Credit the Ottawa Senators with an absolutely heroic effort.
Trailing 2-1 in an elimination game, the Senators played a spectacular third period at Madison Square Garden.
An eighth-place team that was out of the playoffs a year ago can hold its head high.
Are the Senators and Panthers inspiration for the Canadiens?
Let’s hope so.
It was a spectacularly entertaining game.
Full credit to the Senators. They gave the Rangers a ferocious battle.
And for the first time since 1996, the second round of the playoffs will have ZERO Canadian-based teams.
The Rangers will play Washington in the semi-final round.

I feel your pain Rob D…and now that their season is over, half the team is now going to win all the awards..and assclown is nearing god status..its enough to make me barf…I am happy they are gone..not as happy as when the Bruins made their exit..but close..
All the praise for Ottawa is classy…but remember they choked in Game 6 where even their coach said they didn’t bring it all to the table. After living amongst Sens fans for 15 years and hearing them gloat after yet another win over the Habs, you’ll excuse me if I confess to laughing my guts out whilst watching them get stoned by the best goalie in the league. I hates them, I do!….lol
It’s not enough for them to lose, they have to lose painfully in a game they shoulda/coulda won. Just like the Bruins.
Thanks Boone for pointing out the stuff about Joel Ward etc… Exactly the same stuff that PK gets when he plays in Boston. I think one has to be naive to not recognize it.
Patrick Holland And his Tri City Americans Eliminated tonight from WHL Playoffs against Portland Winterhawks, Holland’s next stop Hamilton via Montreal pre-season camp.
Any trades our new GM is going to make to start stamping his mark on the team should be built around acquiring as many draft picks as possible for 2013 draft year, the 2013 draft year could produce a team to build on for years. ,
So far we still have all our picks plus 2 other second rounders via Nashville and Calgary 2013
1st round pick – Montréal
2nd round pick – Montréal
2nd round pick – Montréal (from Calgary – Cammalleri trade)
2nd round pick – Montréal (from Nashville – Kostitsyn trade)
3rd round pick – Montréal
4th round pick – Montréal
5th round pick – Montréal
6th round pick – Montréal
7th round pick – Montréal
Henrique’s been scoring big goals like that since his Windsor days.
What a team they had.

Any chance they can just draw lots for the cup and we can move on to the draft? I mean, does anyone, anywhere care who wins now? I imagine they have a suicide watch on at CBC for whoever negotiated the rights for this year’s play-offs. BBC’s “The Art of Watching Paint Dry” will have higher ratings. Hockey season is now over! Fore!!!
Wait a couple days, Serge, before you ring Dale’s cell.
Crap.
I’m in this contest to see a game in the Finals, I was hoping it’d be Fort Lauderdale

Boston Bruins, gutless diving weasel pukes.
Theodore vs Brodeur. Was there REALLY any doubt?
Haha, its funny cuz I said the same thing to my bro.
Great game. Staying with it in spite of having to get up early for work. Clarkson or Bergenheim with the winner.

Fla fans have been standing up for at least the last two periods – who needs seats……
Brodeur has been keeping the Devils in it during the OT.

Huge saves off of Madden
Did anyone find a link to the Jack Edwards call on the OT goal last night.
Is this it
He sounds pissed.

NBC sports had the game so Edwards didn’t get to call it on NESN
Here are his post game thoughts though. He looks like he’s gonna cry.

OT! Good game!
Game six in the NJ v. Fla series was kind of dull hockey, but all the other game great to watch.

That was probably in , but without a micro chip embedded in the puck, impossible to call a goal
Wow, Hope the cats can pull this off, but I have my doubts. NJ is playing good.
That could have been called goalie interference there, but the ref would’ve needed brass balls to do it.

Goalie Interference should almost become a review-able call, when they call it there wrong and when they dont call it there wrong, a very tough call to make on the fly with the speed of things happening on the ice
Agreed, it needs to be reviewable.

The ref in Boston/Washington game with a borderline goalie interference call on The OT winner was Walkhom the same individual who was officating a game a few years back between Fla & Leafs when Leafs Colton Orr wiped out The Panthers goalie and a goal was scored & allowed with Walkhom about 10 feet away. If Walkhom does not call off The Leafs goal no way he is calling off The Caps OT winner……lol
Panthers!
***Subbang Baby!!!***
More Game 7 hockey yes
Panthers do what The Bruins could not do score a PP Goal…….
Cats tie it up!!
Eleven year old kid at the London other ranger game last night tells me he hates tanordi that he is the meanest player on the ice…..can’t wait,eh.
I bet you all the Kitchener Rangers players hate him as well, time for the Habs to get a big mean shutdown Dman in our line up that sticks up for his team mates
Gotta love that Klondike commercial
Starting to heat up in Sunrise!
Not a bad game at all, game 7′s rock, hoping for some ot
Weiss with a rocket on the PP to make it a game.

