Gomez_Monkey

The Canadiens got a power-play goal.
They got a shorthanded goal.
And the W lifted them into 14th place.
Lemme hear you say Wooooooo!

Carey Price was very sharp to earn the shutout.

A goal by Scott Gomez would have been the icing on the gateau.

But it was not to be.

Biggest news of the day: Huffington Post reports René Angelil has bought Schwartz’s.

There goes the Plateau …

    LOL!!

They boo’d the announcement that it wasn’t Gomez. I turned up the volume on the TV about 5 times just in case it was Gomez.

On the replay it looked like Gomez’ goal.

Smartass comments aside, everybody who is a true Habs fan is rooting for Gomez

  7. Bertuzzi says:

New strategy: Gomez stands in front of the net and Montreal players try to bounce it in off him.

  8. Danno says:

They are working to Photoshop a goal for Gomez

    DID GOMEZ TIP THAT!?!?!? OMG

  20. Laramy87 says:

Emelin is now trending worldwide on twitter hahah atta boy

  21. habs-fan-84 says:

Yup, I’m excited to be a fan of this team for the next couple years. We have a solid young core and with Tinordi, Beaulieu and Gallagher in the pipeline and a possible high draft pick this year we’re in good shape.

  22. Hate82 says:

The only goalie I would trade Price for and this is only a maybe
with a lot of thinking (Pekka Rinne)

i say markov will playing in 2 weeks max

  24. Midgetinabikini says:

I get a warm fuzzy feeling inside seeing a team just as bad as the Habs on the ice. If this was any other team, Habs would be in a big hole.

  25. Timo says:

Wheeler is a typical bruin douche.

  26. The Dude says:

Man is that sad watching Markov skate….trade him!

  27. krulmadden says:

Countdown to 11:11 again. Oh the suspense is killing me. Thank god for Molson Dry.

team can still bring a smile to my face

  29. jmsheehy19 says:

what an awful pass by Plekanec on that Shorthander. We should trade him and his ridiculously inflated salary as he is 3rd line center AT BEST!

    (end sarcasm, begin sandwich)

  30. HabsFanMTL says:

hey put Gomez on defense , he might get a goal!!

  31. danhabsfan says:

I really like Emilin… way to go.
I admit, I was hard on him for the first 20 or so games… I was wrong. they better keep him.
Imagine how the back end would look with Emilin and Tinordi .

  32. joeybarrie says:

Play the whole game short handed……. We win the cup.

There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…

  33. slychard says:

Emelin is a F’n God for this team. I love this player!!!!!

    Jets are worse than us.

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

  35. Stev.R says:

Palushaj’s first NHL point. He’s going to be a good NHLer for us in a couple years

  36. ProHabs says:

Just read on MaxPac’s twitter that he wants to donate his goal to Gomez. Is that allowed.

  37. ffenliv says:

    Only somewhat-related to this game:

The Devils have given up 13 SH goals against – as much as the next 2 highest teams combined. How is that even possible? For any team?

  38. temekuhabs says:

    Atta boy Emelin

  39. Timo says:

Beauty! Love the fact the Emelin scored!!! Good for the kid.

  40. HabsFanMTL says:

    woohoooooooooooo emeeeeeeeeee!!

  41. jedimyrmidon says:

    Shorty!

  42. temekuhabs says:

    Like I said its 27 vs 24
This is as good as you’ll get

  43. NightRyder says:

I find it unacceptable to ridicule Gomez during a game. Every time any player puts on the CH, I cheer for them and want the team to win. Anyone who doesn’t is not a fan.
After the match is over, he’s fair game, as are the dreams of the No. 1 overall pic.

  44. Bertuzzi says:

    Gomez can’t buy a goal.

  45. Timo says:

Was the first period as exciting as what’s going on now?

  46. jmsheehy19 says:

    Loving the kid line.

  47. ffenliv says:

I like how Hughson just said that Borque missed a pass, even though Darche, with 2 guys – including Borque – wide open, couldn’t hit either of them, with no pressure.

I like Darche’s story, and might like him has a person, but I just can’t like him on the team.

  48. HabsFanMTL says:

if Emelin can throw his weight around and not have to drop the gloves you’d think Gill could give a few bone crushing checks too , they’d think twice about going after him anyways cause he is a giant! come on Gill if u want to keep ur job here i think thats the last feature u can showcase ! Make opp players pay for coming in!

    • slychard says:

Gill does not have to worry about keeping his job. he has no future on this team after this season and he knows it…

      +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
      Kiss my hAbSS!!!

    • ffenliv says:

Gilli is way, way too slow to go for hits. Because of his slow foot speed, he’s less likely actually to hit a person, and that compounds, because his lack of speed also makes it hard for him to get back in position. Hits just aren’t his game.

  49. Timo says:

Ok, what did I miss. Did Gomer score?

  50. The Dude says:

Jeeze ,Iwonder whats going to happen in the 2nd and 3rd period, lol

  51. HabsFanMTL says:

why the F**k is Darche on the line with pleks??? would any team put darche on thier 1st or 2nd line???

