We have a very desperate team to play tomorrow night. And we better bring our a game to it.
The Hab.s played with some energy and enthusiasm this evening for a change.
The one play that got my goat was the penalty to PK for embellishing the can opener, when he had a whole lot of speed coming out of his end. Very disappointed in the call.
The other was the high stick to Gill, which was seen but not called.
Just two calls that were incorrect for the Habs side. I did see a couple that we got away with also.
You know the speed of the game has doubled, but the weakest part of the game in the NHL today, that has not kept up to the changing game, is the refereeing.
I agree with you on the refereeing Ian, I dont know about your neck of the woods but even at the minor league level here the refs -this year especially- were just brutal. It seems theres a steady decline.
[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.
Not a great game, but a very big win…thank you once again Carey Price…YOU are the SYSTEM !!…2 very big points !!
Has this happened to anyone else? Click on a thumb’s up and the number goes up by two, even three. (And, no, I’ve never clicked on my own). It just happened now, when I clicked a thumb’s up that was 6 and it went up to 9. I can’t imagine two other people clicking at exactly that same time so either the system is wonky … or I’m an HIO Person of Substanial Influence. A Power Broker. A Poster More Equal Than Others. A Guy Who Needs to Get a Grip.
Hmmm. I wonder. Should I … dare I … click Thumbs Up? No, I am made of sterner stuff. I’ll phone Punkster.
Don’t ask me, when I hit thumbs up the thumbs down count increases.
That’s weird. When I hit the Thumbs Down, my toilet flushes.
(It’s an old house, and I’m on dial-up.)
I give you the Vulcan sign.
And I give you TWO thumbs up
[Busted the one playing hockey]

Dumb,!!! Best way to destroy how a site interacts with the public, is put this foolishness of up or down. For lazy posters that do not get involved in the conversation. That is what is so appealing here.
This will kill this site.! But what do I know.!
Hi Ian. It’s just a little something to put down if you agree or not. Some, like tony observer anthony blah-blah, deserve every thumbs down they get. And we shouldn’t have to explain why every time a troll posts.
2011 is the Year of the Hab (can I still say that?)
well since the thumbs up and down don’t refresh automatically, when you went to thumb up you saw an old value.
so you saw 6, while 2 people already thumbed up.
so when you thumbed up it refreshed it and went up to 9 (the other 2 people and you)
sorry to burst your bubble about you thinking your important 😉
GWG = game winning gionta!
Now I feel like a jerk sending out that e-mail to all my co-workers telling them I’m a Blog God. Your explanation wasn’t very refreshing. But thanks anyway. I’m a wiser person for it.
Do you know why the sky is blue? (In daytime, of course)
sorry buddy… all my other worldly IT knowledge finally becomes useful
do enlighten me about the sky please
GWG = game winning gionta!
Good luck to Bill McCreary. But it takes a lot of class for Price to shake the hand of the ref who missed the call that cost him another shutout and almost cost us the game. Too bad Bill didn’t retire a game earlier.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Wasn’t as bad as the ump that screwed up the perfect game last season in Detroit.
Habs win and the Negative Nellies are out in force. Of course there is no “real” value in this win (they argue), because it wasn’t Washington or Philly or…..well screw it. A win is a win is a win. The team played well, Price played like a rock and they took 2 points without giving 1 away.
On to Carolina.
Too bad a brutal non-call and Sopel’s futile pass blocking cost Price his shutout. I don’t speak French so what were the officials saying after the goal? Who’s goin’ to explain this one to the boss? I know the league orders are to job the Habs as much as we can, just not so obviously. We can expect a call in the morning
if the pp does not produce no chance vs any top team…atlanta 24th team in the nhl and we are life and death to beat them…
Here’s the rule on linesmen calling back goals for a double-minor high stick… so they COULD have disallowed the goal, unlike what McCreary and Rehman told Muller when they said it was impossible to reverse the call:
Should a Linesman witness a foul (above) committed by an attacking player or goalkeeper (undetected by the Referees) prior to the attacking team scoring a goal, the Linesman shall report what he witnessed to the Referees, the goal shall be disallowed and the appropriate penalty assessed.
and in brackets, (unless it happens in Montreal against the home team)
But the linesmen claimed to have not seen it either.
So they were plotting their escape plan instead in the event the Thrashers tied the game and then won in OT? Sounds about right.
Anderson Cooper has a show on CNN called keepng then honest. I think the refs should have to face the press after every game to keep them honest. Better the Montreal Gazette should have one reporter to investigate Campbell and the other crooks and expose them. This is another disgrace by the refs in this league.
they wont even ask why martin prefers hammer and mara over pk on the pp…why upset a comfy work situation
weird anti-sexual assult PSA on RDS
Disturbing, to say the least. Not sure if it’s going to have it’s intended effect.
I mean a bunch of hands LITERALLY grabbing a guys junk for 30 seconds!!!!
