crap….nothing!….”
“I went to see a fight the other night…And A hockey game broke out!” ~Rodney Dangerfield~
Officiating what could have been a classic, garage league stuff sometimes.
Looks like the Habs might actually need Gomez, whodathunkit?
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
That was ridiculous. Bertuzzi basically jumped on Cammalleri’s back to make him touch the puck.
Well that was pretty stupid.
Uh… Plekanec is skating around on the ice right now… What game are you watching?
So now that Markov, Gomez and Plekanec are injured, how much cap space does that give the Habs?
how does he do it?

yah just kinda good
That was the weakest hooking call I’ve ever seen. This is beginning to remind me of last season against detroit when we were shorthanded for 9 straight minutes because of BGL being an idiot.
i think they’ll get burned on this one
Like a BOSS, make a save like a BOSS

Yeah, your right. Cause what we needed in the 3rd period was to be motivated… DID YOU EVEN SEE THE GAME??????
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
ND? That’s you again, right?
***Win or I toss these waffles!***
What good would blowing a gasket do exactly. The Habs looked pretty motivated tonight, guess Martins’ calm demeanor also motivates a team.
WTF is wrong with you? You don’t play 20 minutes and win the game.

What a shame! I get what gorges was doing trying to tie up the play to kill time but anyways price is still phenomenal.
Hold it behind the net and kill the clock. It was a good idea but the execution was lacking…and kudos to Holmstrom for going back there and not just letting Josh do it.

I think Martin’s strategy of keeping the same Gorges and Gill on for the entire PK fell short by about 1 sec.

The reffing basically ass-raped us in that period. Total BS.
Lol i think hes getting as much support as possible on a 5-3
man no one here knows dink about hockey!!!
I despise Lidstrom. Shouldn’t he be retired by now?
Killing time, just .8 seconds not enough lol
“I went to see a fight the other night…And A hockey game broke out!” ~Rodney Dangerfield~
I’m surpirsed Hamrlik didn’t replace Gorges aftert the timeout.
I know its not his style, but just once I would love to SEE JM give the the Refs the business. Do a Lindy Ruff
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
I’m not knocking Gorges by any means, but couldn’t he have simply jammed the puck against the boards with his skate to help eat up the waning seconds?
Some real horsecrap calls… no wonder the Wings are so tough to beat at home, their house rules are 5 Wings to 4 Visitors.
LOL, there are ads for Source des Sexe christmas party in the banner now… gazette is getting a little more risqué or what?
I do love the penalty kill Goalie tandem of Price & Gill. I don’t know why no other coach ever thought of putting two goalies on the ice at once.
I think he was trying too but was just outta gas and lost the puck to an aggressive forcheck
Yeah. I think he could have done better. But, with that being said, he was dead-tired. You can’t get too mad at a guy when he’s barely able to stand up out there. Still a good period considering what the referees were doing out there.
I too am not happy about the officiating. But the honour derived from the thrid period effort.

Health Canada is reminding Canadians that consumption of the Toronto Maple Leafs has led to vomiting, fever, bloody diarrhea, dementia, and penile dysfunction.
I get you, I’m just being bitter, Da Hema. Thought we deserved at least a point.
Let me. The Habs played a 20 minute game, the Wings played 40 minutes.
***Win or I toss these waffles!***
I can’t believe they called Plekanec for HOLDING. What a joke. The ref saw a Wing go down and just made up his mind to call it then had to think of something fast. Four straight penalties. They are handing it to them.
The referee is a Swede.
Great play by Gorges? lol..
Hughson’s colour guy is gratin’.
Price is ridiculous. Love it.
Bon. very funny, now can we get a real NHL referee on the ice for the final two periods, tabarnak!
The Ref is a Swede calling a Swedish League game; expect more of the same!
All his homeboys in Detroit know how to avoid the calls.
“The Allo Police Media – a collection of bitter ex-coaches, players and wannabees whose collective lack of success accounts for their present positions in Sports’ equivalent of a Jerry Springer Show”
Oh, Friedman, why don’t you just get on your knees and blow him. And then Datsyuk and Zetterberg. We know you want to.
Gomez absence is noticeable.
Shh…mustn’t remind anyone of Gomez’ value. Ever.
If the Gazette is serious about this whole “online newspaper” thing, then it’s time to hire some proper techies – the repeated server crashing is beyond frustrating.
So much for 99.999% uptime.
Centre Hice: my last Canadiens game at the Forum
I thought the Plek call was weak…I also thought a French judge would have given a 9.0 for the dive too…
“Six more years…God Bless You Turtleneck Man!”
Palushaj heating up with HAM, a goal and assist tonight for a 2-0 lead halfway through their game with the Rochester Americans.

I don’t care how much some of you hate Gomez, he would help. Especially in a puck moving game like this.
By the looks of things it’s probably safe for me to watch the third. Won’t be my fault.
Full Breezer 4 Life
This game is not a true representation of a Habs-Wings matchup. Some very questionable penalties completely ruined a good tilt. MTL has been even – territorially – with DET when not killing a penalty. The only glaring mistake was Pouliot’s gross turnover on the boards that led to Datsyuk’s goal.
As long as we don’t lose to the Laffs tomorrow, I’ll take whatever the hockey gods mete out for tonight’s game.
But a W would be nice ……………
The benching really did the job for Subban…. …. (great decision)…
So that’s why the Kommentariat is regularly purged: To save on bandwidth.
Now, the dirty little secret is out…
Someone needs to say something to Eller about shooting the puck into the opponent’s empty net. That is the kind of thing a Philadelphia Flyer would do.

This is a sarcastic post correct, in response to the amazing in game commentors on CBC
From what I see of Subban JM has screwed him up ,confidence gone.
really???
amen, he’s not the shadow of himself…
stupid decision
lol

Fate leads the willing, and drags along the reluctant.
Hes still using the body.
Hes still chirpping with some guys.
Hes still pushing and shoving after the whistle.
Hes still flying all around on the PP.
I see no difference at all.
My friend, a Wings fan who doesn’t read Habs I/O, sent me the same article linked above. Its a good read, if you have a few minutes.
habs gotta play really hard tonight, wings on two game losing streak, and habs 3 games winning streak. something gotta give! say what you want about him but scotyG’s presence will be mised
.::DON’T MESS WITH THE MOENATOR!::.
Two fast, skilled teams: This will be fun to watch. No Chris Neil/Patrick Kaleta crap

It inly works when you play good, Lappy, so keep playing like you have been.

creepy is it just me or the wings announcer sounds like bill clinton

GO HABS GO!
Watching on CBC, and when they interviewed Babcock he had a lot of praise for his opponent and also said Price is the best goalie in the league right now (can’t argue with that)
Newfie Dawg’s gone? A single tear rolls down my cheek as another troll bites the dust
That guy was so up and down though, not your typical HI/O troll I guess
Not a moment too soon IMHO. Unfortunately he’s had like 4 profiles here so far, so I’m sure he’ll be back.
quote of the night belongs to Mike Babcock, about the Habs:
“They’ve got a user friendly back end”
Sounds like there are alot of Canadien fans at the Joe.
I thought the post about the brawl was a joke until I watched the video.. WTF WAS THAT? Garbage..
