Liveblog: Another home-ice suckfest

jm12 0221 stars 02

The Canadiens played another gosh-awful first period en route to losing their 22nd game at the Bell Centre.
Mercifully, there are only nine home games left.

And the boos rained down on our hapless heroes …

It’s getting worse!! It looks like the LAFFS are getting at least one point….and the Jets will get two……no Flyers scored….at least one point also…..DAMN!!!!…..LAFFS get only one…..Devils became temporarily stupid tonight…..at the wrong time. Now there will be at least a 7 point deficit between Montreal and 8th place….take those Winnipeg Thrashers out Flyers!!!

  2. Adidess says:

How much pain can one take in one night? Leafs just scored with their goalie pulled to draw 3-3.

    • vanejorg says:

I’ll see your pain….and raise you with……never mind the Jets lost in overtime. Only a 7 point deficit between Les Canadiens and 8th place. Still 42 possible points to acquire. Not one team is even unofficially out at the bottom of that conference. Some good news perhaps, from an otherwise nightmare of an evening.

  3. TPlow says:

At least Boone is in top form tonight. Good show!

  4. Marc10 says:

Nice coverage on Ribeiro. Nice collapse 13 seconds later.

  5. manu07 says:

    Leads tied jersey

  6. HabFanSince72 says:

Brodeur lets one in with 30 sec to go.

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

  7. Habzfan says:

Why is Leblanc playing on the habs. He should be in Hamilton logging tons of ice time.

  8. boing007 says:

The tanks are rolling in now.

  9. rogieshan says:

I guess Weber’s fifteen minutes are up.

  10. habsfan0 says:

Fans starting to boo team. Will Gainey make a statement to the effect we don’t need fans like that..or is he booing himself?

  11. kerrgte says:

i wouldn’t pay to watch this ‘team’ play, but I’d pay to see PG’s next conversation with Geoff Molson

  12. Sotxhabsfan says:

With the effort in front of him, Price should just pull himself and go watch a movie or something.

  13. kerrgte says:

i wouldn’t pay to watch this ‘team’ pay, but I’d pay to see PG’s next conversation with big Geoff M

  14. Storm Man says:

can RDS show if PG in on BBM making some deals now. That would be more fun to watch.

  15. duffy says:

Can it get any worse ? Kostitsyn ,COMPLETLY USELESS.!!!!

  16. HabFanSince72 says:

Now everyone is going to climb aboard the tankwagon.

    Bunch of foul-weather fans.

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

Carey, get off your knees. Ash Wednesday doesn’t start until tomorrow.

  18. EricInStL says:

I think Price should do an own goal just to show the team he thinks they suck

  19. PureGuava says:

We’re back in the Yakupov sweepstakes!

  20. vanejorg says:

At least there are no flukey goals so far tonight. Two pretty good goals, plus a “flub” by Price. Let’s see how the other low ranking teams in the East do.

  21. EastCoastHab says:

Good night, take care, drive home safe, see you next year folks..

Is there a link for habstank yet?

  22. rogieshan says:

Funny how the Habs can look so clueless against most of the teams from the western conference this season.

  23. CHicoHab says:

Price will never make it in the NHL……….

“take your time and hurry up”

  24. AliHaba says:

    Let the tanking begin.

  25. habsfan0 says:

    Is the Fat Lady ready?

    • Clay says:

      She’s certainly fat enough.

Next home game brown paper bag night.

  27. twilighthours says:

Price real bad on that sequence

  28. BLACK ICE says:

    Price, F Montreal & leave son …

  29. HabinBurlington says:

And the Fat Lady has begun warming up. Too bad.

  30. ffenliv says:

Like I said 2 weeks ago: I hope for wins, but the losses are coming, so I get to enjoy a decent pick, and the odd win.

They had *endless* chances to put this one away, and never even came close.

Time to score one to get the home crowd into it, but then fail to get the second.

On the the other hand, I have Lehtonen in my pool…

Heh, give up another before I can even type it out.

If Price starts the next game, the coaching staff are idiots. The season is OVER guys. Give him a rest.

  31. habsfaninboston says:

    That’s all she wrote.

  32. Captain aHab says:

    Oh noes….Darche is hurt.

Nice hustle AK. This guy doesn’t give a crap….
“take your time and hurry up”

  34. Storm Man says:

    That’s all for this year

  35. Danno says:

    Goodnight Irene.

Tanks for the big effort tonight boys.

Is it a mathematical impossibility for the Habs to catch Columbus?

  37. Captain aHab says:

    T-A-N-K…..tank, tank, tank!

    McGuire for GM!
    Roy for Coach!

  38. HabinBurlington says:

    And Ribeiro of all people.

  39. English is not a Crime says:

They’re just trying to save water. Price is the only one that’s going to need a shower after this game

  40. HabFanSince72 says:

    How good is Grigorenko?

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

  41. H.Upmann says:

Oh yeah read that piece on RC today – WTF are you doing not playing Eller???? You gotta to be kidding me. The guy contributes way more than Gomez. Totally channelling JM all over again

  42. EricInStL says:

An interesting question for the NHLPA poll would have been ”easiest team to play against”.

