Liveblog: Week begins weakly

The Canadiens had to win.
They didn’t.

It’s almost over, compadres.

Is it possible to get a link to Antichambre?

  2. riddler says:

Novahab. U really think this is a steroid conspiracy?
    Roids help but……..

    • novahab says:

Yea your right and they were all mistaken in Baseball none there either. None at the tour de France and of coarse none in football. None at the high schools or my local gym. They are everywhere but the NHL. Don’t know why people can’t understand the dirty drug is in ever sport but the NHL no way not the NHL. That’s why Bettman don’t need no stinking drug test. Never oh never in the NHL

  3. timothy13 says:

I had a bad feeling about tonight’s game. I mean every team that is on a L streak ALWAYS ends up beating the Habs. The Habs meanwhile never can build on a previous W more than twice and how many times have they failed to do that this season! Too many! A long break always means the Habs play badly and get out shot and D makes too many mistakes. Did they L the game? One thing is for sure Price can stand on his head but he can not score goals and he can not steal games. I can’t wait for this season to END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. twilighthours says:

Who is next? Eller! Damn, I know theres a push to love him because he was the return on golden boy halak and he had is 4 goal game, but do some of you guys actually watch what he does on the ice?

He carries the puck out of his own zone all the time. Its often dangerous.

Tonight, he gained the red line and had two options every time: dump it in or carry it all the way. All too often he waited till he got to the blue line – and his linemates were totally stopped – to dump it in. Worst play he could Make in those situations.

He has got so much to learn. Not even close to being ready to be a #1 guy.

    • krob1000 says:

No 1 guy? that is alittle much at this stage to ask but he played a great game…he did have two turnovers at the other blueline but he repeatedly had no option and carried the puck out of the zone…that is an asset not a liability though so I am not sure what you are talking about. Not many guys have the speed and poise to make those plays….after Desharnais right now….he is the best guy we have at making space. If the guys are going to fly the zone early then what is he supposed to do? You can blame him for those turnovers at the far blueline but hat is about it tonight…I think he was one of the few bright spots.
He and Andrei were dangerous…unfortunately they had blunden with them…

      • twilighthours says:

Disagree krob. Sure he can carry it, and this is an asset. He does it far too often. Ask his coach – “the only time you should try to beat a guy 1-on-1 is for a scoring chance.”. Eller tries it every 4th shift in his own zone. His decision-making has a long way to go. He also caused the gorges penalty by turning it over for a break back the other way.

I like the kid too but – as some looters suggest – he’s not close to a #1 and gas a ton to learn. Very raw.

        • krob1000 says:

He is very raw….he didn;t evenplay junior over here but I like that he actually has poise in our end….he will learn that those plays are musts….and I think he is doing that….the turnovers at the other blueline are what bothers me….they were stating to disappear and become very infrequent but tonight there were a couple glaring ones. I am more frustrated with the lack of a real identity….Kaberle ws a magician for a few minutes in the middle of the third…he made about 5 great plays in a 3 or 4 minute span…the abs of any other year would have scored 2 or 3 times….this bucnh is confused….too many mix and matches right now…Kaberle would be incredible in Detroit…and would have been here two years ago or more…..the team is changing to a dump/chase and cycle team and it is making Kaberle, Pleks, some extent DD and Eller and AK less effective than I believe they could be. There is a clear identity change happening and I have been afraid to say it before but I think they just may consider moving Pleks of this is the direction they are headed….very confused watching a line of PLeks, Gomez and Bourque…..

  5. novahab says:

Going to tell the truth right now. If the Montreal Canadiens players are not willing and if management is not willing to take the needle or the HGH pills they will never win. This league is dirty, the Sabres were dirty tonite and so are the Pens. Washington is sucking because they know they can take it for ever. Just like the Chinese swim team. One week they’re fishing the swimers out from drowning. Six month later they are the best swim team in the world. Buffalo certainly looked like the best swim team in world, really really fast.

  6. alfieturcotte says:

Does anyone have a live link to Antichambre?

  7. HabFanSince72 says:

Hey folks – this is GOOD news. We’re now up to 5th, and Anaheim are catchable.

