What a fun game at the Bell Centre.

The Bruins are the “Starley Cup Champians”?? I’m cool with that.
Who sits when Mrkov comes back?
Of the three candidates, Diaz is playing the best.
Emelin is the biggest guy on a small defence. Not playing great, but not playing terrible, either.
Spacek probably the weakest of the three right now but probably the most reliable in pressure situations, as a veterean.
I love Weber´s shot but with Markov, Subban, and Diaz you have three offensive defensemen, and Diaz seems to be slightly better defensively and a better outlet passer than Weber.
And can Campoli unseat any of the top six when he comes back? As it stands now I would say no. Why did they sign him? Just to push themselves up against the cap? I think that Diaz and Yemelin are good enough to take a risk on in the early stages and we wouldn´t be seeing one of them play, (nor either one once spacek is back, probably) if he hadn´t been injured. It´s not as if they grade C prospects, and Campoli is that good.
Get used to the firepower we saw last night. There are 3 good lines. Heck, Darche is stuck on the fourth line! If Markov comes back at even 70% of his former self, and no major injuries take place, this is one heck of a team.
Too bad we don’t have one heck-of-a-coach
Hey Guys, I need some help. So I am in Ibiza, Spain and I have a fantasy league on ESPN that I would like to start with 11 other Habs fans. We will do a draft and everything. It’s for me just a great way to keep in touch with proper fans and have some hockey fun also. I was part of a fantasy league with some Toronto idiots horrible:( So I would like to do a proper draft and have one with like minded people Habs Fans! drop me an email please if you are interested. greezybro @ gmail.com I need 11 guys asap first 11 are in! Must be a Habs fan!
I hope this isn’t breaking any posting rules:)
Wow, Price has a bad game and here comes all the haters out. I hate to tell you Carey Price is the best player on that roster by a long shot
You know who I blame this loss on? Pierre Gervais.
I just wanted to make sure we covered everyone on this roster.
You forgot the kids holding the Habs flags when the players step on the ice….
The game was actually fairly exciting. The boys tried very hard. Great chem between Desharnais and Patches. Pricey let in some weakies but every g-man has those nights. Cole looked better, Pleks still carries a heavy load. Still need more effort in front of both nets.
Wind shield wiper Gill, is completely useless.

Ooooo…nasty, but in a good way.
7 of the players on tonite’s roster started last season in Hamilton or were playing Europe- they didn’t play that badly given the aggregate lack of NHL experience
“I went to a fight the other night and a hockey game broke out”
~Rodney Dangerfield
I’d say the game was lost on PK’s adventurous coughing up of the puck at centre ice and the slide by poke check to nothing from Price. The goal that went glove side under the mitten was weak but that one could be partially forgiven.
Like some people have noted. At least they are scoring.
Emelin made some sweet cross ice passes. He’s a keeper.
This is just too weird. I had a premonition you were going to say that.
Another deja vu is merely a copy and paste away.
Didn’t watch the game. 6 goals against, how bad was Price?
“Hate Bruins like a sickness”
Habs lose in a shootout.
Bruins win in a shootout.
Time for another drink.
GO HABS…
I wonder if down Tampa way the fans are posting: Montreal lost another, gave up six goals. So much for Martin being a defensive genius.
What we need is a universal site where fans from all over the league can post their opinions about every other team. It’s a bit of a bother to have to go each team’s fan site to survey what they’re thinking. With a mega-site, why, on a Saturday night you could probably get 8,500 posts the first hour.
Oh yes, it would have to be just one thread (with an index) and the same thread every time: Why your team sucks.
I wanna know what the bums in Columbus think about those brutes in Minnesota.
You know how in baseball the teams keep track of their starters’ pitch count, to make sure they don’t go past what is their optimum level and begin coughing up hits? Well, something like that needs to be looked at with PK. Outfit him with a pedometer. It’s obvious he’s trying too hard but if the team were to put a limit on his travels, it might get him to think first about short, crisp passes a la Markov and less often about forays that do not always end well. After each period, the coaching staff would check the pedometer and note, for example: “PK, you skated 30 kilometres that first period. It’s supposed to be nine. Rein in the wandering, okay?”
