A game that was totally under control heads to a shootout:
What a nightmare season!
DD: BACKHAND SHELF!
• Who’s really coaching the team?
So the Leafs flew direct to Montreal from Chicago, Chez Paree must have done well tonight.
6-0 Peg in the 3rd. Realilly going at it.
The Ka-Ca duo plus Webber?
Throwing gas on a fire?
What is Ladoucer thinking???
Ladouceur is just giving himself reasons to yell at his players. The worse they play, you know…!
Price said he saw Plekanec in middle and tried to hit him with pass. Said he had no leverage to try for a goal. So there you go
I checked my PVR and I believe him. He didn’t appear to be trying a shot, just a pass to the blue line. Maybe not the best decision under the circumstances but in the end, no harm done and he learns a lesson. I was too quick to condemn him earlier.
You have always been quick to condemn the team Punkster. 🙂
Ya, I’m a real Habsbot.
Nono….butbut, it’s all Pricey’s fault…..reasoning has nothing to do with it!!!!
Don’t let the wultures getcha.
I believe him. Would you trust that defense?
Call me, I have a bridge for sale.
Is it over troubled water?
He lives under it.
Full Breezer 4 Life
Over the river Kwai.
Oh, but that may be…(get ready for it)…a bridge too far…
Win or lose these days will not make any difference. The most frustrating things watching this team this year & the last few have been: a) not playing a full 60 & b) too soft in front of our goalies. Opposing teams take liberties with our goalie because they can knowing how soft our defence & forwards are. I hope the new coaching staff coming in next year changes this crap because with the number of games we have blown this year when leading, puts us as one of the top teams in the Eastern conference.
Refereeing sucks ass. A hook any time during the game is a friggin hook that should be called. This game had no business going into OT as Max Pac was hooked not once, not twice but three times during the same play. No wonder a lot of people are losing interest in the NHL.
That 4 minute Gong Show at the end of the game said it all about this team. Not much more needs to be said. Seen it many times this year with slight variations. But this one was of epic proportions…Chase the puck, no physicality, panic, then collapse.
Yeehaw, Tanka mem non, here we come….
Yeah, I think the team really loses it when things start to go south. They really do start chasing the game, and the puck. You have 4 guys looking/going after the 1 guy who has the puck with the D standing around uselessly in front of the net.
Price is partially responsible, but most of the goals have the puck going from one end of the ice to the next and on net because the D aren’t pressuring anyone.
The smell of fear and panic was palpable even mid 3rd period.
You could just see the tie coming!
You used the word “palpable” on HIO … I am pretty sure you are over the age-limit of 12.
Exceeded by many multiples!
The cerebral insight of PJ Stock:
“Le problem est Markov n’a pas jouer un seul game cette annee”
“Louis Leblanc est un kid locale”
Sure bet to see Budaj in net tomorrow…..
You are both right. He’ll be practicing tomorrow for saturday nite.
… at practice?
EDIT: Hahaha, I was WAY too slow!
Hope you do not remortgage your house and place that bet with a sportsbook. Hate to see you lose your house
“They don’t hang Conference Championship Banners from the rafters here”
They still (k)need another 3-4 players who are bigger and nastier. Cluster***k never should have made it to the end of the game without being knocked out.
“Okay everybody take a Valium.” – Rene Levesque
Players like Claude Lemieux ?
Lots of changes needed on this team..too many players on the team that are okay if you are starting out as an expansion team but not for a major franchise like the habs..
Add some dressing room scenes, a touch of blood and voila Goon 2, a love interest too of course.
Imagine if they play this type of chippy, tough game against the Luffas…and win? Sets up a fun filled Saturday night.
May have to buy some extra pogos and Cherry Coke for the weekend.
Do it up old school.
I hope we can have white in our lineup Saturday night, but don’t expect it.
Why won’t he be in the line-up?
No Guts No Glory
I don’t ever feel that a game is totally under control with Price. He is a solid goalie, great puck handler, good legs, but man, does he ever give up soft ones in EACH GAME. Rare are the Halak-esque games that he steals for us.
They don’t call him Mr. Softie for nothing…
They or You?
Ouch Pricebot. You.
