P.K. is back.
So is David Desharnais, who scored twice.
And much-maligned Lars Eller, who had a goal and two assists.
It was a very good afternoon at the Bell Centre.
Alex Galchenyuk was First Star.
Eller got robbed, Star-wise.
The Canadiens blew this open by scoring on the three of their first four shots in the second period … against one of the best goaltenders in the NHL.
After Brendan Gallagher bagged his third on a lovely exchange with fellow rookie Alex Galchenyuk, Desharnais and Eller scored their first of the season.
Bourque and DD added goals in the third period.
Thomas Vanek spoiled Carey Price’s shutout bid with a shorthanded goal when it was 5-0 and the Canadiens were coasting.
Eller played his best game of the season
Chucky had two assists and was 9-2 on draws..
P.K. played 18:01 in all situations. He was as strong in the third period as the first.
Brandon Prust had another fight and pounded out a decision over Steve Ott.

Quote from a Sabre’s blog website, so satisfying
“Things I Would Have Rather Done Than Watched This Game
- Listened to Rebecca Black’s “Friday” on repeat for two hours.
- Talked to a New Englander about why Boston sports teams get no respect.
- Watch all nine seasons of Two And A Half Men on DVD.
- Played two hours of Penn & Teller’s Desert Bus.
- Watched the replay of the Sabres Game 7 loss to Carolina in the 2006 playoffs while getting punched repeatedly in the face by Doug Janik.
- Cleaned the men’s room toilets at my local neighborhood Arby’s.
- Anything else.”
I like that I can hear the classic HNIC song on RDS. And yet they can’t on CBC. Let them talk down to MTL.
Always just your quality by the quality of your critics.
Is Boone going to write an “About This Afternoon?”
was at the game and it was a good one crowd into it and the habs delivered. AG27 is bigger than I thought , the habs a re playing it simple , get the puck out and to the net
Great to see the Norse Gods finally had a chat with Lars and got his Viking Juices flowing!
As bad as the Habs looked vs Ottawa, they looked just as good against Buffalo.
I wonder what team will show up tomorrow?
This is Plalk at is best we finally have 4 line amazing ,the rookie scoring race could be very interesting
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves re: Eller…I understand he played a pretty good game today, but 1 game doesn’t make him a real impact player…I am not ready to give him Prust’s spot as he does more for those kids than you think…He gives Gallagher the edge to go to the net hard..Prust told him to do what he wants out there, he has his back…Prust’s compliment on that line has enabled the kids to play up to their potential..I like Prust right where he is…
I would like to see more play like today’s from Eller before him taking someone else place in the line up..Especially a guy who lays it all out there for us every game like Prust..
Pacioretty is making his return tomorrow and I am glad I am not Therrien because IDK what the heck he is gonna do about the line up/ice time..

Yes, I’m a Hab fan..Wanna fight about it?
He’s the closest thing to Chris Nilan they’ve had in a long time.
Damn how far CBC has fallen
The Habs on Hockey night in Canada, it is like a train wreck but being such, sometimes i want to see that wreck just to see it. i cant believe how far CBC has fallen. TSN and more especially Sportsnet also do not have any feel or the need to go in depth with proper analysis for anything Habs related as well.
repost much?
Ok! Since it is being said.. I am ‘kinda’ ready to eat crow.
Ready to eat crow re Therrien… I can’t believe the difference between what a difference the coaching seems to have made.
I think this is gonna be a REAL BIG CROW I’m gonna have to eat. Therrien’s coaching ( as I said posted before I cant judge yet re line combos etc) but style.. WOW!
Edit: Aint being two-faced re the other stuff. I still stand by my views on them.
Ready to eat crow re Bourque.. just morsels though.
Plekanec got a crow ready too.. I think this is gonna be a BIG one too… but still a crow in the making now.
It’s really weird. I feel like we’re going to need crows the size of Great Auks around here soon.
Therrien looks very good, as does Bergevin. The freefall last year was at all levels. I really did not think this team could be this good. I hoped Gallagher would do what he’s doing, but I thought he was too small.
And Price? Wow.
Don’t get me going on Gallagher. I think I was there saying this guy is gonna be good when was pooping his diapers. Seriously though I cant get over the difference in style on the ice from the last two years. I mean the team looks like they have talent.
I Know your heart bleeds Hab red Trini. You will enjoy the crow because of it bud. CHeers.

