My appologies to any surviving Gomites but he again proved what a useless tool he is and yet he plays, destroying Pleks and the power play. Just what was he doing on the ice at the end of the game? Makng sure we tank I assume.
And Gil? Don’t get me started. The L’antichambre crew were splitting their sides describing the play of Gil and Gomer and for those who don’t understand le francais it was trully hilarious. The tears were deserved.
They did think PK played a good game and so did anyone with a big flat screen. Sean Avery? You have to be kidding Spatts. La Deuce won’t be with the team next year. PK will.
PK just wasn’t willing to take the rap for Gomer’s stupidity but as a rookie I guess that’s what is expected. Take one for the Gomer and let the Deuce ream you at the same time? Not when you have PK’s talent collection.

Apparently for the habs, having to score one goal in a year, is not a prerequisite for being a top 6 forward in the NHL. So I wonder what Geoff Molson’s ratings are for the worst 5 in the NHL? I wonder if that would include the habs…..
Did you here PG the other night when they traded Camalleri. He says the Canadians need bigger players because most goals are scored in close to the goallie not from shots from the perimeter. Wow wat every fan knew for the last 3 years , he just realised. I have real confidence in this guy.

As a member of the tank brigade, I wish Gauthier is willing to die on his sword with honour. He would leave with dignity if he made the appropriate moves and gave his successor something to work with. I hope he can do it but alas I anticipate a middling effort at best since he expects to remain GM. I hope trading Moen, Gill, Kostitsyn or whatever results in another 1st round pick or else promising top talent from other teams. While I love Eller and DD, we don’t have a 1st line center. Please management, whomever you will be, make that happen. And Scott Gomez – you still have NHL legs no doubt, but otherwise now have AHL skills. I actually feel sorry for you in spite of your millions, but you need to go away.
Nothing good has come from any of the moves PG has made this season. There is more then one cancer in that room for sure.
I thought standing by Emelin was a big move. Signing Cole was a great move. The others I wonder, Eller is a hot/cold player in my opinion who still has to shine one day when we finally do get real Top 6 forwards…..
Random thoughts…1. What is the matter with Pleks? 2. Why play Weber..ever. 3. Why has P.K. become uncoachable? Stop with the feet, already..4. Why are some coaches so stunned that they pull the goalie when their team is NOT in control of the puck? When they scored the empty-netter, there were STILL 51 seconds left. The percentage on that tactic is about the same as winning the lotto.
And one more thing. When the Leafs got a penalty late in the 3rd tonight, it was their first penalty in 3 GAMES!!!!! 17 minors in the month of January in total….Fix is in boys..CBC needs them in the playoffs so idiot Cherry can cheer for “his” Leafs .
This season as been a disaster. Start fresh next season. I have officially jumped on the tank wagon.
I think the real inconsistent player in this game is AK46. He’s not really producing. Expect Gauthier to do another blockbuster deal come 02/27/2012. I’m having a feeling AK next on the shopping block.

True signs of a bad team:
Beat the first place team in the league. Show up because they are afraid of being embrarassed by a far superior team. The better team has an off night because they take the botton feeder team too lightly. Results, a surprise win, that creates the illusion that there is hope.
Lose to teams behind them in the standings. True colours show through. Make a team that is reeling out of control, look like the SC champs. Totally dominated!
This is now officially a gong show. There is a core of guys, we all know who they are, that will be needed going forward. The rest, we all know who they are, must be moved asap, for prospects and draft choices.
If PG/BG/Molson try to save this season, then we are officially…I can’t bring myself to say it….that effing team we have “laffed” at for years.

The inconsistency that the Canadiens did this evening is this: “They ran out of gas after 20 mins.”
If they’re going to play like this style, then we should forget this notion that our Habs will win one game at a time. Rather, they should be asking themselves how to be consitent and keep their stamina for the next 40 minutes.
If only RC could copy Peter Laviolette’s opening speech to really wake up the Habs, he should say the same thing like: “We are not a conservative team, we are a ‘let’s fuckin’ giddy yup and go’ type of team.”
The Canadiens really need to learn not to stop and just press the acceleration pedal and move…

There are some good assets on this team.
We should trade Kaberle for Wizniewski. He played well here, and getting out of Columbus practically revives anyone’s career. And we made up the difference in salary quite easily already. Plus, he played WELL here, so better the devil you know, than the devil you dont.

I think my PVR is really looking out for my emotional well-being. I paused the game at 1-1 in the 2nd while I got some work done. Suddenly, and for no reason I can determine, the frozen-paused screen skipped to the post-game radio feed. Checking the score on the internet, I realized my PVR is not an inanimate object incapable of rational thought, but rather a very patient and sentient robot that really cares about me. Thanks, PVR. Now go find me something with boobies in it.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. The guys knew they had to win, and didnt, so clearly there is some serious flaw, such as players who dont want to win (or dont wanna do what it takes), or simply a poorly constructed team that simply doesnt have the horses. Either way, its not good enough and it wont improve without change.
Here’s a scary thought: Do you think some — most? — of the Habs read HIO and have bought into this whole tanking philosophy? And they’re letting their pride ‘take the bullet’ for the good of the team to improve the team’s fortunes in the long run?