Other players could be outfitted with a pedometer:
“Gill, 80 metres, really? After two periods? No, sliding doesn’t count. No, the pedometer doesn’t take off metres if you skate backwards. No, I’m pretty sure it’s not the pedometer that’s slowing you down.”
TBL now 1-2-2 on their season, struggled (and failed) to defeat tonight: Jose Theodore and the Florida Panthers.
Man that Boucher is a master of motivation and getting his guys to score goals.

Glad you have brought this up a few times Serious. This whole Boucher is the greatest crap was getting very annoying.

why the sarcasm for Tbay?
Because apparently if you ask around here, Boucher would make MTL a bonafide SC Contender and he never makes mistakes and it was the greatest mistake ever for him to leave the franchise.

haha. well i don’t like JM. but if we had boucher and he lost a few games in a row you would hear why did we hire a rookie coach.

Good 3rd “fun” but wasn’t impressed by both clubs”Av’s have some snipers!”If this Habs team had to play tough they’d be kinder-gardened! If you think this team’s got 40 million per of talent, size and grit …yike’s!
The team has tw rookie NHL Dman, I second year man, one recovering from major knee surgery and Hall Gill. Give it a rest folks and cut the team a bit of slack!!
Price boys get ready to protest….I have never felt confident with “scary price” in goal. In fact I will go on record as saying that I don’t believe we can ever win with Price. The D is bad right now, but the goalie is supposed to bail you out now and then. Make a save for God’s sake, Carey.
AMEN.
What does it say on Bob Gainey’s office door?
“Larry Robinson not welcome.”
Seems to me PK is simply trying to do too much. He had a good go of it last season and might now be trying to push the envelope a bit. He said it himself before the game that he has to simply his game, but evidently didn’t follow through with that.
I’m confident he’ll settle back into a comfort zone and re-establish himself as one of our premier defencemen.
Don’t quite understand the hoopla over the late Diaz penalty. It was a clear trip. Can you imagine the uproar had that not been called against an Avs player?
Not sure what to make of Price tonight. Hoping it is just an isolated blip.
Despite the bitterness of the loss, there are some very satisfying positives to note: Pacioretty continues to grow into his role as a legitimate power forward. Making space for himself, going to the net, fighting for loose pucks in front. Eller is also looking increasingly confident and is showing tantalizing flashes of the big, skilled centre I think we are all hoping he will become.
We need a goalie.
What does it say on Bob Gainey’s office door?
“Larry Robinson not welcome.”
I thought we needed an imaginery enforcer who could scare Chara.

Habs should have won, but the usual suspects make sure it doesn’t happen. The referrees in this league are brutal, consistency is what everyone talks about yet the officiating is far from consistent.
The only consistency with them is that their consistently bad. Price hasn’t played to his form and maybe it’s just me but usually when they show price he is usually laughing and talking, but tonight he just seemed to be sulking and in a daze. He was never into this game and it showed.
Don’t know if someone said something to him, but his look tonight and his body language just seemed to show and say f**k it, who gives a shit.
PK is just trying too hard, can’t knock him for that. He will learn from it.
To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.
Defense didn’t really help Price’s cause. He wasn’t exactly perfect like many here expect him to be, but throwing him under the bus is kinda jumping the gun. He did keep the team in the game as well with some of the shots that would have beaten other goalies.
IMHO it was an intense, fast flowing, entertaining game.
i’m with you on that. my view on price is he’s backing up into crease just a little to quickly. doesn’t help that the D is collapsing on him as well though.
he’ll rebound but he’s only as good as the D infront of him. if the D falters don’t expect miracles from him either
My buddy frank said it best. You can see that gleam in prices eyes after he lets the first goal in and you know your in for a tough night.