  52. habs001 says:

This jet lineup is pretty bad we should not be behind them…

  53. Bertuzzi says:

I cannot believe the fans jeering Gomez. If I was Gomez, I would demand a trade!

  54. slapshot777 says:

Carriers, will still be here when all the dust settles. He only went down to give the guys a hand for the duration of this season rather than hire an assistant for this season.
I have heard that Carriere might become a candidate for GM. That might not be a bad decision. Isn’t he a good judge of young talent. Wasn’t he mainly responsible for all the young talent in Buffalo?

Now I don’t know about his decision making when it comes to making trades but hopefully with his experience he could do well.

In the meantime we will see who it is down the road.

  55. Kimberly2u says:

Wanna bet Gomez is out with a lower body injury after that hit..,lol

  56. LL says:

    Dilemma:

My head knows they have to rebuild (tank), but my CHeart just wants them to win every game.

  57. ProHabs says:

Gomez played 13:00 that period? Holy Fug. Cunney must love the guy.

  58. RGM says:

In amusing news, Georges Laraque is taking up for Scott Gomez and saying that the fans & media “making fun” of him will deter free agents from signing in Montreal. It’s a damn shame that these types of antics didn’t work in preventing him from signing with the team. He just doesn’t get it – if you work hard and produce (even sometimes, viz. Kovalev) the fans will love and admire you. If you lollygag and go a year without scoring, of course the fans will get on your case. All one needs to do is look at Erik Cole – if the response to this player’s performance doesn’t entice people to want to come and be successful in the Habs uniform, that’s their problem.

    • The Jackal says:

Gomez is a good player who is a victim of a contract too big for his own good. He may not be a good fit in Montreal but that doesn’t mean he has to be ridiculed. And people wonder why players don’t want to sign here?

      • RGM says:

It’s not about the contract and the money. He has not scored a goal in a year. Take the time to go to NHL.com and take a look at the list of people that have scored a goal this season. Kyle Chipchura, a guy that had to go through a tryout with the friggin Phoenix Coyotes has a goal. Cam Ward has a goal. Mike Blunden has a goal. None of these are what people would consider to be good offensive forces, yet all of them have greater output that Scott Gomez.

If you honestly think for a second that we should be worried if a player that won’t score a goal in a full calendar year will be deterred from signing up to make millions of dollars playing for the Montreal Canadiens, I cannot possibly disagree with you any more vehemently. I don’t want millionaire floaters that produce NOTHING on my team. I would rather have 5 Mathieu Darches in my lineup than 1 Scott Gomez because at least Darche puts in a full and honest effort and can actually score a damn goal.

    • The Dude says:

Laraque plus Gomez = 1 goal per season ….maybe?

  59. boonie says:

I’m paraphrasing the great Crash Davis, but this is for you Mr. Gomez,

“You know what the difference is between scoring no goals for one calendar year and scoring one? I got it figured out (beat). One goal every 365 days. Okay. That’s about one goal every 246 periods — you get one extra flare — just one — a gork, a groundball with eyes, a dying quail– just one more dying quail a year and you’re in the Old Forum.”

  60. nfldanchor says:

Pacs has been given the first goal. Just announced on HNIC.

  61. matt jordan says:

HNIC crew is right, Bogosian, what raw skills. Good skater, huge, HARD shot… former top five pick.

Emelin, a keeper, what a beast.

Interview on CBC, Elliot Friedman Is towering over DD.

  63. nfldanchor says:

Emelin is awesome , definitely becoming the top hitter in the NHL . Love watching this guy play,he adds a lot of character to the team .

Didn’t Pacioretty get that goal? I thought it went off Pav’s stick…

Price, Subban, Eller, Pacioretty, Diaz, Bourque,Desharnais, Cole
Gionta (only because he’s injured for the year, otherwise he should be shopped)
    Everyone else should be available

  66. slapshot777 says:

RC playing more of the young guys today. That what we should be doing find out what we got and sort through the inventory. This the time to cut bait.

I really like that LL line doing a lot of good things out there. If not for a bit of bad luck LL could have a couple of goals already.

  67. ifitwasnt4kovalev says:

anyone know when tinordi will most likely play with montreal ? any chance he can play next year ???

  68. danhabsfan says:

Larry Carriere doesn’t even deserve to be here

  69. manu07 says:

I agree I like that line as well. If only we could fine some useful line mates for plecks.

  70. I love the DD-MaxPac-Cole line, so I’ll let it go if they keep scoring.
But we must blow this lead!! We need to keep losing so PG’s a%% can be kicked out of the management asap.

  71. HabsFanMTL says:

thats the line i said should be together yesterday! LL Eller Palushaj! keep that line together next year also

  72. ifitwasnt4kovalev says:

    guys to keep :

Cole Pacs Desharnais Price(but if the price is right elsewhere, idd trade him), emelin, subban, diaz

Emelin is in fine form today really laying on the body. Love that guy.

    • EricInStL says:

I like the D lineup possibilities next year.
      Subban – Gorges – Emelin – Tinordi – Diaz

Add Beaulieu and 1 or two more stay at home + rough D man and Price lowers his GAA by .50 for sure

      This has potential
