Bruce Boudreau seems like he was one of those kids who whined about everything and ran to tell the teacher every time something bad happened. That guy complains about everything. At least when Brian Burke complains, it’s funny. Boudreau just comes off as being sore. If he can’t stand a little heat, he’s in the wrong profession. That’s why I’ve said over and over that a strong performance in the first game might really rattle Washington up. They don’t have thick skin at all.
a bit off topic here but i was reading this thing on the upcomiing world championship. apprently canada is sending a young group this year names included( stamkos, tavres, ott, neal, beauchemain, perry, whitney & hell even eberle) i was just wondering why does nathan horton nor stephen weiss ever get considerations to these kinds of events.. i mean its not like they arent good hockey players
Although the odds are long, I am much more hopeful about this years opening series than last season’s disastrous tilt against the Bruins. With the Habs best defender (Markov) and scorer (Lang) out, Montreal could offer Boston little more than token resistance. And who knows what Gainey was thinking by not giving Halak a single start even though Price was flailing in the nets.
This time around everyone except Metropolit and Mara is healthy and there is at least potential for success. The two advantages that Montreal has are the PK and goaltending. If they can also convert on the PP, the games will be close.
Regardless of what happens, my expectations are under control and I’m looking forward to some top-notch hockey.
Fearless Game 1 prediction: both teams come out with a ton of energy. Montreal scores first, ten minutes in, and doesn’t relinquish the lead in spite of some WAS golas off defensive lapses and a hairy last five minutes in the 3rd. Halak stands on his head. Moen turns into a wrecking ball, Gill fights, and our D hits like we’ve rarely seen this year. For the first time in years, we’ve got a bunch of guys who understand that the playoffs are to the regular season what U.S Open tennis is to whiffleball — and Washington doesn’t. This is gonna be a helluva lot more interesting than most people think.
You know what, this is when Gainey’s pick-ups are going to bear fruit — he went out and got proven clutch guys, heart guys, character guys that will chew through steel to win. Guys like Gionta and Moen that we didn’t have last year. Guys like Gomez and Cammy who can elevate their games to something really truly special when it’s needed. Gill too was born to play the PK against a team like Washington. A healthy Mara also factored into the plans, a vocal grizzled vet who’d sooner drink molten lava than go down without a fight. Character guys, identity guys, joining a team that sorely lacked both those things. Last year, we weren’t nearly as good as everyone thought. This year, we’re a far better team than anyone gives us credit for.
The hell with the pundits and their predictions (sorry Boone). We’ve got at least as much shot at Washington as Colorado did against the might Sharks last night. I’d say more.
As we saw last night, things are a lot tighter in this league than many may think. On paper the Habs should get blown out…but…..
Wiil they win? highly unlikely, but possible. If they don’t win, all I hope is that they at least show up, COMPETE, and don’t roll over! Play hard, play tough, play big, and leave it all on the ice!, and if the CAPS win at least let them know they were in a frickin battle!
You know there’s somthing wrong with the filtering system here when you can’t even mention the great Dick Irvin, but you can type Rejean Houle and Mario Tremblay as much as you like.
lets have fun with this.. If we lose, big deal. We didn’t sit in the cellar year after year, draft in the top 5, then trade jagr and get a bunch of picks. I just hope the Habs put in the effort we have seen glimpses of this year and then it will take care of itself.
One thing I hate is when you watch the previews, they won’t say anything about “the habs have to do this or that” they just say “caps are too big and strong, not even close”
that may be true, but for god’s sake, Montreal was closing in on 3rd in the conference before they hit a bit of a rough patch. If the habs had one the last 2 games 4 to 1 but still played washington, what would the experts say then.
I think the issue with the Habs this year is that they are a bit of an unknown. How will they come out, will they follow the system? Maybe, maybe not. I just hope they play well, get lead by the guys with cup rings, and get good goaltending. If they do all thoses things and still lose, I’ll hold my head high anyway.
Phoenix has home ice but to me they are no question the underdog when you look at the team they’re playing. It says nothing about how good a season they had, only that the team they’re playing has been the most dominant team in hockey over the past ten or so years, that they have been to the finals the past two, and that they have a lot more collective playoff experience than the Coyotes. On the one hand, Washington may be more ready for the Habs after having seen other top seeds lose the opener, but on the other maybe there will be more doubt in their heads about their own chances. The Habs need to take the game to the Caps tonight, if anything, last night’s games show that it is possible to knock off anyone.
what do you think the chances are of Ovie getting so worked up before the game that in the first period he does something really dumb and dirty and gets tossed? One can only hope
Finally got ‘em for something and i didn’t see it (aka wasn’t obvious, maybe on replay)… Theo was 100% definitely out of the allowed area for a goalie when he covered that puck. He slid into it whith the puck in his catching glove. Should have been an automatic penalty. Only goalie I’ve seen called for that all year is Price (x2).
You’re still not a real fan, dude. You trash the team with every post and now that they win a big one, you show some kind of unwritten love toward the team???? Ain’t buying your crap…
Final Score: Bulldogs win 2-0 over the Manitoba Moose to open their playoff series with them.
Cedrick Desjardins records a 21-save shutout for his first AHL playoff game and is setting himself up to be the next contestant on Who Wants To be a Starting Goalie in Montreal?
Amazing win by the Habs but they’ll need to be better if they want to win the series. They can’t give up 19 shots in the first and expect to keep coming out with a 1-1- tie.
Yeah there could never be any conspiracy or corruption in the nhl. I’m sure fans of the nfl, mlb, nba, ncaa basketball, europeon soccer, pro boxing, both summer and winter olympics all thought the same thing also. Guess who was running the nba when it’s officials were nailed? Bettman
Leafstv “telling their fans they deserve to win for over 40 years”
Because it would make sense, but since the NHL is desperate for any way to get a real TV contract they’re sacrificing player safety for highlight reels with races for the puck.
That call on Moen was disgusting. Listen to the play and you’ll hear the whistle is AFTER the hit, and by a good 1-2 seconds. With his back to the play there is no way Moen can know it hasn’t been waved off. Linesman screwed up and then called the Habs for his laziness. Absolutely disgusting. Then they call nothing when Gomez is hooked around the throat on the PK. Disgusting.
I literally have just calmed down. What a showing by Les Boys.
I live in the Washington DC area and will be wearing my Habs jersey everywhere I go tomorrow and Saturday. I will make extra trips and run unnecessary errands just to be outside more, and show of my jersey and pride in the Habs.
Has anyone noticed how often Moore just throws at the net from below the goal line hoping to bank it in off the goalie. He did get one goal that way though.
What a difference a year makes. I just don’t panic with the new habs. All season long, I’ve never gotten down on them. Sure it was close, and they could lose the next 4… but I think not. We’re about to see them really gel and get on a serious roll here. I’ve been calm and collected and not nearly as emotional. No jumping up and down because I KNOW these guys are the real deal. Quiet confidence is the rule not the exception. Even Lappy is buying in. I’ll keep saying it… Habs in 4
I can only imagine how mad you were when the Habs scored. Must have been cursing Pleks like crazy and screaming at him huh. That is why you woke your kid and wife right? Bc we know you were not CHEERING the Habs on…You are the biggest hater alive. You are not a real fan of the team. You are a joke Timo. Us real fans take exception to your nonsense when they play a brilliant game and all of a sudden you are happy and cheering the team on. Like I said, you are a joke!
We all saw it, but here’s my take on key points from Game 1:
1) Unlike Boone, I didn’t think AK46 played that well. He didn’t play as badly as he has in the past few weeks, but he didn’t generate anything remotely dangerous. He still looks like his creativity is minimum.
2) Other than AK46, I thought every one of the Habs played with energy and gave a solid effort.
3) Hamrlik, Spacek, and Bergeron looked shaky at the start. Spacek and Hamrlik still look a step behind the younger guys, but they battled hard and played a very good second half of the game.
4) Scott Gomez was possibly the Canadiens best skater tonight. He back-checked (something he doesn’t always do) and he was the most dangerous Hab from his own goal line to the opposition hash-marks, which is what he needs to be. His goal was a beauty. Gionta was solid again, and Pouliot stepped his game up a bit today.
5) The 3rd line was decent but the 4th line really impressed me with their work tonight, especially Lapierre. This was the Lapierre of two years ago, playing in the dirty areas instead of playing dirty.
6) Jacques Martin for all the hate we give him out-coached Bruce Boudreau tonight. Not that that’s a great feat, but he did his job the way a veteran coach should.
7) Pleks’ goal was justice. Not really against Theo, but against the media that tried to blow this up in his face. His post-game interview showed a great amount of class, when he didn’t rub anything in Theo’s face at all. he knows the series is far from won.
We are in their heads. They are afraid of our speed and our PP. We owned them in the 2nd period and in the OT. We can take these guys if the boys continue to believe in themselves.
Timo, you made me laugh……and then i realize i read it wrong….lol when saying “rock her for a good hour” i thought you were talking about your wife….sorry dude…. dont feel bad i almost woke up 3 kids last night, i may as well watch the games with you if they keep like that, and have our wives and kids sleep better at night…