Oo! Oooo!!! Could you please call me a Pricebot too? It would totally make may day!
Pricebot. That’s so original. Kind of marries the name Price with the image of a robot. Like Price is some sort of super robotic goalie? Or that someone who likes Price is a robot? Or that someone who doesn’t like Price is a mere mortal?
Pricebot. I’ll have to use that one some time.
The Dude Abides!
K-hab “we’re one player away from a cup”….Wrong again! Of course you’ll deny it,lol
Go smoke another one stoner!! I never said anything about being one player away. Now get your Halak sweater on and light up your Halak pics and tune into the Canucks game .
Thanks for reminding me.
They can use him at the Dairy Queen if their machine ever breaks down.
I wouldn’t call them softies, they were great goals by the Wilds
Great goals? New?
One of them came after a high stick on a Habs player beside the net. No call from the Refs. Goal should have been disallowed.
You my friend know nothing about hockey. Did you watch the f…ing game? Jesus Christ would’ve lost the game in regulation. Don’t blame Price & follow your Halak to St Louis.
An English major from Windsor…….Anyone who lives in Windsor surely has 1/2 a brain…..The day Price takes us to the Promised Land, I will walk to Windsor from NYC…..
I dunno … softies? They were all scored from VERY close in, some on rebounds … Wild players just walked in unmolested.
I mean, I imagine in the dressing room it’s the D apologizing to Price, not the other way around.
Price serves up more pies than Farm Boy.
He’s on his knees more than a New Orleans whore.
Now now, that’s no way to talk about your mom.
Hmmmm sounds like talk from someone who knows…..
Philosophical question: If you shelled out $150-200 for a ticket to this game, would you go home happy?
I watched it on free TV, and I feel ripped off.
Yes, a win is a win, and it was exciting till the last second at least for me.
If they were shutout though, I’d be p1ssed.
Where do you live free cable?
This was on CBC bro!
Oh yah my tax dollars at work even less Free!
We pay for the CBC with our taxes… it ain’t free!
It’s your choice to buy a ticket. They don’t owe you anything
That Francois Gagnon article is quite interesting – I recommend it.
An ex-Ottawa journo, Gagnon is a big Cunny supporter so that might color it, but he suggests that Gainey is calling the shots, as he did to Claude Julien before he canned him. This is the only explanation for Gomez’s ice time (Cunnyworth can’t possibly like Gomez), and for Larry Carriere being in the dressing room.
Maybe he did the same with Carbo. That walk in the park with Kovalev always seemed odd to me. Didn’t respect proper chain of command.
Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.
I don’t believe in that excuse. If you own the title of Head Coach, then the decisions are on your head.
If indeed, Gainey, or anyone higher up, insists on “forcing” you to do all sorts of moves that you are opposed to, then you should resign your post.
You can’t get paid to be in a position of authority, and then willingly give it all up, even to higher ups, and expect to be held blameless.
If you own the title, you own the responsibility.
I don’t think it’s an excuse – it’s an observation. If it’s true maybe BG really does have to go.
It may be the only way anything can get done in MTL. The amount of scapegoating that happens to the coaches and general managers in Montreal by the fans is ridiculous. If he hired a coach and a gm just to be the puppet, the front man, the fall guy, just so he could do the real work that needed to be done for an extended period of time. Kind of like the President of the United States is a puppet to the banks.
I don’t think this is whats happening though.
Carriere wears a wireless ear piece when behind the bench. He’s taking orders and instructions during the game. It’s pretty obvious.
Ya. But he also wears that damned tin foil hat to pick up goaltending advice…from E1.
Is that what Gainey is hiding under that beret?
And Gainey is on the grassy knoll….
Conspiracy theory from a mucraking journalist is not the type of thing that a philosopher would countenance. (The francophone media never liked Gainey as GM, and they have had a hate-on for Gomez since he first arrived.)
And as I said earlier, if Gainey were calling the shots on Gomez’s ice time, he would not call him to be on the fourth line
As a truly substantial philosopher said (back in the 13th C. when wise was wise): “do not multiply theory beyond necessity.”
Tell me VH, don’t you find the 13th century to be a bit too progressive? I had you pegged as more of a 800-1000 AD kind of guy.