Not just MT the staff as well ,they had Daignaut the defence coach on antichambre and the guy is just well verse in the team concept and approach just a very good interview
I wish more would be man enough to admit they were wrong. I don’t think there are enough crows in the world to feed all the posters that were bashing Markov, but I haven’t as much as a “maybe I was wrong”.
“They don’t hang Conference Championship Banners from the rafters here”
Carey Price
Here you go.
you’re welcome
I was pessimist when it came to MT as well and I have been pleasantly surprised. He has done a good job so far and letting the kids play is really going well. old regime wouldn’t have done that.
I knew from watching bourque play in the past last year was just a fluke and I am still a fan of his
“Keep your stick on the Ice”
Nice to see MT doing the little things. Like putting players back on the ice after they score..never saw that with general martin last year. It’s only early but I sense players are more organized and the attacking system is more suited to the players on the roster.
Bergevin is really coming across as professional manager. seems to know exactly what he wants with the team1 first mentality.
Well, I am glad Bourque is playing like he can and did in Calgary and doing it on his off wing.
Everyone was talking about buying him out…..I don’t think so. His contract looks like a bargain
“Keep your stick on the Ice”
I agree Bill and athanor.
When Pacioretty is back, is it time to move Prust to the fourth line and play Eller on a wing with the kids?
I would.
The anti-DD crowd will say otherwise, but I wouldn’t mess with that line. And Pleks has been great with Bourque and Gionta.
Much as I don’t mind Prust babysitting the kids, I bet Eller could really make some magic with those two guys.
Armstrong to the press box obviously. He hasn’t been bad. Just hasn’t been that good.
Full Breezer 4 Life
Couldn’t agree more Bill, those guys would really compliment each other.
All of a sudden the Habs are stacked at forward, lol. What a difference those kids made. Also having a healthy Gionta is gold, and Prust plays valuable minutes.
Full Breezer 4 Life
Completely agree. I´d also like to see Eller with Pacioretty and Cole but you can´t play Desharnais with the kids.
7 D for tomorrow is a good idea .. so yes a forward must sit and Colby would be the obvious.
leave Prust where he is. they’re going good and Prust is a big reason why.
Remember that hit Lucic made on Miller last year? No penalty? What would have been the consequence to another team for the same action?
Is it me or did Bob Cole mistake Gallagher for Subban on a rush near the end?
Yep. Way to go Bob. Doin’ a bang up job.
Embarrassing. Hang em up Bob !

i don’t know why they keep comparing Carey Price to God………i mean he’s good, but he’s no Carey Price.
That is the way to play. Roll 4 lines and hustle your butt off. LOL
Lars Eller deserved to be first star. See how good he can be with ice time. Now give him a shot at centre where he is really good.
Skate,skate,skate.
Antichambre speculating Pacioretty might play tomorrow (Bergeron). I know he’s Wolverine but would rather hold him out until next game.

Oh I will cheer for the leafs..no problem..its when the Bruins and Sens play each other..that is a real dilema
Cheer for leaves means you are a traitor, big time.

Gotta say Dude, I hate the Gooiuns more, ever so marginally more.
Sorry mate but Habs fans hate one team above all others. Hint – they wear diarreha yellow and brown.

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.
I’m cheering for food poisoning.
see that nice theatric on PK’s bottom lip…take a hike Gary Gally you friggen knob
I just hope les boys have some left in the tank for a little revenge on the Sens tomorrow.
“They don’t hang Conference Championship Banners from the rafters here”

Geez, I wish I could cheer for the Leafs over the Bruins but I can’t. It’s impossible.
You can’t be both a Habs and a Leafs fan
Exactly.
Cheering for the Leafs to beat Boston doesn’t make you a Leafs fan. It makes you some who dislikes the Bruins even more than you dislike the Leafs.
Note Chuck’s comment at 5:02
I wouldn’t mind the Leafs getting points so that their draft pick is higher. And besides, it’s against the Bruins.
Man, what a pass that was by Plekanec on Bourque’s second goal! Beauty!
——————————————
Long signatures are annoying
Hope Bruins crash and burn tonite… At least Toronto is a Canadian team…
Great game all round. So many monkeys off the back today. DD, Eller, Subbiedoo, Bourque.
Lol at the crowd and everyone of us who held our breath when Chucky went on that break away. That would of been a killer goal!
Well, I guess now I’ve got to figure out who I’m going to cheer against more in the prime time game.

Being a Hab fan is like buying real estate: only over the long-haul will you appreciate the true value of your investment.
With that game satisfactorily ended, think I’ll watch the Boston-Toronto game tonight … someone’s gonna lose, and I’ll love it.
Can’t decide who I’d rather see lose though: the Bruins, because I hate them? Or the Leafs, because I hate their fans and media lackeys?
Full Breezer 4 Life
Gonna be a fight filled game I think. Boston is gonna try and re-establish the bully image.
I always vote for the bruins to crash and burn.

an enjoyable game to watch, great effort by all..
now I can’t wait till tomorrow, where there is some unfinished business.