Best 60 minutes of hockey all year, then 13 more! I knew it was
possible, but I didn’t think I’d see it. Can we keep this up? Are we
for real? Big smile ’til saturday at 7. I’ll be bringing a commode to
the bar this time!
So many here eating crow now that I’m sure they’re happy the site crashed and have gone beddy-bye so not to have to face the truth. Oh well, I’m sure they will be back tomorrow to say that was the last win of the season. BG, PG, JM can do no right….or maybe they are just slightly more intelligent than the average fan? Naw, couldn’t be. What am I thinking?
Bipolar or Manic-Depressive Disorder is a disease than can treated.
That did not feel like they stole the game. After the First I thought they would have too but the Habs owned them for 30 of the last 40 minutes of the game. A deserved win.
Well…so far so good…Gainey’s moves have panned out…Cammalleri on the PP, Gomez to tie it and Pleks to earn the big contract…I guess Bobo/Bobby did know what he was doing (for this game at least)…
Pleks just got more expensive with that goal…but how much would Tomas Jagr cost? Can we get him for League minimum?
Halak bailed this team out until they woke up in the second period and good for him…the four days rest was good for him to get his game back together…
If the Habs are going to win this series, it will have to be through ugly wins…but 19 shots against in the first period is beyond ugly…
On the bright side…by winning Game #1, the Habs have met expectations of those calling it in five and beaten the expectations of those calling for a sweep….now go win Game #2 to meet Mackenzie’s expectations….
I cannot believe what we just saw… total domination, the Caps were invisible. Need to score on the PP. We just showed we can play with these guys, and outplay them too.
Same outcome (tie) but a MUCH better period, if we can hit the net a bit more we’ll score, Theo has been good but he’s giving juicy rebounds and hot dogging some saves, time to crash that net.
Long series ahead of us but the Habs won the only way they could: Great goaltending, Veterans stepping up (Gill, Spatch, Gio, Gomez all strong games for 70+ minutes), and Containing Ovie.
Next game’s a freebie. Looks like my game 6 tickets just might end up being used.
Alberts’ hit on Richardson? 5 and a game for an elbow to the head, left his feet, drilled the player from behind face first into the boards. Let’s see how consistent Colin Campbell is… that’s gotta be at least 4-5 games.
this will be a good series. now washington was lucky to come out of that period tied. big mouth “i hate the habs” mcguire went 6 minutes without saying anything when the habs dominated.
Well, was not expecting OT – a pleasant surprise…Great to see the acquisitions playing a strong game tonight. Can Halak start a new Roy OT win streak? Let’s hope…
Agreed. I thouht AK was garbage — at least not sparking anything and wasting a top 6 spot, but maybe I missed something. I also thought Gionta was a bit slow going.
Gomez-Gionta-Pouliot were very good defensively.
VERY impressed with the D, probably the most with MAB — not the best guy on the ice but not at all the disaster I was expecting. Very aggressive pairing.
Cammy! This is the guy! What a game for him. He must have picked off 4 or 5 passes tonight.
THIS is the team we’ve been waiting for since last summer.
I must say Dominic Moore was brilliant tonight. Here’s hoping we can sign him to a reasonable contract at seasons end. His play on Semin in the third saved the game for the Habs tonight.
I must say Dominic Moore was brilliant tonight. Here’s hoping we can sign him to a reasonable contract at seasons end. His play on Semin in the third saved the game for the Habs tonight.
How come after hearing for the first 30 minutes of the game on TSN how great the Caps are..suddenly there appeared to be technical difficulties from the guy between the benches?
Come on Pierre. Did the Habs not have a great second half of that period?
I did not see the CBC playoff preview where Milbury and Hrudey mocked the Habs chances…however I saw them review the game tonight and they mocked the Caps’ attempts to play defence…
I remember 2 years ago and the seasons before when every announcer would say during the start of the game that if the opposition can withstand the 1st 10 mins of the HABS at home….they could settle down and control the game….well….with the record of the CAPS and the HABS in this playoff series WE are the underdog and the roles reversed….sea of red sounds a little dead now….the HABS withstood the hometown momentum and there controling the game…..KEPP IT UP and dont let up on the GIVEN ER…….
The replay showed that he got the puck first and then in sliding to whack the puck his legs took Gionta out from behind but after the puck was knocked away…the Moen charging call I was not sure about…
Who in their right mind would have called a 2-2 OT? And with no SOG for Ovie? Absurd. Ridiculous. One of the most exciting games I’ve seen our guys play this season.
Still a few passengers though. There’s a couple of floaters out there who better pull their fingers out.
This team DOES have character! Gainey knew the team he assembled lacked it, for the most part. That’s why he went out and got guys who have it.
The Habs are hanging tough. There are folks in here who won’t be happy unless the score is 6-0 Habs and even then they’ll find something to complain about, but you know what? These are the Washington Capitals who had 33 more points than the Canadiens. And they’re skating right with them.
I like what I’m seeing from these Canadiens. They aren’t quitting and they DO have pride!
Cammalleri, Gomez, Gionta, Hal Gil (!) all showing what they’re made of tonight.
It was their picking the Canucks-Kings and Sens-Penguins that gave TSN the Canadiens series, CBC gets to choose the first two Canadian team series to cover, than TSN gets to make a choice.
I am on such an unbelievable high right now from that win!!!!! I decided to help myself calm down I’d go for a run but I’m still smiling ear to ear and can’t believe what an amazing game that was! I don’t think I sat down for the third period or OT! Saturdy is going to be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing game by your Canadiens. I cannot express how pleased I am with how they’ve come out tonight. The number one team in the league, at home, led by Ovechkin, have been humbled. If the Caps think they are going to win the Cup, they better think again. Somewhere, on some golf course, RJ Umberger is smiling.
The first period was tough, but an excellent second and third by your boys. I think the difference — experience. Gio and Gomez have been instumental. (Maybe this is when Gomez really earns those big bucks, the intangibles of being there and leading in the room.) The younger guys, Gorges and Lapierre especially, have come out strong.
What can you say about Jaro, he kept us in the game in the first and he is the type of goalie you need to win in the playoffs.
I’m praying we do well on this PP. Literally, praying.
Very nice way to play the second half of the 2nd. That is what they need to do – pressure the weak washington defence. Each team has in my opinion won one period, so it comes down to who wants it more and wins the 3rd. Washington is going to bounce back but we need to sustain the puck in their zone and forecheck the washington defence. Early on, way too many giveaways in the defensive zone, but one thing we have done well is get on the rebounds first. That’s what kept us in so far and now we’re finally starting to generate offence. This team can’t just react to what washington does, it needs to keep being the instigator with the puck and create offence. In this case, that’s the best defence we have.
Well boys you better score on this powerplay because you know Gary Bettman is on the phone with these refs. You know Bettman does not what to see his steroid boy Ovenchkin knock out. Hey how about that Gomez I say give this a guy a raise.
Somebody below mentioned how MAB played much better than we all expected…is it possible that JM might know what he is doing? Granted it is only one game….let’s see how JM adjusts for the Caps’ upcoming adjustments…
My point is that even when a ‘conspiracy’ has been uncovered it has been about betting. It has never been about ‘hey lets all screw this one particualr team because we all hate them’
Bulldogs extend to a 2-0 lead over the Moose, Ryan White has his 2nd primary assist on the night on a Ryan Russell goal. White’s playing great hockey in Hamilton, bringing him next season and playing him with Moen would create quite the checking line I think.
The reason i love the Playoffs FULL OVERTIME I really want them to bring it back, I realy miss Marathon games nothing better than watching a crutial hockey game for 5 hours. ———– ”Playing goal is like being shot at.” – Jacques Plante
Didn’t see the replay closely enough to see whether he got the puck first, but I will say that 29/30 that gets called a penalty. The habs are just the lucky 1/30. The Moen call is the one that still upsets me too, I still insist the whistle came late and that he was just finishing his check not knowing the icing was going to be called. If a D grabs the puck and there’s no whistle, you have to keep playing. Awful job from the linesman whistling that down and then the ref trying to cover it up by dishing out a penalty.
Shut up these critics, Take the Caps down in 5 or 6 games! Just like we shut them up when they thought we would finish 14th 2 years ago and we finished 1st.. It’s all about silencing the world !
Man, I feel exactly the same way.. It was like a drama played out in front of my tv as I paced around making over exagerated actions when anything occured on the screen. Then the goal! What a way to cap an awesome game.
Great game by the two Jaros, Hammer, Markov (natch), Moen, Cammy, Moore, Laps,… did I miss anyone? If AK and Gomez would care to join the party, we could win this.
Every time the puck was near MAB in the first period he coughed it up. He was pushed around by every Caps forward. I just don’t think his slapshot is worth having him on the ice with Markov.
The caps will not be shutout by us in the series, they will score, all we can do is limit there scoring, they go over 2-3 goal spread, were done, we limit them, we can keep up…As long as we have the goaltending we CAN win this!! *Game speech over*
“I went to see a fight the other night…And A hockey game broke out!” ~Rodney Dangerfield~
The whole game Washington was getting away with a ton of calls, and the refs seemed to be just waiting to pounce on anything remotely close to a penalty to call on Montreal. Luckily our guys played a fantastic LEGAL defensive game.
You can thank Jaro and Theo for that. Halak has made more saves, but Theo has made alot of tough ones. They both have done better than most of us expected. I mean 1-1 after 2, no one figured that. Great job Jaro, keep it up.
It was definitely a game that I will never forgot and honestly probably the most exciting Habs gme I have ever seen, being only 23 I was not around the watch the Habs when they we unstopable but I kind of understand now how those of us old enough to have seen the greats feel.
Thanks
for sharing the information. I am very amazed at the confidence level of you
guys, so i have to refer your blog to my friends because it’s really a help
full blog.
I think we should be rolling with 7 defencemen, rotate in our workhorse forwards to fill space on the 4th line while JM actually alternates OB and MAB as needed. We could use a little physical force on our back end to keep the Capitals honest.
The problem with Madrid is that they’ve bought players who are used to being the “superstar” on their prior team. Now that half they team is as good as them, they have to learn a whole new style of play. Enough of this, there’s a habs game on

