I would have given anything to be a reporter to ask Torts if that was a better game.

    • Danno says:

I would have loved to have been there when TortElvis said:

“I’ve seem teams that sucked. But we’re the suckiest team that ever sucked.”

rangers are staying overnight in montreal due to weather – so i guess torts will get his pinkslip when they land in ny tomorrow

Go Habs go! a delight to stay awake to watch the Canadiens nowadays. Makes me look even more forward for my trip to Montreal next season. Bleu Blanc Rouge

Fantastic! So great to hear from European Canadiens fans. Mr. N., I’m guessing you are Norwegian (and not a Canadian searching for warmer weather in Fredrikstad), and perhaps in future posts, you could entertain us by telling how you became a fan of Les Canadiens, Rocket Richard, and Alexei Emelin.

  4. HardHabits says:

When was the last time the Habs had an impact player just drafted, that made the team in his first year?

  5. Danno says:

    It’s official.

    Rangers are our bitches

  6. Chris says:

It is not at all clear to me why Eller and Prust aren’t getting assists on the Cole goal, at least so far.

I’ve seen assists given for a lot less.

Anyways, nice game. Eller really had a lot of confidence tonight. The defence was solid.

That was not a good hit by Pacioretty. He could be looking at an interview, although I suspect it would only be a game if anything because of the way that McDonagh turned into the boards.

    • habsfan0 says:

Eller might turn out to be the best(only)good thing The Goat did.

    • HardHabits says:

I thought Prust passed it to Cole also but after watching the replay it was Gilroy that passed it to him in an ill advised clearing attempt thus negating Eller’s assist. Prust never touched the puck.

    • Danno says:

Defiinitely a pay back hit with intention. But the league seems to like that kind of thing. Stay tuned…

i am baffled by that too…..does the home building have anything to do with it?makes you wonder….it is sad that I think of that but stranger things have happened in a place where you can’t have “pasta” on your menu
just noticed…17 of top 30 scorers in nhl are top 5 overall picks….both kids have already abandoned Subban and adopted Galchenyuk as the new favorite. Subban is still up there followed closely by Price…but they have obviously picked up on my enthusiasm for Galchenyuk

      • Danno says:

Competition is good. Subban is actually very under rated by many and is among the extremely valuable players we cannot do without.

Great win tonight…2nd place overall! Everyone played well tonight.

Suk on that leafs fans! Please Habs, win Wednesday, living in Toronto and having friends being laff fans, I took a beatin last game and the one before that.

As for the Patches hit, I watched it a few times on dvr, Mcdonaugh put himself in a bad position almost turning into the boards, but a close one. Oh well, Patches should get free pass on 10 of those (9 on Boston players specifically)

  8. otter649 says:

McDonagh (sp) was concussed by Pacs hit so Torts comment about how high did Pacs jump may lead to a hearing & possible suspension and Pacs has been suspended in the past (Letang Hit)……

    • HabinBurlington says:

      I really hope not.

      • 123456 says:

torts is a tard. he asked how high patches jumped – umm how about he did not jump. it was from behind but mcd turned…..

thats one problem with hockey today – you can just turn and you are not supposed to be hit – stand up and take the hit like a man.

i think a phone call and then no suspention

        • LeGrosBill says:

Regardless of what Tortorella is, Pacioretty jumped about a foot, the width of the yellow stripe at the bottom of the boards and McDonagh was turned, his face to the glass the whole time.

  9. HAB - Have A Beer says:

A team effort again. But the 3rd line, Cole Gally, Eller Keep them together. Amazing, your 3rd line winning the game. WOW, you don’t see that too often.

Gotta say it again. Great game Guy’s ….

  10. Habifax says:

I give torts two weeks without a turnaround.

  11. The Juice says:

Lucky for Torts he only had to watch one bad team tonight. Gotta love karma ;)

  12. Habfan10912 says:

Torts move benching Gaborik tonight resembeled the old Soviet Union Coach Viktor Tikhonov when he benched Tretiak. It was a panic move that the team responded negatively to. When you lose your best players you lose the room. Torts is in trouble.