I am not sure what’s crappier seeing the leafs beat Calgary or see the AVs make price look like he should just stayed home.
“Things that hurt, instruct.”

OOOPS!
Starting to love Emelin…threw a couple of nice hits, and is getting more and more comfortable back there. I won’t be surprised if he climbs over Hal Gill on the depth chart by Game 20, once he’s had sufficient game experience to adjust to the speed of NHL players and the size of the rinks.
i’ve liked what i have seen from him so far. it will also take him so time to get used to the nhl grind. i’m liking weber though.
Indeed, a good addition back there, as rocky as our D changeover is this year you can see a good swell of talent that just needs tempering from experience.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
SF09 on Twitter
I’m hoping he climbs over Gill on the depth chart sooner than later. He looked really good out there on both sides of the puck tonight. Gill has been brutal and I think that’s an integral reason why Subban is trying to do too much.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
Agreed
Habs, OLE !
Subban has to remember he’s a plays defense as well. he really has to simplify his game. pass up the boards. not everythign has to be a cross ice stretch pass. he has to learn when to be offensive rather than just push for offense and cough up the puck. it’ll come though. he’s still learning the game. also teams watch tons of film and maybe they found some holes in his game. he’s one of the players i wouldn’t worry about adjusting though. his effort level is always there
According to HIO app, Gionta just scored to make it 4-4
Full Breezer 4 Life
We’ll try not to spoil it for you.
4 of the Dmen are still new at this. Weber, Emelin, Diaz and Subban are going to have consistency problems. Gorges and Gill played pretty much like they always do, with few defensive errors. Subban was noticeable for his glaring errors, and Price again had no answers.
Any good news?
Yes, the offense tonight was giving the Avalanche a hard time all night. JM’s tweaking™ found goals. Moen (hah!) scored a beauty and Pleks replies to all of those here saying he has no “point” shot. That goal was a bullet.
The other good news is no one on the Habs left the ice with assistance. Maybe a player didn’t get hurt?
Need every 2 points and it was a shame to see all those goals wasted by poor defense and not up to par goaltending.
I enjoyed that game.
Rough night for Price and PK, but I ain’t gonna giv’em much heck.
Loving Eller, Cole, Desharnais, Pacioretty, Emelin… and Diaz really. Great additions.
10-4 Texas. Detroit’s D is worse than the Habs’.
The System was displeased with giving up five goals in regulation.
What a surprise. The We hate Price crowd is back after a year hiatus.
I don’t hate Price, he’s one of my favorite players.
But hey, my favorite player let in EVERY SINGLE CHANCE tonight. He was god awful, and the one most responsible for the “L”. Even more than Subban.
Is it wrong to point that out? Are we supposed to pretend that he played ok?
You don’t have to take my comment personally. You know who those people are.
No, he wasn’t at his best, but that doesn’t translate to terrible.
I’m happy the team scored 5 goals. Price will return to form.
I would not criticize him for a subpar game after all he’s done for this team. For all we know, he had a root canal this morning.
What Price has done for the team? You mean win one round in 4 years?
That fire in your hair is spreading.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
Well you have to actually make the playoffs first, which he has done so far.
So at 20 years of age you expected him to win a Cup on his own? LMAO
I think you need new material, it’s getting old.
We don’t hate him, we want him to play better
If the guy could have made single save, it wouldn’t be that way, would it?
BS ManA, did you see the first shot on him?
Just admit you’ve hated him for years and not just for tonight’s loss.
Where were you last season with your compliments for Price saving the season?
I complimented Price plenty for his season, last year. He was very good. Even in the playoffs he was quite good. Just got slightly outplayed by Thomas and he was the greatest goalie by far in the regualr season. If he sucks, I will say so, which is the case so far this season.
First time I read positive Price comments from you.
Knock yourself out. I’ll help….he suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked!!!!
Price needs to be better plain and simple.
He cannot let in 4-5 goals each game…
Better effort with no finish.