Audere est Facere- To Dare Is To Do
Good, my playoff pool took a hit yesterday when Jersey, Red Wings and Pittsburgh went down. I now need the Devils and Red Wings to take 4 of their next 5 and Pens to sweep the Sens…
Fully agree…MAB, along with Gomez and Spacek, was one of the Habs much-maligned heroes on this night. I felt Bergeron played a great game: he stood his ground to Ovechkin in the first period, actually knocking the moose to the ice, which set the opposite tone from what we were all expecting going into the game. He made some nice passes, and I’m sure the Markov enjoyed playing with somebody that had at least a modicum of offensive inspiration at times, as opposed to the stay-at-home defencemen he’s been paired with for the past few years.
Disagree big time. Spacek has not been strong, especially early on. Gomez on the other hand has impressed me with his back-checking so far. Best Habs so far: Cammalleri, Gomez, Pouliot, Moen, Lapierre, Gill, Markov.
I was actually shocked (and very relieved) that Gionta didn’t get a penalty himself on his short-handed near-breakaway. He only had the break because he tripped up Ovechkin, so I guess these things even out.
There are a couple people here wishing the Caps score just so they can rag on Halak. I hope he makes you eat it by stoning the Caps in OT. And I hope Pleks scores a beaut just to stick it to the other haters (although I think they are the same people).
All of you are watching an illusion. It’s Halak, the reason it’s not 4-1. If he wasn’t a wall there would be no hope, not even a fool’s hope. I love the Habs as much as all of you, but let’s be realists, the Caps have insane firepower. Enjoy this while it lasts.
cuz they have hard-on’s for the caps and ovechkin, like someone mentioned, habs start playing well and hey where did pierre mcguire go! mysteriously had nothing to say!
Can you prove that? I’m guessing no. Just proving that it exists and has been proven to exist in virtually every professional sport, the olympics and college sports. What makes you think it wouldn’t happen in hockey? Considering next to soccer it is probably the worst officiated league in pro sports,it actually makes it an easy target.
Leafstv “telling their fans they deserve to win for over 40 years”
I say sit MAB and bring up PK Subban boy he could give this team another gear especially if they can win tonight. MAB is getting killed and he making some dumb plays on the powerplay. I much rather O’Bryne who is big and strong and can help in out own end. O’Bryne had a bad game come on JM havn’t you hurt this team enough by being the coach.
The Moen call was pretty easy. I thought it was a blown call at first, but on the replay, Carlson was skating the whole time and Moen made no attempt at the puck. He just drilled Carlson into the boards, making it an easy call under this year’s rules where they are trying to protect defencemen from that very play.
Spacek had a couple of brilliant shifts against Ovie. Shut him right down. His best game in a while. And yes, Gomer has been responsible on the back-check, but he’s not contributing in their end.
Only pet peeve on the night: the Habs forwards need to learn when to wait for the puck on the ring-arounds in their own zone and when to skate to the puck. This has bugged me all year…if you feel pressure coming, get to the puck earlier so you can do something with it.
Pouliot was the most recent (and blatant) example that led to a goal. If he takes a couple of steps lower in the zone to get the puck a bit earlier, he’s still got those two steps of space on the on-coming defenceman, which could have allowed him a chance to clear the puck. When he couldn’t do anything with it, the Habs got caught flat-footed and the bad bounce ensued giving Backstrom the goal.
Spacek got the blame for not clearing and Gill was caught a bit when the puck bounced. But Pouliot should make a smarter play than that. In soccer, we always preach to come to the ball to give yourself a bit more time. I’ve never understood why that mantra seems to be ignored in hockey.
Really? Not sure what you’re seeing from him. He’s failed to take advantage of a few golden opportunities, like the three-on-one that he screwed up. Cammy and Pleks are carrying that line. as usual.
It was fun seeing Milbury eat crow after the game.
What a thrilling win. Washing away most of the bad taste lingering from last year’s capitulation to the Bruins.
But let’s be realistic. The Caps should still be a heavy favorite to win this series in 5 or 6. Montreal had a perfect storm going for it tonight. Great goaltending. Stellar team defense (Washington was 0-4 on the PP). A total stonewalling of Ovy Superstar. The return of Mike Cammalleri. And it still took OT to win the game.
Make no mistake. Washington will come storming back. But Montreal has let the Capitals know that the coronation is still a long, long ways away. If Les Boys can steal another one in D. C., we can start believing anything is possible.
Well Ovechkin brought over his personal trainer from Russia and his magic bag. Looks like he might be helping a few of the other Caps players with his magic bag. The big problems with steroids is you have to take them on a very strict schedule if you are using them for endurance . Looks like the Caps were so much bigger and stronger and then they seem to bind up after the first 5 minutes of the second. Should be interesting come the third and the other thing is when you take the juice wrong you start to pull and tear muslces. I am predicting Ovechkin doesn’t make it through the series with out pulling or tearing a hamstring. where is that great Quebec media , they can certainly find dirt about the Habs player maybe they should check out the other team. Who is this trainer and what kind of rep does he has. Tigger Woods had to answer those questions about his trainer so why is no one in the media asking questions. Is it because Gary Bettman will kick you out of the loop.
this is beyond bad. I hope JM does not make it past tonight. Hammerlik and MAB absolutely disgusting. I have lost the count of turnover they have committed in their own zone. It is beyond anything imaginable. Even if Habs manage to contain Ovechkin they will get killed by the likes of Laich, Chimera, Fleischman… you know, not midgets.
F, I have GAiney for building this BS of a team. I hate JM for not having a freaking clueBipolar or Manic-Depressive Disorder is a disease than can treated.
They were the heavy favourites to win tonight too. Washington will indeed come storming out, but they did tonight too — as long as we withstand the initial brunt, we can take ‘em.
That Bruins – Buffalo game sounds like it was a bit of a dud. Can’t say I feel sorry for the CBC. The whole network is a sad disgrace – TV and radio.
On the issue of the CBC choosing to broadcast the Bruins – Sabres over the Habs, here is an excerpt from their legally mandated obligations:
be predominantly and distinctively Canadian,
reflect Canada and its regions to national and regional audiences,
while serving the special needs of those regions,
contribute to shared national consciousness and identity,
This Toronto based network that provides mediocre TV and lame radio receives about $1 billion from the federal govt.! That is more than we spend on medical research.
Big problems accessing the site. Was anybody else affected? Whatever came after me even changed the icon for HIO.
Loved the game tonight. AK46 really stepped it up. Moore and Gill play the same – regular season or playoffs. That’s a good thing to have on a team. Jaro and Jaro – what a game!