At least you pegged me in AD ;–)
But seriously, my intellectual century is AD 5th: Augustine & Boethius. (Artistically it’s the Edwardian Age…)
AD 19th for you, I see…
I am perfectly comfortable in my era.
One more for the wish list after the #1 pick…..a good back up for Mr. Softie.
You can fault him on the giveaway that led to the goal, but he did his best to stop the puck, the Habs players seemed confused and just stood there watching.
Hmmm explains everything
Gotta do the internet lingo, replace more with MOAR….. 😀
My age showing
Remember when long hair, owning a muscle car and a bong was cool?
The good old days.
It Still Is Man!
Lol when I read L’s comment I thought of you immediately, too funny dude, Cheers
haha true! If only you didn’t diss Price…. 🙂
Setoguchi is actually a good player. He’d be an upgrade on this team over so many other forwards.
I guess that Emelins’s such a good hitter that he doesn’t even have to leave the bench to knock you on your ass.
Should have never gone to OT.
Should have lost in regulation. TANK HABS TANK
So looking at CapGeek.com;
To buy out Gomez would cost a total of 6.7 million.
Cap hits over the next four years would be;
Is it worth it or would it be better to put up with him for two more years?
Better to send him to Hamilton. Costs 10 million with no cap hit.
There is a push for a 1 time no penalty buy out period this summer when the new CBA is signed. Pray for this
yeah, thats what I’m hoping for.
Can we get a better player than Gomez for three million dollars a year? If yes, then it is worth it.
So yeah, it is worth it. Gomez is done. He’s still young, but he’s got some hard miles on him.
uh…. whats the league minimum?
I guess our top 10 shootout fails came a few days too early.
Hysterical win. Tonight was a demonstration of how terrible the Habs can play. Even if they are up 4-1 it doesn’t matter. That 4th goal against was horrible.
Wow – that Setaguchi wouldn’t look out of place on our squad. Perhaps PG can pick him up in the off season and then he could skate on a line with Gomez next year.
…for the Bulldogs.
Badum bum chhh
Sign Setaguchi fo 25 million for 5 years Goat boy,lol
Things are really bad when a blown 3 goal lead is salvaged by The Gimmick.
I honestly had no idea that finishing 30th would be so difficult.
I think 30th has been clinched for a while now. 29th is still in our grasp though.
Yeah, I was going to raise questions about Columbus, like WTF is going on down there, but I’m too tired.
Emelin should have been first star for that Jedi Mind-Check he laid on Setoguchi in the shootout.
It doesn’t matter how you win.
First of all, should’ve ended 5-3 in regulation: that ref is an incompetent asshole. WTF.
Second of all … actually that’s it.
Yeah, really. It was just so plain obvious that he was being hooked all the way down the ice. It’s always like that. Their priority is to make things interesting first. Officiate second.
Justice that Setoguchi tripped on his attempt.
No it doesnt matter how you win but it should that was terrible, we were up 4-1 with five minutes left. There is no reason they went to OT none. Even the ref sure you can blame one but it was 4-1 with five minutes left. Make it to centre, chip it in, shut it down, not rocket science. Coaching is terrible, why doesnt anyone admit it.
Oh, I admit the coaching is terrible.
With what happened tonight and the western road trip coming up, I’m really not worried about them winning too much to screw up draft position.
I just want another win Saturday to put the ‘final’ nail in the coffin of our favorite whipping boy, the TML! And my season can end peacefully…
Wonky ending to a wonky game.
Absolutely insane. Take the 2 points and hide them in the vault.
Absolute wacky game. The three stooges had nothing on this night. Wow….
KabCam are worst than Spam.
I don’t understand what people think this team has to gain by winning. The only prize left this year is a high draft pick. Cheer for every goal against. A loss is a win now.
I’de rather have a team of players trying to win and losing, than a team of losers losing.
But what we have is a bunch of clowns winning by mistake.
I’m lovin’ this tonight.
Short lived as it may be
I don’t give a crap about the draft, I still like it when they win.
Embarrassing pointless win. I feel sorry for people that actually paid to go see that.
entertaining game, no?
I thought it very entertaining
Oodles of fun!