The N.A.G. effect remains the only path to success…
In PRUST we TRUST
My wife suggests a team victory choreography to replace the 3xL5.
they do that in Switzerland ….
I get the criticism of PK but I’d rather have him on our team.
Ya, why didn’t Dd, Eller or Plecky get a star?
I can’t believe I dislike a team more than the Maple Grief but I hope they beat the Bawling Bruins this weekend.
Bob Cole i agree need to retire. But this guy is a class act. I respect him. I would never make fun of the old guys of hockey. Just the way i am. I love how they still remember the old players of habs at games at the bell center. Go habs Go..
Its the whole mob sans Friedman!
Cole, Galley and the crainial flatulence of PJ Stock!(saw that on twitter)
Good thing Friedman gives a heads up on twitter warning what is to come!
CBC contract up soon good riddance!

Snr Boone no mention of Gionta and Borques two goals?

No Freakin get into the opposition zone and cycle cycle… Oh Man I love it.
Triple-Low-Five was really banned. I thought MT was just joking around.
And Stock refers to PK as PJ
…..No that’s not you out there Stock but your fantasies are appropriate today!
“If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.” (anon)
Wow team really seems tight this year hope it remains the same throughout the year, the only way to win is this day and age,
Too bad, French Canadien fans just don’t like DD.
So P.K. played! The team won! And the world is still spinning on its axis. Phew!
John Scott is a very talented winger.
Therrien is a terrible coach, the players will never respond to his approach.
–Go Habs Go!–
WOW what a blow out. Red light Millar would not even come out and start the 3rd. You gotta love the play of the habs. And you got to love the coaching of MT. Go habs Go.
I would have given stars to DD and Eller and save one for Price for tomorrow, but hey the majority can’t be wrong.
——————————————
Long signatures are annoying
Sure they can. I was expecting Eller to get first star, with DD second and maybe Chucky third, though I can’t complain about Bourque’s getting one.
…BUT !!! …missin’ PK’s Carey’s low 5
I’m a little annoyed with this ban. I get the team first attitude, and the low five was only between Price and Subban. But it added flair and attitude to the team.
My preference – instead of banning it. Expand it to the entire team – make this fun thing, which at least this fan likes, a team wide show. You keep the team-first mentality – which I agree with – and the fun and flair which are the Habs.
Chris,
whatdya feeding the kids on the leftcoast?
Gallager looks like hes playing at home!

Gary Gally says “not a very good Buffalo team tody but you’ve got to give some credit to Montreal?? Really?? WTF????
Agree with Stormin and several posters today… It’s sad to hear Bob Cole calling these games with a dementia flare… So many great years and memories, HNIC needs to do something… Can Gallagher and Subban really be confused for each other?……….
Sorry to be to harsh but it is sad to let him continue to butcher games, and destroy his legacy
No star for DD! The fans love Chucky …
Full Breezer 4 Life
There will be a triple low-five in the locker room…
lol
not sure with Therrien….
there is that nobot again …
If PK’s shot gets through and is on net during the PP it’s an instant scoring chance. And with Markov, who can set up anyone on the ice at anytime, our PP is lethal.
Nice to see Eller, Bork and DD playing well. If they play well, our third line keeps working hard, and Pleks line playing so responsible. We’re a tough team to play against.
…Martin, especially, frustrated Us, trying to force square pegs into round holes
…despite My obvious reservations of Therrien as a ‘personality, I give high props for using the talent We have appropriate to Their talent
Lol, I said the exact same words out on my deck 30 minutes ago. It’s so true.
Mr. Cole, how can you possibly mistake gallagher for subban ??????

i don’t know why they keep comparing Carey Price to God………i mean he’s good, but he’s no Carey Price.
Bob Cole continues to make mistakes until the bitter end
I don’t care what anyone says. Bob Cole was one of the best in his day. Give the old guy a break. Anybody on here making fun of Cole is a fucking punk if you ask me. This guy is a pioneer of hockey. Go habs Go.
You kiss Don Cherry with that mouth?

So…. if DD is actually back… and man that was some funk… and Eller plays like he did today…
What happens when Pacs comes back next week. Eller centers the kids and Prust to the 4th line with penalty kill duties and white, kaberle and webber in the press box?
Nice problem to have, eh.

Ka is a wheel.
For Your Life
I like that line, Prust is protecting the two kids.
I can see Eller replacing Desharnais IF he can show he has the hockey IQ to center a top two line.
That is because Gary Gally IS an idiot..he should stick to the Sens..and his lovefest with them
PK back, DD and Eller rolling now, the indestructible man only days from returning… This is a dangerous hockey team.
Vanek needs more points
Price!!!!!
Good job Lars. That’s how you should always play. 1st star of the game.
What a sportsman-like check
7 – 0 if you count Diaz’s goal
You gotta love Suban with that rocket of a shot. DD 2goals today. That little basterd is making people eat there words today. Go habs Go….
Even with this score the na na na song makes me nervous with more than a minute to play
I love that after taking a bad loss last game, we come right back and bend the Sabres over a log, and no one can hear them scream because of the fans’ roaring approval!
Good confidence builder for DD.
I don’t know: I like having the stakes raised a little
No Injuries, please
This is all kinds of fun, but I still hate these penalty-filled games. Every single one this year it feels like.