I don’t really think it was the perfect storm. Washington could have been shorthanded another 5-6 times if the refs were paying attention, and I doubt Theodore will be that good the whole series, especially when the games shift to Montreal.
Need a tissue?? I wouldn’t say calling out an idiot as whining as much as you do…so sad. And as for my “hero”, the only hero I have is my daughter so go #$%^ yourself.
Bipolar or Manic-Depressive Disorder is a disease than can treated.
They didn’t choose the Bruins series over the Habs. They choose the Canucks and Senators (and Crosby) series’ over the Habs.
In the Playoff broadcasting contract, TSN got dibs on the third Canadian team – if there was one. CBC choose the other two Canadian teams over the Habs – likely because of the RDS competition.
It’ll be interesting to get the ratings from the Ottawa game and the Habs game tonight.
well, it’s obvious that Gary “little Napoleon” Bettman has called the refs and told them who is supposed to win. How was that not a penalty shot, or at least a penalty
These things always work themselves out, like Harmlik will wear some goat horns and redeem himself for that.
But did O’Byrne really do that much to warrant his benching when we see plays like that? You have to accept that we’re not all perfect and will make mistakes.
He’s in year 1 of a 4 year contract. Can you endure another 4 years of eeking into the playoffs via the back-door and doing a quick exit?? The good news is all those number 15 picks at the draft are gonna win the Calder Cup for years. The AHL is ours baby!!!
so it’s the Washington caps vs the Hamilton Canadiens.
yes it’s men vs midgets. this is so painful to watch.
why the hell is MAB playing D? pure suicide!
And I wonder what habs practiced during the week? couldn’t have been defence or breakouts
so habs playing their usual game: PLAYING NOT TO LOSE. but I guess someone forgot to tell them there’s no shootout in playoff games. Can we just fire JM tomorrow instead of waiting till next week?
this team is a total embarrassment to the city of Montreal. they have no business being in the playoffs.
Lapierre and Darche had just 30 or 45 seconds of ice time apiece when they went on the ice for the Corvo goal. They now have a minute or less of ice-time and are both -1.
Lapierre and Darche had just 30 or 45 seconds of ice time apiece when they went on the ice for the Corvo goal. They now have a minute or less of ice-time and are both -1.
its not possible for halak to keep on playing the way he is ..i hope he does, but its going to catch up with this team sooner or later. our 5 on 5 is just so bad. that being said were still in the game barely.
ps….one of our biggest and youngest defensmen in OB is now where to be found…unreal he is not playing.
To me, the biggest issue in that period, as it has been throughout this season, is that, when there is a one-on-one battle for the puck, the opposing player comes away with it 9 out of 10 times. Thus the shot disparity. We need stronger players.
Shoulder injury still keeping him out on last report unfortunately, have to count on the Dogs keeping it going long enough for him to make it back, I suspect he’ll spend a good portion of next year in the AHL as well because of the injuries that have kept putting him out of action in Hamilton this year.
If the Caps beat the Habs this series (I should say when), the real dagger would be the Bears beating the Dogs in the Calder Cup final. Who knows? Maybe the reverse is possible.
It is big men versus smaller men for sure.
MAB is far worse as a forward. Believe it or not. He’s a plus player as a D-man.
The Habs practised protecting a 0-0 lead.
Whats, what, what? No shoot-out in the play-offs? OMG the Habs are screwed.
An embarrasment of fans deserves this embarrassment of a team.
They are NHLers. Every-one of them. Just not very good ones as a unit, at least not with this coaching staff.
the overall tone of his commentary sounds like someone frightened all the time… maybe with cause sometimes, but most of the time it’s his pessimism bleeding through
Not sure what to predict tonight…So I am going with my 7 keys to victory…
1. Go after the Caps at the drop of the puck…supersonic 30 second shifts that make the Caps look slow…skate like your life depends on it fast…feet moving all the time…pressure everywhere…attack, attack, attack some more…
2. Hit like crazy and be physical…someone needs to hit OV hard…Moen would be the candidate since he is darn near bullet proof…
3. Get uber dirty in the crease…Be the trash all the time…whack and smack…take the crosschecks…talk about Theo’s momma…all that stuff…
4. Hey JM!…how about taking some chances with an aggressive forecheck?…let Halak handle the odd man rushes and take some offensive risks…really what have you got to lose…lets open it up a little…
5.”Big money” guys gotta earn it tonight…you know who you are…Isn’t this why Bob got you?…We need some “Clutch”play…
6.Not so “big money” guys need to show up…3rd and 4th line production…a goal per line…
7.This last one is the most key of all! Score more goals than the Capitals…only way we’ll win…;P
Go Habs Go!
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
unless gomer-gio-cammy et al buzz Theo like yellowjackets on a plastic cup of stale Export, we don’t stand a chance. the outside game of the past 2 weeks needs to go, and the forecheck-force the play-drive the net play of the philly/buffalo wins must come back.
As happy as i am to simply be watching playoffs at this point, i do think it’s a mistake not having o’b in there for some size, i guess martin is hoping we can draw some penalties so Marc Ellis Valentine (dating myself) can fire a few blasts from the point.
big hopes for moen-moore-sk line. let’s see some red shirts smearing the plexiglass.
it will be a HUGE mistake not to dress our most physical D-MAN…..OBYRNE…its actually unthinkable considering we need the muscle back there to prevent their forwards from having an easy ride, in the corners and in front of our net… OBYRNE is a tough/dirty player who will make them pay, crosschecks to the back of the head etc…
but hey, no problem girlys…lets sit our biggest player…
I didn’t realized I was THIS buzzed about tonight until now…
This is cheap but:
As everyone who KNOWS hockey knows, all you have to do is contain Ovie… after that all you need to do is give the ol’ Gill glare to:
Backstrom
Green
Semin
Knuble
Laich
Fleischmann
Theo
All the others
George Washington
The FBI
Barack Obama
The ‘men in the background’
The X Files
Jason Bourne
Captain America
American healthcare
The Phoenix Coyotes (who are the REAL threat here)
…and everything will be fine.
The cup’s already in the bag.
Whatever… if the so called skaters on this team decide to work hard, this is going to be an entertaining series. Game one will set the tone for sure – if our boys compete hard why can’t they pull this off? They’ve beaten them before… if they get blown out they might just lie down, cuz that seems to be as fragile as they are…
After that? Who knows. I just don’t want to see/acknowledge Jersey… Last night’s game put me to sleep.
I don’t have the answer. Just an opinion. So bite me.
I dont think the caps will destroy us the way some people do….. BUT let’s be honest. Consistency has not exactly been our slogan this year and over a 7-game series, the talent differential will become VERY obvious.
I mean a positive one to put up to the glass during their warm up.
f*CK You Ovechkin

