Canucks take 2-0 lead

Canucks left wing Burrows scores the game winning goal on Bruins goalie Thomas during overtime in Game 2 of the NHL Stanley Cup hockey playoff game in Vancouver

Pincourt homeboy Alex Burrows buries the B’s.
Let the bite jokes begin.

It took all of 11 seconds in OT.

Andrew Ference turned the puck over.

Then Burrows swept around Zdeno Chara to score on a wraparound, with Tim Thomas over-aggressive and totally out of the play.

On the night, Burrows had two goals, an assist and five hits.

His father gave him some good advice on deflecting public attention from the biting incident: “Go score some goals and do something to piss them off.”

Done.

And to win the Cup, Boston has to win four of the next five.

Which, Habs fans remember, is not impossible.

But teams trailing 2-0 in the Cup final have gone 4-42.

And Tim Thomas, facing the media and speaking articulately, said “Losing stinks no matter what.”

How come I can’t get anything new since Boone’s “schedule oddity” blog on the 4th.

Everyone is laughing at Lapierre but if he had done that with the Habs J.M would reward him with 3 games in the press box.

Thomas is one of the only Bs that I enjoy seeing play. His style is unorthodox, and he flops around like a maniac, but you can’t deny his success this year, and (not including last year) his past success.

If he played for the Habs, I’d run out and get a nice, new Thomas jersey straight away. I wish he played for anyone other than the Bs.

Boston’s not dead yet, they’ll be better at home – and they’re following Julien’s wet blanket hockey plan to a “t.” Both games in YVR could have gone to the Big Sad Bruins.

How cool are the hockey Gods? And of course they all reside in Canada… probably on Mont D’Iberville.

I mean it will be really cool to have the Jets back in the NHL.. their fans and city are typically Canadian. Non-boastful, winter-hewn and easy-going folks. Have many in-law relatives from Manitoba and love their style. And to top it off since they will play in the South East upcoming season, we are lucky to see them more than twice during their historic intial year in the NHL!

Hope our fans give them a huge cheer first game in Montreal.

And now Vanc. on the way to a CUP!

All we need is for the habs to get it done and rise to their rightful place providing the artistry and flair and excellence. And we are close. We already have maybe the most exciting end-to-end d-man rusher in the game right now. .

    Beautiful!

Bettman talks about teams up here in ‘small’ cities like Winnipeg and Quebec with such a derisive tone as if every citizen in those villes are penniless and homeless and couldnt put together the price of a cup of coffee much less season tickets for a hockey team.

And before he made it back thru custom Winnipeg had 13,000 tickets SOLD! Go try and sell 5 season tickets in Phoenix Bettman and see what you get.

Canada is Hockey and Hockey is Canada! As Burrows showed your Bruins in game one and again in game two Bettman, bite down and chew on that, you with the feral eyes and hydrocephalic head.

I just realized many Bruins actually have Bettman’s arrogant features. Some incest offspring there Gary?

If this series continues as it is, with the team from the east being beaten by one goal, it will be nothing short of marvelous. To be so close yet so far is exactly what these apes need. Then again, maybe I shouldn’t insult apes; they are a higher form of life than those black and gold thingies with skates on.

I got to say Chara really sucked last night.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

Losing by one goal scored in the last few seconds of regulation time, and losing by sudden death goal after only a few seconds of overtime are more painful, I think, than any other form of loss. Sure a loss is a loss however it comes, but some losses hurt more than others, I think, simply because the eventual loser’s hopes are high in these situations and then get dashed so abruptly.

It was therefore a great pleasure to see the Bruins lose the first two games in each of those most painful ways. May the Canucks win the next two games by a single goal, preferably scored in the last few seconds of regulation time or the first few seconds of overtime. Here’s to the Canucks making it a four-game sweep, each win by a single goal.