The tank is off…long live the Habs!
Cue the comeback!
This is the start of our 16-3-0 run!
We don’t need no stinkin’ first pick!
Come on now punk if their going to go all the way might as well go 19-0 haha
Every marathon starts with a first step. 🙂
I’m so down for that!!
HaHa!!! Easy street was the expression, no?
hahahaha who trips on his own feet and falls during a shootout..see there are worse things than us…
He’s going to have to wear a paper bag on his head for awhile. LOL
this game was a blooper video…Emelin on Cole, Whiteès trash talking, White pounding the guy while Campoli held him, Patches being hooked 3 times on the open net, the terrible call on the Kaberle phantom hit on Clutterbuck, Weber high sticking Emelin to lead to a goal, Price trying for the empty net and it costing us, that shootout attempt….this was a a free blooper video to show the kids
Well that was fun. We humiliated ourselves, melted down, blew a 3 goal lead in 3 minutes, and then ended up with 2 points that could prevent us from getting the help we desperately need in the draft.
All around, worst possible outcome.
How dare they try to outsuck US in our own barn? They had no idea who they’ were playing with here.
It’s important to remember, guys: there are still a few people left on earth who think Gomez is currently a better player than desharnais.
That would be Berkshire and Vancouverhab
VancouverHab and Berkshire.
lol…beat you to it!
Awesome. Too funny. 😉
VHab, Berkshire, and Scott Gomez.
ha ha…very good!
Hail Hail great David!!
Can’t believe he didn’t use baby boom for that, should have given the kid a shot
Was that Setoguchi or Gomez ???
Open-mindedness is not a skull fracture
Has to be the most unsatisfying win of the season.
This is the most ridiculous game I have ever watched. And I have watched lingerie football! LOL
Now THAT’s embarassing! Way to go Setaguchi!
Nice Setachokie. Price should buy a lottery ticket tonite.
— HABS INSIDE/OUT R.I.P. —
Ha! Price with the Vulcan Mind Melt save!
Mind Meld. Mind Melt is that chronic shiznit.
Is HH a pothead? Maybe we have more in common than I once thought!
YES! We won. A very impressive two points.
BEST SAVE EVAR!!!!!
Carey Price froze him in his tracks, All praise Price!!!!
We’re lucky to have him eh?
Setaguchi…I feel sorry for him but, LMFAO!!!!
Rofl! I am rolling on the floor laughing right now!
LOL! EPIC FAIL!
Oh Ye of little faith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
talk about shitting the bed…sigh….
Don’t see many deaks.
Geez, with <5 minutes remaining and a 3-goal lead, I thought it was safe to take the trash out. WTF?! Guys, this is my fault. The world revolves around me, and I shouldn't have left my boys alone with a 3-goal lead. I'll see if I can make this up by pulling out my autographed Maurice Richard jersey. (I've PVR'd the game, and am now a few minutes behind because I rewinded to watch the breakdown, so hopefully we haven't already finished this horrorshow).
pac dd bourque
Honestly, I don’t even want this extra point. We blew the game already. This extra point is completely useless.
Start with Staubitz and have him destroy the goalie so another non-goalie will have to play the rest of the shootout.
McGuire for GM!
Roy for Coach!
Sh*t for Brains!
As long as it’s a hockey play, that’s legal.
Doesn’t this game sum up this F^$#ing season. What a disgrace!
Looks like Subban finally chewed through the leash.
Entertaining OT, anyway.
Here comes another SO loss…. too bad, this was a fun game for 56 minutes, but again they forgot to play for 60 minutes. I think that is on the coaching.
LOL.The Dreaded Shoot-Out!!! This is why I smoke!
You ? Smoke?
Honestly is there really any other defenseman in the league who can still go end-to-end like PK does?
Hey, could anyone please post the link so I can watch the SO?
Here comes another SO loss…. too bad, this was a fun game for 56 minutes
Let PK do the shoot-out.
Me: “Going to a shoot-out”
8-year-old: “They’re dead”
It’s so sad that my son has to grow up with a Habs team like this. They’re cursed!!
Your son may end up seeing the first superstar we have had since guy lafleur!!
This is why I will do everything I can to let my son pick his own team.