  13. habsfan0 says:

7 out of 8 points this week(Should have been 8/8 except for a meltdown against the Isles,of all teams.) Schedule this week will be tough and will tell us a lot about this team.

  14. Lafleurguy says:

Tortorella sarcastically asked the reporters how high Pacioretty jumped to make the hit. Patches was suspended 3 games last season for an open ice hit to the head on Kris Letang.

“May you live in interesting times.”

  15. Habbu says:

Pacifico rules! But man life without the Internet is brutal down here. Oh wait here comes Wednesday’s Scottie’s results……

  16. HabinBurlington says:

Joe Thornton landed a massive punch on Jamie Benn in their scrap today. Yikes talk about a big payroll fight.

  17. Danno says:

    Attention Anti CHambre.

Please have Ryan White the scrappy dog on for your next show. Thanks! Merci beaucoup!

  18. JohnBellyful says:

Three more gems from Cole tonight:

Play stops because Bickell is being penalized for high-sticking Gallagher but Cole thinks it’s because Gallagher batted the puck with a high stick, even though the camera shows the Ranger headed to the penalty box …

Girardi blocks the puck and lies on the ice writhing in pain in plain sight but play continues until puck clears the zone, prompting referee to blow the whistle. Cole wonders what happened behind the play ….

Eller scores, ref blows whistle and signals goal. Cole says the Habs are being called for icing …
(Okay, that last one I made up.)

  19. habsfan0 says:

The Sens are hot,4 in a row.
    Game Monday won’t be easy.
Maybe Budaj to get the start, avenging previous loss in Ottawa, save Price for Laffs.

  20. AlexTheNextOne says:

What is this about Giraldi getting a puck right in the ankle (as my dad described to me on the phone)? He made it sound horrible, said it looked like he busted it right up.

  21. habsfaninboston says:

Torts questioning Patches hit on McDonough.

  22. Rugger says:

Don’t look now (oh go ahead and look it feels great) but the Habs are currently 2nd in the League!

  23. LeGrosBill says:

Good interview with Gio on Antichambre, the top 9 forwards can really interchange well due to buying into the system and work ethic.

HIO postgame discussions will suck tonight. Both Desharnais and Eller played well, Price got a shut-out (that traded goalie couldn’t have done any better), Cole scored and PK was used on the 4-on-3, even saw a shift with Markov 5-on-5. Hehe

    • Muckbringer says:

    • Lafleurguy says:

Got spoiled in the 70′s with the perpetual winning. The type of ecstasy a lot of us feel after a regular season win was only felt after the Cup was won. We expected the wins and poor Dryden would get booed if he let in more than two goals. Now ’86 and ’93, what great joy!

…Lindy Ruff a good fit with the Rangers ?

  37. hab fan in leaf jungle says:

Great game for the Habs. Way to go MaxPac for teaching McDonagh to play rough with him and Prust. Ouch!!! What a coach MT is turning out to be. Notice how poorly Hartley is doing in Calgary and he apparently dumped the Habs for the Flames. LOL.

  38. Habifax says:

Toronto will be talking about Roberto again after the last goal

  41. HabinBurlington says:

The ideal scenario this year would be for the Leafs to finish in 9th place with more points than the Atlantic division leader and miss out on playoffs despite having more points than a team in the playoffs. Would make my whole summer here in Ontario! :)

    meh, it’s getting boring

  43. Lafleurguy says:

Islanders owned Sabres 4-0. Good thing we played a poor third period and lost to the Islanders; if this were a seven game winning streak, the mania would be insufferable!

  45. Dr.Rex says:

Don’t wait all night they’ll find a way to turn Laff defeat into sometype of moral victory! Bet on it!

    • Dr.Rex says:

Stock looked really comfortble. Probably pooped his pants after Eller’s last minute dagger.

    • doug19 says:

PJ is a genius compared to Cherry. I had to dial Cherry out,he was showing scraps and glorifying them. You would think this was the point of the game if you did not know better. Someone who never had watched hockey could honestly ask, “why are they wearing skates” I should have known better that was his last last chance to be seen by me. RDS is way better and my french is as close to zip as one can get. At least I may learn a few more words.