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

  8. manu07 says:

I agree. Pleks needs to go. I thought Cammi was dragging him down but I guess not. He’s just another bum.

    • SmartDog says:

C’mon. Pleks is playing with Gomez on his wing for cryin out loud. And yeah, even without that he’s not having a good year offensively – something’s wrong – but this year is messed up. You can’t throw out his play from the last two years and pretend it didn’t happen.

Listen to the Smart Dog. He knows his poop!

    • smiler2729 says:

      Trade the bum, finally lol

Jack Edwards is a clam, Bruins are pukes.

    • krob1000 says:

That is the most mismatched line in recent memory….Pleks is a creative passer, bourque is a straight line guy and Gomez …well…nothing needs to be said there…that is one weird ass line to put together

  9. riddler says:

Goalies=too much credit when they win and too much blame when they lose.
Price is probally the most attractive player we have.
    Gutsy move?
    Kinda like moving Halak.
    DO IT!

  10. manu07 says:

PG needs to sell ASAP. If we wait until deadline day to make moves we are going to get f***ed!

  11. alfieturcotte says:

Where is Markov? Where is Pleks — who’s contract has become our new Gomez? Why is Kaberle here? Yes, Bourque will really help this team into the playoffs…..

With any luck, this dim GM will actually do ok come the trade deadline as some teams will pay a premium for Moen and Gill.

Time to trade Pleks before what little value he has drains away. His offensive skills were always above average at best and now they are below average.

  12. habs17 says:

    Well that was A Joke

    I support Scott Gomez

  13. Bill says:

I am NOT watching those vulture hacks on L’Antichambre. Enough is enough!!

  14. LL says:

A team that has a horrible PP should never take their goalie out for the extra man.

    Talk about insult to injury.

  15. remi_10069 says:

Weber is the worst player on our team. He thinks he’s good and he stinks. Anyone care to lookup our record with / without him. He’s a total puke and needs to go.

  16. manu07 says:

I hope I wake up tomorrow and see that PG sells half the Habs.

  17. twilighthours says:

    I’m ******* ***ed tonight.

Diaz? Really? He is somehow better than weber? I still don’t see what the rest of you koolaid folks see in Diaz. He was awful tonight.

  18. AliHaba says:

Well Pierre, you know that big deal that you’ve been holding out on? Time to pull the trigger now.

    • powdered toastmann says:

Before anyone pulls any triggers we need to first purge this team of the authors of this mess. (management starting with the Goat, Gainey etc). Anyone connected needs to go.

I’m officially a putz on board with H H’s putsch.

  19. Adidess says:

Feels like the guys don’t even believe in their own chances at this point. Fans can be delusional. Players know.
I am officially for the fire sale. Start it now. No need to wait until the deadline!

  20. helluva habs fan says:

So we’re 6 on 5, and yet there’s 1 Canadien battling 2 Sabres on the boards. Sabres win the puck battle and we give them 2 chances at the empty net. Do they have any pride at all? What happened to fighting till the end?

  21. SlovakHab says:

the problem is that our players play so poorly their value is diminishing by the minute

  22. Habfan10912 says:

Clean this mess up please. I don’t want to see Gill or Gomez anymore. Play Weber the rest of the way. Habs need to rebuild the defense and find some more forwards who don’t take shifts off.

  23. HardHabits says:

    Are we tanking yet?

  24. sgmcfarlane says:

    Two words:

    Gauthier: sell.

  25. kmachabs27 says:

If you guys think your gunna get something big packaging Weber, kostitsyn, moen, gill and picks your effin dreaming, we overate these guys way to much.

  26. Muckbringer says:

this was a big opportunity to gain 2.

if i were carey i would say bugger this.

  27. slychard says:

There goes ANY hope for playoffs.

    Kiss my hAbSS!!!

  28. twilighthours says:

So, in the latest must-win game, Montreal lays an egg. Absolutely pathetic effort. That empty net goal was embarrassing. That winger should never beat the whole team down the ice like that. Just the final embarrassment to an embarrassing game.

When are you “we can still make the playoffs” people going to wake the **** up and realize that this team sucks and has no business even being discussed for a playoff spot? And you’re still optimistic? Maybe even happy?