To many give away’s, take away’s, and we still can”t win a face off.
Price was good, but not as good as we need him to be.
Very much more practice and preparation to go yet.
Coach should have this team prepared to play NHL hockey by the time the Summit rolls around in about 4 weeks.
PK, Price and the Refs in the last penalty on Diaz are what killed us. Aside from that the team was really good.
________________________________________
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
If he doesn’t, he knows where to reach us.
Price was good? Ian are you feeling OK?
Weber +2….21 mins
I have no problem with Weber on the point instead of Pleks.
The dumb crowd starting to sing there victory song with five minutes left usually gets the other team pumped. It sure worked tonight.
That had nothing to do with the game.
MAB with 2 goals tonight for the lightning!!!!!
More than three things:
1) not sure if anyone is complaining Bout the Diaz penalty but it was as obvious and deserved a call as they get.
2) Price was awful
3) PK was even worse. He was responsible for the 5th goal. He was the weak side D-man and chased way over to the far boards for the puck. Moen had to collapse, leaving Quijcey open. PK looks worse than his rookie year.
4) new first line (67-51-46) looks great.
5) Cole is coming around
6) plex is still plex, a beauty all around

Price says chill out – only reg season
LOL
Hmmmmm….twice you made the Price says chill out comment and the moderator- or whatever he or she is called- allowed it.
Twice I wrote ‘SUBBANG indeed’ and the second time it was denied.
This s#*! is weird.
GO HABS…
Mr. Softie needs to get his head out of his arse or sit….
A couple of observations. Pardon me if I’m repeating myself.
1. Habs have to start using at least some of their preseason to prepare the team for the real season. Using the first 10 games to put the real team together costs valuable points.
2. This is not an NHL calibre defence, and the return of Spacek 3 or 4 weeks from now is going to do little to upgrade things.
3. Two players currently suffering from the worst cases of cranial rectal inversion I’ve seen in some time – Price, Subban. Should move to have that corrected post haste.
4. Habs D-zone ought to be redubbed the Dumb Zone. Everyone who comes back past the blue line suddenly becomes half as smart as they were before crossing the line.
5. Not time to panic yet, but…pretty soon.
Diaz laid a two-hander on Landeskog’s skate to trip him. It was as clear-cut a tripping call as you’ll ever see.
Agreed.
Couldn’t agree more. That would be a pretty hard one for any referee to overlook.
On a positive note, I think the new lines looked great tonight though
What were the lines tonite? Never seen much of the game. Had company over and had a few socialables while playing cards. Habs came up short again. Carey is having a hard time trying to get his 100 victory. Go HABS Go!!!
Eller Pleks Cole
Patches Desharnais AK
Moen Gomez Gionta
How many losses could let go JM?
JM is awful.
price says chill out – its only reg season.
Jacques, this obsession of yours with offence is hurting the team. Why not come up with a system that emphasizes defence.
On the money, as usual JB. You know, I’ve been thinking (and at my age that’s a chore…got time on my hands, no heavy workloads, minimal commitments but still, thinking can be difficult) that maybe JM could try to deploy a defensive strategy. Could work. Could help turn this team around. You know, get all these offensive powerhouse scorers to learn how to back check, only one forward on the fore check…
Ah, never mind. It’ll never work.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
Great minds think alike, P’. As for us … You’re right, though, JM won’t ever go for defensive play. Doesn’t sell tickets. Doesn’t get people out of their seats, like you saw tonight, when the Canadiens scored twice in 20 seconds. We fans are just going have to be patient with this firewagon approach to the game and not be concerned about winning. Sure, it’s entertaining, exciting, but is that hockey?
Maybe when JM’s contract is up, the Canadiens will hire a coach who knows something about defence.
At the start we thought Price and PK would be our best two players.
So far they have been our two worst. Along with Hal Gill, who was on the ice doing the Burt Reynolds Playgirl Centrefold pose on that last goal.