None of them do, but they should! Frankly, i believe in knowing too much, as opposed to reading nothing and being blissfully unaware. Maybe it would actually give them some direction, albeit potentially confuse them too with the multitude of opinions. But a little transparency never hurt anyone. They shouldnt have hurt feelings, they are celebrities, people dont like them sometimes, deal with it, its part of the profession you chose.

You know….we are not avery smart team offensively anymore…..we have traded or let all of our offesnive IQ leave. We have now a mix and match of diff’t skill sets but the IQ in the ozone is very limited. You have PLkes, Desharnais, Eller and Andrei…on the point you have Kaberle, Diaz, Subban and maybe Weber….everyone else has diff’t skills they offer but Patches and Cole are best at flying the wings but I think DD would be better off with just one of them and another more talented give and go guy…I know they are our best line right now but we are in a weird spot right now…all of our winger with the exception of Ak are straight crash and bang guys or drive wide guys…we either score off the cycle or on occasion generate a chance when the Cole or Patches creates something with their speed….but neither has the poise to heisitate or make a pass…I am not sure I have ever seen either hit a trailer….and it is often there because their outside speed is must be respected.
PG seems like he is not to popular with the other GM’s. This can’t help him AT ALL during the sell period. We are done for years to come!

When the one player who sticks his nose in all night is Gomez, you know you have a team of soft soft players. The Sedins have more fight than this group.
Ferg true but I think there is a rule about fighting in the 3rd period under 5 minutes to go. If you fight in that five minute period I think there is a heavy fine or something like that. Correct me please if I’m wrong.

That’s not the number of goals that Gomez has scored, we all know he has yet to score a goal this season. The whole team has scored but one goal while Gomez has been on the ice for nearly a full hour of power play time.
I don’t know what bothers me more; that Gomez was on the PowerPlay at all, OR the fact that he was on the ice for 1 minute and 42 seconds of the last 4 minutes in the game, when we desperately needed to score.
Kostitsyn with 11 goals this season and Eller with 10 did not get any power play time at all. Even stranger was that AK did not get on the ice at all during the last 4 minutes of the game.
I don`t think we are getting our money’s worth from Cunneyworth.

If you are trying to sign him long term, it gives him more leverage for a bigger deal.
If you are trying to sign him long term, you risk his being injured, especially on this team where he has 0 protection.
He will probably get more wins, and thus a worse draft pick.
Perhaps management are trying to save their jobs or shopping him (doubtful) , but it makes no sense.
I only saw the third period, but I was pretty unimpressed. That last goal was brutal!The only reservation I have about blowing up this team is that Gauthier would still be one making decisions.

Even Scott Bowman couldn’t do anything with this group of slugs. Most of us understand that, which is why criticising Cunneyworth is, well, unsportsmanlike.
Is that for real? I would beg to differ, I can almost guarantee Scotty Bowman could do better. He could probably also pick better people in the shootout.
I am not suggesting Cunneyworth should be nominated for the Jack Adams Award. Gauthier fires Jacques Martin and promotes Cunneyworth. Shortly thereafter, the owner of the team informs the world Cunneyworth’s days are numbered in Montreal — no matter what he does. So if you are a player on this team, do you give a sh*t what Cunneyworth says or does? If you wish to attack people, how about aiming your weapon where it really should be aimed — to this organisation’s lousy general manager and owner.
I have said from the very beginning PG should be fired. You still have to watch the game though, if you think he is doing a good job then thats your opinion, I wouldnt bundle everyone else into it. I don’t think he is doing a very good job at all, but for some reason no one calls it. How did you phrase it its “unsportsmanlike” and most of us know, well I’m sorry I didnt get the memo that told me to comment on PG and GM, because thats what everyone else on this site is doing. Players sucked, and so did the coaching.
If you wish to critique Cunneyworth, then you are perfectly free to do so. My view is that he has been placed in a no-win situation, so I have some sympathy for him. His own bosses have confirmed he will be gone next year, and yet must coach a group of players who are largely indifferent about the team’s performance. In other words, his authority was stripped away from him within days of taking the position. At any rate, it’s not like he has a surfeit of talent to throw on the ice to score goals like Bowman did with Lafleur, Shutt, and Lemaire. Going after Cunneyworth now is like kicking a guy when he’s down — unsportsmanlike.
Ya an Martin was the problem. Morons, he atleast would of had this team of individuals hovering around 500, Cunney doesnt stand a chance.