Habs in 3…2….1! GO!!!
I need a sign for the warm up tonight to encourage the Habs, any suggestions?
What about Sergei and Andrei Kos***syn?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Definitley not ;D, it’s just another fact we can rub in the face of a Leafs fan.
I am surrounded by Leafs fan and the way they belittle the Habs like they’re any better is annoying.
Me too, but hoping never got me anything, so I’m gonna go out on a limb and say I know we’re gonna win tonight. : )
Geez! Probably worse than my 30-page paper on the Sunni-Shia conflict in Iraq.

anyone else thing it’s sad that we get 10 new players, and blow up the team and STILL make the playoffs while the leafs haven’t been there in 5 years?
Exercis physiology and neurophysiological basis of movement, BOO!!!
(no multiple choice)
a bit off topic here but i was reading this thing on the upcomiing world championship. apprently canada is sending a young group this year names included( stamkos, tavres, ott, neal, beauchemain, perry, whitney & hell even eberle) i was just wondering why does nathan horton nor stephen weiss ever get considerations to these kinds of events.. i mean its not like they arent good hockey players
.::moen for captain::.
Good it will make firing the coach much easier when he lets us lose by not trying a goalie swap
Habs in 4.
GO HABS!!!
ITs good to be finally here…Playoffs!
GO HABS GO!!!
I’m behind you…
Fearless Game 1 prediction: both teams come out with a ton of energy.
IT’S KNUCKLE PUCK TIME

Actually, I won’t.
I’ll wait until after the season.
This series will probably be the high point of the Gainey rebuild.
GO HABS GO!!!!!
the habs better win so that I go into tomorrow’s accounting exam with positive energy
He also can’t be flushed.
You know there’s somthing wrong with the filtering system here when you can’t even mention the great Dick Irvin, but you can type Rejean Houle and Mario Tremblay as much as you like.

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
So the Habs come out and light up Theodore, shutting the Capitals down to just 20 shots.
Of those 20, on over 15 of them we see Halak stand on his head.
Habs win 5-1 and Martin channels Dick Irvin to motivate his squad to a six-game upset.
And still…..Exit716 will blast the incompetence of Habs management all the way down to Frank Selke.

lets have fun with this..
GO HABS GO!!!

Something to do with Jose Three-or-More?
Hello, I’m Jordan and I hate Julie…
Finally got ‘em for something and i didn’t see it (aka wasn’t obvious, maybe on replay)… Theo was 100% definitely out of the allowed area for a goalie when he covered that puck. He slid into it whith the puck in his catching glove. Should have been an automatic penalty. Only goalie I’ve seen called for that all year is Price (x2).
Easy on the mustard there no way Jose

GO HABS GO!
Gomez was awesome on that PK.
Great penalty killing!
I’m still confused how you can get a too many men penalty if you’re not in possession of the puck, or making a play on the puck.
The Wizards played last night.
He’s not responsible for the defensive line changes, and that’s who screwed up.

No excuse for Pouliot on that turn over. Ice it if you have to, Im falling out of love with this guy, quickly
\”It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Such good hockey.
And not too many here are either
The saddest thing is that Leonsis isn’t quite as whiney as the average Caps fan.
How there was no penalty shot or tripping call on the Gio play is beyond me. That was a clear cut call. Green got NO PUCK, ONLY BODY!
Pouliot is so bad defensively. Not only he made a lazy play on the board, he didn’t back check after he lost the puck.
Those are the ugliest Ice Girls ever.
You’re still not a real fan, dude. You trash the team with every post and now that they win a big one, you show some kind of unwritten love toward the team???? Ain’t buying your crap…

What a sequence!!!! That’s right, F**kers, we can play with you!!!!
Disgusting.
NO WAY, JOSE! PLEKS GETS THE LAST LAUGH.

