The Hab.s played with some energy and enthusiasm this evening for a change.
The one play that got my goat was the penalty to PK for embellishing the can opener, when he had a whole lot of speed coming out of his end. Very disappointed in the call.
The other was the high stick to Gill, which was seen but not called.
Just two calls that were incorrect for the Habs side. I did see a couple that we got away with also.
You know the speed of the game has doubled, but the weakest part of the game in the NHL today, that has not kept up to the changing game, is the refereeing.
I agree with you on the refereeing Ian, I dont know about your neck of the woods but even at the minor league level here the refs -this year especially- were just brutal. It seems theres a steady decline.

Wasn’t as bad as the ump that screwed up the perfect game last season in Detroit.
Habs win and the Negative Nellies are out in force. Of course there is no “real” value in this win (they argue), because it wasn’t Washington or Philly or…..well screw it. A win is a win is a win. The team played well, Price played like a rock and they took 2 points without giving 1 away.

Here’s the rule on linesmen calling back goals for a double-minor high stick… so they COULD have disallowed the goal, unlike what McCreary and Rehman told Muller when they said it was impossible to reverse the call:

Should a Linesman witness a foul (above) committed by an attacking player or goalkeeper (undetected by the Referees) prior to the attacking team scoring a goal, the Linesman shall report what he witnessed to the Referees, the goal shall be disallowed and the appropriate penalty assessed.

Anderson Cooper has a show on CNN called keepng then honest. I think the refs should have to face the press after every game to keep them honest. Better the Montreal Gazette should have one reporter to investigate Campbell and the other crooks and expose them. This is another disgrace by the refs in this league.

i love how boone has to make a conscience effort to show how “great” gomez was tonite. He makes 8 mil, plays on the 1st line and gets 18 plus min a nite. If he ain’t atleast good every nite, theres a prob. tom pyatt has great games once in a while too but he make 600 k, p[lays on the 4rth line and gets 8 min a nite. I expect our top players always play well, not great jus well. I dont need to be reminded how wrong i was to ever mention hes an overated player cause he worked hard tonite.
So we are no longer allowed to comment on how Gomez plays? He has played poorly all year, i think when he plays a good game it is worth mentioning. We are stuck with him, maybe just maybe he is coming around come playoff time.

Please not another shutout for the Flopper, especially after Price’s was stolen
a refs job in the new NHL is to call ANY play that can be called a penalty but actual has no effect on the game in giving either team a competitive advantage ie hook on a player in the offensive zone. So if/when the pp team scores, the ref has had an influence on the game that is larger then the individuals who are actually getting paid millions to decide the outcome have. But when a play that does effect a scoring opportunity or goal and by definition is a penalty ie. high stick to the face that allows a 2 on 1 and goal, the ref has no job to call it because hes looking for the off man to clutch or grab or do something meaningless to the game so they can call a post lockout penalty, not a real one. but then theres the makeup call which is on its own disgusting because the ref is now admitting that he has made a mistake and further personally influencing the outcome by calling something they otherwise wouldnt. it in itself completely devalues the integrity of the game in which the ref surmises that theyve already effed it up enough ie see above, so who really cares at this point. paycheck well earned guys!