Not to state the obvious, but just out of curiosity, where would you put Gomez in that group of our worst players so far?
I’d say:
1) Price
2) Gomez
3) Gill
4) Subban
I’d put Subban at #1
Then Price, Gill, Gomez
I here a whisper Roy Roy Roy and if they don’t snap out of this it will be a shout.
If you switched goalies for this game, we would have won 7-2.
Hope you mean Varlamov not Budaj!
… the fans of the Boston Bruins now have lost forever any right to complain that “the league” is out to get their team, and that the Montreal Canadiens have some kind of pull inside the NHL home office.
Charles P. Pierce – Boston Globe
I meant Varlamov.
If we had played Budaj, we would have only won 5-2.
Good battling tonight and entertaining but not well played. Price needs to get back to a harder work ethic again?? Not laying it on him but he’s been better. Subban was sub tonight….another who needs to get back to basics. Good to see Cole more involved. Another game or 2 and and hopefully the lines will settle in together and we will see some more consistemcy. D was very weak again….Emelin looked better. Oh well…stole a point. Take it and keep quiet I guess.
That call on Diaz was brutal, refs agenda is to get it to OT, everyone gets a point and wow look at the parody in the NHL…ya right. It is really bad when I tell my wife, when the Habs took the lead, the refs will call 1 on the Habs even if it is marginal and bingo…. Sick of this crap.
Habs deserved better, liked the offense tonight.
Price HAS to be their best player every night to have a shot at the playoffs
Got to love the refs they made the tough call late in the game but won make the calll in overtime. Nothing changes they still close their eyes against the Habs. Well they had 41 shots 5 goals and the D and Price struggled. If they keep getting 41 shots and 5 goals Price and the d won’t struggle for ever especially when Markov gets back.On a sad note Gomez who struggled when he could skate has lost a step and he has to go.
Price and subban has to come back to last year elite play if Habs wants to make the playoffs
Subban’s play last year, while good, and great fun to watch, was not ‘elite’.
Outcoached again!
Unbelieveable matchups especially when you have the last change!
Webber on the PK????????????? Come on!
Added that Price could stop a beachball for the second night in a row.
… the fans of the Boston Bruins now have lost forever any right to complain that “the league” is out to get their team, and that the Montreal Canadiens have some kind of pull inside the NHL home office.
Charles P. Pierce – Boston Globe
Want to win a shootout? Put Gio and Cole in!
For the last 10 mins, overtime or shootout, a junior goalie might win it.
Captain Kirk made JM look good; Kirk-less JM is losing…
I hate to say it but goaltending was the difference tonight. Price looked very shakey. Habs were the better team.
Price has been sharp in 1 game out of the 4. He needs to get back on track soon.
I wonder if the team still wants to play for Martin
Would you?
For the cake these guys get paid? Abso-f’in-lutely!
***Subbang Baby!!!***
Stephane Auger is one of the refs who fills out Pro-Line cards on games he calls.
And I hope that this is the last time I see Tomas Plekanec in on a shootout. He’s had 3 (MAYBE 4) shootout goals on close to 20 career attempts.

What do you want…he beat him clean and went off the post. Just luck
After the Burrows incident, I can’t believe the guy is still employed by the NHL
Looks like Scary Price is back. If so, this team is finished.
wow, look whose back after a loss
Uhmmm,if you haven’t noticed, they’ve lost 3 games this season. All against mediocre teams. What will ahppen against the \flyers, \pens, \caps, \Bruins?
lol, yup. As predictable as morning wood.
I’ve kept quiet throughout preseason and the first few games, but it’s looking like BG/PGs team is same old, same old. Now that Price is back to his old ways, things don’t look promising.
You actually at your highest point of credibility when you do keep quiet. Just think how many times you could have saved yourself some massive embarassment if you did?
Habs lost! Go out, have a drink and enjoy it, wum.
Yeah, he had a bad night. Not likely to continue. You need to find something real to criticize other than one of the best goalies in the league. Get a grip!