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
recently came across your blog and have been reading along.
Oh that referee that looks like a cow calls a penalty.
PP?
8) Halak.
Who knew, you put pressure on in the O zone and you draw penalties

We are in their heads. They are afraid of our speed and our PP. We owned them in the 2nd period and in the OT. We can take these guys if the boys continue to believe in themselves.
In none of those examples did multiple refs conspire to screw the same team over and over.

OT!
GO HABS GO

I cannot believe what we just saw… total domination, the Caps were invisible. Need to score on the PP. We just showed we can play with these guys, and outplay them too.
Jacques Martin: “Yes! We got a point!”

AK- the one we actually drafted.
Going into OT on the power play. I like Les Boys chances. Win or lose, the Habs have played a great game.
So far, WHAT A GAME!

MAB should have passed that, but wtv, hopefully we can use the PP in OT to end the game, or atleast gain momentum.
man MAB makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes
Can’t say enough about Markov that period. He does things out there that very few d-men in this league are capable of. He’s brilliant.
Pouliot just made the second best play of the game by going after the refs for that penalty. (Nothing’s gonna top that play by Gomer)
“The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something.”- Randy Pausch
MAB is struggling tonight
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
I think fans in Montreal are already chanting THEEOOOO THEEEOOO

Tonight? Ovechkin!!!
Never in doubt boys and girls, we will come out of Washington with 4 points.!!!

All those chances we didn’t finish may haunt us later…can’t believe Habs did not get a goal…Hope this pressure continues next period…

How come after hearing for the first 30 minutes of the game on TSN how great the Caps are..suddenly there appeared to be technical difficulties from the guy between the benches?
Come on Pierre. Did the Habs not have a great second half of that period?
Your silence speaks volumes.
Great RefYap(TM) by Poolio. 5-on-4 to start OT.

GREAT PERIOD…and not a word about from TSN commentators…keep going boys!
I would choose Gomez simply because of the goal and his defensive play in the 1st and 2nd.
Can’t believe the site crashed lol, too funny. Anyone hooting their horns outside? Whata game.
Much, much, much better period…….
OH man this would be sweet to steal this game. Hab fans deserve one.
The replay showed that he got the puck first and then in sliding to whack the puck his legs took Gionta out from behind but after the puck was knocked away…the Moen charging call I was not sure about…
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
Poor Boudreau is probably blaming the press for not quoting his team correctly or looking for another suit from Value Village.
Shades of “Ninety three” if we can win in “Oh Tee”

The Habs are making me Bi-Polar.
Who in their right mind would have called a 2-2 OT? And with no SOG for Ovie? Absurd. Ridiculous. One of the most exciting games I’ve seen our guys play this season.
Still a few passengers though. There’s a couple of floaters out there who better pull their fingers out.
Gomer’s line due to show up in the third. AK seems to have his head out of his posterior tonight. Let’s hope it doesn’t see its shadow!
He’s shut down the Caps’ best player. That’s huge!

The big “o” is a big zero!!!
Hilarious. Saw the jpeg titled josebeachball and sounded suspiciously like a picture of a mexican guy frolicking on the beach.
It was their picking the Canucks-Kings and Sens-Penguins that gave TSN the Canadiens series, CBC gets to choose the first two Canadian team series to cover, than TSN gets to make a choice.

Very true.
What the heck happen there. We started to play hockey like a lightbulb went off.!!!
Someone must have said something!!!
Now that was the best 5 min. of the year. Do they believe now!!!
GO HABS GO!
Win in regulation? No, no, you can’t be serious. The System – playoff version is unleashed! Win in regulation it is.
I have tickets to Game 6 but if the Habs can end it in 4 or 5 games I would have absolutely no problem with that!!!
You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
I heard that San Jose are inquiring about Ovechkin’s availability after watching this game.
Somebody below mentioned how MAB played much better than we all expected…is it possible that JM might know what he is doing? Granted it is only one game….let’s see how JM adjusts for the Caps’ upcoming adjustments…
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
My point is that even when a ‘conspiracy’ has been uncovered it has been about betting. It has never been about ‘hey lets all screw this one particualr team because we all hate them’
It’s a MAB MAB world.
Timo, someday you might get on board. But at least you are still watching my friend!!
Really worried Ovie’s gonna pick the worst time to pot one……let’s hope the PP ends it quick
Agreed. MAB should be on the 4th line and PP only.

Bulldogs extend to a 2-0 lead over the Moose, Ryan White has his 2nd primary assist on the night on a Ryan Russell goal. White’s playing great hockey in Hamilton, bringing him next season and playing him with Moen would create quite the checking line I think.

”Playing goal is like being shot at.” – Jacques Plante
Martin is so relaxed when he heard there’s no shootout in playoffs.
I was looking for a split in Wash, could we get two??
I seriously hope O’Byrne is in there next game.
Every time the puck was near MAB in the first period he coughed it up. He was pushed around by every Caps forward. I just don’t think his slapshot is worth having him on the ice with Markov.
Great 2nd period push back.
Keep it up in the 3rd. Get in Theo’s face.
Caps are sensing this can go either way and will come out hard. Crunch time.
Bruins lose game 1. Yay

Green didn’t show up last year in the playoffs, so far he commited a huge (hopefully costly) gaffe in the third.
If I am any other playoff team watching this game, I am happy.
I wasn’t the only one! Can’t imagine what it’ll be like if we actually win the series!

It was definitely a game that I will never forgot and honestly probably the most exciting Habs gme I have ever seen, being only 23 I was not around the watch the Habs when they we unstopable but I kind of understand now how those of us old enough to have seen the greats feel.
for sharing the information. I am very amazed at the confidence level of you
guys, so i have to refer your blog to my friends because it’s really a help

I swear you guys come here just to spread hate instead of cheering for our team.
I noticed that too, stupid guy sitting down was like WOW OMG CAPS SHOOTING GALLERY i dont know what game he was watching in the last 10 minutes.
But yeah Good on Craig for actually giving us credit when its due
I’d be happy with the split.

Shots are 19-25 in favour of Caps……….Why are these jokers on TSN talkin about a “shooting gallery” and Habs “hangin” in there?
Brian Burke = Overrated Loud Mouth POS
Official now, I have a mancrush on Brian Gionta. He’s such a dreamy little fella.
We have our one point! Now we are in over time! Next goal wins!
I agree its the magic that is NHL playoffs…..but im hoping this OT is over in the first 1:30.
______________________________________ Gionta for Captain.
Disagree big time. Spacek has not been strong, especially early on. Gomez on the other hand has impressed me with his back-checking so far. Best Habs so far: Cammalleri, Gomez, Pouliot, Moen, Lapierre, Gill, Markov.
I think Halak is too, But hes been great when it counted tonight
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
I was actually shocked (and very relieved) that Gionta didn’t get a penalty himself on his short-handed near-breakaway. He only had the break because he tripped up Ovechkin, so I guess these things even out.
ok, they’re awake, good 2nd half of 2nd period…if they keep up this attack, they’ve got a shot
Take the point and RUN!!!!!!!!!
Oh crap its the playoffs.
Come on Theo, we need a little help here.
Omg I still can’t believe it…what a beautiful evening
Cant wait to see games 3 and 4 in montreal, if Theo thinks its tough now, wait till they chant his name and get in his head
I’ve been watching without commenting.
Survive the first 5 min (if there is one after the PP) and we have a chance. Gotta just go for it!
Bipolar or Manic-Depressive Disorder is a disease than can treated.