Well I might as well be the one to say it. I know you are all thinking it.
Florida looks like they gonna be out… Dale Tallon??????
Boston is out…… Claude Julien??????
So is KARMA basically picking our mngmnt for us… Tallon/Julien.
Just wondering…. cause as I said a lot lately…. HABS KARMA is way up now.
LOL
So true. About the karma.
I think Julien & Tallon will be with their current teams to start the new season.
Hasn’t Tallon only been there for one year and they’ve had one of their best seasons in years?
Did Craig Anderson shun the post game handshake?
No I thought he did, but came back on ice for handshakes.
No he came back out.
Cool. I was watching the game PVR’d and it just ended.
Devils putting on a defensive clinic. I am not really a fan of any team other than the Habs but since I am a long-time fan of the game, I might as well cheer for the two teams that play within 25 miles of my house. Go Rangers and Devils.

Just catching up on Florida-NJ. Says Florida only had 2 shots in 2nd period… is that true?
Yup

NJ/Fla VS Phi…
I see Wash vs Phi
agree
Rangers v. Capitals will be even more boring either of those team’s first round series.

2-2 Saint John vs Chicoutimi late in 3rd, Saint john Leading Conference Final 2-1, Charles Hudon has scored for Chicoutimi, Habs might Look at him, with possible 4th round Pick.
If Hudon had size, he’d be a first round pick. Very talented.

I have been watching him since Midget always impressed me, hopefully he has one last growth spurt.
I’d even take him with our 3rd rounder, never mind 4th.
Heck he might be worth it at the Nashville pick, depending on how deep the Preds go in the playoffs and whats on the board at that point.
I’d definitely like a guy like him. He’s a natural goal scorer.

Even with the 3-1 series lead that Chicoutimi team’s got me a little nervous.
“I’m not opposed to trading Plekanec and/or Markov”

Even with Chicoutimi playing hard and desperate playoff hockey, it will be hard for them to overcome 3-1 deficit against such a talent loaded St. John team and having to win twice in St. John’s,
The Rangers were the best team in the conference throughout the season so I’m glad they won.
All hail King Henrik.
Henrik is and has been one of the best…for a while. There are certain players you feel deserve to play long in the season.
He is one of those guys.
Yeah I am Canadian, but sorry OTT, I was rooting for NYR.
I am not totally hartless..I do feel bad for him..but not for the team…he will get over it…no more…”at least we made the playoffs”
i don’t feel bad for them…see ya…
Same here.
They did themselves proud.
Kind of like Habs vs. Bruins last year.
Sens put in a good effort, it sucks the refs called that trip, even though they were probably still done. Oh well, just glad the Bruins are done.
Who are you guys cheering for now? I’m gonna go for the Caps, other than that the playoffs are not that exciting for some reason.
Had to call that, he put his stick straight out, prevented empty net goal most likely, can’t blame ref.
You sure? It looked like the sen was going to play the puck and prevent a goal, but the ref saw it as a trip and called it :S
Not saying its a conspiracy but I guess I didn’t see it your way. It makes sense in that way but it looked like the sens player was going to stop it anyway. Still, it was a good game.
Just my opinion, but watching replay I felt they had to call it.
my hubby has gone to the other room to watch storage wars or something on the history channel and sulk..
Come on Mavid, for one night show some compassion for the guy
It’s hard not to like Ottawa after a series like that. What heart.
Great effort by Ottawa, too bad. Now a conundrum who to cheer for Rangers or Caps, two teams I have zero use for……
I know what you mean…next year, this time, Habs!!!
wow what a game and series!!! sens dug deep but the hockey gods have other plans.
I actually feel a twinge of sadness for Ottawa. I’m getting soft.
OK, its been 7 minutes. So you’re over it now, right?
***Subbang Baby!!!***
Right! Eff the Sens. Go Habs Go! haha

Helluva last few minutes of a game 7. Ottawa put up a helluva fight.

Anderson Ottawa goalie didn’t shake hands.
Edit: Nevermind he came back out. He had left ice after game final whistle.
Got to hand it to the Sens. They left it all out there on the ice.
I thought they gave 110%.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
Of course we could also say they had their backs to the wall, they were a bit back on their heels, they didn’t go quietly, but then the wheels just fell off.

Rangers where there to be had.
they looked possessed
Don’t give up, Alfie. Come back next year.

Wow! They played with heart. Now, who do I cheer for?

You guessed it!!!!!!!!!!!!

You’re right it’s Karlsson
Cowen’s penalty sparked all this
Awesome action.

Despite my many criticisms of Cole, he did a great job with that Ottawa pressure, the cadence and pitch of his voice is his gift. As Propwash said, too bad he just isn’t as sharp anymore.
He is still the best, Despite the name mix ups. No one can do it like he can.
He’s obsessed with numbers…in absence of any insight about the game, he prattles on about the time or the shots on goal or whatever…
as they went to break it sounded like he just had some amazing S…
Bob Cole needs a cigarette
if ever a team deserved a tying goal wow
for sure, what determination.
Imagine if the Habs could do that
Vintage Bob Cole, its Hilarious!!!!
If the Rangers win… it’s not the most inspiring and convincing way to get into the next round.

Their next opponent is Washington. Watch out NY.