One of the best goalie’s in the league? Are you sure about that?
Your hair’s on fire!
***Subbang Baby!!!***
Lets call a spade a spade. Carey played like S**T!!! His save percentage is pretty ordinary. I know, I know, don’t dump on Carey, but, he has to lay better than that!
Sal from the Hammer
Carey has been bad since game 3 of the Boston series.
Price needs to stop with these gimmicks, I am all for fighting cancer, My mother is a cancer survivor, but Price needs to play hockey and not showcase all these masks, pads and other stuff. Just focus on stopping the damn puck
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
his gear isn’t making him play deep in his net. nor does the new gear cause his defense to make brain farts on the ice
Ask any Goalie about playing with new equipment, Most would never do that. Just like that team did in thier 100 year anniversary, stop wearing barber shop jerseys and play the damn game.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
i play as a goalie. his pads are rbk P4 with no breaks. those pads are made to be stiff. they don’t really break in. not like his old vaughns…
still you can’t blame you equipment for the defence of being off your position. maybe if pucks were bouncing out of his glove all the time i could agree but not on the pads
I didnt know that about the pads so I cant reply to that. All I’m saying is when your not playing well, as Price is surely not, to me, I believe he should just play. However your are also correct about the D, they are not helping at all
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Oh…never mind.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
Not the end of the world, A LOT of mistakes on D, but being as banged up as we are, that is to be expected. Price also had an off night, but we can chalk that one up to the equipment just this once. Positive is we showed we can compete and score despite the first two points I mentionned.
So positives for tonight:
Forwards seem to be waking up. Leave the lines as they are for a bunch of games and see how that goes.
The folks who have been clamoring for Moen to not be a top 6 got their wish. He’s now on the third line with Gomer and Gio.
The game seems to have slowed down for Emelin.
Not so positive:
Subban is having a series of brain farts and is trying to do way too much in his own end. He needs for Markov to come back soon to calm him down.
Like the idea of leaving the lines alone for a change!
Except for Gionta that is definitely a third line at best.
What else us Subban supposed to do? He is trying to do the work of 4 d-men, which he shouldn’t, but who is else is going to pick up the slack?
What system? Last year it was called MULLER!!!
Price embarrassed us tonight – you are allowed to move on the shootout. Nice pink mask.
don’t hate on the mask or pink gear. that’s all for a good cause
I’m all for the cause – but only Bet Hart can pull off pink – also – our netminder should not be dicking with new equipment every month.
it’s not that big of deal to switch your equipment that often.
it’s more of a difference that he switched from vaughn velocities to rbk P4 pads. this type of gear is all custom made to be made game ready.
anyways he should be more worried about keeping his ass out of the net…
Carey better get his head in the game FAST …
Time to sit Price & let him watch a game from the bench!
“Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing”
Oh yeh, Budaj!!!
Typical NHL bs. A marginal tripping gets called for the team trailing by one goal with four minutes left, an obvious tripping doesn´t get called in ot. Thanks for ruining a good hockey game once again.
Don’t want to be a conspiracy theorist but man that was pitiful officiating again. Changed the result of a game. the one thing a ref should never do!
Nah. Diaz’s was as clear a trip as there is. The one in OT wasn’t. More like Eller ran into the Av player’s stick.
Would they have called the first one on the other side keeping the score in mind? Absolutely not. The second one? I have to look at it again I have to admit.
At least we scored some goals. I think we have the kind of team who looks back at what they did wrong and wants to improve. We have enough talent and a good enough system as a basis for success. The regular season is a process. Let’s not panic. Let’s let it unfold how it will. I assume we’ll be in the 5-8 spot by the end of the season. Then it starts to count.
I’m a huge Price fan, but he just doesn’t have it right now. He’ll get back on track eventually, but he’s not there yet
No suprise as price had limited confidence the whole game..for this one game if the goalies were reversed we would have won 9-3
3 out of 8 points to start the season, yep sounds about right.