Thanks for update 09
That’s kinda unfair since the entire team played like sh*t in the first period. MAB played a MUCH better game than Hamrlik IMO.

Love that they’ve taken the Caps to overtime.

cuz they have hard-on’s for the caps and ovechkin, like someone mentioned, habs start playing well and hey where did pierre mcguire go! mysteriously had nothing to say!
BIG PROPS to Halak –
.951 save percentage against the Caps! 39 saves! Man, I bow down to this guy, stellar performance.
The playoffs players have stepped up after all – Gomez, Markov, Gill, Cammalleri working very hard!
Everyone is! I’d like to see Andrei turn on the Jets – that would shut up every single Leafs fan in my school.
Leafstv “telling their fans they deserve to win for over 40 years”
If we take just 1 game in Washington we have a series. Go down 2-0 and it’s over.

I’m in Toronto….cancelled RDS after the season ended.

Gomez, Spacek, Halak. Wow! Markov wins this in the first minute.
Good to see you here old friend.
love that you brought that up! was just thinking it
Hamrlik didn’t take a dumb hooking penalty after getting outworked by a Caps forward in the first minute.
MAB was an absolute pylon out there letting guys get around him
Really? Not sure what you’re seeing from him. He’s failed to take advantage of a few golden opportunities, like the three-on-one that he screwed up. Cammy and Pleks are carrying that line. as usual.
4 passes and a point shot and finish with a rebound shot and its over. Habs win.
“ giving us credit”
I didn’t know you were on the ice that period.
The big goof is effective for sure Chuck
Shots are 27-20. Caps fans could say the exact same thing about Theo.

That Bruins – Buffalo game sounds like it was a bit of a dud. Can’t say I feel sorry for the CBC. The whole network is a sad disgrace – TV and radio.
On the issue of the CBC choosing to broadcast the Bruins – Sabres over the Habs, here is an excerpt from their legally mandated obligations:
while serving the special needs of those regions,
This Toronto based network that provides mediocre TV and lame radio receives about $1 billion from the federal govt.! That is more than we spend on medical research.

Nobody was in their zone to sustain pressure and we gave them the neutral zone. Yeah…
WOW tripping on Gio and NOTHING!!!
THIS GAME IS RIGGED!
HOW THE HELL WAS THAT NOT A PENALTY?
That should be a penalty shot!
Wow. Refs? Really? Then Caps nearly score…
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
He’s like General Motors, hes on a big comeback!!!!
Haha
Green touched the puck first – no penalty.
Frustrating, but the right call.

The Habs are making me Bi-Polar.
You thought the Habs would get a fair shake from the NHL?
Come on. If they called the game evenly, Leonsis would whine on “Ted’s Take” on his website.
And another missed hook. F’ing refs.
blowouts for the Habs
Bergeron with 3 goals in this series – all on PP.
why dont the refs just leave the ice cause they certainly aren’t going to do their jobs…. ive counted at least 3 penalties in the last 3 minutes
haha that’s hilarious. I screamed like a maniac too. No child to wake, though.
I’m still somewhat in disbelief.
I think they are just letting them play
one could commit murder and not get caught

He’s on his knees faster than Price. Which, if you ask, Shiloh, happens faster than the speed of light.
Can’t even BELIEVE there was no call on that Gionta trip.
……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
As long as the league wants them to win the Cup
- I Hab Faith
D better be careful pinching
well, it’s obvious that Gary “little Napoleon” Bettman has called the refs and told them who is supposed to win. How was that not a penalty shot, or at least a penalty
Another ridiculous icing
Amazing game though
I was about to scream but I realized I’m in the library.
I’m still in shock.
Big PP, lets get some shots, Jaro is on pace for 60 against at this point…
So far so good…PP needs to start gelling right about now…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Just saw that. point still stands, however.
First gaffe didn’t cost us, can’t do that again, right Hamr

I can see that being a penalty, MAB gave a little bit of a hold, but it better be the same against them is all.
Is ovi gonna play the whole pp?
Bergeron hauled down! No call!
How is Bergeron being tackled not a penalty?

Good PK
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Moen lucky he didn’t get called
Oh-oh…no call on MAB there…
Gill should be on against Ovy. He can take him.
Every goalie wants shots early. So far so good..i guess?!?
Bipolar or Manic-Depressive Disorder is a disease than can treated.
The boy’s got some jump. Good omen I hope… )
Big kill by the boys, would be nice if the refs called it fairly though.
Why is MAB on D? We mentioned this 10000 times before today.
Theo in the forbidden area with that puck when he froze it!
Is O’Byrne scratched? Who else?
Theo just covered the puck outside the trapezoid!!! How is that not a penalty?
maxwall

wow hamr,wake up buddy
HAMRLIK – WAKE UP!
Hamrlik…. He’s just been terrible lately.
awesome D boys….
Hamrlik looks like he’s 53 not 35 this time of year, guy should retire, honestly.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Woah! That is some kinda speed! Getting a PP! Better capitalize.
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
Wow, Hammer is trying to take the worse D title away from MAB.
- I Hab Faith
lol, well he should haha.
Great chance for them ends in a PP for us. I’ll take it, but come on. Those geezers are going to kill us.
So OB’s in the PB but Hammer still plays? WTF Jacques?
Habs have to beat the Capitals and the NHL to win this series.
These things always work themselves out, like Harmlik will wear some goat horns and redeem himself for that.
But did O’Byrne really do that much to warrant his benching when we see plays like that? You have to accept that we’re not all perfect and will make mistakes.

GO HABS GO!
Time to unleash the W.M.D.
- I Hab Faith
true say… I love that Gill blocks passing lanes and shots
Too bad OB is so slow, cause I like his size for physicality needed in this game.
Gill is slow, too. But it’s your positioning that makes you effective.

He’s in year 1 of a 4 year contract. Can you endure another 4 years of eeking into the playoffs via the back-door and doing a quick exit?? The good news is all those number 15 picks at the draft are gonna win the Calder Cup for years. The AHL is ours baby!!!
Fine. Not a perfect start. The refs sucked. We lost several battles but still come out of it tied 1-1.
Now – Regroup. Fine tune. Come out strong. Win.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Boone they can have 100 shots on goal….who scores the most Canadiens) is what matters.
Bulldogs draw first blood in their game against the Manitoba Moose, 1-0 so far on a Mike Glmuac goal, White and Subban get the assists on it.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
plus they were just shooting from everywhere
so it’s the Washington caps vs the Hamilton Canadiens.
yes it’s men vs midgets. this is so painful to watch.
why the hell is MAB playing D? pure suicide!
And I wonder what habs practiced during the week? couldn’t have been defence or breakouts
so habs playing their usual game: PLAYING NOT TO LOSE. but I guess someone forgot to tell them there’s no shootout in playoff games. Can we just fire JM tomorrow instead of waiting till next week?
this team is a total embarrassment to the city of Montreal. they have no business being in the playoffs.
they all belong in the QMHL.
I may heard from Attaque à 5 when one of the commentaries quoted a Gomez line, and I probably not quite good in French but he quoted from Gomez:
“If you can’t win for the Cup, you’re nothing!”
I love Spatch interviews!
Go. Away.