If Montreal doesn’t win that one….

  43. kempie says:

    Diaz = painful

Swear to God, I’d rather have a 64 year old Chelios than these guys.

  44. HABitual Fan says:

Two periods… Habs haven’t even dressed for the game yet! Would someone please tell these guys they are supposed to be battling every shift! Playing for their playoff lives are they? Man, what a lack of effort, so far…

  45. rogieshan says:

I guess Cunneyworth is saving Eller for the PK.

I no longer buy what our coach is selling.

  46. gumper says:

Last two games the Habs have been especially dainty. Not wanting to get the nose bloodied, not particularly interested in upping their game. Just outclassed? Tired? Disinterested? Not sure how they can’t find the motivation, given the situation. Maybe they just don’t believe they have a winning game plan.

  47. showey47 says:

pavelic may have just made one of the best saves of the year.

  48. HabinBurlington says:

If RCs showcasing of Campoli results in a 3rd round draft pick does RC pick up a Million dollar bonus this offseason?

  49. Rad says:

Winnipeg, Buffalo, and Tampa Bay all leading by a goal in the 3rd.

  50. CHicoHab says:

The last Hab to score over 30 goals was Richard Zednik with 31 in 2002-2003 season. In back to back seasons 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 Michael Ryder had 30 goals. Last year Gionta had 29.
This year maybe Max Pac. In the last 10 years Zednik and Ryder. Thats it.
“take your time and hurry up”

  51. EastCoastHab says:

It may be cliche’ but this period coming up determines the rest of the season. Looking at the standings / scores tonight and the fact of crappy playing and confidence this one tells the tale

  52. The Dude says:

Goals from Ribs and Ryder cumming up…..

  53. habstrinifan says:

Anyone remember Gaston Gingras…. not sure but I swear I saw the dude in Ottawa today… gotta be a double.

  54. H.Upmann says:

@duffy can you imagine this team without price and riding Budaj? Shudder

  55. arcosenate says:

Love gettin pushed around all period, blowing some good chances and most of all LOVE watching Gomez earn his pay cheque shift after shift after…I must say I wouldn’t pay to watch Gomer play hockey but I might pay to watch him leave the Bell Centre for the last time.

  56. HabFanSince72 says:

After today it will be Toronto, Winnipeg, Washington and Florida battling for 2 playoff spots (one of which is guaranteed to Washington or Florida).

    And we can tankapalooza baby.

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

  57. habsfan0 says:

Boone..I believe Habs scored a goal vs New Jersey…or maybe it was just a mirage.

  58. doug19 says:

OK When the other team has a player in the penalty box in a game against the Montreal Canadiens there is a new league rule.

“THIS SHALL NOT BE DEEMED A POWER PLAY OR IN ANY WAY BE REFERRED TO AS ONE.”

  59. Pucknut says:

Jeff Carter… That’s who I’d like to see between Cole & MaxPac

  60. duffy says:

I think the proper thing for Mr. Molson to do would be to refund all tickets for this game. Ido not know how he can charge for this Garbage.Dallas is making complete fools of this team tonight. If not for CP this game would be a major Blowout.

  61. H.Upmann says:

(off topic) If there’s one reason why I favour Bulkdogs moving to Laval, it’s for the kids to be exposed to the pressure right away. Make the step to the next level more ‘natural’ in a way.

  62. PeterD says:

Blow it up Pierre…as currently put together this team really sucks.
I like what Stevie Y is doing…I see him going for Gigorenko with his first pick this summer. Then buying out Lecavier under the up coming new buy-out in the new CBA.

  63. 24 Cups says:

Jersey 3 – Toronto 2, with ten minutes to go.

  64. HabsFansince49 says:

PG has informed them they have to tank. Not a very hard job for this listless crew.
Look at the coaching crowd behind the Habs bench. What a bunch of dough heads!

  65. gumper says:

Well, at least the buyer/seller debate is finally settled, and a top five pick is nothing to sneeze at. All trades must be for picks and prospects, then a complete retool this summer, top to bottom. Perfect time for a fresh start.

  66. rogieshan says:

Of course, deep down, we all want to see our Habs in the playoffs. But, seriously, does the makeup of this year’s team merit a miracle run?

  67. Led says:

This team has zero puck retrieval skills. It’s a big reason we suck on powerplays and a big reason the puck is always in our end.

  68. Habzfan says:

The tank is on and the players know it. With the trading of Gill for prospects management has more or less given up on this season. Any more trades coming??

  69. Rad says:

Habs were getting manhandled down low on more than one occasion in the offensive zone. We need a player like Chris Stewart down low, especially with the man advantage. A no-nonsense, tough SOB that enjoys hurting people.

  70. Habsbill24 says:

New post Gill strategy to kill penalties, don’t take any.

  71. The Dude says:

In dedication to this Habs season I’m going to take up golf!

  72. kerrgte says:

    why was Plekanec scratched?