Pathetic. If you’re not mad after that game, you’re blind or have no emotion.

  29. Habbu says:

Bye bye half the team in red

  30. manu07 says:

    Sell, sell and sell.

  31. Marc10 says:

Fair result. Buffalo is a better team. And now we can safely sell off.

    It is over.

  32. habs-fan-84 says:

lol can’t believe we’re spending 5 mil on Plex, no offense but he’s highly overrated.

  33. RockinRey says:

Clean House! Tired of this *&^%!

  34. db says:

Gotta target ufa dmen, with a goalie like price it should be an easy sell. I hope..

  35. riddler says:

Price will have $$in his bank to stay in Montreal .

  36. Bill says:

Wow, if the Habs are gonna make the playoffs, they better pull their socks up … HAHAHAHA sorry, just trying to say that with a straight face 🙂

    Gorges pissed.

    Don’t let the wultures getcha.

  38. smiler2729 says:

Bye Bye 2011-12 season. Bye Bye Pierre Gauthier.

Jack Edwards is a clam, Bruins are pukes.

  39. Rob D says:

    Back to reality…suckitude..

Can’t wait for the draft though..

  40. goat_007 says:

I love gorges but hes not a last minute we need offense type defenseman to have on the ice.

  41. Did they all just watch a shot go wide of the empty net and then get beaten to the rebound off the boards? What the hell?

  42. RockinRey says:

Complacent at the end there. That is it. Any dreams of the playoffs are futile.

They cant do anything with one line. Grease the skids and start unloading some of the dead wood!!!!

  43. Da Hema says:

Does anyone have a rational explanation for how this team thumped Detroit?

  44. JasonM says:

Loads of passengers on that last shift. Everyone admiring the dump in then admiring the clear.

  45. Habfan10912 says:

That play showed you what this team is about.

  46. ffenliv says:

How do you let a guy just wander in like that and get a gift goal.

I was up and down, sort of in and out on their chances. I’m now firmly in the ‘play out the season, and hope for a decent pick’ crowd.

  47. Lizardking89 says:

Unreal what a crappy team this is

  48. JohnBellyful says:

Look on the bright side. Habs only play lousy against teams below them. Are there any left?

    • Les Canayens says:

Is there anyway to force every opposing team to wear either the Rangers or the Red Wings jerseys?

❝ I can’t really hear what Jeremy says, because I’ve got my two Stanley Cup rings plugging my ears.❞

      • JohnBellyful says:

Hypnosis! That’s the trick! Before every game the Habs are placed in a trance and given a post-hypnotic order to look upon the other team as either the Rangers or Wings. After a while they might begin to wonder why they’re playing the same two teams all the time, but as long as they’re winning …

  49. Propwash says:

    Don’t let the wultures getcha.

  50. HardHabits says:

If Nicolas Cage’s career was an NHL team, he’d have a lottery pick every year.

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

  57. HNS says:

This team is shart. They’ll be golfing in no time.

  58. Habbu says:

    Without Carey………it’s really scarey…

  59. RockinRey says:

If the Habs are going to miss the playoffs the only satisfaction i can take is that the Leafs suck even worse. They lost to PIt 5-4 in overtime.

  60. HardHabits says:

    Triple shift Gomez. He’s due!!!!

  61. riddler says:

Where was that push 40 minutes ago?

  62. PrimeTime says:

    Boone – the anti-homer!

  63. RockinRey says:

DD’s compete level blows aways Gomez and even Pleks at this point. No quit in him. Nice to see…….

  64. Old Bald Bird says:

Unfortunately, we’re a one line team tonight.

  65. Mondou6 says:

Miracle = Scoring more than 1 goal in a game

  66. Habbu says:

Wonder if Markov’s knee will allow him to golf this spring?

  67. realplumpcherry says:

Tonight may be the night the Habs fall to far out of a playoff spot. But they got that fire atm.

  69. English is not a Crime says:

Outshot 40-17 so far and now trailing 2-1…. when do we all blame Price and say he was on his knees too early or let in a softie that killed us? That’s what a hockey expert would take from this game right?

  70. riddler says:

I love Maxpack. But that must have been his fourth blind pass to the slot tonight.