I’m not going to say whether you are right or wrong on this issue but you need to pick your spots better.
Lapierre and Darche had just 30 or 45 seconds of ice time apiece when they went on the ice for the Corvo goal. They now have a minute or less of ice-time and are both -1.

Just saw, ” What if Roy played like a rookie commercial” Ahh those were the days.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Did you see Lucic… crazy ******
MAB to 4th line – DARCHY out for now and bring in OBYRNE…
very easy NEEDED adjustment.
its not possible for halak to keep on playing the way he is ..i hope he does, but its going to catch up with this team sooner or later. our 5 on 5 is just so bad. that being said were still in the game barely.
ps….one of our biggest and youngest defensmen in OB is now where to be found…unreal he is not playing.
To me, the biggest issue in that period, as it has been throughout this season, is that, when there is a one-on-one battle for the puck, the opposing player comes away with it 9 out of 10 times. Thus the shot disparity. We need stronger players.
Do you know if MaxPac is back? It would be encouraging to see him make some playoff noise.
Ummm did someone take a marker to Darren Dreger’s eyebrows???? ___________________________________________

Brawl in Buffalo:
Lucic in the middle of it.
Anyone know what Boone was talking about here and what went down in buffalo?
The torch be yours to hold it high!
Shoulder injury still keeping him out on last report unfortunately, have to count on the Dogs keeping it going long enough for him to make it back, I suspect he’ll spend a good portion of next year in the AHL as well because of the injuries that have kept putting him out of action in Hamilton this year.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
why don’t they dress 7 D and only play MAB on the pp, bench him the rest of the game… what did O’B do? Bang someone’s wife?
its a good start…but as i’ve been saying for 2 years on this blog…we need SIZE/GRIT..and our biggest SIZEGRIT is in the pressbox!
anyway, gotta love the boys, really trying, but they need to not be intimidated…draw MORE PENALTIES!!!!
Chara SMASH.
Chara hit someone from behind into the boards and a bru-ha-ha broke out
True dat. Also not impressed with short passing game. Puck control in general looks dainty and nervous.
our forwards back off…peeps say size should not matter…right..come on Habs christ.
I think it was Ludman and Lucic scrumming…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
lol…i forgot…of course.
Bummer.
Welcome back nunahabsrthisflavourofthemonth

signs of life
its better than shooting from nowhere
From what I can see JMs adjustment is: Beer league stretch passes to the blueline and hope for the best…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Halak HAS to get those rebounds under control. They’re brutal.
that little girl did, too bad we got 2 more
Couldn’t agree more…..brilliant first period but his bouncy pads are killing my nerves
and who says Europeans don’t know how to fight

Fearless prediction: This game makes me fail tomorrows final.
let’s just say i won’t be getting an A tomorrow morning.
Ouch, I consider myself lucky that I have no class on Fridays. The game will be my break from working on various projects.
as long as someone brings their A game in the next 12 hours.
- We’ve gotta beat the beat, and fist pump our way to victory!
Big chance to get the first one.
the overall tone of his commentary sounds like someone frightened all the time… maybe with cause sometimes, but most of the time it’s his pessimism bleeding through
Jaro (and his D) have to watch out for those LONG rebounds. The Caps start jumping on those and we’ll be in BIG trouble.

Good effort Gomez, but you gotta go low. Going high takes away any center of gravity advantage you might have.
Gomez’s crappy pass broke up that PP opportunity. Loss of momentum.
————————————————————-
Not signing or trading Pleks = yet another missed opportunity.
Test Theo. Shots. Traffic. Rebounds. Not rocket science.
So that’s not obstruction but MAB gets called? It;s gonna be a long night
Just about have had enough of McMouth already!

Good survival of the 1st 10min.
Bipolar or Manic-Depressive Disorder is a disease than can treated.
Thank GOD for Halak!
Bergeron! Better be nerves cause he looks awful, soft soft passes coming out of his own zone.
Gomez has been dynamite on faceoffs so far, Halak looks excellent, MAB on D looks like the worst decision of the year.
mab is stinking it up so far…
Ugh, Bergeron.
Both goalies are extremely nervous!! woooww
bergeron is so bad it’s unreal.. he should be strictly PP
Which team does Bergeron play for again? Because I swear its the Caps.
Gomez has come to play!
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
MAB being MAB, on defense anyway
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Yep …the size difference is gonna Kill us ,just a matter of time!
Pleks line came to play…Sergei’s line too…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Gotta play a guy whose only redeeming ability is a 1-timer since playing AK on the point for PP situations is a mortal sin with JM.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
agreed!
I just turn down the volume on TSN, click on CJAD on the computer and watch the blood pressure drop
plekanec is really going to show how much money he’s worth this summer
MAB is gonna kill me.
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
MAB is playing like there’s another line of defence behind him.
McMouth – “Halak a straight butterfly guy”??? truly he lacks the ability to think before his mouth performs.
Bipolar or Manic-Depressive Disorder is a disease than can treated.
Not a smart play from Chimera
Good to see Gomez and Gill coming in defense of Josh
- I Hab Faith
Double post sorry. Go habs go!
I just can’t stand PM
LOL, maybe he think he’s playing RW
- I Hab Faith
Nice to see Jaro came to play. Wish the rest of the team came with him.
Once killed ten men with the pointy bits of a single asterisk, he did. Ten feet tall if he was an inch!
The legend of “Three Star Irvin” is in effect tonight.
unless gomer-gio-cammy et al buzz Theo like yellowjackets on a plastic cup of stale Export, we don’t stand a chance. the outside game of the past 2 weeks needs to go, and the forecheck-force the play-drive the net play of the philly/buffalo wins must come back.
Awai les gars!!!!
Better yet to be good AND lucky

… the refs for the Habs first game of the 1st round are Brad Watson and Brad Meier.
I feel we can win the game tonight. If we do win, though, I’ll be scared of Game 2…
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
it will be a HUGE mistake not to dress our most physical D-MAN…..OBYRNE…its actually unthinkable considering we need the muscle back there to prevent their forwards from having an easy ride, in the corners and in front of our net… OBYRNE is a tough/dirty player who will make them pay, crosschecks to the back of the head etc…
but hey, no problem girlys…lets sit our biggest player…
Any news on line combos and D pairings
The torch be yours to hold it high!
agreed. i think we’ll see o’byrne within a couple games once martin realizes our d isn’t working.
Abbadaabbadabbada.
I didn’t realized I was THIS buzzed about tonight until now…
This is cheap but:
…and everything will be fine.
I don’t have the answer. Just an opinion. So bite me.
I dont think the caps will destroy us the way some people do….. BUT let’s be honest. Consistency has not exactly been our slogan this year and over a 7-game series, the talent differential will become VERY obvious.
Let’s enjoy playoff hockey while it lasts…
And burn down a few police cars if we win!