The worst is that it’s in two parts. The second part is the same imagery but it’s supposed to be after the fact. Tonight the two parts were separated by about an hour an a half.
Last game they played the 1st part, then a Burger King commercial which was all about yummy grunt grunt meat and right after the BK ad they played the part two of the anti-sexual assult PSA.
Talk about ringing Pavlov’s bell!!! No wonder they separated the two slots by about 10-15 commercials tonight.
Who would want to be the meat in that advertising sandwich?
i think weird may be an understatement, bizzaro!
i love how boone has to make a conscience effort to show how “great” gomez was tonite. He makes 8 mil, plays on the 1st line and gets 18 plus min a nite. If he ain’t atleast good every nite, theres a prob. tom pyatt has great games once in a while too but he make 600 k, p[lays on the 4rth line and gets 8 min a nite. I expect our top players always play well, not great jus well. I dont need to be reminded how wrong i was to ever mention hes an overated player cause he worked hard tonite.
So we are no longer allowed to comment on how Gomez plays? He has played poorly all year, i think when he plays a good game it is worth mentioning. We are stuck with him, maybe just maybe he is coming around come playoff time.
lets not sugarcoat it. Gomez needs to put together an entire season before he justifies earning 4 mil a yr. he takes bad penalties, gives up in the corners, passes to much, and hardly produces. he tried tonite, hooooooray Gomez
The guy had a good night. Give him a break. Everyone and their unborn children recognize and openly acknowledge that he is overpaid.
I assume that you don’t have happy orgasms.
that depends on whether i am drunk or sober
Long live Captain Gionta.
We scored and we won!
Might work against Atlanta but play this way against Wash/Bos/Tampa/Philly & we are toast!
Gomez for captain of the Hamilton Bulldogs!
Another 20 goal season.
Good work brother Andre.
Is it just me, or does Atlanta look like a team full of Ukrainian farmboys?
AK46 ices it!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Thank F**K!!!
nice battle by tits to keep the puck and score in the empty netter…we win we win we win yipppeeee
second place is just the first loser
Great work, AK.
“Start the season with a clean equipment bag and a freah bucket of febreze!”-CharlieHodgeFan
Good job Andrei
Happy Tweeting Maxwell
AK really worked for that one!!!
Nice work by AK46
AK46 — strong game by him, he deserved a goal
Great job by Kostitsyn to seal this one up.
He’s been playing very well the last few weeks.
I hate the Ole song – it’s such a lousy tune.
I like to whistle it at work, it drives people nuts, especially when they can’t figure out where they’ve heard it before. Silly Bruins fans.
Born and Bred in Enemy Territory (Boston).
“Hamrlik looked exhausted on that last shift.”
Hamrlik looked exhausted before his first shift back in October.
Where’s Eller and Kostitsyn? The Count has been protecting a lead for 2/3 of the game.
There they are.
no comments for a few minutes?
don’t you guys get tired of bashing the coach..
Please not another shutout for the Flopper, especially after Price’s was stolen
a refs job in the new NHL is to call ANY play that can be called a penalty but actual has no effect on the game in giving either team a competitive advantage ie hook on a player in the offensive zone. So if/when the pp team scores, the ref has had an influence on the game that is larger then the individuals who are actually getting paid millions to decide the outcome have. But when a play that does effect a scoring opportunity or goal and by definition is a penalty ie. high stick to the face that allows a 2 on 1 and goal, the ref has no job to call it because hes looking for the off man to clutch or grab or do something meaningless to the game so they can call a post lockout penalty, not a real one. but then theres the makeup call which is on its own disgusting because the ref is now admitting that he has made a mistake and further personally influencing the outcome by calling something they otherwise wouldnt. it in itself completely devalues the integrity of the game in which the ref surmises that theyve already effed it up enough ie see above, so who really cares at this point. paycheck well earned guys!
and we pay who millions do decide hockey games?
The NHL is no different than Boxing, Don King is now running this league
This new site is like downloading porn on DIAL UP!
LOL excellent analogy
My nerves, me nerves.
Why am I getting that uneasy feeling about this one? Anyone got some antacids?
I thought the habs were suppose to be a FAST skating team??? They’ve look slow. Actually, they’ve looked slow the last 10 games.
i just cannot take martin anymore…hammer and mara on the pp…
Mara on the powerplay and refs didn’t miss that one .All I can say is hire Roy on now before this team misses the playoffs.
Roy is a major dick – You need class to coach the Habs…
Gomez for captain of the Hamilton Bulldogs!
Well guys, we wasted 3/4 of the PP, might as well through Subban out there as Mara takes a penalty. JM needs to wake the f*** up with the PP already.
Slashing the stick out of someone’s hands should not be a penalty. It should only be a penalty if the stick breaks.
Mara on the PP, good call Martin.

How many goals do you think Alexander Semin will score this season with the Canadiens?
